This is a crazy story and it's hard to know what exactly to believe.  War is not good for anyone.  This conflict has gone on for far too long.  I hope it ends soon for the sake of both sides.  Whatever the resolution is, it has to be better than seeing stories like this in the news.
5222  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price of BTC ever hit $40k again? on: August 22, 2022, 08:16:33 AM
I feel as bullish as everyone else I guess. The amount of people stacking sats and different incentive programs allowing users to accumulate Bitcoin seem almost certain to send the price sky high at some point. I’m a bit surprised we didn’t hit $100K on the last bubble, but it seems a certainty on the next round.
5223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are all Hodlonaut on: August 20, 2022, 08:58:18 PM
I was glad to see that someone dropped 47 BTC into Hodlonaut's defense fund.  That's a great deal of coin.  While I'm not a huge fan of some maximalist tactics, I can appreciate that Hodlonaut stood up for himself and the community by calling out a fraudster.  While it is a shame that so much money has to be wasted that could have undoubtedly gone to better places, I am hoping for the best, which is that CSW loses and goes away.  I'll admit it took me longer than it should have to realize what CSW was trying to do and he did have a good plan (as far as scammers go), but in the end, Hal remains victorious.

2 months to go until the NBA season is back.  I hope Stake brings back the individual player bets and other types of bets as opposed to just the win/loss.  I really enjoyed making player bets while it was available last year.  So my wish list is for player bets to happen when the NBA season starts back up.  It would make me a happy camper.  Smiley

Stake still providing a great service every time I use the site.

Shaquille O'Neal says Warriors' Stephen Curry is 'by far' the best player in the world: 'I love that kid'
Quote
"Nobody's gonna beat the best player in the world, Steph Curry," O'Neal said.
Do you agree?
I do.
Steph proved a lot of things on that last run against the Boston Celtics. Those tears at the end of Game 6 is proof of it.
He heard a lot of bad things in different critics about being a champion just because someone was injured in the opposing team or because they recruited another superstar.
But all of that will not be possible without his humbleness at accepting the new player (Kevin Durant) or being at his best even if the strength of the opposing team (Cavaliers) is intact without Kyrie around because Lebron was still a phenomenal player at that time. (well, even now at his age)

It's hard to argue against.  Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen.  He changes the game and requires the defense to pay special attention to him at all times.  This makes his teammates much better than they otherwise would be if the defense didn't have to focus on Step.  Offensively, Steph is hands down the best player in the NBA.

However, he is also a pretty big liability on defense.  You could make the case that his defense cost them the title in 2016 and that other teams target him.  So it's tough to say he's the best player in the world.  I'd rather call him the best shooter of all time.
5226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: In your opinion is this the end for Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency? on: August 19, 2022, 11:09:49 PM
So we have seen Cryptocurrency hit with many huge scams, come under increased scrutiny and regulation, as well as being the subject of environmental concerns.

As of late, Bitcoin is trading at the lowest levels I've seen it trade in quite some time.

So I made this poll to gage the latest opinions of the users here.

The question is, due to any of these issues, or a combination of them, are we finally going to see the end of Bitcoin and
Cryptocurrency or is it still a safe haven?

I think there's probably an option between safe haven and the end of Bitcoin.  It's a speculative asset and we're heading into a recession, so there's definitely a good chance it doesn't hold it's value.  That being said, it's an innovative product with a lot of money on the sidelines waiting to get in.  Wall Street is looking at a potential new asset class they can manage for investors and licking their chops at the management fees.  I don't think they'll let their cash cow die before they start milking it.
5227  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is United States on the verge of a civil war? on: August 19, 2022, 11:03:54 PM
Polarization does not mean civil war. Their first (and only) civil war was not because polarization, but rather a fundamental cultural divide and economic issues. While it seems that those issues are present today, they are nowhere near as they were back then.

Polarization is going to become a larger issue as we go forward.  The pendulum is swinging further and further in each direction and that means more and more craziness.  I feel like after 9/11 it seemed like Americans were feeling patriotic and coming together, but cooperation and patriotism has been on the downhill slide since then.  This recent rise in Trump supporters has seemed to buck the trend a bit over the last few years, but I feel like that's just a blip.
5228  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Can Fail and Will Touch Be US $ 13k Dollar? on: August 19, 2022, 11:00:52 PM
We are almost certainly going to feel a little bit of downside pressure in the coming weeks.  How low it goes is anyone's guess really.  I'm not super worried about that because I think once this final dip is behind us, the market is going to reward those who held onto their coins.  One more new low, then off to new highs.  It may take a couple of years, but I think the future is bright for the BTC price.  Just stay calm for a month or two.

I was watching the Nelk Boys - Full Send podcast they released yesterday with the founders of the Bored Ape Yacht club. They spent some time at the beginning of the video giving a shoutout to Stake and saying they’re the best gambling platform. A decent watch and shows just how fast things move in crypto. It’s been a wild ride for the BAYC founders.
5230  Other / Off-topic / Re: How Do You Think About UFO Catcher? on: August 19, 2022, 02:23:42 AM
What's your thought? Have you ever played this kind of game?

I only recently learned how these machines worked.  I always thought there was some skill involved as a kid, like this was the one game I could get over on.  However, now that I've learned it is just as much a game of chance as everything else, I'm a bit let down.  Spoiler Alert: The pressure that the claws use to grab things changes every attempt and only every so often is strong enough to pick up one of the prizes.

5232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 18, 2022, 08:46:10 AM
Jesus christ, 50 million a year give or take, which I am sure is still good money for Lebron even though he must worth like a billion already, maybe more. I am guessing that he will definitely pick up the player option, but it all depends on where his kid will go. I guess Bronny looks as solid as it gets for a candidate, both a legacy which is like the biggest we can think, but also a solid top 60 draft pick for sure even without the dad (well he wouldn't be this good without his dad lol). So all in all, I am guessing that if Lakers gets Bronny then Lebron stays, if not then Lebron may leave to wherever drafts Bronny for sure.

Looks like LeBron will most likely retire a Laker on that contract. The extension also makes him the new highest paid career earner in NBA history, passing Kevin Durant. In another two years I’m not sure if LeBron will still be able to be healthy and play at a high level, but he’ll probably have the option to sign another deal if he wants to. I’m sure LeBron is celebrating tonight…

Hi Og, how they hanging?

I was wondering if I can purchase two of your 2018 coins, please?

One each of the

...

I might look at getting the 2019 and 2020 mirrored coins in about a month's time.

Things are good.  I hope they are for you as well.  Seeing all of your red feedback is a little troubling, but I'm sure everything will go smoothly with this trade.

No problem about the coin order.  Usually this sort of transaction is handled via personal messaging so I went ahead and sent you a personal message with a total and address that you can send BTC to in order to complete the transaction.  Please also provide your address information and feel free to use a service like https://privnote.com/.  Thanks for inquiring.  I'm sure once you get them you'll be ordering more.  Smiley

I was waiting for you to chime in here.  I thought it was a bit odd that suddenly an escrow drama blows up after you again start launching attacks on me.  Last time you started launching attacks on me via the trust network and posting lies there was the drama of the telegram impersonator which stopped completely once your Freudian slip of the tongue seemingly became an admission of guilt...  I wasn't going to bring up the timing of this, but it is suspect to say the least given your recent harassment and negative trust.  I have no evidence other than coincidence, but if the shoe fits...  I only hope this drama blows up enough for you to be worth the escrow fee it cost...

This should be moved to reputation so that I at least get paid for sig spam for engaging in what I believe to be manufactured forum drama.

You failed to mention that you were the one that attacked me first just lately... I haven't mentioned your name in literally a year or two. I actually enjoy living in your head rent free it's kind of fun. I know it really annoys you that I'm on default trust but did you really have to try and get me kicked off the signature campaign for no reason? By the way you're the asshole not me, go back down to your basement and and keep typing shit posts for money.  Roll Eyes Keep on scamming, it's what you do best! 🖕🖕🤣🤣

PS I love how you're some kind of amazing psychologist who can actually crystal ball things in your head... 🤣🤣🤣

Now that we’re all up to speed on what this actually was, seems like the thread can be closed.
5235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New coin for miners on: August 17, 2022, 06:30:25 PM
The only other coins I've mined with GPUs in the last half a decade are (I believe) Ravencoin and Grin.  I think these two coins are good candidates for some hashrate after the ETH2.0 merge.  Grin maybe not so much as I don't think there's much support of it outside of this forum, but Ravencoin has always been a pretty profitable coin to mine with GPUs.  I wouldn't be surprised at all to see that hashrate move to RVN, but I think the network itself needs to show that it's capable of being used for real world things, or at least metaverse things...  Right now I'm not sure what people are doing with their RVN...
5236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt Gox Upcoming release of funds to its creditors vs Btc Price on: August 17, 2022, 06:25:38 PM
Side thought, if they were ALL dumped using some back of the napkin math it's still a bit less then what Tesla and Luna dumped over the last few months.
Although there were some people who did have a lot of BTC tin MtG and they need money NOW I think there are more who are still holding / using BTC and see this as a free investment so they are going to hold it. Also, keep in mind there are going to be tax implications if they sell larger amounts so they would trickle it out anyway.

So, no I'm sticking with that if they are all released and all sold it's not going to matter that much.

-Dave

I hope you are right.  I think that much supply being dumped on the market has to effect something, but there appear to be Wall Steet firms lining up to soak up the excess coins.

I also think most of the coins will be sold.  They should have a clear cost basis and that makes them perfect candidates for selling in order to have a nice clean paper trail for Uncle Sam.  I think that alone will be a temptation for many of the mtgox coin recipients.  I'm also not sure how taxes will be handled yet with these coins.  Are the recipients going to owe capital gains taxes or is that being stripped out prior to the distribution?  That could also have a big effect on so many coins...  I'm still waiting until I have coins in hand before I have the necessary talks with a lawyer, but I assume there will be forced selling.
5237  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A Trump audit should prohibit him from running in 2024. on: August 17, 2022, 06:17:49 PM
So do you guys think Trump didn't steal boxes of National Security related documents on his way out of the White House?

I don't think Trump could lift boxes of National Security related documents, let alone sneak them to his house from the White House.  I think it's possible that aides were bribed into moving some boxes they shouldn't have or that an administrative error resulted in boxes being moved to the wrong place.  Highly doubtful a billionaire who was just President of the United States was trying to steal boxes to sell.

You think he was trying to build a clubhouse or something?

Have you ever seen the movie Friday?  Craig wasn't stealing boxes either, but they "had him on camera" supposedly.  Sometimes you just have to use common sense.  Trump isn't trying to sell out our national secrets.  That's just plain dumb.

5239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 17, 2022, 06:00:49 PM
I agree, Kyrie and KD could be gone tomorrow, or they will not be gone at all, and we do not have any idea until it happens. I still think that fully healthy Nets for a whole year could end up being great. Last year, at the start of the season the talks were about Lakers vs Nets finals, with harden instead of Simmons obviously, we all saw the result of that.

Harden has left, Simmons is injured, Kyrie and vaccination etc etc all destroyed Nets, and Lakers having one of the worst years of both AD and Westbrook together caused them to be terrible too. So I am not expecting the thing this year, it is going to be a revenge year for Lakers, and Nets could stay healthy and be a lot better if they stay together.
Well... reading this post came to my mind... could the Nets be different this season and could they become a strong and competitive team to beat the Warriors!!? (or another team???).

I mean if both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant reverse their requests to be traded away from Brooklyn, I could see this team being very good with another year under their belts as well as having time to gel with Ben Simmons. But whether they can beat the Warriors or not I’m not too sure. I think if they all play to their fullest abilities and stay healthy, they could..Durant is a top 3 player on the planet and Kyrie is top 10..so that should be enough for them to compete with anyone.

I don’t know if that’s going to happen. I suspected they would return and the Nets would go on like the trade requests never happened. However, I just read an article that claimed Durant said that he would rather retire then play another game for the Nets. I guess we’ll see soon enough. With only a couple months left until Durant is expected to suit up, we could have another Ben Simmons situation on our hands.

Kevin Durant already cleared the issue and he said that it wasn't true at all and he even don't know why the people keeps on believing a non-reputable sites about his situation and keeps on making story rather than sticking to the facts. So that said, I guess it wasn't really at all, I mean he is not that dumb enough to retire rather than play for the Nets this coming season because that would really mean that his career would be over and he will be remembered as a great player but a big headed. Surely he doesn't want that.

Ya, I saw the tweet he made where he was calling that rumor BS.  That was the first time I saw KD suggesting that he may return to the Nets this upcoming season.  With no movement on Kyrie and Ben Simmons being a total mystery, it's starting to look like the Nets may have a big 3 come the start of the season.  I do like that Vegas bumped up the odds for Phoenix to get KD, making Phoenix and Boston tied for likely destinations for Durant.  I think it would be a horrible move for either team to trade for him as far as their future goes, but it would be one hell of an exciting season for whoever gets him.

It’s hard to believe this is really happening. How long until debtors prisons make a comeback? This IRS misstep is certain to doom the democrats in future elections. I think pretty much everybody wants to see this ridiculous waste of money reversed. The whole gun training thing is just the icing on the cake. Hard to believe it is even real. What a bad political decision.
