5201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympics 2020 Discussion Thread on: March 28, 2020, 03:46:04 PM
I can imagine the athletes will be very disappointed after training so hard to be ready for this time. They will just have to do it all over again for next summer.
If I am one of the player, instead of being disappointed I will just consider myself lucky because I can train myself more to master the game that I will play. I'll just think that I am not yet fit to go on the game because maybe I am missing something on my health. Better to check if I am infected or not. Sometimes, postponement is meant for a more good thing.
Wow. good to see we have an olympics player here, so we can hear your opinion too.

What the government will do is for the best interest of the people, postponing it is the best solution since the virus is still keeping us stay at home.
Also, with the number of people infected and number of people dies, this will take time for us to recover as all of us here are effected mentally and emotionally.

I think you misunderstood him, he said "If I am one of the player", so obviously so he is not an Olympic player.

But I do agree that everyone is affected by the global pandemic, even athletes themselves, just bad timing though that the Covid-19 break out happen this year, affected the biggest sporting events. It can be scheduled later, when everything has settled down and safety has been guaranteed.

Although athletes training peaked in order for them to really performed at the highest level for the Olympics, they could reset their training and adjust. Health is very important for them and I don't think that they would risk performing if ever the Olympic was push through as schedule if the current situation didn't improved.
5202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will a company grow if they acquire Private Investments? on: March 28, 2020, 02:52:32 PM
Blockchain firm AVA Labs acquired private investment platform Investery to further expand its operations.

Acquiring Investery will expand AVA Labs’ capabilities in managing private financial assets. The acquired firm provides a platform that assists investors in researching, managing and transacting in private markets while also helping issuers create new private financial assets. Furthermore, the solution includes multiple marketplaces, allowing investors to see their full inventory in one place.

Can other companies get successful if they do the same thing as what AVA did? I guess it will depend on the team to see how they use the funds effectively.

I think not just in crypto, but in other business, this model has been practice for a long time.

One advantage is that you can really expand your business and its operations as you have said. But this is a gamble though, we really don't know what's going to happen, still 50/50. We all know that crypto market is still in infancy, lots of ups and down, just look at some exchanges that closed in 2019, who would have thought that after a huge bull run in 2017, the market will crash so hard in the next 2 years or so that businesses are forced to shut down?

So we really can't say what's going to happen, we can only wish that they make the right decision.
5203  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: South korean allow Crypto |Singapore allows 6 months license free on: March 28, 2020, 01:56:56 PM
The South Korean news is old is it not? This was already big like a few weeks ago if I am not mistaken. And Singapore to give 6 months of without license is not exactly the correct headline. We already knew this a long time ago as well, it is just the way the law is,,, for all businesses.

Yeah, the South Korean news was old, I think it was about the same time that India's Supreme Court has overturn RBI's ban. And I think the South Korean regulations has somewhat similar to Japan (and probably pattern it after them).

And according to the article posted.

Quote
Under the new law, South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges must use the real-name system by partnering with a financial institution that can provide this service. Banks will be obligated to conduct customer due diligence on the crypto businesses they deal with, ensuring proper reporting to the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KOFIU).

Crypto exchanges just need to be very transparent so that in case those exchanges are hacked, the people behind are going to be responsible.
5204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Casimero Bantamweight Unification Fight on: March 28, 2020, 01:10:45 PM
Looks like this match will probably be pushed back until August or September at the earliest.

can't say right now, the venue is in the US and we've seen how the cases have balloon in the US.
They are now in the top 1 of the number of covid-19 cases, so I guess they'll to figure out first how to combat this virus then that's the only time we can speculate as to when the fight will happen.

Yes, until everything settles down in the US, I doubt that we can see any major sporting events being push this year unless the virus contamination has been contained or scientist have discovered a vaccine to stop the spread of the virus.

I guess as boxing fans, we really need to wait, and for the boxers, keep themselves in top form until everything subsides. Of course, protect themselves at all cost because the spread in the US in uncontrollable at this point.
5205  Economy / Speculation / Re: COVID-19 - The major reason for the current fall of Bitcoin on: March 28, 2020, 11:22:37 AM
The reason for the sudden dump, but compared to the current price now, I think bitcoin has quite recovered already.
A major dump is not new to bitcoin, in fact it has died many times but it has only recovered, so just think positive all the time that bitcoin is gonna bounce back.

I would agree that Bitcoin is so resilient that it was able to recover many times, many anti-Bitcoin says that it has died many time already. But we have to consider that this is the first time that a pandemic occur, and panic sellers reacted negatively.

It's not time to panic now, it's time to be strong and good thing bitcoin is quite impressive now, it does not pump but it's holding its price.
This is already enough for investors to trust bitcoin at this very tough times for everyone of us.

But since it has bounce back already, many have learnt their hard lessons, not to panic. Yes, there is a looming recession because of the pandemic, but we all know that Bitcoin have withstood many challenges in the past and we are going to survived again and see the price moving up in the five digit figures.
5206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 28, 2020, 10:40:53 AM
It must be very hard right now for sports athletes with the lock down around the world as it will be tough to stay fit during this. I know there are ways to stay fit however it won't be the same as practising on a tennis court which so many do. Its looking like we won't see any sports return this year which can help Federer however he will then need to work on his fitness and not being able to practice on courts it he may find it hard to reach peak fitness.

Given that Roger Federer is still in recovery, I'm sure that he will extend his rehabilitation until everything has settled down. I will consider Federer an elite athlete (who wouldn't?) so for me it's going to be easy for him to recover and return to his peak form. They also have high level trainers to keep them fit in this time and I'm sure they have their own home gym to keep most of the athletes busy if the games are going to be suspended throughout the year.

@vella85 I beg to differ as these are high paid athletes who can afford the best dieticians, and hire professional personal trainers to help them remain fit during this lockdown. As far as Federer is concerned it’s probably his last year, and it’ll be a miracle if he can continue next year too as he’s aged, and has suffered many injuries too hence I feel it’s the perfect time for him to retire from the sports at the end of the year.

https://www.express.co.uk/sport/tennis/1219140/Roger-Federer-planning-to-retire-in-a-different-way

It was reported that Roger Federer is doing good in his recovery, according to Ivan Ljubicic,

https://www.tennisworldusa.org/tennis/news/Roger_Federer/84883/ivan-ljubicic-provides-positive-updates-on-roger-federer-s-recovery/

So we really don't know when the games are going to resume, if he is completely heal by the time everything has calm down and the Covid-19 virus has somewhat contained, then probably Roger will retain (timeline for his return is June of this year). So it's really up to his body and performance and he come back and see how able his body. But I doubt that he will retire this year though. I feel that he will stretch it out until he doesn't have it anymore.
5207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 27, 2020, 02:16:31 PM
Yeah its a shame that this virus has affected everything in the world. I just wonder if this helps Federer continue his career into 2021 as like I have said in here, I do suspect that the current season might not go ahead for months or will he just announce his retirement at the end of the year? It will be interesting to see what he does this year.

I think if there is someone who are going to 'benefit' from this cancellations of tennis schedules, it will be Roger Federer. He can still take more rest, no pressure for him to come back, since all games are suspended.

So there is a chance that he can still go way beyond this year and play in 2021 as his body has ample rest and he could get back fully recovered. So I doubt that he will announce his retirement at the end of the year.
Well that is one way to look at it but from other point of view , the only thing Federer is afraid of right now is Time. He might get good rest but since he is aging , it will very difficult for him to compete with the youngsters , so whatever time is lost now will be precious for Federer .

I'm thinking about Roger Federer's chance of making it to the Olympics to a new scheduled date. Now that he is injured, I doubt that he can attend the game in Tokyo this July. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Olympic has been move, thus giving Federer ample time to heal and compete on the biggest sporting event. However, it's the age factor again, as you have said, no one can escape Father time, so I do hope that Federer can compete in the Olympics for the last time representing his country.
5208  Other / Politics & Society / Re: This Is Our Last Chance to Protect Our Privacy Amid the COVID-19 Crisis on: March 27, 2020, 01:22:42 PM
This has been practiced by many nations even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been monitoring us without our consent, and will be likely the norm in the future. Of course we don't want this, because as people we all do want to protect our privacy. But at this crisis? I think it will bring more good to us as it might help to contained those who are affected.
5209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 Postponed 21 on: March 27, 2020, 12:42:57 PM
Don't think so usually athletes cant do more than 1 big event cause they need months or years to prepare their body for the perfect state before a competition.
Usually none of the top athletes will participate in two major events in a single calendar year and all of the athletes will participate in the Olympics as it is the pinnacle of the sporting world and every athlete dreams to participate in the world stage. It is a loss for the sports fan and these are unfortunate situation we never encountered in our life and never expected these sort of situation in my wildest dreams and hence with changing times we need to adapt.

Yep, it really messed up the schedule of the whole sporting events for the calendar year of 2020. And it could also affect those athletes who are going to participant in Tokyo 2020 as their last hurrah. Maybe they couldn't make it if the schedule are going to be push thru 2021. Unless they can remain at their peak, however, when Father time comes calling, you can't really fight it. One good example is Federer and Serena, they are going to represent their respective countries, but if Olympics are going to be held in 2021 or later part of 2020, then it could affect their performances.

5212  Economy / Scam Accusations / [Scam]: FCC warns, watch out for fake Covid-19 test kits call on: March 24, 2020, 12:07:28 AM
According to FCC (Federal Communications Commission), there is a ongoing robocall scams, offering fake home test kits.

Quote
As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to impact the United States, phone scammers have seized the opportunity to prey on consumers.

The FCC has received reports of scam and hoax text message campaigns and scam robocalls offering free home testing kits, promoting bogus cures, selling health insurance, and preying on virus-related fears.

A text message scam may falsely advertise a cure or an offer to be tested for coronavirus. Do not click on links in texts related to the virus, and check cdc.gov/coronavirus for the most current information.

Text message hoaxes may claim that the government will order a mandatory national two-week quarantine, or instruct you to go out and stock up on supplies. The messages can appear to be from a "next door neighbor." The National Security Council tweeted that these are fake.

So be in a look-out, we all know that scammers have ramp up their activity using the current COVID-19 panic and scare, so don't be fooled if you received such calls or email.

In other news, an unknown mining pool has taken over the majority of Bitcoin SV's hashing power.

How safe is the "real Bitcoin"?

Incoming emergency fork? LOL.

https://sv.coin.dance/blocks

How would any of us know if that "unknown mining" is coordinated in any way or able to coordinate?  I agree with the implication, though... that the whole mining situation in BSV seems quite lacking in security and assurances, when you have such high level of "unknown,"  which probably has been an evolving situation, too.. right?  It did not just happen overnight, especially since the weekly is 53% unknown and the daily is a bit more than 50% unknown.

As far as I can remember a similar this phenomena was seen mid to late January as well.

But yes, the scale of the implications are huge, because who ever this "unknown" entity has the capability and the power to rewrite their blockchain, thus it's really scary because of that possibility.

Really hard to control our addiction since it is very accessible, with just your desktop/laptop you can log-in and play anytime to want.

And as far as losing big money, been there, done that, lost a lot of sleeps, LOL. After I lost, I have to think of another way to cope up with the money that I lost, waiting for my next paycheck. But that was many years ago, right now, I just play online games with just enough crypto to have some fun. I don't want to go back and play with all the money I got, things have change now, I learn how to prioritized.
5217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Alvarez vs. Golovkin: The Trilogy we've all been waiting for! on: March 22, 2020, 10:58:20 PM
IMO, the only way Gennady Golovkin can defeat Caneolo Alvarez is through knockout. The jury is extremely biased, and they will never allow an UD against Alvarez. This has happened two times before. GGG won both the fights, but the biased judges refused to acknowledge that. My prediction is that this time GGG will knock out Alvarez, to avenge the humiliation he had last time. My only concern is his age.

Exactly, a knockout is the only way for Golokvin to win this upcoming fight. Judges seems afraid of Golden Boy Promotion's top honcho Oscar Dela Hoya  Grin. IMHO, he can offset the age factor by training very very hard just like what Manny Pacquiao did. GGG maybe not be on his prime anymore but this guy have Canelo's number and hope he can land that lucky punch that will put Canelo to sleep.

Yep, that's the only way that GGG can win. And it will be a fitting for him as we all know that he was robbed specially on the first fight. However, Canelo Alvarez has one of the toughest chin, it hasn't been cracked before, even by a Light heavyweight like Kovalev, although there is an argument that he is no longer on his prime when he fought Alvarez.
5218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Casimero Bantamweight Unification Fight on: March 21, 2020, 02:05:17 PM
Our excitement on this fight was temporarily on pause right now as there is no assurance this fight would push through according to its schedule.

Right, actually our excitement has turn into panic not because of the fight but the effect of COVID-19 to all of us.

The cases of infected people in the US was spreading fast, maybe let's wait until the situation is in control, this would only happen in Vegas as its bad if they'll change venue just to push it soon, vegas casinos has been close for now if I am not mistaken, so no gamblers would love to see this, if you guys have new updates on the fight, please share by posting here.

Yes, we should wait till everything has settled down specially in US soil. Lots of players and even average joe's are getting infected by the day. I think as sports fan, we understand the extent of the situation so we can only hope that the pandemic can be control in the next coming weeks so that we can slowly see boxing or any other sports be back to normal again.
5219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 21, 2020, 12:49:31 PM
Rafael Nadal is a great star in tennis. We know how much he can achieve for his great sports performance. 2020 is a great challenge for his career but currently, the Covid19 has us all in jake. The world economy is being affected and most importantly the safety and health of humanity are at risk. I have never seen what we are experiencing the effects of the virus in the world. The first thing above all is that we succeed in overcoming the virus and the vaccine is discovered in time before it makes more damage.

I think both Roger Federer and Nadal are great tennis players. Roger Federer has more Grand Slam singles title than any other tennis player. I am desperate to see some action happening on the court but, in these situations I do not know how many more months it will take for things to become normal.

In my opinion Federer will always be the better player as he has won grand slams in all the tournaments where as Nadal has won the majority of his grand slams at the French Open. Yes there is a case for Federer not winning more then one French Open however he has won a number of grand slams in the other three tournaments. The one that could out perform them all is Djokovic, he was looking good to win multiple grand slams this year but the virus has currently put a stop to that.

I agree with you mate, Federer is an all around player as he won in many and different surfaces as compare to Nadal which has focused more on clay. Djokovic could be the next player in my mind that could compare to Federer as far as winning Grand Slams and tournament in many surfaces.

@Indymoney - no argument there, the big 3 is definitely shoo-in for the tennis Hall-of-Fame once they retire.

I bet that this is more of a scam than anything else as cyber criminals are taking advantage of the current Covid-19 situation.

So if I'm in the OP's shoes, just be careful, instead of getting some help, it might give you a false hope in the end, IMHO.
