5321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: SSD update worth it? on: October 24, 2017, 10:23:13 PM
I was wondering if updating my hard disk from regular HDD 7200 rpm to SSD would have a big impact when it comes to running a full node. Will it sync much faster?

With 1TB SSD prices finally being more affordable, I could be able to run games and a full node on the disk without running out of space for a long time (if we stay on 1MB that is, otherwise I would need to give up and run pruned mode).

I liked the difference that I saw on changing from HD to SSD.
5322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is it safe from hackers to save private key in a flash driver? on: October 24, 2017, 10:21:27 PM
Is it safe from hackers if I save private keys in a pdf or txt file and store it in a USB flash driver. This USB flash driver will never touch a computer which is internet connected since then?

I'm going to say no, very bad idea.

But if you think otherwise, please get a USB flash drive that has a physical read/write switch, so you can switch it to read only and prevent the thing being accidentally erased.

Global warming is made for the common folk, to tax us more! We have to buy expencive light bulbs and jump through hoops...

At the same time corporations and megafactories carry on like nothing's chanced. When they should be the ones changing!

If the governments shut down thermal power-plants and replace then with nuclear power-plants, then we can reduce the global warming by a great deal. But ironically, it is the environmentalists who are the strongest opponents of the nuclear energy. They would prefer the pouting thermal power plants to the modern nuclear power plants.
Has there been any research that proves that Nuclear Power plants have a direct effect on global warming and even if that's the case, i doubt the governments of the world are going to shut them down considering how much energy they make from it in the first place.

There are a lot more better alternatives than nuclear power ....

No, actually there isn't a better alternative.
5324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BEWARE Fake BTG Wallets Flooding Market on: October 24, 2017, 10:11:13 PM
With the experience of Bitcoin Cash, most probably a lot of hackers try to steal Bitcoins and Bitcoin Gold. Any one should be very careful and don't trust to any wallet or instruction to get Bitcoin Gold.

How about this strategy.

Download/install/create login to web ....

NOTHING.
5325  Other / Off-topic / Re: HODL! But what should a drunken HODLER HODL? on: October 24, 2017, 10:06:59 PM
BTC - HODL.  There might be some crashes coming ahead, and attempting to trade them in a ridiculous notion since I'm a bad trader and I KNOW I'm a bad trader.

BCH - HODL.  It has a noticeable userbase who support larger blocks and hard fork alterations to the code.  They're continuing to develop the coin according to those beliefs.  It's worth keeping to see how that turns out.

BTG - do not HODL.  It's hugely premined and was not prepared before the fork.  Bittrex gave us reasonable warnings about the stupidity of it.  It's worth selling.

Meanwhile, it's always worth HODLing some fiat.

You didn't make this thread self-moderated, but to abide by your rules: HODL, HODL.
I am too drunk to count HODLs and your rlight, SO hodl HODL HODL and like som more and more. HEIL HODL!

And why hodl some flat? whut dat? Look, no way you a worser trader than me....
5326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BEWARE Fake BTG Wallets Flooding Market on: October 24, 2017, 09:53:36 PM
Where did you get this info?  is a good warning as there might be ARE hackers trying to scramble for every penny they can get a hold of

This is good advice.

Any downloaded "wallet" that gets access to your use of the blockchain is a obvious threat.

5327  Other / Off-topic / Re: HODL! But what should a drunken HODLER HODL? on: October 24, 2017, 09:50:26 PM
A drunken hodler should hodl these nuts!

Why wouldn't the hodl Bitcoin, BCH, BTG, and whatever SegWit2x produces? By definition they have to hodl it all!

A better question is where should a drunken hodler hodl their crypto hodlings? If they're drunk they're a security risk to themselves and their future wealth.

You mean we don't have to have a bunch of new words like

hodlB
hodlG
hodlC?

Because four letters easier than five.
5328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: October 24, 2017, 08:02:35 PM
is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? anyhow this money sits in the bank and do nothing for!
RIGHT! DO NOT TURN ALL YOUR MONEY INTO BITCOINS.

Keep $1 and frame it.
5329  Other / Off-topic / HODL! But what should a drunken HODLER HODL? on: October 24, 2017, 08:01:36 PM
HODL!

All replies must use the word HODL at least six times.
5330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2X on: October 22, 2017, 01:42:07 PM
....

I was neutral on it until I talked to one of the Core devs about it. I don't understand all the technical explanation, but I'm now firmly against it. I hope Segwit2x fails.

What good could come from New York?
5331  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: multi random btc address generation with bitcoin exchanges on: October 22, 2017, 01:13:34 PM
....
How do we ensure the safety of the private keys if they are all generated online? How do we protect the private key info or if we are going to install them in a server db, how do ensure it will not be copied or altered?

Safety of online keys does not exist if the bytes of the private key are transmitted between computers or through networks.

5332  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why are Muslims synonym to terrorism? on: October 21, 2017, 06:12:26 PM
Because most of the terrorism was born in the Islamic country (Muslim). it is no wonder if people or the media internsional assume that all terrorists are Muslims. Although we do not know that these terrorists are all Muslims. What should be emphasized is that Islam never teaches violence, and Muslims are part of Islam, not Islamic part of Islam.
Why lie about it?

You won't be fooling anyone, dude.
5333  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: October 18, 2017, 11:53:20 AM
Global warming happens now in various countries , including as well as the i live . I think it s global warming

Global warming phenomenon is a truth and there is no point in hiding it. You can ignore the issue, just like some of the world leaders (such as Donald Trump) are doing now, but this is going to further escalate the issue. In the future a point will be reached, where the situation will become irreversible even with extremely tough remedies.

America's carbon emissions have been declining every year since 2007.

How about Europe? Can they match that?
5334  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: October 15, 2017, 03:07:11 PM
Global Warming is truly real and its is here to stay. It is happening now. Check the news.
Rise of sea levels,  freak weather and insanely strong storms.

We are in for a wild roller coaster ride everybody. Shocked

Check the NEWS? Are you kidding me?

There is no freak weather and there are no insanely strong storms. No more than in the past.
5335  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: October 15, 2017, 03:05:58 PM

Sea level is increasing according to this chart!

Did you learn high school math?

If you did you must remember the concept of slope.

y = mx + b

I concur, over the entire period of the chart. But you get his point, since 2015 things look differently.

Further, "slope" of a line can't be applied predictively to climate, a non linear chaotic system.
5336  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: October 15, 2017, 02:16:26 AM
Global warming is real and it is already causing extreme weather events such as hurricane, typhoon etc! All we have to do is to give importance to our environment

No it's not.
5337  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: making paper wallet to paper wallet transaction on: October 15, 2017, 02:11:05 AM
Thanks, according to ranochigo , here is the improved procedure:

1)Download coinb.in script from github

2) run it on your browser on offline computer

3)go in create new transaction tab with online computer, enter from address, to address, the btc amount to send, enter the fee, press submit

4) verify you transaction by pasting it in the verify tab with online computer

5) Paste your transaction on OFFLINE computer in sign tab and put you private key, then submit

5) get the Hex encoded script of the transaction from the sign tab of OFFLINE computer and paste it on coinb.in in broadcast tab while computer ONLINE

Is it better?

Just a comment. If this Offine-computer procedure produced a square code with the hex, and Online-computer simply read that square code and broadcast it, that would be the slickest air gapped bitcoin system yet.
5338  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core developers along with Blockstream are destroying Bitcoin on: October 15, 2017, 01:55:12 AM

Not the ones I've met.

Not a one of them.

Some of them have opinions, even strong opinions that I have disagreed with.

What is wrong with that? That doesn't make them evil.
5339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to send Bitcoin to an email address on: October 14, 2017, 03:18:41 AM
There is no way to send Bitcoins to an email address because addresses can't be chosen by you, they're generated by your Bitcoin wallet.

But a person could send the equivalent of an encrypted paper wallet to an email address. Including the scan codes.
5340  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: October 14, 2017, 02:57:31 AM
Yes the world is changin..summer is getting hotter than the sun.. cold countries will experience more colder. it's part of global warming and i think by year 2030 the surface of the earth will be filled of frozen ice.

Your logic is absurd. How the surface of the earth will be covered with ice, if the average temperature is rising? And the rising temperatures are more evident in the polar regions, where the permafrost is rapidly being converted in to swamps and bogs. It is not like cold countries are going to experience more cold. It is just the reverse.

Because another ice age is definitely on it's way. Maybe not in 30 years, but in 3000 years.
