521  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Heads up cool bitcoin stuff auction at Scarce.City on: January 11, 2024, 11:10:51 PM
I love seeing different outlets selling these collectibles.  I mean between scare and auction houses such as Heritage and Stacks starting to market this stuff, it's taken the hobby to a whole new level.  That said when it comes to scarce, for the love of god make a better website.  The site is too difficult to navigate and just a pain to use over all.  I've placed a few bids on there and was turned off entirely by the whole experience.  Just my 2.  Thx for sharing!
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon said he would close Bitcoin down if he was in government on: January 11, 2024, 11:07:11 PM
See that's the funny thing or irony of the whole situation.  Jamie has continuously bashed bitcoin and cryptocurrency yet his company created their own cryptocurrency coin as well as doing things such a filing for an ETF.  The main is a massive hypocrite on top of being one of the worlds biggest scumbags.  I can't stand this piece of human filth.

Banks are only interested in Bitcoin's core Blockchain tech. Not the cryptocurrency itself. JP Morgan has been experimenting with its own version of the ETH blockchain for the implementation of its very own cryptocurrency/token. Yet, Jamie Dimon criticizes Bitcoin as being a cryptocurrency used for criminal activities. If that's the case, why care about Blockchain tech at all? Pure hypocrisy like you've said.

Eventually, these bankers will launch a CBDC with the government to proceed with their plan of a "global reset". The rich will become richer, and the poor, poorer. Once CBDCs rule the world, we should expect a full blanket ban for decentralized cryptocurrencies like BTC and ETH. At least, in the future. Lets all enjoy the spot ETFs hype while it lasts. Grin

Ehh I certainly agree that they are mostly interested in the blockchain technology and how this could be implemented in to their systems and how it could improve things, but banks tend to be interested in anything they can make money on.  I have no doubts that Chase financial adivsors will start putting people in to bitcoin ETFs.  As an FA who hears from clients all the time on bitcoin, they want to own it and they want to own it as safely and easily as possible so an ETF where they don't have to worry about the key control, will be extremely enticing.  Can't wait to see how Jamie reacts to this.  He certainly wont stop it, if there's money to be made, he's there for it.
523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you willing to bet $50 spin for a chance to win $42 million? on: January 11, 2024, 11:02:53 PM
This is no different than playing the Lotto here in the United States.  There's both a federal or nationwide lotto as well as each state has their own lotto.  I rarely ever play because the way I see it, the odds are so extremely low that I'd rather gamble my $5 or $10 on some sort of shitcoin with a potential to pump and dump.  I just see that as a better bet.  I guess it can't hurt throwing a few bucks at it, I mean you can't win unless you play right.
524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 11, 2024, 11:00:27 PM
I wouldn't call Ravens superbowl lock based on Lamar postseason history

I wouldn't call anyone a "lock" per say, I just can't see the Ravens or Niners not being in it.  Lamar is likely to be this years MVP, almost a certainly in fact, but I agree that he's not been the regular season MVP so much in the post-season.  Now I'm not sure I abide by this saying, but they do say "defense wins championships" and I believe the Ravens to have the best defense in the league, so that will certainly play a sizable role.
525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: January 11, 2024, 10:58:23 PM
I'm so ticked off at myself for not placing bets for the Golden Globes, so I'll definitely try and get on top of it for the Oscars. I knew that The Bear would take home some trophies, along with of course Succession as well as some of the other winners.  I've watch a lot more television and movies this year so I'm feeling confident I could place some solid bets.
526  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 10, 2024, 06:30:45 PM
lol your buddy, and no offense, doesn't sound like the brightest bulb in the pack.  I mean well yeah no shit the more you gamble the better chance you have at winning.  However it also means you've got a better chance at losing.  I think utilizing any strategy like this is a bet reckless.  You should gamble based off knowledge/odds etc, not how often you do so.
527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 10, 2024, 06:27:53 PM
It's really hard to imagine any other two teams in the super bowl outside of the Ravens and Niners.  I guess I could see the Chiefs or Cowboys potentially working their way in, but doubtful.  I have absolutely zero faith in the Dolphins, Bills or Eagles making it to the ship.  I just don't think any of those 3 teams play consistently enough.

Anyone else pissed off and annoyed that these Wild Card games are being played on Peacock?  I mean wtf man.  We already have Amazon taking over TNF, now we get more pay services bs with these Wild Card games.  I mean can the NFL really expect us not to seek streams for the game.  Not everyone can afford 10k different streaming platforms ( off topic but remember when we use to think that TV would turn in to this great "a la cart" platform.  Not only did that not happen, it's only gotten worse smh).
528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on favorites early in the week & underdogs late in the week strategy... on: January 10, 2024, 06:22:28 PM
I am by no means a professional gambler, and therefore I've certainly got plenty to learn (one of the reasons I like being active in this part of the forum).  I was recently listening to a gambling talk radio podcast and they were saying one basic rule of thumb to live by when sports betting is to bet favorites in the early part of the week and under-dogs in the later part of the week as the spread tends to favor this strategy.

So I'm just curious if the sports betters in here take this "rule of thumb" strategy seriously and tend to follow it.  Or if there's any experience that says this may not be all that great of a strategy.  Thoughts?
In as much as betting or placing a bet in the earlier part of the week doesn't or cannot alter the outcome of the match I am not bothered placing bet at that time though the odd or spread might be high what matter most to me is picking the sure bets a day before the matches for instance picking my bets weekend matches on Thursday and Friday while picking bets for midweek UCL matches on Sunday and Monday with the aim of accumulating the odds to 3.00 to 4.00 though as from now I will take a close observation of the odds if there are noticeable difference then I might start my pick very early to accumulate more odds.

You're missing the entire point.  This is also a sentiment that I've seen others post here. Yeah of course it has absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the match per say, it's all about utilizing a strategy to obtain better odds. I think everyone could agree that when placing sports bets, it's advantageous to get the best odds you can.  That's what this is all about.  People seem to be missing the point here.
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We dont own enough bitcoin on: January 10, 2024, 06:20:07 PM
"Lets face it, getting BTC is at this point more rewarding for the average person than buying Real Estate, Gold, Silver, Oil stock, etc".  I mean I guess this depends on when you bought it, but also I think it's important to know these are all apples and oranges as they are different types of investments.

It's been interesting seeing Kitco get so involved with bitcoin/crypto.  I do have to say however I've seen quite a few videos from them about the topic that were pretty ridiculous.  Hopefully they keep evolving in that manner as Kitco is a solid player of course in the precious metals space and have bought/sold with them a few times throughout the years.
530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon said he would close Bitcoin down if he was in government on: January 10, 2024, 06:17:23 PM
I've spoken about Jamie here quite a bit, and my opinion still stands.  Jamie Dimon should be rotting in a jail cell right now, however he runs one of the worlds largest and most profitable scams.  Just take a look at how much JP Morgan Chase has in fraud violations since the year 2000.  Nearly 40 BILLION dollars   https://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/jpmorgan-chase .  That's not a type.  This man is pure evil scum.  He doesn't like bitcoin because it goes against how he makes his millions.

That's the main reason why Jamie hates Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency's level of transparency would reveal his corruption to the public. With the USD, he can hide his activities without leaving any trace. Only the government will be able to know his tactics. I guess being a banker does have its benefits.

I'm yet to see what will be Jamie Dimon's reaction after spot ETFs are approved by the SEC. BlackRock already named JP Morgan as an "authorized participant" in its ETF application. Would he retract his comments of Bitcoin being a cryptocurrency used by criminals? Only time will tell us. I'd hold on tight as this is going to be a "bumpy" ride. Cheesy

Or was it money due to Craig Wright cough who is supposed to be Satoshi
https://twitter.com/Pledditor/status/1744168276991545740

The transaction's destination, 1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa, links back to the P2PKH address associated with the public key that received the genesis block reward

"Munches Popcorn" I think Legal Abandonment of Property would be a legal argument at this point

Someone just sent Satoshi's genesis wallet $1.2 mil. in BTC.

Why?? The only thing that makes any sense is that the sender is flushing Satoshi out.

Under the new IRS rules, you have to report  any receipt of crypto over $10k. So, Satoshi has to dox himself, OR break the law

That's IRS rule which only applies to those inside the United States.  I saw this as a buddy sent it to me the other day.  Really quite odd to be honest. I guess this person likely has a ridiculous amount of bitcoin and wanted to make news headlines and well he sure did as we can see here.  I doubt we will ever find out who did this and why, but who knows.

Hey guys, I'm having a hard time trying to find a website that hosts these fantasy playoff deals.  I want to say I use to do it on ESPN but not finding anything there.  Also it looks like NFL.com has discontinued it for some reason - https://support.nfl.com/hc/en-us/articles/4989089337500-Playoff-Challenge
 / https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasyfootball/comments/190b9bj/nflcom_playoff_challenge_discontinued/?rdt=45228 .

I will keep looking but perhaps if I can't find one, would you guys be interested in some sort of playoff knock out pool where we all make picks and whomever get the most right wins the pot ( we could do something like $5-25 or whatever).

At minimum we should do a Super Bowl squares challenge.  Here's how that works - https://www.superbowlsquares.org/how-to-play
535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈 NCAA College Football Bowl Games /Playoffs/Championship on: January 09, 2024, 04:58:47 PM
Anyone catch the game last night? Not the best college national championship game I've ever seen as Michigan completely dominated Washington for most of the game.  I am so pissed at myself.  I put down just a very small bet and had intended on putting more down on the money line. I got caught up making dinner and showering and didn't realize the game started as early as it did ( I was thinking it was going to start about 30mns later than it did).

Anyways a win is a win I suppose.  Just wish it was for a bit more lol

536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on favorites early in the week & underdogs late in the week strategy... on: January 09, 2024, 04:52:37 PM
I'm a little bit bothered to call this rule of thumb. I mean, something is considered rule of thumb because it is generally right or accurate, therefore widely accepted. But I highly doubt the accuracy of this strategy. Surely, sports bettors don't just place a bet based on which player or team is the favorite and which is the underdog. Actually, it's only now that I heard of this approach or strategy in sports betting. I'm also not a professional bettor myself, so I could have missed this strategy. But I guess, now that I've learned it, I still won't apply it on my bets.

Well it is generally accurate.  Not sure why you're bothered by it. I thought I'd open this discussion just to see how many here had been utilizing this strategy and what they've seen by doing so.  This is simply how Vegas odds tend to shift over the week, or over time depending on how far apart the match is for whichever sport you're betting on.  "But I guess, now that I've learned it, I still won't apply it on my bets"  Cheesy  I guess you're immune to legitimate gambling strategies?

Betting on favorites early and underdogs later in the week is a common rule of thumb in sports betting, but it's not a guaranteed strategy. Success often comes from a mix of stats, research, and staying flexible with changing team dynamics. Rather than sticking strictly to rules, it's good to be open-minded and adapt your approach based on what's happening. Finding your own groove through a bit of experimentation is part of the fun and challenge in sports betting.

Of course not, but certainly a decent common "rule of thumb" that could be useful.

It doesn't really matter the strategy you are using, everyday isn't a win day and they means that even with the best strategy you are not guaranteed of winning yet until you have won your game and it's been paid out they you can be sure for certain that your strategy worked and is a sure and good one.

Betting on the underdogs latter in the week usually comes with bigger odds meanwhile that of the bigger team reduces as the scheduled day new so if you want to take advantage of the odd then you are advised to make your stake over the week and then not waiting to the day scheduled for the game as by the they will definitely be slight change in the odds which are definitely dynamic. It's always good to explore odds before the scheduled day for the game if you want you possible win to be bigger.

This is honestly a pretty silly thing to say.  Yes, it does matter. Any edge you can gain can be extremely helpful.  Of course it doesn't guarantee a win, that's not the point.
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you actually think a Bitcoin ETF will be accepted this month? on: January 07, 2024, 08:53:25 PM
I saw just yesterday that there was a new update, some sort of "hurdle" was passed where it was a big step for bitcoin and all of the companies looking to bring a bitcoin ETF to the market.  Do I think it will pass this month? Perhaps. Perhaps not.  That said, it's coming, and I can almost guarantee that.  Blackrock, Vanguard etc all wanting to join in on this ..those companies quite literally run the planet.  They eventually get what they want.

are you talking about the filings by applicants of 8A registering their securities
and then the exchanges acknowledgements of 8A via 19b-4
those are the main last filings for exchanges acknowledging listings on their exchanges of securities. however some applicants still need to disclose some details to SEC like their fee's and basket amounts and shares per basket stuff which they have until the 8th jan to file

Sounds like you're way more versed about all of this than I am.  I just read an article on one of my bitcoin apps that discussed (and I believe I read this either yesterday or the day before) that a hurdle had been crossed for either or or more of these companies filing which of course brings us one step closer to actually getting them to market.   Thanks for providing all the details.
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mental rehabilitation clinic. on: January 07, 2024, 08:50:07 PM
Imagine that there is such a rehabilitation clinic for people who are addicted to gambling. Now imagine what they treat there without the use of pharmacology.
The main doctors there are gambling specialists, whose task is to convince you that you do not need to gamble. Your task, for example, is to prove that the patient most likely has a disordered game. In order to have long-term income, you need to have a gaming system. And not just a system, but a fairly innovative system of forecasting and risk management. Most likely the patient does not have it and never had it; otherwise he would have been successful and would not have ended up in rehab.
It is also necessary to find something for the patient to do instead of playing, so that he can occupy himself.
Now imagine that this gambling expert is you. What arguments will you give? What will you tell the patient about?
Please note that the patient will resist to the last. He will give counterarguments. For example, that he will get rich in the future, he’s just not lucky yet.
What other arguments do you think the patient will give? How do you respond to these arguments of his?

You really don't need to imagine this because there are legitimately rehabilitation clinics that treat specifically people whom struggle with gambling addiction.  I have absolutely no idea on how to go about helping them, what sort of questions to ask or how to approach any of that, but again thankfully there are already places like this that exist so thankfully they are there for those whom truly need it.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your gambling life could affect your relatives lifes. on: January 07, 2024, 08:42:27 PM
Take note and be aware that your way of gambling could affect your relationships and the circle of your relatives.

This is true, being hooked on gambling even if not totally addicted to it can also affect relationship.  Some of the instances are:

Neglecting the needs of the family, like attention and finance since the person is too busy with his gambling activities, he is not able to do his responsibility as a member of the family.  Worst if the person is the sole earner of the family, and due to being hooked to gambling, the money he give to his family is less and is not sufficient for the family needs that can be resulted to debt and unpaid debt.

I mean I suppose this could be true for any sort of topic.  You're drug habit effects your relatives or whatever else could be said.  I think for the most part no matter how much gambling ruins your life, that as long as it does not effect other peoples lives, than so be it.  I wouldn't not gamble simply because of fear of doing this is I guess what I'm trying to say.

But sadly you cannot ruin your life without affecting the one who cares for us unless you are living alone and no families and friends at all which is somehow an impossible situation..

I certainly understand this and at some point it's one of those things that if its not directly hurting someone, besides their feelings and how they feel about their family member doing what they are, I mean that sucks but it is what it is.

It's not like say suicide by a mother or father whos still got young kids that needs and depends on them to grow and mature in to a decent person.  However if they commit suicide once they are of adult age, then it's one of those things that effects them but, it was their choice and what they felt they needed to dos so...I dunno, it's a hard topic to discuss in some areas.

@Everyone ---Boys and gals... are any of you interested in doing a playoffs fantasy league?  It's of course nothing complex and time consuming and what, not like regular fantasy football is.  It's not as fun of course, but it does help provide a little fun/actions for the playoffs. I've played it maybe twice and always found it kind of fun.  We could do something simple like a $5-10 buy in or something.  What do you all think?  (as I type this I'm struggling to find one, but I will).

@nutildah. The Texans did not only show their astutefulness when they picked CJ Stroud during the draft as their replacement for Massage Watson. They also sold Watson for one of the highest trade deals in the history of the NFL. The Texans also did this when Watson was suspended and it appears they knew that he would not be the same player after suspension hehehehe. The Cleveland Browns were scammed.

Man the Texas are primed for some goodness for years to come.  Just that Stroud /Collins/Dell trio is going to shoot them in to contention for some time to come.
