521  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 10, 2014, 04:58:57 AM
Was idling in #mtgox just now, it seems MtGox is still charting 5% for "expedited" withdrawals. So they are still providing this service. Of course I learned this because someone who paid this extortion fee is wondering why he's "expedited" withdraw isn't showing up, but they do claim to still provide this "service".

btw it's lunchtime Tokyo already, so time is running out for that lying fat man at MtGox to announce that he's too incompetent to fix the BTC withdraw problem and that they need more time.

Idling in mIRC is right. I have 20 channels open with 100 people in each and no one has said anything.

I found mine in there too! So how do we get out of the bad transx log and into the good one? Any thoughts?

Hey all,

I'm looking for some help tracking down two transactions from MtGox (BTC withdrawals). I have two tx hashes for transactions, one of which was successful, the other which was unsuccessfully. I tried using http://skanner.net/MtGox/mtgox_tx.php but it's not finding any of my failed transaction hashes. What's the best way to confirm whether a transaction was successful? These two transactions are for the same amount of BTC and to the same address, so it's hard to tell which actually failed and which succeeded. Any advice?

I currently have 3 withdrawals from MtGox that are stuck in limbo. They total over 3 BTC; one has been in limbo since 01/30/2014, the other two since 02/04/2014. I know I'm not the only one that's facing this issue but just wanted to mention.

I typed an address into that site you linked to and it didn't return anything, what's that all about...

I tried a 10 BTC withdrawal getting nervous about gox, on 1./28 and it hit the blockchain instantaneously so I was pleased and then wad reading more scary news and posts tonight so I went for the remaining amount (about the same) and it's not on the blockchain or in my transfer wallet.

I'm pretty scared what I am reading that it's over. My version of a 10,000 coin pizza perhaps.... I hope not, but this kind of horrible shit does happen.

I've had a request for a $1k USD withdrawal (wire to US checking acct) since Dec. 1, 2013. For awhile it sat in "pending" where it was cancelable . It has since disappeared from the pending and is now in no man's land. Obviously, no funds have been received. I transferred some coins out of Gox since I am getting very concerned with their business. The coin transfer hit instantaneously, which is good news, but as an international fiat business they are basically completely dead, IMO. FWIW.

Also, I know a JPY citizen so I'd be interested in buying here (e.g., coinbase) and selling there, IFF they actually are transferring money internally, which seems to be questionable. If anyone is getting JPY out it would be great if you could tell me which fincancial institution you could recommend.

I also had a strange problem with the wallet. Starts syncing, makes it up to 500 blocks and stops. The next time I start the app it goes for another 500, and so on... The problem was a small difference between server time and the time on my PC (just a few seconds). Synced the time with some internet clock and it started working normally.

didn't work for me. My comp is already set to sync to internet time anyways. Oh well.

my particle client isn't syncing with the network...  Huh

Did you add "addnode" lines to your particle.conf file? That usually solves the problem. There's an example of particle.conf in the main post in this thread.

I'm not trying to mine, I just mean I open particleqt.exe and it doesn't begin downloading the blockchain. Here is the error from the debug log:
trying connection 192.241.214.176:8779 lastseen=77.0hrs
connection timeout

536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coin split-block mechanics on: January 19, 2014, 09:17:12 PM
It would be interesting to try it though. Do you know how to code the node clients in that way?
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / coin split-block mechanics on: January 19, 2014, 08:18:34 PM
Is it possible to release a coin that functions with a block reward being split? For example, where some pre-determined % of the block going to the miner as usual and the remainder goes to a pre-determined public address? Is there an alt-coin that exists already that operates this way?
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Fedoracoin - The Community is Taking Over [MAIN] on: January 19, 2014, 08:14:27 PM
I tried sending this to the pool contact but I got a "email cannot be sent" so I wanted to post it here and see if anyone can help me?
 Huh Huh Huh Huh  ====>

I tried fedora windows XP cpu mining with cgminer-3.7.2 and this bat file line:
cgminer-nogpu.exe -o stratum+tcp://stratum+tcp://fedora.my-pool.in:3333 -u <me.worker> -p <pass> -I 11

which didn't work. Clicking on the .bat file essentially flash-opens a cmd window and then it dies immediately. I also tried minerd.exe with the same .bat and that didn't work either.

I tried fedora's "enlgihten" in the client. There is no support provided for setting this up in 'Getting Started' section [of any pools, really], so I tried various server names. When I click 'start mining' it says "Mining error" and delivers this in the debug window for all server names attempted:

minerd --algo scrypt --scantime 99 --url stratum+tcp://fedora.my-pool.in:333 --userpass <ME:me> --threads 99 --retried -1 -P

Is the pool down or is anyone having no success with this?

$1k USD withdrawal initiated on 12-1-13 (to a US checking account). Has not arrived.
540  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Time to start thinking about taxes on: January 16, 2014, 06:27:43 PM
Well, after reading through all of this I'm going to throw out there that I'm going with capital gains (long term in my case) for 2013. The IRS is still "researching cryptocurrencies" so until they provide guidance I'm taking the 'report and be consistent' approach. For me personally the cap gains is essentially tax free because I had losses in a start-up I invested in, so it's going to net to below 0, and had I gone with the bitcoin-as-a-currency classification (income) I would owe a high tax rate and not capture the cap gains netting benefit. If the IRS doesn't like it they can provide guidance or re-calculate it for me I guess.

steverabincpa what do you think?
