521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TRULY Custom RAM Timings for GPU's with GDDR5 on: March 24, 2017, 02:53:00 PM
I wrote a program to do it: https://github.com/OhGodACompany/OhGodATool -- OhGodAnOffset

Check out Overclock.net forum.
There are some threads there that'll get you a long way to be able to add global offset.
You basically have to find the voltage table (you can find this easily with atombiosreader)
Open your rom in a hexeditor, find that table, (For a lot of Sapphire models, the VDDC offset is already there) 00 8D 00 ** 00

And the masters come to the rescue. Thank you guys for all that you do for the community Smiley Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day, teach him to fish, and he's fed for life.
522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TRULY Custom RAM Timings for GPU's with GDDR5 on: March 24, 2017, 11:13:18 AM
Yea I got a batch of Samsung based reference saph 470s and manually added the offsets, but for some reason the gpu would not post with the offset added. Weird cause offsets on Hynix/micron cards worked fine. Never had time to investigate this.

What location were you adding the offsets at? Because I don't think they can be added at A992 for cards that dont already have a programmed offset built in.
Maybe the learned folk on this thread could shed some light on how to go about adding an offset location to a bios that doesn't have one.
523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What should i take note when building a mining Rig? (What's Important) on: March 24, 2017, 11:09:59 AM
Alright so i browse through multiple forum and read some reviews.

Bold hardware is important

CPU: Intel Pentium G4560
MOBO: Gigabyte H110M-WW
RAM: GSKill AEGIS 8GB DDR4 2133mhz
GPU: Gigabyte GTX1050TI 4GB DDR5
Case: EsuperCase with 450W PSU
SSD: Intel 540S 120GB SSD

Quote
1) As a starter, can this spec do good in mining? Not looking for huge profit, just wanted to learn up something
If you are building a pc for regular use, and want to look at mining using it, then yes these components are fine. If you are buliding a pc specifically for mining then you have selected all the wrong components.
Quote
2) Other than the hardware in bold text, what should i take note?
The motherboard is the most important component, and you need one that can support multiple PCIe cards. The board you have selected can run a maximum of two, and you would need a powered riser to get the 2nd card running. See if you can get the Biostar TB250 or one of the several Z170 options mentioned in these forums.
Then for mining you need to get cards that ROI fast, so something like a 4GB RX 470. The 1050Ti is not nearly as good at crypto. You can not do a mining rig ina  regular case. You need a higher capacity power supply, assume 150W per GPU. The Intel SSD is waaay to expensive to justify its place in a mining system.
Quote
3) Do i need water cooling for this set up if i wanted to run 24/7?
No.
Quote
4) If i wanted to add 2 more Rx480 4GB, an upgrade to 750W PSU Is enough for that? And if i do this, what i should take note?
Yes, a 750W PSU is enough for upto 4 GPU's. But the RX 480 4GB is poor value, the RX 470 4GB or RX 480 8GB are really the only two good options
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: March 24, 2017, 10:53:25 AM
I´m using an Asrock H81M. Both 5V Power Plugs are connected..

1) Asrock H81M is a miniATX board, and has only two PCIe slots, so no, that is not the board that you are using. What you have could be the Asrock H81 ProBTC or Asrock H81 ProBTC V2
2) Those arent 5V plugs, they are molex power plugs which can draw upto 12V. And you should not have them plugged in when using RX 470/480 cards.
3) Again, go through the forum threads, every answer you need already exists there. Please have the patience to read through hundreds of pages and try 10's of settings, we all did it.

Yes, sure, you are right. H81 BTC Pro 2.0. And in the documentation was a comment, when using more then 3 Video Cards, you have to plugg in at min, one Molex Power connector, but better both. So i thought, i have to.
Please believe me. I´m doing nothing else, then reading. I´m sick at home and i´ve a lot of time. But i also have a lot of qustions..
But you gave me hope, that there is a solution for my issue:-)

Regards,
Rosi

Are u using powered usb risers?
If you are please UNPLUG the 4-pin connector that goes from your PSU to your mobo before u fry anything...

If you are NOT using powered usb risers then ok keep the 4-pin molex in

He's not going to - please stop giving bad advice. Powered USB risers are cut - they don't connect the power from the mobo to the GPU.

That's not what i said
I never said he will fry the GPU
But he CAN fry the risers

Using an Asrock h81 pro btc with powered risers PLUS 4-pin molex connectors is an overkill

Giving too much power to the mobo (main mobo cable plus 4-pin molex) when it's not needed is not good

You HAVE to give the mobo that 4-pin, or it won't work with all PCI-E slots filled. Plus, having the extra power is NOT going to fry the risers. Power doesn't work like that.

OK then i will TAKE A PHOTO of ALL my rigs that have x6 GPU's (ALL 6 PCI-E slots filled) mainly 480's (i have other setups also) WITHOUT any molex 4-pin connected that work perfectly for months
and post it here...(after i get home that is)

PS. I am using ethOS but Windows 10 works as good without problems

Then I'm guessing you changed something in the Mobo BIOS - I have an H97 Anniversary (basically the same board), and it complains.

The H81 ProBTC I remember had issues with 6 cards, but the V2 fiexs that problem. You do not need the molex connectors on the board at all, unless using unpowered Risers and non RX 470/480 cards. both of which no newbie ever uses.

526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI z270 MB for +7 GPU's on: March 23, 2017, 06:29:57 PM
when using 8 or more gpu rigs, do you split psus? Lets say I've 8 Rx 480, But my psu has only 6 gpu connectors. Each cable has two gpu plugs but one of plugs is 6pin. How do you handle this?

Yes but you can use 2 +750w which is alot cheaper than one big monster psu. They is if you run 8 RX470 4g

Yeah ... good luck running 8 GPU's on one motherboard.
527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: March 23, 2017, 04:18:23 PM
Hmmm, now i´m a little bit in panik, to ask my question:-(
I´ve gotten my 5th RX470 today. I have 2 X 750CM+80 Corsair. OS can´t install the driver for the 5. card. doesn´t matter wich one it is.
Is there might be a limitation in Window 7 proff.? All Cards are working fine, as long as they are not the  last one, installed.

What motherboard are you using?
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate RX 470 on: March 23, 2017, 04:14:29 PM
this memory hynix or elpidia???
As mentioned, its Samsung memory
Did you used the 1625 or 1750 timings ? Any other modifications?
I used the 1625 strap for 30+ but the result wasn't very stable for me. I currently stick to lower clocks at 1125/1950 and 28mh/s.
2025 mem clock for samsung seems a bit low, especially for 30.2mhs.. So I'm guessing he used 1625.. I have been using 1750 but this makes me consider switching to 1625.. thoughts?
2025 seems low??? Wow man you must have really good chips, these are clocked at 1750 at stock so that's an OC of 275. Some cards were stable at this speed, and some werent, so I backed off to lower power stable
settings 1125/1950.
529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v8.1 (Windows/Linux) on: March 23, 2017, 02:19:01 PM
I have a curious problem on one machine that has been hashing flawlessly for almost 8 months now.

One RX 470 4Gb just dropped to 14mh/s from the regular 27mh/s. And no matter what I do it, reset BIOS, change clocks, increasing volts, DDU wipe, it just wont go back up. On a system reset it sometimes starts hashing at 18 but settles back at 14 in a few rounds.

Could it be a dying card? Has anyone ever encountered a card going bust such that its hashing continues but at a lowered rate?
530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [DEVICE] SimpleRigResetter - Auto reboot freezed rigs - AVAILABLE NOW !!! on: March 23, 2017, 10:15:16 AM
@tytanick

-also those biostar boards that have that stupid bug where they only power on half way unless a monitor is plugged in, do those work with the resetter or does a monitor need to be plugged in or a dummy plug?

Just curious, what cards are you referring to here?
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: March 23, 2017, 04:18:55 AM
This is great and as a new miner I look forward to this, but I think all will be hesitant on price point.  At this point you can charge what you want, no competition, so if price is right and not higher than replacing your multi switching PCI board with multiple motherboards it will probably be worth it.  You could argue the price you spend on other gear like PSU's but that's already handled by Finsky. If you sell your board separate it will better than a full blown setup that is more than what most new miner's will pay for. Gotta quit teasing and release.

I for one disagree. If the cost of setting up a 16 card system with his solution is lower than setting up two 6 and one 4 card systems like he his aiming for, I see absolutely no reason for price to be an issue.
Also I would LOVE to see a bundle that includes Finsky or Jabberwock's server PSU + nanoPSU + Cables bundled with this because this is the absolute best use case for the 2k PSU's and this is a complete quick deploy package.
Its not like you can just buy the board and run it without a power supply, and server PSU is the cheapest way to get it up and running so might as well buy them together.
In any case, bottom line is what everyone keeps saying "Quit Teasing and get Releasing" Tongue
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TRULY Custom RAM Timings for GPU's with GDDR5 on: March 23, 2017, 04:06:52 AM
Seems like the samsung one doesn't have global offset.

Stock roms with global offset have either '03' +18.75mV value or '04' +25mV as VDDC offset.
I've never seen something else, or rather negative offset.. and i've opened up a lot of them ;-) 'But correct me if i'm wrong..'

Greetings.

Thank you Good sir.

Is nobody willing to help me with my AMD Radeon RX470 Nitro 4GB OC.. I triied everything..Flashing, Wattman, Sapphire Trixx..
Doesn´t matteer what i do, it is always getting worster, then better. I getting 640 Hash per card and one of these cards seems to be anpthe model. Looking a little bit different. Power Supply is on the Top, not on the back and she has other RAM, not Samsung ans is 1236 - 1750 takted. And she is slower. only 580 Hash. Is there something i can do?

RFegards,
Scandalrosi

Rule 1 : Do not flash a BIOS that someone uploaded because more than likely it will not be for your exact card, and it will make things worse not better. So use PBE to mod memory straps on your own bios.
Rule 2 : Do not hardcode clocks into the card untill you have tested the card thoroughly with regular OC to figure out what clocks are stable on it.
Rule 3 : Stability is far more important than peak performance, go for the settings that get you 48+ hours stable over peak perf settings.
Rule 4 : There's a gazillion guides with detail step by step tutorials on how to overclock your card, please search for them before blaming the community, this isnt school, you do not get individual attention anymore.
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: March 23, 2017, 03:57:09 AM
just a long shot but could it be something to do with the "headless" implementation in smOS?

What do you mean "headless" implementation? As far as I can tell the headless issues are due to the motherboard bios and have nothing to do with the OS?
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TRULY Custom RAM Timings for GPU's with GDDR5 on: March 22, 2017, 09:09:41 PM
Kinda OT since this is a RAM Timings thread, but ill ask this anyways :

For Sapphire RX 470 4GB (Ref) cards GPU Core Volt offset is at A992 correct?
Now for the cards with Hynix memory, I find the default 04 which is 4 X 6.25 or +25mv, which seems legit.
But for the cards with Samsung memory, the value at A992 is FF which is -1 X 6.25 or -6.25mv, so something looks off.
Do different memory versions of the card have different default offset values? Or is the location different?

Any help/guidance would be appriciated.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Starting with a mining rig - Need suggestions for power? on: March 22, 2017, 07:18:13 PM
will a 1000 watt psu like the EVGA supernova be enough for 5* 480 rig?

How about 6* 470?

For 5 cards? Easily. For 6? I would recommend undervolting. But I have been running 6 cards at stock speeds/volts on the RM1000X with no problems, drawing about 950W per system.
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Definitive list 1151 board supporting 6+ GPU and low power Kaby Lake CPUS on: March 22, 2017, 07:15:53 PM
So once some nominations start appearing that are sub $100, or at least under $150, then we can all cheer and move on. The upcoming Biostar TB250 may be a start depending upon its retail price, but from the looks of it I am sure it will be closer to the $100 range than $450. http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=865

I got Quoted about $100 for it, and availability is promised by first week April (albeit in Asia, dunno about NA).
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: March 22, 2017, 05:21:16 PM
ok last teaser for you guys I promise  Grin

Oh quit teasing already man, I've had a boner for 8 days now Tongue

yes it will & can run splitter, you can run 7 gpu but you MUST have enough power to power all 7 gpu

Thanks man, but out of stock before I could get em Sad did you buy them all again? Tongue

@ deadsix - I have a splitter board, but it didn't work with my ASROCK H81.  Maybe I have a bad one?  They're not cheap so I'm not really sure if it's worth it to buy it just to have 1 more GPU slot and increase the odd of another piece failure and causing issue?  Are you able to get them for less than $25?

No I bought one for $26, took forever to get to me, but it works with my H81 Pro BTC V2. Did you change PCIe to Gen1? I don't think I needed to change anything else to get it to work.
I'm actually building a 4U case that I would sell with risers/splitter motherboard/cpu/ram/ssd/PSU mounted/fixed, everything except the cards, so I wanted to be sure if I should make it a 6 or a 7 card design. The Asrock H81 increases cost because of the headless display adapter so I wanted to go with the TB85 to keep costs low.
I will be mass producing these since there is a lot of demand in my country and noone knows where to get most of the components, and I have access to a laser cutting/machining shop.
539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: March 22, 2017, 03:00:57 PM
same over here, more stuffs are coming soon too . . . lots of running around to do. bz days ahead building rigs for the local community.

some gpus unboxed, another 80+ more to come . . . unboxing can be really tiring, lot's of different types of screws & hex for building rigs

happy mining to all

You guys are living a nerd's dream Cheesy

One more question about the TB85, has anyone tried the 1x3 PCIe splitter with it? Were you able to run 7 cards with it? If someone has a TB85 and a 1X3 splitter lying around, could you please try and let us know, it would help. The ASROCK H81 Pro BTC V2 works with the splitter and you can run 7 GPU on that board, and if the TB85 can do too, minus the Asrock's headless bug, it would be the new king of mining boards.
540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Biostar TB250 - Kaby Lake 6 slot PCIe Mining Motherboard on: March 22, 2017, 02:57:02 PM
i heart that user needs to also configure his/her software(operating system&drivers) for using more than 4+ card at windows 10.
is that right ?

Not on these mining boards, these are pretty much plug and play.
