Paid!

BTW, the process was quite smooth although I was a bit confused by the print before the pay button.   I see the transaction has already been swept into another account and I now have 1 mBTC in the wallet provided.

we have made adjustments in the process to make it more clear. it is necessary to have a printed paperwallet before payment. i hope it´s less confusing now. feel free to try it again... Grin

5202  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: December 13, 2013, 01:49:12 PM
can one buy the paper wallet from a person he trusts ?

Trust would have to be put not only in the person selling the ticket but also that he did not accidentally leaked it.

If there is a need for the function, I would rather help to create a transfer service available on the event page.

good idea, we will do this  Wink
5203  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: December 13, 2013, 01:40:17 PM
are tickets transferable/sellable? Say, I'm not sure if I want to go, but I buy a ticket anyway, can I resell it later (perhaps at a loss for me) if I change my mind?

(I guess simply selling the private key doesn't work as I could have kept a copy)

The private key on the paper wallet proves that you paid for the event.

A buyer of your paper wallet could not be sure that there are no other copies of it in circulation, and only the first presented at the gate will be admitted.

Transferring that mB to an other address is however possible, but you would have to do this with special care such that it goes to the other address in full and isolated, not lessened by mining fee and not mixed by other coins into a bigger output, and keeping the order of inputs to outputs. (following the rules of colored coins)

No regular wallets are yet in circulation that would be color aware, but there could be before the party starts.

For now, you should consider the ticket non-transferable.

The organizer might decide to offer buying it back however, but that is not a technical question.

can one buy the paper wallet from a person he trusts ?
5204  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: December 13, 2013, 01:34:37 PM
I hope you ain't mad that I will only buy the ticket when we're into the 27th day of the required btc-average.

not at all.

but if everyone tries to pay as late as possible it will make things complicated for us. this is crowdfunding...

on the other hand, if you pay early and the party does not fly, you will get refunded.

Was denkt Ihr?

Kiss

paid my ticket...

https://blockchain.info/de/address/1AvnyGuXkSkUNzuG9gBiw21J5sPbYqGbR3

1AvnyGuXkSkUNzuG9gBiw21J5sPbYqGbR3 was the adress i was told to use for payment.

you can see that automatically 998.9 mBTC were send to the multisig adress of the btc1k party (this will stay the same)
and one mBTC was automatically transferred was to the paperwallet i have printed out, which is my personal ticket.

note that you have 48 hours after you printed the paperwallet to pay your 1 btc share.

LET`S PAAAAAAARTY !!!1!!

edit: since payment is anonymous, telling here in the forum is not mandatory and will not have any influence towards the validity of your ticket. you can also send me your payment info via pm if you want to have a "paid" mark in the list. if you choose not to do that your ticket is still valid, only i cannot mark it at the list above.
5208  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: December 13, 2013, 12:46:38 PM
Congratulations!  Looks like fine work.  Cool

I'll grab my ticket within the next couple of days.

The ticket is a paper wallet, I believe you can grab it now and fund it in a couple days.

the paper wallet is valid for 30 min. if no payment occurs within this period, you have to create a new paper wallet by refreshing the page.

that warning needs to be on the site... thats not cool at all

thx for pointing out.

we changed the time limit to 48 hours. if payment does not happen within 48 hours it is necessary to print out a new one.
an additional warning will be put on the site.

please keep us update with your impressions of ticket ipo.

...
Hmm, all I see is the post-overshoot ringing pattern, same as April. That tells me we're settling somewhere near this price, and the long-term aftermath of April would tell me we'd be in for a bear market after the price settles.

But the positive news cycle hasn't slowed ($25M for Coinbase in Series B? Are you kidding me?), so the bear market will probably be exceptionally brief, if it manifests at all.

Don't forget all the coverage the cars getting and that's only getting started, next time someone says 'but what's it backed by?' I can say goats car Smiley

5220  Economy / Speculation / Re: when will bitcoin's market cap surpass gold's? on: December 12, 2013, 08:29:00 AM
it's bound to happen. who the fuck cares about a shiny yellow metal anymore. not us geeks Wink

so i've been thinking about this and i'm fairly confident gold will plummet back down to 200 or so soon.
let's make predictions
2018?

The problem is that we need everyone else and not only geeks to think that way  Tongue

There is still a lot of upside with "just the geeks" Market share of GNU/Linux on the desktop 1.56% http://www.netmarketshare.com/. World M1 money supply 21 Trillion USD,  1.56% of 21 Trillion USD, 327 Billion USD or 27,000 USD per BTC.

Hm.... I could live with that geeky 27k per bitcoin i guess....
