Did someone check the odds for Union Saint-Gilloise to win that game against Liverpool?

it was around @2.15
so widely expected from Liverpool to lose against Union Royale in Belgium, after series of wins in Premier league
I do agree that Liverpool made their way into next round, but had to put something on them not to lose, for the sake of fair-play, since having Liverpool not-to-lose against Royale @1.73 is really a value bet, no matter team that they are putting on the pitch

nevertheless, they lost, but Toulouse made a win, and this game didn't matter at all in the end
but, it does not look good to see bookies expecting Liverpool to lose, just because they don't need a win

I think the bookies did the right thing here. There is no reason for them to think about fair-play and so on, but to come up with odds that they think are most appropriate / in the best of their own interest. When Klopp gave his interview telling the journalists how he takes this game seriously, does anyone believe a single word when that very same coach points out every 2 weeks how players are physically exhausted and all that is too much? Of course he chooses his words wisely to not get attacked for bad sportsmanship, but I think we all know what he tells his players before games that are meaningless for them. Don't go for that extra sprint, avoid that tackle, give 95% instead of 105% and honestly as a coach I would tell my players the same.

Very nice, thank you fr the freebets, what did we do to deserve it =)

I've tagged on a conservative acca, putting on a bit of English flavour (can't help it, really). And then threw one on against City (Bayern odds to lose really not interesting for me, unfortunately).

Books have Mainz as the favourite this week -- can't recall the only other time this season they were, I picked them to lose that one but they only drew -- so this time I'll bend to their will.

Good stuff and thanks to Sportsbet.io!

I haven't checked any odds yet, but I saw your bet slip here and noticed that the odds for Dortmund to win a game are going up in general. Seems like bookmakers are losing confidence in Dortmund. But what can I say? I agree that Dortmund has become a pretty risky pick. One win in the last five games...

Most interesting game is probably Bayern - Stuttgart. I am not brave enough I think to pick Stuttgart here, but for the brave guys here, Stuttgart is giving you almost 6x if they win.

I doubt the member you know that earned $1200 per month was a sole case by being on a customised deal. If I recall correctly, for a short period at one stage all the Chipmixer participants were getting paid more than $1200 per month because the price of Bitcoin was high enough to take them over $300 per week.

I know someone who earned $1200 per month from ChipMixer.

You recall correctly! But it wasn't because the Bitcoin price was high enough, it was guaranteed over $300 per week if someone made the allowed 50 posts to be paid as it was a flat rate for every participant of $6 per post. Depending on the month, it was ~ $1300-1350 per week month. In many places of the world, an account in that signature campaign would get them above average income per month.

Pretty interesting how close it was for Union Saint-Gilloise to get into the next round. I didn't place any bets, but was quite sure that Liverpool would lose this game. I often read that people underestimate Union Saint-Gilloise, but they needed Toulouse to lose (lol, no pun intended, but pretty nice wordplay). Did someone check the odds for Union Saint-Gilloise to win that game against Liverpool?
525  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: December 14, 2023, 03:31:29 PM
In essence the cycles are very similar while the ingredients that keep those cycles running and recurring change in composition over time. You mentioned the institutional investors and that is certainly one reason why Bitcoin went places in the last few years. But we can't really know whether some of the institutional investors have been investing into Bitcoin for a long time now. They might not have announced it publicly because they first wanted to grow their holdings without sparking excitement and miss out on favorable prices, but it's possible that they have been stacking up for a long time now and just now begin to make a case for Bitcoin. Don't underestimate the big players here, they know very well that Bitcoin is a must have of any reasonably composed and diversified portfolio.
I don't know anything about institutional investors because the rumours have been around for the last five years. But the cycles and market manipulation have not changed. One thing is clear that the big companies have been around for a long time. If the etf is accepted, the big money will be in the market officially.

I think with this sentence you described it perfectly Smiley

Quote
the big money will be in the market officially

I am absolutely convinced that institutional/big money has been in the market for a long time now and there was intrinsic and extrinsic pressure for large scale investors to make their move. When Bitcoin went towards 70k, I think that was the final call for everyone who believed Bitcoin is just a bubble about to pop and vanish. No. And as you said, the time has come now for institutional investors to talk about their stakes in the network publicly.
526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: December 14, 2023, 03:05:09 PM
No one thought that this would happen to Union, their game was very bad at the start of the season until now they have only won 3 wins, 1 draw and 9 defeats, of course it will be homework for their management and coaching staff, that this is Their worst performance and even being in the relegation zone is something to be aware of.

Even though the competition is still long, it seems like Union will be able to rise to improve their standing which is currently in 15th position in the standings, it is not impossible if Union has the determination to rise from the downturn that their club is currently experiencing, if there is no will then it will be difficult for them to rise and even continue to push to the bottom of the Bundesliga standings..

I think it is always good for teams to play several competitions because there is something to look forward to, but in the case of Union Berlin it might be good that there is the Bundesliga only now. They are out of the DFB Cup and now their Champions League adventure came to an end as well. The mission is set in stone now: avoid relegation into 2. Bundesliga. When you see them playing in the Champions League, it was quite good at times and they don't deserve that far down in the table. I think they will still climb a few ranks, but I don't expect big surprises from here on.

528  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: December 13, 2023, 11:24:13 PM

PS: garantiert falsche Kurzzeitprognose, Stand 12/12 gegen 21 Uhr UTC:

After missing 85 points in the Leipzig match unluckily last week I have climbed to 9th place by winning 72 points thanks to Antwerp this week. However there is still a gap of more than 62 points between me and the leader Hhampuz. Except me jayce, Saint-loup and Pulsar77 also predicted Barcelona to lose. Congratulations to them as well.

I bet all my stakes on Antwerp to win. Therefore I'm very happy. I was in the last place at the beginning of this round.

Did anyone placed big stakes gamble on Antwerp to win today? Smiley

I bet all my stakes on Antwerp to win. Therefore I'm very happy. I was in the last place at the beginning of this round.

Nice one, and again I was the coward this round because I was about to go for that pick. But it is probably just the subjective perception that leads one to believe this round could have been huge. I then saw Shakhtar and thought a 6.6 is quite attractive, still doesn't save me entirely, but it felt like more value for the stakes.

But well done @CLS63 and @Pulsar77. You had the guts I didn't! Smiley

Though, it's unbelievable how Barcelona is kicking the bucket these days. But these games are worth taking a risk when the favorite qualified already. I was misled by the Bayern game. I thought Bayern would play weaker but instead chose to deliver.

Rank 6 on Superbru, let's see where this is going, good luck everyone!
531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: December 13, 2023, 10:13:50 PM

As much as possible for Leverkusen right now is just to maintain their consistency so that it can continue to run well because after all with the current conditions that is what they need most.
Regardless of how intimidating from Bayern they always do in order to successfully stick tight in the end if Leverkusen still have good consistency then Bayern will be very difficult to overtake them.
But sometimes this kind of consistency won't come for a whole season because there will definitely be obstacles over time and that's where the role of Xabi must be emphasised.

As I said before. Last season even Dortmund were very comfortable at the top but slowly they were eroded by the many interventions from Bayern because in the end Bayern were always the main players in the Bundesliga so to beat such a situation inevitably Leverkusen must be required harder even though we know it's a very big burden.
Leverkusen have been able to keep up with wins and maintaining their position on the league table even though the trophy isn't certain to rest with them, their consistency at this time works the magic because it is clearly a sign that they're a better side to hold the trophy this season. I personally do not think they'll suddenly and gradually draw back in performance which would cause them to backslide in the table. Alonso would be very mindful not to trade his chances with the team.

Their main rival Munich currently are flunctuating in performance, after not being able to confidently win their last two group games, it's kept them points away from the first place. We don't know how tough the next league game would be for them but it's very much likely that they'd want to make amends for their last errors, the second half of the season is still there for these teams to do their exploits. Hopefully the winner would be very much certain before the season rounds up.

The consistency is already suffering from little bumps in the road. There were two draws in a row for Leverkusen when Bayern lost one and won one. If Leverkusen wants to stay ahead of Bayern, these draws are deadly to their title dreams. I have said that before and it was the same with Dortmund, you don't get presented with a lot of chances against Bayern, but when you do you have to take them. That's where Leverkusen failed. Not losing is important to teams that fight against relegation, but when you want to win the title against Bayern, a draw may not be enough. I see it coming that this is again a close finish with Bayern being ahead of Leverkusen.
532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - 2nd Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: December 13, 2023, 08:52:57 PM
The defeatfrom Hamburger SV against Paderborn resulted that they are no longer at place 2 which is now occupied from Kiel and Kiel has equal points like St. Pauli. This means next weekend will decide who will go into the winter break at place 1.

Osnabrück fought with passion and the team has new hope of not being relegated at the end of the season. But there is still still a long way to go.

What's worse is that it was a game in the Volksparkstadion, meaning they have one game less at home to get important three points and they were one player more for roughly 8 minutes to then waste that advantage by receiving a red card themselves. Hamburg is not just playing bad, but they are also playing dumb. Now we have again this weird situation in the 2. Bundesliga that Nürnberg ranked 10. is only 4 points away from Hamburg ranked 3.
533  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: December 13, 2023, 06:21:19 PM
~

From this point of view it sounds logical in the mind, basically we don't know that whether they have been accumulating bitcoin for a long time, but not publicizing that they are accumulating bitcoin to benefit from bitcoin. Previously Larry fink denied about bitcoi but now approves ETF products, this also seems a little strange to me.

Yes, if we look at the movement side it is similar to the previous cycle, and indeed the ingredients are always in their composition even though the context has a difference so that bitcoin becomes the center of attention of the global financial world gradually, in a matter of one year also bitcoin is the best asset that has a significant increase and more than 100%, if we collect bitcoin since the beginning of January.

This is what I am talking about:

Quote
Previously Larry fink denied about bitcoi but now approves ETF products...

I know that public corporations need to have their balance sheet and people can have a look at them and in some instances they would be able to detect whether digital assets are listed in the balance sheet somewhere, but if Blackrock wanted to build a portfolio without anyone noticing, that is the easiest part for them to hide any digital asset acquisitions. They could set up new companies of all types to hide their holdings in some way. I just don't buy the narrative that many of the institutional investors that turned pro Bitcoin out of a sudden weren't holding any before they made their U-turn. It is not realistic to believe that they all refrained from buying some as a hedge against being wrong.

Buffett hasn't and Munger hasn't I guess, but if I had been one of those guys, only for the sake of hedging against me being wrong, I would have taken 100 million USD and bought Bitcoin. I never was fully convinced whether these guy really didn't, but it seems they didn't. For Blackrock 100 million is peanuts and in 17/18 they could have amassed 20k to 30k Bitcoin with that amount.
534  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: December 13, 2023, 05:04:47 PM
We know that the current cycle is different than the previous one, because institutional investors are starting to become bitcoin savvy, and maybe they are already aware of crypto technology, and indirectly that the crypto industry has a bright future ahead to get wider technology adoption.

Yes in such a scenario it could happen, but I want to question where they get the profit from the formation of the bitcoin ETF? is it from transaction fees that are done or what? I am still hesitant in this case about traditional exchanges that want to market bitcoin on their platform with their ETF products.

In essence the cycles are very similar while the ingredients that keep those cycles running and recurring change in composition over time. 535  Economy / Speculation / Re: So I guess we sell at $48626 ? on: December 13, 2023, 04:46:13 PM
Let us not be afraid of bitcoin price falling because might rush or been inquisitive to sell our bitcoin immediately the price got to forty eight thousand as people emphasis or lamenting due to a passed experience of bitcoin, you may rush to sell your bitcoin now and probably the price get increased you will blame your self been at rush or panic to sell your bitcoin, so therefore only thing I have to encourage people is to make use of chart to study the movement of the candle sticks and that will give them a clear understanding of when to sell their bitcoin and when not to sell their bitcoin, we should not depend on a speculation and predictions because many people have regretted today because of wrong advice and signal they take from people, in conclusion what happened last year in bitcoin can not repeat itself, so make your decision and sell your coin

Bitcoin price has not fallen much yet but people are panicking too much, i do not know why  Huh

48-50K is still on the cards and I think after this small correction we may again be heading towards this target. I know that there is a big resistance there and we may get multiple rejections from this 48K level before we can break this resistance and it becomes a strong support.

And with Bitcoin falling in the $40,000 - $41,000 range, I think this TA might have been invalidated already and there will be no selling at $48,000?

Just shows that it's really hard to predict where the price is going to be, TA could help us, but sometimes it's beyond our control, price moves in the opposite direction. Nevertheless, this is just a minor correction, we still have 2 weeks or more to go before the end of the year.

So we might see some swing in the price or at least going back to $44,000 range and I think everyone will be happy on that price move.

TA might be working a bit better for well established markets with a long history and a comprehensive legal framework. Applying TA to a market that is based on an infant technology that is subject to constant changes or new laws in the legal and regulatory environment is worthless. What does TA help me when approval or denial of an ETF is around the corner or how does TA work in effects like FTX burning down or CZ and Binance getting sued and penalized with over 4 billion USD in fines? What does TA help me when one of the leading stable currencies goes bust or gets under pressure, like BUSD did a while ago?

All this TA stuff is mostly for calm times with little to no action / exogenous impacts.
536  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think that visionary leaders make great CEOs? on: December 13, 2023, 03:18:54 PM
We are awed by so-called visionary leaders because may possess unique strengths and charisma. However, I have found that most of them have a weakness in communication, being adaptable, and in team collaboration.  For example, a visionary leader Steve Jobs though he was praise for all the great stuff he did for Apple there where complaints of his intense and demanding nature. This negatively impacted the morale of his employees and lead to high turnover rates. Obviously employees would naturally seek out more collaborative and supportive work environments. My point is visionary leaders do not make great CEO. I believe the success of a company should not solely rely on the charisma and vision of one leader but should be built on a foundation of effective teamwork and inclusive decision-making. Do you support this argument?

I am not sure if I recall this correctly, but it was said that Steve Jobs had planned a different sequence for his products and I think his plan was to first develop and unveil the iPad, but then someone from his main development and design team came and said that they have to prioritize the iPhone over the iPad. It was said that Jobs found that compelling and stopped the iPad because one of his employees told him to do so.

I think there was more collaboration and teamwork than you can imagine if you only believe these stories about Steve Jobs and how demanding he was. Employee turnover is of course an indicator for some things, but not for everything. Apple back at the time really set new standards. If it wasn't for some unique characteristics, why would these CEOs all stand out otherwise? And do they really stand out or are they the chosen ones because brands, like politics, are often connected to one main character. Steve Jobs said something like: you don't have to be the smartest in the room for everything, but you have to be the smartest in finding and employing the smartest for everything. Jobs was charismatic and smart and knew how to present Apple in a disruptive and convincing way and how to spread the message that working for Apple is a privilege. The same counts for Musk, Bezos, Gates, Mateschitz (RedBull), Zuckerberg, etc. They all have certain characteristics in common. Likable characteristics? Well, nobody said that, but characteristics that are positively correlated with sustainable success.
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google is preparing for Spot Bitcoin ETF on: December 13, 2023, 01:51:25 PM
In anticipation of the approval of Bitcoin ETF, Google is adjusting its guidelines for crypto-related products. Before now Google had been very strict on crypto-related advertising on the platform because of concerns for fraud and misleading promotion. However, it seems they are gradually adjusting these policies to reflect the increased mainstream or institutional adoption of Bitcoin.

From January 2024 Google will allow adverts on financial products that allow investors to trade shares in trusts holding large pools of digital currency known as "Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts". With this change in policy crypto coin trusts could run ads on Google provided they register with the SEC. This subtle adjustment of ads policy is an indication that they are preparing for Spot Bitcoin ETF.

What's more interesting about your observation is that it could be in anticipation of many things besides the approval of an ETF. I think a lot of corporations and institutions have now finally understood that Bitcoin will stay around and it will probably play an important role in many applications as we have only been scratching the surface of Bitcoin's potential for a long time. I like to mention what the US Space Force Major said about Bitcoin's role for national security in regards to decentralized data storage and security. If they understand Bitcoin's potential at least vaguely, I am sure that Google is onto it as well and I guess nobody would be surprised if they launch services of some type relating to Bitcoin anytime soon.

I am following the Copenhagen - Galatasaray game. Damn it would be sensational for them if they manage to qualify for the round of 16. I have rarely seen a team fighting as hard as they did during the CL group stage.

Yep they qualified. Its ashamed that Manchester United finished 4th. I was expecting either Copenhagen or Galatasaray to qualify after Bayer Munich but I really wish that we won against Munich. Turn out we still sucks after all and thats it I guess for today, nothing really unexpected except for Union Berlin scoring two goals against Real Madrid. Heck even scoring 1 goal against Madrid would be pretty decent already for a team like Union Berlin

Although my picks for the first round are irrelevant, I went with 2 or more goals for Union Berlin because I thought Real Madrid would certainly take this game lightly and give some of their players a rest, but when I saw their line-up, it didn't look as if there are any weak (or weaker) Real Madrid players on the pitch. The biggest surprise was that he let Bellingham go the full distance. I was quite sure he would give him a rest, but Ancelotti seems to understand that there are players who lose more than they gain from not playing. It was a decent goodbye to the Champions League for Union Berlin.

Manchester United is wrecked. If that's how they go about a final game in the group stage, which could have saved them a spot in the Europa League at least, then really good night for all of them.
539  Economy / Economics / Re: GDP is not really growth index or representation of economy on: December 13, 2023, 12:08:06 PM
GPD will only be used to measure a country's overall economy in one year, it is never used to represent individual welfare. Usually, to calculate individual welfare, GDP per capita is used. That's why don't ever compare the welfare of society in Singapore with India, because even though India wins in terms of GDP, Singapore wins far in terms of individual welfare (2,256.59 USD vs 72,794.00 USD).

But keep in mind that that this is still just crunching raw numbers without any required deep diving here. If you take GDP per capita, the question still remains 'who earns what?'. The number of billionaires in a country can skew that number significantly and suggest that on average the people in one country are richer than the people in another country. You need to add the Gini coefficient then to see what's going on in a country. If you take a little community of 100 people and 1 guy earns 1 billion a year "domestically" whereas everyone else is homeless and unemployed, the GDP per capita for that community would be 10 million per capita. There are several countries with enormous wealth inequality and since wealth is often the most significant production factor for income, wealth inequality is often close to income inequality.

Ten teams did not submit, and none of them are my opponent! Why am I having such bad luck with "late submissions"? I hate how serious every team becomes when they play against me. When am I going to get the "fail to submit" advantage? Sigh..

I must admit that the cup questions were not analysed; I simply chose random answers because I didn't want to stress my squad for some Micky cup competition when I have a league to chase.

Sheriff Igebotz, nothing to see here.

Nope. Just LiVarpool 1EPL title in 20yrs+.

I am not sure if I am allowed to talk about it publicly, but let me reveal a secret @Igebotz: before the season started, several players here agreed to put a bounty on your head, mafia style, you know? Tongue

I am following the Copenhagen - Galatasaray game. Damn it would be sensational for them if they manage to qualify for the round of 16. I have rarely seen a team fighting as hard as they did during the CL group stage.
