CORRECT AND NOT ATTACK
How do you mean?
There is actually no official rule or dos and don'ts here on Bitcointalk the rules are actually official unofficial rules.
This is the internet where there is absolute freedom so it's up to newbies to either learn and contribute to the forum or spam and try scam and end up being either banned or your account filled with negative tags.
Every one on this forum even the legendary members you mentioned were once newbies with zero merit. And of course some of the high ranked members can be rude or thick headed here but you are going to have to learn to live with it or should I say learn despite it.
522  Other / Meta / Re: Why is there no child board for Bitcoin Core discussions? on: January 27, 2024, 02:00:02 AM
I think creating a Bitcoin core child board if it currently doesn't exist, would not be necessary because you can easily place that your question into  Wallet software or even  Bitcoin Discussion depending on the nature of your question.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Can Explain What This Guy is Saying About Bitcoin On Reddit? on: January 27, 2024, 01:42:27 AM
He actually was talking about seed phrases and he is bluffing You can obviously see that from his post engagement. Seed phrases are one of the most secure forms of pass security and protection due to their present in ability to even be brute forced.
Let's take a normal 4 digit pass code for example. Now the number of possible permutations of making a passcode is about 10⁴ now taking this into consideration if one should guess like he said he did, your chances of getting it correctly is;  1/10⁴ which is about 0.01% which is practically impossible but however not impossible to brute force since it's about 10000 permutations.

However the number of possible permutations of private keys out there is 2²⁵⁶ . Of which brute forcing from scratch is currently impossible. Even for a 12 word combination seed phrase, assuming you already have all the words but are wrongly placed, the permutations of placing them is 12! = 479,001,600 of which guessing the correct placement is impossible.
524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 26, 2024, 10:24:04 PM
No I don't advice such a practice.
I can recall sometime ago when I did some studies about habits, a part of the article I used during my period of research spotted out that it takes an average of about 66 days for a new habit to manifest in someone. Now imagine gambling and making stakes every single day for over a period of about 2 months and boom it becomes a habit. And before you know what is going on you may be stuck with an Addiction. Addicts are called addicts in the first case because of the fact that they stake and gamble too often that it becomes uneconomical and irresponsible. There is almost no difference with someone whose day doesn't pass by without him placing a bet. And an addict who can't just help but gamble excessively.
525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: January 26, 2024, 10:12:55 PM
I would say it depends but the truth is all gambling games still have a percentage of its possible win or loss dedicated to luck.when we make gambling stakes, we hope on winning but the truth is there is always a chance of losing. Aside the fact that all gambling games still require a fraction of luck , they don't all depend equally on luck. Some include things like experience, statistics and even proper analysis which some are just fully luck based.
Take soccer predictions for example with statistics and analysis you can raise your winning odds higher making luck to be more on your side.
526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the definition of a Gambler? Do you consider yourself as a Gambler? on: January 26, 2024, 10:04:37 PM
I think this question depends on your point of view. Because on a normal basis, a gambler is someone who engages himself in gambling activities of any kind. Of course the person in question may not be a core gambler but the fact is at that particular period of time if he indulges in gambling activities he is a gambler. I think the main difference with gambling and regular gaming is staking. Because when people stake for a normal game it can be called gambling and in my opinion, the persons involved in that activity during that period of time are gamblers.
527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a group or organization that specifically supports Bitcoin as currency? on: January 26, 2024, 06:28:17 PM
Do you know of any organizations that promote the use of Bitcoin as a currency?

A user group or organization that specifically supports Bitcoin as a currency could be beneficial.

Do you think it would be worth creating one?

Bitcoin talk is the best example. That is why its web address is Bitcointalk.org simply Because the org signifies it is an organization of Bitcoiners.

529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are these P2P crypto platforms SCAM? on: January 25, 2024, 01:31:50 AM
They may appear to be very legit but the most important thing to do when dealing with crypto especially is to be anonymous so try as much as you can to avoid KYC .
Keep your data and keys private and safe.

531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally I got myself my first real cold wallet on: January 24, 2024, 04:48:03 AM
There have been multiple threads in the past that show how unsafe ledger wallets are. Of what use is a cold wallet if it still has connection to a cloud?
It's same as storing your keys online which is infact very risky.
I will advice you to simply sell that ledger wallet off and get an old PC which you can format and use as an air gapped device..
532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: January 24, 2024, 03:47:29 AM
To start with, stealing is a wrong act. Even if he stole to gamble and still won, it is still a wrong act. He is probably either a greedy person or a gambling addict because this is a perfect example of a question of why someone would go out of his way to gamble to the extent of placing bets with money that is not his.
If he is a teen I would say he also probably did it based on peer pressure.

However the case of the aunty frowning at the stolen cash could actually be because he lost the bet. Because most persons , including some core haters of gambling would not be very angered if the guy had come hopping back home with the news that he hit a jackpot. Like I always say most people who hate gambling hate it probably because of the addicts and Losers and unfortunately most addicts lose more than they win in gambling but still can't just stop staking.
533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Transparent dices ? on: January 24, 2024, 03:32:50 AM
Generally in most casinos, transparent dices are more like a standard or tradition used to make the  whole gambling activity appear to be transparent and free from tweaks or cheating. On a normal basis, if a gambler should pick a particular number on a die for a roll for example,  if the gambler should pick a single number, the odds of him winning in just one toss or spin is about 1/6 or 16.67% . So in such a case if there is cheating of any kind against the gambler's odds , that winning odds will be reduced more than that.
Therefore, no gambler would want to tolerate or take chances that any roll or spin in such a game is rigged. So a transparent die would make them less worried about drop in their odds of winning.
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you preffer your dealer talkative or not? on: January 24, 2024, 02:57:38 AM
What do you think about this all? Do you like your dealer talkative or not?
And if you prefer the dealer being talkative, would you mind if they made up some story just to keep talking? Or would you prefer even that over silence?

I do like dealer with talkative why because when I bored I used to hear they talk, something about live something just small jokes, Im considered my self as introvert so Im not going to talk with strange but since the live gambling like blackjack is I just hear and the dealer that only talk that is totally fine for me.

Liking the talking of the dealer is something that could depend a little on the kind of person the gambler is in terms of aspects such as introversy. Some persons like a talkative dealer because it makes the gamble seem more like a fun and interactive game than just a profit minded game. Some persons could even be of the opinion that   talkative dealers could affect their thoughts during that period of time in a positive manner.
Others may see it as a distraction that could hinder their winning odds. This is because of the fact that probably these set of persons prefer a silent environment to help them calculate better.

536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Explain Bitcoin to A Second Grader in Four Sentences? on: January 22, 2024, 02:32:12 PM
Why stress kids by bugging them with Crypto?
Sometimes we tend to be too hard on kids that we stress them out by bugging them with complex stuff like crypto like come on let them enjoy their childhood. Lol Grin Grin
Anyways I came across this interesting cartoon that explains the whole economy and Bitcoin concept sometime ago. I even enjoyed watching it with some of my kid relatives and they loved it too.
Here is the link to the video

537  Other / Meta / Use of AI on Bitcoin talk on: January 22, 2024, 11:38:33 AM
The use of AI on Bitcoin talk is against the rules of this forum . Of course part of the rules on this forum is not to make use of AI to generate posts or to use AI copied text as your own or original text. But how strict is it?

Posts appear more presentable here when proper paraphrasing and punctuations are used. Unfortunately, not everyone here on Bitcoin talk is a native English speaker or writer hence some persons may find some difficulties paraphrasing or punctuating their write-ups.

Now why did I create this thread?
Recently I came across a post in the beginners and help section by a newbie whose English was not ok. Now what drove me into thinking was the reply of one of the forum's most reputable member; BlackHatCoiner. Here was his reply ;
Re: New member as you notice there he mentioned the op rather use an AI to punctuate his posts than leave them poorly structured.

Now my confusion is Although the forum says not to use AI content does that mean that paraphrasing or punctuating with AI is allowed?
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: January 21, 2024, 07:26:05 AM

This is what I would definitely call a wrong motivation. Of course some persons may perceive it as a fun but the fact is this particular write up will mislead a lot of newbie gamblers into staking irresponsibly and even into addiction. For those that are already addicts, it will only give them more reason to remain as addicts.
In my opinion, articles of this nature are not to be shared or published either for the fun or joke of it because of its misleading information. Some people may see it as fun and joke over it while others may take it seriously and put it into practice.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto gambling and religious restrictions on: January 21, 2024, 07:16:02 AM
Does saying gambling is a sin for Christians and Haram for Muslims make individuals of these religions quit gambling? I do not think so. There is a moral stand in everything, and every gambling person should allow this to guide them. If you are gambling and wasting time, life, career, relationships, mental health, finances, then you should have a conversation with yourself. Outside of the religious restrictions, there should be a personal restriction.

Definitely gambling is a moral based choice and activity. When it comes to gambling as a value, it is perceived as a wrong act simply because a majority of people see it as one.
As for the religious aspects it is unethical to blame a religion against gambling , although a majority of them are against it.

Although gambling is a moral choice, a person who worships under a religion against it is not expected to gamble. This is because if he does he is not a person of that religion but rather someone who cloaks himself under the religion. Besides every religion has its rules so if a person ignores them, it simply means he is not for that religion , but rather he is in pretence under that religion.
540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: January 21, 2024, 07:03:52 AM
In my opinion a lot of gambling activities require more of luck and calculations. Some others like soccer predictions can most of the time require experience but the odds of winning are still luck dependent. Even virtual games are still luck based but most people can perceive it as a game of patience but it actually isn't.

It is common for people to wish they staked more when they win and same thing happens when playing a virtual game . People will also wish they waited a little longer when they lost so they would have won. It is also logical to find someone that would also say it's good to be swift when gambling because they cashed out quickly before the odds turned against their favour.
