It'll be dust proof but not water proof. The device has no battery in this version, so you cannot "just use bluetooth instead of USB". In my 10+ years of professional computer work I have never seen a USB plug so worn it no longer works. They can withstand a long operational lifetime. I would say for a real savings account you should maintain a true solid offline account, like the physical Bitcoins or something similar. This device helps bridge the gap to make offline spending easier for other things. That's because 5 year old hardware is replaced & any port that survives ten years was not used much. Micro USB ports are rated for 10,000 cycles (insertions). At ten a day that's less than 3 years. Won't be an issue for most people, but its something to think about. |
