Rafael Nadal is a great star in tennis. We know how much he can achieve for his great sports performance. 2020 is a great challenge for his career but currently, the Covid19 has us all in jake. The world economy is being affected and most importantly the safety and health of humanity are at risk. I have never seen what we are experiencing the effects of the virus in the world. The first thing above all is that we succeed in overcoming the virus and the vaccine is discovered in time before it makes more damage.

I think both Roger Federer and Nadal are great tennis players. Roger Federer has more Grand Slam singles title than any other tennis player. I am desperate to see some action happening on the court but, in these situations I do not know how many more months it will take for things to become normal.

In my opinion Federer will always be the better player as he has won grand slams in all the tournaments where as Nadal has won the majority of his grand slams at the French Open. Yes there is a case for Federer not winning more then one French Open however he has won a number of grand slams in the other three tournaments. The one that could out perform them all is Djokovic, he was looking good to win multiple grand slams this year but the virus has currently put a stop to that.

For me Federer and Djokovic both could be in Hall of Fame because these both have great achievements in tennis and Nadal is also one of best even he is doing good only in French Open but still one of best players of this era but still Federer and Djokoivc both have some good and better things for tennis and are much ahead of Nadal.

Before Djoker falls into Hall of Fame , Nadal will be in it for sure . You gotto look at the stats clearly and then comment on whether Nadal is behind Djoker and Federer or not . Nobody in the history is as comfortable on the clay court as Nadal is and it doesn't mean he hasn't won in other hard court / grass court tournaments , he has . We all know Federer only won the French open because Nadal was defeated in the SF and didn't face Nadal in the finals , otherwise he would still have not had the French title to his name.

Nadal holds the most  ATP 1000 titles , next comes Djoker and far behind them is Fed .

I agree with you mate, Federer is an all around player as he won in many and different surfaces as compare to Nadal which has focused more on clay. Djokovic could be the next player in my mind that could compare to Federer as far as winning Grand Slams and tournament in many surfaces.

@Indymoney - no argument there, the big 3 is definitely shoo-in for the tennis Hall-of-Fame once they retire.

Obviously, both are great tennis players in their own right, Nadal the clay court specialist he was and Federer, grass or hard court. Well, everyone is desperate to watch tennis specially the Grand Slams, but as of now, everyone is really affected by the pandemic. All we can do is hope that it won't take that long so see tennis games again.

All three will no doubt be inducted into the tennis hall of fame. When we take a look at each of the players we see that they are each dominate at one particular grand slam. Nadal has won the most French Open titles, Djokovic the most Australian Open titles and Federer the most Wimbledon titles. Its hard to see one of these three breaking or equalling the most US grand slam titles as Federer is 2 behind, Nadal 3 and Djokovic 4 behind so I don't think we'll see either one of these players reaching 7 US grand slams.

Yeah its a shame that this virus has affected everything in the world. I just wonder if this helps Federer continue his career into 2021 as like I have said in here, I do suspect that the current season might not go ahead for months or will he just announce his retirement at the end of the year? It will be interesting to see what he does this year.

I think if there is someone who are going to 'benefit' from this cancellations of tennis schedules, it will be Roger Federer. He can still take more rest, no pressure for him to come back, since all games are suspended.

So there is a chance that he can still go way beyond this year and play in 2021 as his body has ample rest and he could get back fully recovered. So I doubt that he will announce his retirement at the end of the year.

Well that is one way to look at it but from other point of view , the only thing Federer is afraid of right now is Time. He might get good rest but since he is aging , it will very difficult for him to compete with the youngsters , so whatever time is lost now will be precious for Federer .

Definitely, this postponement will give Roger more time to heal, he is old and additional time to recover is very beneficial to him.

So there is a chance that he can still go way beyond this year and play in 2021 as his body has ample rest and he could get back fully recovered. So I doubt that he will announce his retirement at the end of the year.

I don't know what his timeframe for a comeback, but seeing what is going on with the sporting world today as many tournaments have been push through, he could set a new retirement year in 2021.

@absy - Father Time will eventually caught us, so I don't think Roger is afraid of it, he is just delaying the inevitable so maybe next year perhaps he will retire.

Well that is one way to look at it but from other point of view , the only thing Federer is afraid of right now is Time. He might get good rest but since he is aging , it will very difficult for him to compete with the youngsters , so whatever time is lost now will be precious for Federer .

I'm thinking about Roger Federer's chance of making it to the Olympics to a new scheduled date. Now that he is injured, I doubt that he can attend the game in Tokyo this July. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Olympic has been move, thus giving Federer ample time to heal and compete on the biggest sporting event. However, it's the age factor again, as you have said, no one can escape Father time, so I do hope that Federer can compete in the Olympics for the last time representing his country.

It must be very hard right now for sports athletes with the lock down around the world as it will be tough to stay fit during this. I know there are ways to stay fit however it won't be the same as practising on a tennis court which so many do. Its looking like we won't see any sports return this year which can help Federer however he will then need to work on his fitness and not being able to practice on courts it he may find it hard to reach peak fitness.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.

Given that Roger Federer is still in recovery, I'm sure that he will extend his rehabilitation until everything has settled down. I will consider Federer an elite athlete (who wouldn't?) so for me it's going to be easy for him to recover and return to his peak form. They also have high level trainers to keep them fit in this time and I'm sure they have their own home gym to keep most of the athletes busy if the games are going to be suspended throughout the year.

@vella85 I beg to differ as these are high paid athletes who can afford the best dieticians, and hire professional personal trainers to help them remain fit during this lockdown. As far as Federer is concerned it’s probably his last year, and it’ll be a miracle if he can continue next year too as he’s aged, and has suffered many injuries too hence I feel it’s the perfect time for him to retire from the sports at the end of the year.

It was reported that Roger Federer is doing good in his recovery, according to Ivan Ljubicic,

https://www.tennisworldusa.org/tennis/news/Roger_Federer/84883/ivan-ljubicic-provides-positive-updates-on-roger-federer-s-recovery/

So we really don't know when the games are going to resume, if he is completely heal by the time everything has calm down and the Covid-19 virus has somewhat contained, then probably Roger will retain (timeline for his return is June of this year). So it's really up to his body and performance and he come back and see how able his body. But I doubt that he will retire this year though. I feel that he will stretch it out until he doesn't have it anymore.

That's what I'm trying to say, they have made so much money in the circuit, so they can hire the best trainers, best therapist or even the best dieticians, and he even have a personal chef to keep them in tip top form even at this lock down period.

But, retiring this year? Nah, it he continues to win after his comeback, retirement will be delayed, that's for sure.

This is really easy for player like him as he is already in elite class of tennis rich players and not going to retire in near future even this injury is now not effecting him with ranking no tennis nothing happening for any one hopefully he will came and have some good time in near future and can stay in top ranked players for some time.
