5261  Other / Politics & Society / US terrorist database growing at rapid rate on: July 20, 2014, 01:11:05 AM
Quote
ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (AP) — The U.S. government is rapidly expanding the number of names it accepts for inclusion on its terrorist watch list, with more than 1.5 million added in the last five years, according to numbers divulged by the government in a civil lawsuit.

About 99 percent of the names submitted are accepted, leading to criticism that the government is "wildly loose" in its use of the list.

Those included in the Terrorist Screening Database could find themselves on the government's no-fly list or face additional scrutiny at airports, though only a small percentage of people in the database are actually on the list.

It has been known for years that the government became more aggressive in nominating people for the watch list following al-Qaida operative Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's failed effort to blow up an airplane over Detroit on Christmas Day 2009.

But the numbers disclosed by the government show submissions have snowballed. In fiscal 2009, which ended Sept. 30, 2009, 227,932 names were nominated to the database. In fiscal 2010, which includes the months after the attempted Christmas bombing, nominations rose to 250,847. In fiscal 2012, they increased to 336,712, and in fiscal 2013 — the most recent year provided — nominations jumped to 468,749.

NK people are malnourished by a plethora of intentional design of the NK regime. Here's just one reason NK people suffer maltrition and the means the NK regime assures they suffer: The NK regime mobilizes laborers and college-brats to destroy crops!
That may be the case but I know that they clear cut a lot of their former forests and now have flooding problems every year

5264  Other / Off-topic / Free State Project on: July 20, 2014, 12:20:58 AM
What is it? In case you didn't know.

Quote
The Free State Project is an effort to recruit 20,000 liberty-loving people to move to New Hampshire. We are looking for neighborly, productive, tolerant folks from any and all walks of life, of all ages, creeds, and colors, who agree to the political philosophy expressed in our Statement of Intent, that government exists at most to protect people's rights, and should neither provide for people nor punish them for activities that interfere with no one else.

Statement of Intent: "I hereby state my solemn intent to move to the state of New Hampshire. Once there, I will exert the fullest practical effort toward the creation of a society in which the maximum role of civil government is the protection of individuals’ life, liberty, and property." Anyone who promotes violence, racial hatred, or bigotry is not welcome.

When you sign our Statement of Intent, you signal your commitment to move to the state that the Free State Project has chosen to build freedom in, New Hampshire, within five years of obtaining 19,999 other people who commit to move. The more signatures we get, the more secure people can be in their decision to move, because they know that many other people will also be moving— enough to make a real difference! You don't have to wait until we have 20,000 signatures to move, of course, but that option is there to let you be more secure in your decision.

The Free State Project is an educational organization, educating people about the advantages of New Hampshire for liberty folks, and about the advantages for liberty of like-minded people gathering and working together.

Many people have proffered the idea that some big boys are keeping the price relatively stable which could be the repairing of the pricing image from the last 8 months of craziness. Hence, more companies and different funds/ETFs are making their way into the ballgame making a perfect storm upon the horizon.

Ron Paul Exposes Ill Effects of Illegal Immigrants on Hospitals
Quote
Former U.S. representative, three-time presidential candidate, and physician Ron Paul has spoken out publicly about the catastrophic impact the deluge of unaccompanied children illegally entering our country has had on our nation’s hospitals.

“Our hospitals have already been under siege by immigrants,” Paul said on July 2 on Newsmax TV’s The Steve Malzberg Show.

Quote
Many of the unaccompanied children being housed in federal facilities have been diagnosed with various communicable diseases, and some are sent to local hospitals for treatment. This naturally would cause hospitals near the facilities to become overwhelmed.

“And with these thousands, tens of thousands, who knows how many [children] ... you’re going to see some very serious health problems.... We’ve already overburdened many hospitals, Paul said to Malzberg during the interview.

“In the 19th century, when we had a massive influx of immigrants, we were still cautious about diseases.... Today, under these conditions, it just is essentially impossible to do this,” Paul added, referring to the massive, uncontrolled flow of illegal immigrants crossing our borders.

When 19th century immigrants entering our county legally were processed at Ellis Island and other immigration stations, doctors briefly examined them for signs of illness. About 20 percent were singled out for further medical examination and about one percent were sent back to their countries of origin. After 1924, immigrants had to receive a visa from a U.S. consular office abroad before being allowed to travel to the United States. A medical exam was a prerequisite for receiving a visa, and about five percent of those examined were refused visas.

Quote
Zack Taylor, chairman of the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, spoke with Breitbart on June 10 about the Border Patrol’s Rio Grand facility, where many unaccompanied children are being housed, and said: “Apparently, a significant amount of communicable disease is suspected by custodial and agent personnel.”

Border Patrol agent and Rio Grande Valley Union representative Chris Cabrera told ABC 15 News in Arizona in a June 6 interview: “We are sending people everywhere [from the McAllen, Texas, facility]. The average person doesn't know what's going on down here.”

Quote
However, attempts by the media to find out more about the health risks in the housing facilities have been unsuccessful. ABC 15 reported: “DHS has denied all requests for interviews with doctors and medical staff treating sick immigrants. The agency has also turned down our request for a tour.”

5270  Other / Politics & Society / How Israel’s Iron Dome could help defend South Korea from North on: July 19, 2014, 10:02:58 PM
Although Israel threatened by far fewer rockets than Seoul, experts say Iron Dome still could prove useful

Quote
As conflict between Israel and Gaza continues to rage, the threat of Hamas rocket attacks on civilian centers and the corresponding effectiveness of Israel’s Iron Dome anti-rocket defense system has once again come to the fore.

Simultaneously, North Korea has continued a sustained effort to draw attention to its own rocket, artillery and missile capabilities, peaking this Monday with Kim Jong Un personally supervising launch drills just miles from South Korean territory.

However, though the majority of North Korea’s DMZ-placed rocket and artillery assets have similar ranges as those belonging to Hamas and Hezbollah, South Korean military experts often say comparisons between the two are unwarranted. Namely, they cite the large difference in the size of the two groups’ rocket and mortar arsenals.

While Hezbollah caused significant social, economic and human disruption to Israel by firing more than 4,000 rockets in the course of a month in 2006, South Korean estimates claim North Korea could bombard Seoul at a rate of about 7,000 projectiles per hour in the event of conflict. That means, it has been said, that active defense systems like Israel’s Iron Dome would be essentially futile at protecting Seoul from what could be a very substantial, high-casualty onslaught.

But does that necessarily mean a system like Iron Dome really has no place in South Korea? While the North is yet to attack Seoul using its long-range artillery and rocket forces, events like the shelling of Yeonpyeong in 2010 have proven that their bombardments need not be all-out to have an impact. And even if Pyongyang was to commit to a full-scale rocket and artillery attack on Seoul, some experts say a system like Iron Dome can still help the South protect its most important infrastructure.

Listen something from Andei Lankov. http://tttkkk.livejournal.com/
Definitely, I've seen and read a lot of stuff by Professor Lankov over the years in addition to the many documentaries and reports by defectors. The lives they have led and the shear terror they went through both inside their home country and the journey away from it is hard to comprehend but you have to respect them for it even if they wouldn't want a piece of what I call a libertarian paradise, unless they learned otherwise of course.

Can Rand Bring Blacks Back to the GOP?
Fifty years after Goldwater, the Kentucky Senator is trying to repair the GOP's image with African-American voters.

James Poulos

Fifty years ago this week, a divided and feverish Republican Party nominated Barry Goldwater to lead them to victory. Instead, he led them to a smashing defeat.

There are many reasons for that catastrophe, and some on the right enjoyed a hearty last laugh when Lyndon Johnson abandoned the White House. But ridding themselves of Johnson did not mean that Republicans got back the black vote. Black Americans deserted the Goldwater GOP en masse, and they never came back—not even in the party’s ultra-dominant Reagan years. To be sure, the Reaganaut Jack Kemp made African Americans a powerful pitch. But Kemp belongs to a different time, and that time has now been long in passing.

Now it’s fallen to Rand Paul to revive his party’s standing with black Americans. After the splashy performances that sealed his reputation (a filibuster here, a standing ovation at Berkeley there), Paul has settled into something of a grind as the rest of the GOP’s presumptive presidential contenders take turns trying to cement themselves as the party’s antithesis to all things Paul.

Most recently, that’s meant a public poking contest between Paul and Rick Perry over the merits and demerits of Barack Obama’s Iraq policy, such as it is. Their dueling opinion columns crystallized the party’s central conflict: re-litigating the Bush legacy at large.

About the only line of work I can see actually doing this is some journalists as usually their asses are up for grabs by the content they get a hold of. The others are mostly tied in w/ government at some level or have so many regulations that they're following that they certainly has less time for other things that matter. And priests, the less tech savvy of the whole bunch and privacy doesn't exactly seem to be at the top of their list outside of the bad ones if ya know what I mean.

Among Asian states, North Korean food security is only better than that of Afghanistan, a new survey has claimed. The ranking is contained in "Food Security Evaluation 2014," published on July 14th by the Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

According to Radio Free Asia (RFA), the report notes that North Korean nutritional consumption does not even reach half of the UN recommended amount, making it among the lowest in Asia. Moreover, "Seven out of ten people in North Korea do not take in the recommended nutritional amount.”

It went on to assert that the reason is insufficient policy and a distorted economic system, as well as "shortages of fertilizer, fuel, and farming equipment."

The report analyzed food situations in 76 countries in the world and evaluated them under three categories: levels of hunger, nutritional intake, and numbers suffering from food shortages. The report is used as a reference when the U.S. government decides global food assistance programs.

The UN recommends consumption of 2100 calories per day to maintain health.

Thanks for your answer.

I read a book about Rand Paul few weeks ago "Rand Paul ou le réveil de l'amérique", in English "Rand Paul or the wake up of America", where it's explained that Rand Paul play the politics game unlike his father. I follow American politics cause i think America is the best chance for libertarianism. As example Switzerland (a country i know) have a more libertarian economy but people hasn't the same culture of liberty than libertarian American.
Yep, Ron was old school and lived the almost solitude political life all the while trying to give speeches wherever he could talking about Austrian economics and the like. Rand saw what his dad went through and found out what worked and what didn't work. How to address the media and when to either shut up or steer the discussion his way. Rand has built a top notch political organization and has big talent on his payroll and in place in damn near every state or at arm's length. A winner usually isn't the professorial type but one who knows how to play the game well and make pleasantries to keep from getting stoned to death in the media. Things are getting exciting and only more so as time goes by. All of us Bitcoiners need to be of use to help the cause and Rand is at the apex of the battle for American liberty, which in turn, will stop our military from being over-extended abroad. With real liberty comes real prosperity and maybe once again the USA can be that beacon of liberty that others from abroad aspire to.

Tea party groups' lawsuit against IRS over reported extra scrutiny moves forward

Quote
CINCINNATI (AP) -- A federal judge has allowed a lawsuit by 10 tea party groups to move forward against the Internal Revenue Service, rejecting a request by the federal government to dismiss all the allegations that the agency subjected conservative groups to additional, often burdensome scrutiny.

In her ruling Thursday, Judge Susan Dlott allowed two of the tea party groups' claims — including that the IRS discriminated and retaliated against them based on their views in violation of their free speech rights — to survive to trial.

The Cincinnati-based Dlott did dismiss a third claim, ruling the tea party groups could not pursue allegations of privacy violations on behalf of their individual members. The individuals themselves have to do that, she said.

Edward Greim, the lead attorney for the tea party groups, said Friday he is pleased the case will move forward.

More details...http://news.yahoo.com/tea-party-groups-suit-against-185614227.html

Despite what one's take on the different tea party groups is (yes there are hundreds throughout the country w/ a few monolithic ones), they were persecuted by corrupt progressive government officials at the IRS and that should speak volumes by itself.

Local Official: Feds Drop 'Unknown Number' of Illegal Kids in VA County (oustide DC) Without Warning

Prince William County, Virginia has become well-known in recent years for its tough stance on illegal immigration.  So you can imagine how upset some local lawmakers were when they learned that the federal government had contracted to house illegal alien children in their county without informing any county officials.

MRCTV spoke to Prince William County Supervisor, Corey Stewart  about the situation that was thrust upon his county by the Obama Administration.  We then attended a council meeting where outraged citizens spoke out against the move and had some harsh words for both the council members and the federal government.

REUTERS - Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched in French cities on Saturday to condemn violence in Gaza, defying a ban imposed after demonstrators marched on two synagogues in Paris last weekend and clashed with riot police.

French President Francois Hollande said he understood emotional responses to the killing of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in a flare-up of hostilities with Israel but would not allow violence to spill over into France.

"That's why I asked the interior minister, after an investigation, to ensure that such protests would not take place," he told journalists during a visit to Chad.
