521  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: June 12, 2018, 07:43:49 PM
I certainly understand the logic for this system. But it's going to be extremely hard for legitimate people to rank up. While those who have connections...
But I truly understand the logic behind it all. I just hope to get the ten merit points that I need. But I just don't see people putting that extra work even if they liked a comment. They'll just move on to the next.

If you make an awesome work, you can get 20 merit points with only 1 post, we have many examples in meta section. However, people having 1000 posts with #reserved #join will not get any smerit for sure.
522  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-06-10] A Small Village in Russia has Successfully Adopted Its own Cryptocu on: June 12, 2018, 01:38:10 PM
Successfully adopting its own cryptocurrency is an easy step however I am still wondering how farmers (no offense but i suppose most of them are poor) could collect $500,000 in their ICO.
The hardest part is to be add to many exchanges first and to keep using "Kolion" daily.
We will see how things will be after few months.

I doubt that are planning to list it on exchanges. Altcoins are very easy to manipulate by big group of traders if it is available on excanges and it will ruin the purpose of the "Kolion" coin that made to be only used by their small community.

Absolutely, what you said is correct but that's what I read in the article, you can buy that coin in exchanges (if there will be any) or by doing some farmers' work.
KYC check-up before buying the coin? Not feasible tho..
523  Other / Meta / Re: How do you upload a photo on bitcointalk.org???? on: June 12, 2018, 01:25:16 PM
Can newbie upload photo?

Can newbies ever read the previous posts before asking an already answered question?
524  Other / Meta / Re: How do you upload a photo on bitcointalk.org???? on: June 11, 2018, 08:33:43 PM
I think this should be changed. Some new accounts may be for active blockchain members who are just new to this forum—and they have to reach 30 posts very much for no reason.

Did it work after reaching 30 posts?

To view your uploaded images you need to have to be a junior member = 30 ACTIVITY (more info about ranks and activity : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0) or you can buy copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385104)

We don't want terrorist scam shit posters spamming this forum.
Look to who is talking about shit posting and spamming and using the word terrorism to describe a bunch of people is disgusting... To the ignore list forever.

-snip-
Had the same remark and i was almost to post the same thing, pretty much if their "discussion" topic will continue like this, it will end up like the Vietnamese...locked. Besides, using "urgently" in the title will make things just worse.

527  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Paypal "following me in my dream" on: June 11, 2018, 01:45:42 PM
Not sure if I'm missing something, but wouldn't this "hack" be doable with any site that has 2fa?
If you your mail hacked, the hacker can create an account on any site and add his own phone.
I don't see what paypal has to do with it.
The problem with PayPal is that it complicates simple things. If you want to report an abuse, you should be able doing it easily not by using hidden features... I compared how easily I fixed the Netflix problem in less than 10 minutes while took me an hour to contact them and 10 hours to get the account restricted.

What prevents someone from registering with your real name and with his own email?
Nothing. But in this case if you don't have any clue, then you will have 0 stress Wink

this is a good site to check your mail address occasionally: https://haveibeenpwned.com/
Yep, thanks for remembering me about it, the result is negative as expected and I am almost sure that I wasn't hacked however I changed my password that day.
528  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Paypal "following me in my dream" on: June 10, 2018, 09:33:18 AM
Excuse my naivety, but you have no PayPal account, someone created an account with your mail an ordered services. I don´t clearly understand how are you going to get in any trouble or loss any money. None of your cards or payment methods are associated with the account, so... Now what?

Well, the used email is a professional one so it wasn't known by many people and it has my full name.
The fact that someone registered in PayPal + Netflix under your name + your location + add a payment credit card + phone number close to those which was used by me (have to check both since I changed the 2 several times) means that I was hacked which is unlikely to happens or that someone is playing a dirty game.
For Netflix i fixed the issue in few minutes and since the trial period was activated, I cannot use it in the future...it isn't a big problem anyway.
For PayPal it took me more than an hour to find a way to proceed and fix it. Now imagine someone buying an illegal thing (might be a legal thing in his country) and ship it to my country? I will get in trouble and will have to convince the authorities that it wasn't me who did it while I have the access to the email + a correct name + address! It will be an awkward moments Undecided
Maybe my reaction was exaggerated but the fact that you see your correct name + email + location used by a third party without knowing the reason behind it is kinda messy, paypal has to verify its customer to prevent this scammy behaviour.
529  Other / Meta / Re: theymos and Cyrus please check PM on: June 09, 2018, 09:08:28 PM
Does Cyrus ever reply? I doubt if he does, series of messages I sent were never replied.

Personally I would answer 2-3 pms from time to time but if I get 10 pms daily then absolutely no, the best thing i could do is to let it laying in my box and try to solve the problem of hundreds of pms one by one...
2 persons having their ordinary life couldn't satisfy the needs of thousands of active users.
530  Other / Meta / Re: Please make Vod , a moderator of btctalk or he will tarnish new sellers image. on: June 09, 2018, 08:11:41 PM

It means negative. And it's faster to write.

What, by 0.8 seconds?
-0.4 seconds if you use Grammarly. I mean you just have to write 'negive' and it auto-corrects it. #JustSaying
So now we're somehow against efficiency here?

And it depends on how quickly you type.

I just need to write "neg" here and SwiftKey do the rest so 0.3 sec max if writing fast (and you boys including meh ruined that pathetic topic, hillary you should delete our posts).
531  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Paypal "following me in my dream" on: June 09, 2018, 12:25:28 PM
and have ridiculous highway robbery level fees.   Warning to everyone, don't use it Smiley

Agree with this. You were lucky to find his id, this method was working fluently before but now fake ids is the commodity.
What made me really angry apart the fact that my name was used to create the account is that i didn't find any way to contact them apart from calling the phone number that they provided which i will not use.
Figuring out this privacy trick to send the message solved my issue finally, i received an email today and they restricted the account as I proposed until the imposter provide my personal informations which will never happens.
The shitty part is that I don't know what he bought exactly in "wish" but I assume ~$20 cannot buy a missile so I will just forget it and this shitty experience.
532  Other / Serious discussion / Paypal "following me in my dream" on: June 08, 2018, 11:36:38 PM
I do hate PayPal so much.
My brother had a bad experience with it in the past (5 years ago? or more not sure) and now it is my turn but mind you, I didn't create any account in it!!!
I received lately 3 emails from them, the first to confirm my email associated with their account, of course i didn't create the account so I assume someone knowing my professional email (not the one I used in bitcointalk) and he is trolling it all over the web from Netflix (which I changed the password, logged out all the devices and disabled the offer easily) to PayPal.
Second mail is about a payment in wish(dot)com and it is the first time being aware about this trashy service (not recommended crappy goods afaik from the feedbacks) and the third email about PayPal one touch (what the hell is this also!).
Rage mode 1, i tried to write an email to them but I need to log in!!! I don't have the password since I didn't create the account!, I pressed forgot password but I need to confirm with the phone number which isn't mine obviously!!!
The hell am i playing maze with them or running in a loop! I don't want to (lose ma moneh) call them so i figured out a way to send them a message using some privacy or dunno what's the correct name exactly...
The best part is receiving a confirmation mail that they will look on this issue and they will call me in 24 hours... We will see!
I have now to prove that the account having my name in it and in the email isn't mine and ask them to block it and to ask the impersonator to prove his identity... This is ridiculous.
Save the panda and the penguin, don't ever use this crappy service that make your life harder even if you don't have any contact with it.

Edit : moving it here to avoid spam in the off-topic.
Edit 2 : forgot to add to use Bitcoin or any shitcoins rather than using RapePal.
533  Other / Meta / Re: activity calculator on: June 08, 2018, 04:56:27 PM
No, you have to have at least 1 post per 2 weeks to be able to gain activity.
Better to report him/it than answering him/it. The effort made to find this old topic and not reading it or not taking a look on the active sticky topics is questionable!

BTW, 1 topic, 3x resurrected by necro posts... How wonderful. Lock it maybe mods?
534  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies can now pay a small fee to enable images on: June 08, 2018, 10:21:41 AM
What are the criterias to become Copper Member?

It isn't mandatory. It is your choice to wait until your rank increases or you just need to pay a fee If you want to have some restrictions lifted as a newbie like showing images in your posts + those :
Quote
- reduced signature styling restrictions.
-"you must wait ____ seconds between ___" counter is reduced by 75%.
535  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-06-07] Indian Crypto Exchanges Engage with RBI to Offer Banking Ban Altern on: June 08, 2018, 09:44:57 AM
I believe the RBI didn't allow fiat(rupee only?)-to-cryptocurrencies trading.
One of the solution was to move to crypto-crypto trading which was done by few exchanges however other solutions could be trading crypto with other fiat ($,€,¥...) if it is allowed or trading it with gold, silver or even with goods (creating online shopping that accepts crypto payments +++), i find the last one as a good alternative and very profitable if it works as intended.
536  Other / Meta / Re: Shall we limit the bounty zone for members+? on: June 07, 2018, 09:42:56 PM
It was suggested before many times for several boards, some members even suggested to limit newbies activity in the beginners and help board.
Pretty sure theymos is aware of those suggestions so no need to resurrect the same discussions over and over Wink
Please lock the topic.
537  Other / Meta / Re: Ukrainian local board on: June 07, 2018, 09:34:25 PM
InvoKing,
as a Legendary member (who supports this topic) may be you can tell us, why there is not decision?
Because it really looks that either forum administration has not time (which is hard to believe as this is the question of forum development) or it is politically biased (It would be very sad in this case)

How to move this topic further?

You (Ukrainians) need to convince staff members and theymos essentially that you deserve a new local board, by being active in your local topic in other languages/locations (not spamming+++), by making good quality posts and preferably by having at least 1 good member that has the potential/requirements to become a local mod.
It will take too much time but you have to wait and keep being active in order to have what you are looking for. Good luck.
(For my rank it hasn't any advantages imo for staff members)
538  Other / Meta / Re: Why can't we build mobile version of Bitcointalk? on: June 07, 2018, 07:43:31 PM
You will get used to it after a while so don't worry.
I don't recommend login with any third party app and I would personally change my login details if done..
Solution : wait for the new forum version. (if we will stay alive to see it /s  ; /i like this one <3)
539  Other / Meta / Re: Browser forgetting Login after a certain amount of time? on: June 07, 2018, 07:39:46 PM
Hi jackg, I don't know if I experienced the same case you have or not but I always loose my connection in mobile once I connect with my pc and vice versa even if always login was checked. Same goes if I connect with 2 different browsers in the same device, i have to re-enter my login details again.
540  Other / Archival / Test - testing if my post count will decrease by moving to serious discussion on: June 07, 2018, 07:23:38 PM
Actual post count : 2076

To be edited 1 : After posting in archival : 2077 (2082 total), cannot delete the topic in archival although no one saw it.

To be edited 2 : After moving to serious discussion : 2076 (2082 total), Ouep definitely this post doesn't count here.

To be edited 3 : After moving to ivory tower : same results as serious discussion. Ok good back to archival again. Ps: i can delete the post again out of archival.

Reason for doing this experiment :
Quote
- Posts in Serious Discussion only activate a potential-activity period. They do not increase your post count.
 - Posts in Ivory Tower neither activate a potential-activity period nor increase your post count.
