5241  Other / Meta / Re: Airdrop Post Deleted. on: November 25, 2021, 01:37:22 PM
I think that it's this one: https://ninjastic.space/post/58517951

1. It's not OP' airdrop, he just wants to get referrers. It contains ref link.
2. The topic was made in Project Development, which is clearly not the correct place for altcoin/token advertising.
5242  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My laptop crashed - need to restore Electrum on: November 25, 2021, 10:36:32 AM
Be careful when searching through a search engine like Google, especially if you don't have AdBlock enabled - there are a lot of malicious crypto-related ads.
I am using two ad blockers but do they really protect against Google-sponsored ads (sites) as well? Like the ones we are used to seeing at the top of the Google search results when you search for an exchange or a crypto wallet.

The thing is that if one uses Add-On like Web Of Trust (I know that it's a bad example privacy wise, but I don't know of a better example) he has very good chance that shows orange or even red color for the malicious website. It's... a start...
5243  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Enabling Pruning by default is the worst option EVER!!!! on: November 25, 2021, 10:26:45 AM
1. There are there wallets more newbie-friendly than Bitcoin Core. On the other hand, if you have been using Electrum carelessly, I expect you have lost your coins when there was the phishing attack. So consider yourself lucky. And a rare problem with a wallet is - by far - not a  good reason to switch to an altcoin, but, yeah, it's up to you.

2. As said, that option is not enabled by default. I had this same problem as you, at some point in the past, but it was because I've been testing with pruning and may have forgotten to set it back correctly.
On the other hand, let's be honest, there were reports on the internet - a small number, but still - that users just unexpectedly got their Bitcoin Core pruning (0.19, 0.20, and still open on Bitcoin core git).
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/19291
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/93193/bitcoin-core-v0-19-0-1-automatically-prunes-i-keep-loosing-the-blockchain-how

3.
now Im stuck having to redownload the whole thing...(which take 2 F*$*ing weeks) just so I can spend the coins I mined...

There are other ways too to access those funds.
If you indeed mined Bitcoin for so long I expect them to be quite a good amount, hence my recommendation is to get a hardware wallet.
5244  Economy / Economics / Re: Can civilization revert to a barter system on: November 25, 2021, 09:41:06 AM
Central banks have announced CBDCs (central bank issued digital currencies). Some have voiced concerns of CBDCs being tools of surveillance and control. If society experiences CBDCs and decides they do not like them, will it be possible to revert to a barter based system of trade?

Somehow too many think only at big cities. Not all the population lives there.

Barter system still exist at a certain degree. There are still people who work for the food they receive and some extra goods (probably food/ingredients) to get home. At country side people can easily handle without paper money if they want to.

And imho no, central bank will not replace all fiat with CBDCs, that's not viable. There are plenty of people with poor or no internet. There are elderly people who are unable to learn the technology.
I expect CBDCs replace VISA/MasterCard as we know it, not paper fiat.

Next years have the potential to just get even more interesting. Eric Blandin, the Mercedes Chief for aerodynamics is leaving to... Aston Martin.. which also has Mercedes engine.

Eu unul il las in lumea lui.
5247  Other / Archival / Re: Alternative search options for crypto information on: November 24, 2021, 02:32:43 PM
The forum has most of the time the relevant info. I've never used much the in-forum search, I've restricted generic search engines to the forum, until they (especially Google) failed me.
Somehow DuckDuckGo never got to find me good enough all the info I needed - I do search on the internet quite a lot.

However, for searching forum posts, I find this very good, and I think that many still don't know it: https://ninjastic.space/search
5248  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My laptop crashed - need to restore Electrum on: November 24, 2021, 02:23:43 PM
It would be wise to completely wipe your drive before taking it in for service or moving funds to a new, freshly created wallet.

It may be obvious, but I'll still write it; better safe than sorry: together with that move, before generating the new seed, OP should make sure the Electrum comes from electrum.org and it's verified. If necessary, why not, even reinstall.
5249  Economy / Exchanges / Re: In Binance, can an unverified user withdraw part of their crypto... on: November 24, 2021, 11:36:51 AM
Are those the only fees incurred when withdrawing?

For example if I'm withdrawing 10 MATIC, it says the fee is 0.17 MATIC, does that mean I'll end up with 9.83 MATIC (10−0.17=9.83)?

Is the 0.17 gas fees? If it is then doesn't Binance charge a fee for their service? Or is the 0.17 their service charge and the gas fees will be separate?

The short answer is yes.
It's the only fee and it is greater than the tx fee/gas fee, since it covers it.
For example (from your numbers) it can easily be that the actual gas fee was 0.1 MATIC and Binance keeps 0.07 MATIC for themselves.

However, be very careful on which blockchain chain you withdraw, because the recipient wallet/address has to be on the same chain, else you won't receive anything.

I am not familiar with MATIC, but, for example, if I want to withdraw Bitcoin, I have to use bitcoin blockchain (BTC or SegWit) if I want to receive Bitcoin. If I select ETH I may have to provide an ETH address and I will probably receive some ERC20 token. However, I never did that because it can cause headaches. The idea is: choose the chain carefully.
Again, I am not familiar with MATIC, but I am not convinced that the withdrawal is supposed to be on Binance chain.
5250  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin private key BASE58 problem on: November 24, 2021, 11:08:27 AM
Although the previous link is not bad at all, I'll add this, from Bitcoin wiki, which may be more complete: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Wallet_import_format
Also when you have such questions, these two sites (https://en.bitcoin.it and https://learnmeabitcoin.com/) are good places to look/research Wink
5251  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Electrum and windows not seeing coldcard on: November 24, 2021, 10:18:27 AM
after this step
* use hardware device <next> -> here your ColdCard should be seen, at least that's how electrum works with my Ledger.
- I get the same notice that it cant se my harware

OK, I've spent some time to research and I have 2 tutorials for you; from what I see ColdCard can be used in 2 ways, one like Ledger/Trezor and one "airgapped".
I think that the first one you need anyway, if you didn't do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCOpEkaZ7y4   until about minute 7:00
Also update to latest firmware may be indeed useful.

If it still doesn't work as described earlier, with cable in, you can try this approach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5jRJ8L1Vwo

(The airgapped part is something very nice, it should provide more safety than "always use cable", but you need the SD card and the cable has to be data cable which I don't know it is or not)
5252  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Electrum and windows not seeing coldcard on: November 24, 2021, 09:41:15 AM
regadrind quick strart

i cant do these steps: (becuae electrum does not give me any file menu...

select "New/Restore" from File menu

1. For safety, make sure you download electrum from electrum.org and verify it: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-verify-your-electrum-download/
2. at starting a fresh electrum you will have:
* select server: auto connect <next>
* you can keep default_wallet <next>
* standard wallet <next>
* use hardware device <next> -> here your ColdCard should be seen, at least that's how electrum works with my Ledger.
5253  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Electrum and windows not seeing coldcard on: November 24, 2021, 09:30:12 AM
im useing i data micro usb cable

I also don't use ColdCard, but:
1. Did you get a MicroUSB cable from ColdCard or you just use "any" from home? The background is that some such cables are only for charging, and some are also for data transfer; you clearly need one for data transfer (and probably ColdCard have provided that).
2. Windows gets sometimes errors with USB. Stop the computer, unplug that USB, start computer, plug the USB into another USB plug, give it a few seconds to update drivers, and see then if it's better. (It can probably done without restart, but I wanted to be on the super safe side)
5254  Economy / Exchanges / Re: In Binance, can an unverified user withdraw part of their crypto... on: November 24, 2021, 09:22:37 AM
For example, if I have 100 usd worth of each X, Y and Z coin, can I withdraw only 10 usd worth of Y coin?

Of course you can withdraw any amount, as long as it's under the max limits (0.06BTC) and it's over the min withdrawal limits for a coin. Also you should check carefully the withdrawal fees for the coin you want to withdraw, else you may end up with 3$ withdrawn and 7$ fees (just an example). It may worth taking a look here: https://www.binance.com/en/fee/cryptoFee
5255  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Elon calls out CZ over Binance issue; CZ got piqued, went out of context on: November 23, 2021, 05:00:48 PM
I was really caught by surprise on how CZ responded to a legitimate issue regarding Doge withdrawals in Binance. Other than the fact that Binance is the only exchange having this problem, which could mean Doge is not really the root cause here, how on earth was Tesla's problems related to Binance's Doge withdrawal problems? CZ couldn't take the issue objectively!

It's well known that Elon is supporting Dogecoin. So it would not be a surprise if he checks now and then Dogecoin Reddit or similar, and, probably also since he knows that any tweet is an advertising, he asked this... legitimate question.
Binance is clearly in difficulty now with Dogecoin, CZ is probably angry because of this and he didn't want to play along in this advertising charade, especially as it's clearly a bug at Binance side and it makes them look bad. Of course, CZ reaction was inappropriate, I don't want to make him look less guilty, but this is how I see the situation.

@NeuroticFish 💯 % 👍

Ne doare incredibil de tare in cot

5259  Local / Minerit / Re: Timp estimativ minat Bitcoin on: November 23, 2021, 10:00:11 AM

Nu-i nimic.
5260  Local / Minerit / Re: Timp estimativ minat Bitcoin on: November 23, 2021, 09:02:57 AM

Deci relax, am sperat eu prea mult, nu-i nimic. Multumesc de amabilitate!
