Marto, what's the debugging protocol for a HEX8A1 which won't mine. Mines actually been idle for a few weeks it seems. Powered, power LED is on, fans are on and its detected by the WRT. I've tried every form of restart there is.

Will there be or is there already a windows install guide for the coming minion chip boards, one that is understandable for people that only made batch files for bfgminer before, with directions for driver install, cgminer set up, etc?

hi Wink

Hmm I'm struggling over here. I can't get my unit stable at all (BTC guild spamming 20 idle notifications a day...) and I can't upgrade its firmware.
5325  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive RockMiner R-Box Setup [HD] on: July 19, 2014, 03:20:47 AM
cool thanks.

does anyone know whether the power cable that comes with the rockminer, is the red wire the inside or the outside connection on the 2.5mm barrel?

Im thinking of making my own molex to 2.5mm cables an was going to get few of these (cut off the 9V battery connector) :

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/9-VOLT-SNAP-ON-BATTERY-CLIP-TO-2-5mm-DC-PLUG-Handy-power-adaptor-Also-CCTV-/371096683787?pt=AU_Pro_Audio&hash=item566716050b&_uhb=1

but need to work out which of those two wires do I hook up the yellow / black cables from the PSU molex connection.

I think the inside of the barrel is negative (so thats black from molex connector on PSU) and outside is positive (yellow cable from molex  PSU) but thats just a guess so need someone who has one to confirm that. Also the above cable shows a diagram with that config.

I can jut wait till I get my miners but I wanted to prep everything in advance and have the cables ready.

cheers

In your own projects, polarity is a matter of individual choice. The convention should be positive for the pin (TIP), and negative for the outer barrel (RING). This practice is nearly universal except for some odd-ball gadgets.

ok, I had this one spare already.

Also, I have this non powered cheapie :

Would this work ok as well ? Is a powered USB hub required or non powered like the one above is ok too ?

thanks again.

Its just data so non powered is fine unless you're daisy chaining lots.

Any chance you will add a LINUX CGMINER COMPILE to this guide?

Do you mean raspbian based?

Yes, or just a simple linux whether arch/debian/ubuntu, that provides a solid miner in which there aren't issues following the instructions Sad

I've tried configuring others through compile and I end up with icarus options not being enabled. I am sure there is many people who would prefer their own raspbi running whatever they want instead of forcing rock's webui to take over one pi

I'm pretty busy at the moment, and haven't as these come with their own Pi and OS. If you want to make your own CGminer, you can combine the noncetech guide with the cgminer part of the r-box guide, skipping over zadig.

Donations have not exceeded $50 in total this year...

Not to shit on your parade, you may not have exceeded $50 in direct donations, but how much free HW have you received, and how many BTC have you mined from said HW?  Methinks you're being a little disengenious here.

That aside, good idea, carry on.

In 2014, not enough to pay the bills and justify working full-time, let's put it that way. New releases are coming in the 500-700$ range, and seeing as only the initial guide is about 20-30 hours work (lots of testing that doesn't get published), it's not sustainable off miners alone.

one more quick question, would a simple powered USB 4 port hub like this work ok ?

http://www.logitechshop.com.au/logitech-premium-4-port-usb-hub.html

thanks

Yep. But you might as well get a $5 hub, no need for one this expensive.

What is UPS doing! It went back 'out for delivery' at 8.30pm, 2am and no update.

Where are these guides found ?

See the OP, in the hardware subforum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=76.0.

I bet you gave up trying to sell them really and are using them for door stops Cheesy

0_O I think you should have a look at the rest of the computer hardware subforum and the amount of people now buying S1s.

This is an ass backwards guide for IP settings on your antminers. Don't follow OP's instructions. Do it the same way as the S1.

Its also really not S3 specific, the thread is just here to link to his group buy.
