As you may heard that Bits of Proof will provide the ticket technology for this event.

The reason is that BOP can create a solution that is worthy for this watershed event, demonstrating the world that Bitcoin's ledger is
capable of much more than a payment solution. Here are the unique features of the ticket sale:

1. Payment requests for 1 Bitcoin is generated via bopshop.
bopshop is unique if compared to other similar services as it generates addresses using the BIP32 master public key of the
merchant, therefore the payment flows from customer to merchant without BOP taking the funds in possession, not even
temporarily. BOP can facilitate processing without being a payment processor in any legal sense, since it has no
access to the funds transferred. See http://bopshop.bitsofproof.com for details and API.

2. The 1 Bitcoin received by the organizer will be immediately split into two parts 999 mB goes to the Vault, see point 3
and 1 mB goes to the address of a paper wallet you generate, that will act as an entry ticket.

3. The Vault is a P2SH address (see https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/BIP_0016) for a 2 out of 3 multi signature script. The three organizer
generated their own key and sent the public part to BOP, so it could compute the P2SH address and automate the
transfer of the 999 mB to it. This Vault address will be public, so you may use any block explorer to audit the holding and spend
of the funds by the organizer.

4. At entry to the event you will be required to show your paper wallet's private key as a QR code, so it can be swept by a BOP
mobile program that the same time spends and validates that the mB you presented is in fact a mB that was the part of a
payment to the Vault. Since the mB will be taken no copies of the same paper wallet will be admitted at the second attempt.
Note that the organizer might stop ticket sale if the event is sold out. Direct payments to the Vault
bypassing Step 1 can be identified and will be considered as donations, not as entry fees. The process is a simplified
   demonstration of colored coins.

5. The organizer will be supplied with a special purpose Wallet by BOP, so they can spend the Vault to any address they need to
fund the event, provided 2 out of them signs the same transaction. Note that, BOP will be at no point in possession of the
funds, nor any of the organizer individually.

6. All tools involved and specific to the process, such as the coin splitter, event entry validation mobile application and the special
purpose wallet will be open sourced to demonstrate Bitcoins' and BOP capabilities to go far beyond simple payments without
requiring trust into the technology provider.

All above was agreed by BOP and the event organizer as Bitcoin was far away from its current value. As you know Bitcoin rose
much faster than most of us imagined, and this project became much more urgent than anticipated by any of us.

I hope you agree that above technology demonstration adds to the anticipated positive media effect of the party, and therefore
forgive us for being not able to match the stunning speed of Bitcoin's appreciation with development and testing.

Our current plan is to start ticket sales on 9. December.

thank you very much for the detailed explanation. cheech300, bulleric and me are very happy that the pro's from BOP are contributing their know-how towards this event for everyone to see the astonishing elegance of programmable cash.
every professional in the payment providing field, every promoter or event manager, everyone in the field of ticket sales that discovers this nice little example of what bitcoin is capable of, will raise eyebrows here. bitcoin is not only disruptive to banks and the btc 1k event is an excellent showcase.

postponing ticket sale for a week is not really cool, but it will not hurt anyone. reservations can be done, so it is no problem. we better play it safe here.

bitcoin price had a rush, the btc 1k event cannot be rushed accordingly. maybe we will indeed have it in the spring.

thanks again, grau, for this informative post.

Gestern wurde den Kindern auf dem Kinderkanal KiKa der Bitcoin erklärt.

http://www.tivi.de/fernsehen/logo/artikel/41994/index.html

so geil! *freu* Bitcoin wird mainstream!  Smiley

One thing that didn't come across/wasn't discussed is that you can divide Bitcoins into smaller parts.

I think we need to move to mBTC before folk begin to understand this.

A guy at my work didn't understand this either and he's a programmer like me. He assumed that they could only be moved in whole units and didn't understand how that would work if its a currency. When I explained it can be divided to 8dp, and that could be changed in the future he was like "ahhhhhhh that makes a lot more sense"

we had an invitation to a major german venture capital company to present a bitcoin business idea. they had no clue what bitcoin was. so we started to explain it. when it came to the "there will only be 21 million btc ever existing" thing, they said that no economy can be built on just 21 mio pieces. we tried hard to tell them about divisibility. they did not buy it. they asked questions like " but who is setting what divisibility comes in place, who is controlling it ?"

golden rule of mining: don't buy mining equipment with BTC and if you can't buy back the amount of BTC immediately.

 Wink

unser knc day 1 kauf hat sich auch in btc gerechnet (fast 25% roi btc)
aber das ist wohl eher selten. und war einfach glück.
vorher hatten wir es mit bfl, avalon batch III, und avalon chips versucht. ohne glück.
5332  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: November 29, 2013, 11:34:50 AM
I would rather wait a few weeks more after the trigger than originally planned and have a really great party
than to have a hastily organized party just to be within the 8 weeks after the trigger.

There doesn't need to be a crazy rush. The time can be well used. I'd still like to help out and ensure there is a charity element and so on; the idea of rich mostly male geeks having an expensive party and showing off their money is not endearing. Bitcoin Friday has shown what can be done that's positive in one way.

I suggested to the team that we set up a Bitcoin charity day for the same day as the party, and try to get supported by the Bitcoin ecosystem in various ways. I'm sure it'll be worth my time to try and do it if people are supportive.

we welcome this. what about getting a initiative/team started that does take care of charity connected to the party?

if you wish you could go ahead. as soon as something is worked out we add it to the website and op.

good point!
5336  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: November 29, 2013, 10:23:21 AM
Is there a tentative date for this event?
January, if Bitcoin doesnt crash within 5 days.

should it really stay above $1k on stamp for 5 days, 8 weeks later would indeed be early february, but we can´t stick to the original plan.

the entire logic of the planned party is being over-run by this incredible rise of bitcoin.

we do have a (first world  Wink) problem:

we have to see how ticket sale is going: the number of sold tickets influence the the size of the party (venue/catering/line-up...)

at what number of sold tickets do we close ticket sale ?

waiting for 1000 sold tickets could prolong the time until it takes place. pulling the trigger at, let´s say 250 tickets would result in a scaled down party.

we cannot run it as a conventional concert with a set date and then try to sell tickets accordingly since this would not be a crowd funded event anymore but a normal concert/party and in this case v.a.t. would apply for ticket sale. this would eat up 19% of ticket funds before the first drink is mixed.

we are being fucked over by success of bitcoin.   Grin

I told my wife about the party, but she seemed a little too interested in a room full of rich single men.

We won't be attending.

you are right, our party will be magnet for woman....  Cheesy

5340  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Value by Christmas on: November 28, 2013, 10:43:41 PM
it depends on when the correction comes. if it continues like the last two weeks (very doubtful) it would go past $5000,-
if correction comes tomorrow: $ back up to $ 1500,- by christmas.
if correction comes on the 23rd: down to .... hm... $1500....  Wink
