Disabling Bash_History on a Linux Cloud VPS is normally a good idea, in terms of security.

Quick method to completely disable your own .bash_history, without reading any further:

ok so if we can all work together and come up with a better system for everyone i will give away a few master nodes  to them that help

thanks
Paul

I don't know its technical possibility but it'd be great if there was a scrypt like;

When I pay and buy the node,

and just enter the necessary variables (username, pw, privkey) through the website, select options tor/ip4 etc.

and the scrypt do the rest and build the dnet mnode Smiley

So it'd be very simple to build a mnode and almost anyone'd be able to build one.

Is that possible?

-----

And for the wallet part;

we'd just choose the transaction from coin control section and click build node and enter node ip,

a scrypt on wallet configures darknet.conf and masternode.conf automatically by generating priv key itself, and get the outputs from selected transaction and name alias same as wallet name.

---

So lots of mnodes'd be build easily. I know it's easy to say, and I don't know if it's too hard to do, I'm not the tech man Smiley

Yes this would be much easier.... probably need more hosts too can't have all the masternodes on one vps provider right?

we now have 3 servers  in 3 different locations in Europ
our next server will be in Canada
as its very important to spread them about.

thanks
Paul

will the exe update be done automatically with a restart of all nodes on mp hosting? Or will this require some user involvement to start them again?

also when trying to access your site this is coming up :

Ok guys im going to take the pool down so i can sort out the mess
it will be down for 24 hours  MAX.
Spots is going to cover any losses  for the miners / pool
the pool is telling me that  you all mined  25K worth of CUBE but its not correct

So spots  will cover the coins this ONETIME ONLY as it was his mistake with the wallets.

thanks
Paul

POOL IS DOWN NOW

I've become a fan of this project and have set up a few masternodes.

I am using the mp-hosting service and noticed that their VP servers come with several easily fixed security issues. For example, they have the unnecessary apache2 enabled, use the root account as the primary login, allow root remote login by ssh, run ssh over port 22, and even have bash history enabled. I created a script to fix these major issues.

https://gist.github.com/Grandpa-Jones/28d6588c980975931c84

Please see the comment about usage at the bottom of the gist (https://gist.github.com/Grandpa-Jones/28d6588c980975931c84#gistcomment-1724292).

Hi
thanks for this BUT
if the anyone runs this on there server  and forget the user name and or password  i will not be able to get them access back on the VPS
so please don't run this yet  I will find a better solution of you all.

thanks
Paul

The current root passwords are stored (in plaintext?) in your databases and served to endusers in the clear (not https).

If anyone forgets their password, they can just reinstall the vps.

Look at the /var/log/auth.log of any VPS and you can see it getting hammered on port 22. This is not only a security issue but it taxes the server's resources.

I could go on.

HI im not having a go mate
im just saying  we can go though the scrypt and str it out so used don't have issues

always help for any help to make this service better for every one

thanks

Hi ok what I can do is build a new template so any new orders can select if they want the tor / ip4 build or just the ip4 build

And I'll make a build script so that any one who has the ip4 build now can change to the tor / ip4 build

We are also looking at IPv6 for masternodes as well
Thanks
Paul

This is great news, I have been testing tor with vps for dnet traffic only.

Will you be forwarding email notice to all current customers for the build script availability with vps instances purchased?

will this allow tor/dnet onion hostname to be used for masternode.conf setups

Well im sure that if we all work together on this it will make the network stronger

thanks

Anyone running 'Dual Stack' Masternodes on mp hosting ? i.e. is Tor use allowed on mp hosting ?

If so, it would be good for network diversity for MN operators to run as 'Dual Stack' nodes and to publish their own addnode=.onion addresses.

- Following set-up instructions from: 2. Install Tor as a CLIENT only config. for addnode=.onion connectivity.

N.B. Tor CLIENT only configurations won't relay Tor traffic, only DNET P2P traffic over Tor.

- Having a large majority of DNET network Masternodes running on the same IP block / Subnet Ranges (at a single hosting provider) is also perhaps not that great for network diversity! Although, I can understand the user requirement for easy-of-use / set-up and cheap and cheerful pricing etc.

Privacy networks, like Tor, actually enforce network diversity 'rules' by 'default' ;

"EnforceDistinctSubnets 0|1

If 1, Tor will not put two servers whose IP addresses are "too close" on the same circuit. Currently, two addresses are "too close" if they lie in the same /16 range. (Default: 1)"

Although, more Masternodes is obviously preferable to having fewer Masternodes. In exactly the same way that more Tor nodes is better for increased anonymity and privacy ...

Hi
i got no problem with this
ill go through the setup on a test VPS

thanks
Paul

OK good.

@borris123's MN guide should follow on easily enough for most using your hosting solution.   Smiley

Tor should always remain an optional choice for VPS users to install though.

Again, more 'Dual Stack' nodes (DNET and Tor enabled) will mutually benefit the privacy, anonymity and diversity for both networks.

Having 8 to 10 already available addnode=.onion public Tor nodes / Masternodes is fairly good going for DNET as a new project. More than 50-100+ Tor enabled DNET nodes would be something else!

EDIT: If anyone requires more detail for installing Tor with ARM controller on a VPS, check here:

thanks guys for the replies about the hosting info. (will flip a coin to choose wich referrer id i will sign under  Smiley )

now only one question though : I see owner of mp-hosting is pjctld . That name was telling me something so i've check and he was doing business a lot with the scammer iGotSpots lately.

is this coin in any way related to iGotSpots? is it another iGotSpots's clone made under another bct nickname?

just asking and i'm serious... not trying to fud at all, but really want to know if this coin is related to that scammer iGotSpots.  Angry

pls use the ref. link from borris123, he should get some rewards for his work on the guide.
i can not answer your other question. i'm sure s3v3nh4cks will do so.

Doesn't matter bout referrals as you get no commission off them. Not fussed anyway. Can't fault the service and price. Guide was written to help community anyway. Let's make this coin go places Smiley

im looking at the referrals stuff this week LOL

not sure how im going to do it

HI
iGotSpots is a paying customer of MP-Hosting and that's it.
I have done a lot for him as he pays his bills on time every time.
Hes got nothing to do with this coin in anyway at all.
i was asked by the Devs of this coin to come up with a
good Masternode hosting service at a good price,
and i think i have done that with over 250 Masternodes on our servers.

Not sure I want to jump in yet you have like 2 scrypt miners? Smiley

But from  what I think you are trying to do is say a person could mine Scrypt (I'd suggest LTC just to get some numbers) and be paid out daily in ethereum?

probably NOT correct but asking if that is how you WANT your setup to work? At least at the Scrypt end...assuming you get miners? ..or is ethereum payout simply X11 only?

Hi no if you want to be paid in BTC then use a BTC address as your username
Same if you want to be paid in eth and let and digi cube
We are in the process of adding more coins and payout coins to the system.

Hope that helps

Thanks
