Updated  the step by step guide for windows as it didn't have encrypting the wallet on the multi node guide bit.

http://www.fernys.co.uk/Darknet/

Added it to my webspace so i can edit it easier.

Ignore the main website it partly done for my GF but she seems to of lost interest in it.

Anyone running 'Dual Stack' Masternodes on mp hosting ? i.e. is Tor use allowed on mp hosting ?

If so, it would be good for network diversity for MN operators to run as 'Dual Stack' nodes and to publish their own addnode=.onion addresses.

- http://xeronet.c0m.li/dnet-crypto.php
- Following set-up instructions from: 2. Install Tor as a CLIENT only config. for addnode=.onion connectivity.

N.B. Tor CLIENT only configurations won't relay Tor traffic, only DNET P2P traffic over Tor.

- Having a large majority of DNET network Masternodes running on the same IP block / Subnet Ranges (at a single hosting provider) is also perhaps not that great for network diversity! Although, I can understand the user requirement for easy-of-use / set-up and cheap and cheerful pricing etc.

Privacy networks, like Tor, actually enforce network diversity 'rules' by 'default' ;

"EnforceDistinctSubnets 0|1

    If 1, Tor will not put two servers whose IP addresses are "too close" on the same circuit. Currently, two addresses are "too close" if they lie in the same /16 range. (Default: 1)"

Although, more Masternodes is obviously preferable to having fewer Masternodes. In exactly the same way that more Tor nodes is better for increased anonymity and privacy ...

Hi
i got no problem with this
ill go through the setup on a test VPS

thanks
Paul

OK good.

@borris123's MN guide should follow on easily enough for most using your hosting solution.   Smiley

Tor should always remain an optional choice for VPS users to install though.

Again, more 'Dual Stack' nodes (DNET and Tor enabled) will mutually benefit the privacy, anonymity and diversity for both networks.

Having 8 to 10 already available addnode=.onion public Tor nodes / Masternodes is fairly good going for DNET as a new project. More than 50-100+ Tor enabled DNET nodes would be something else!

EDIT: If anyone requires more detail for installing Tor with ARM controller on a VPS, check here:

Hi ok what I can do is build a new template so any new orders can select if they want the tor / ip4 build or just the ip4 build
.
And I'll make a build script so that any one who has the ip4 build now can change to the tor / ip4 build

We are also looking at IPv6 for masternodes as well
Thanks

This is great news, I have been testing tor with vps for dnet traffic only.

Will you be forwarding email notice to all current customers for the build script availability with vps instances purchased?

will this allow tor/dnet onion hostname to be used for masternode.conf setups

Alot of coins getting added to azure from Microsoft and instantly jumping up in price. How do we go about this?

What is the plan for getting usable features we can spend coins on for products?

I have followed the request to add to https://www.coinpayments.net ?

MP Hosting uses this for all the payment in bitcoin and I know my self and probably alot of others sell off a few coins to pay for the fees for this.

Need to focus as the name mentions the darkweb so we need some sort of market going. Its in the plan for auction system but what about the SYS coin market place? it looks good and is completely on the blockchain fo the market and with Dnet being a hidden network this could work well.

Just ideas. I think this coin could go places if we all get behind it.

I've become a fan of this project and have set up a few masternodes.

I am using the mp-hosting service and noticed that their VP servers come with several easily fixed security issues. For example, they have the unnecessary apache2 enabled, use the root account as the primary login, allow root remote login by ssh, run ssh over port 22, and even have bash history enabled. I created a script to fix these major issues.

Please see the comment about usage at the bottom of the gist (https://gist.github.com/Grandpa-Jones/28d6588c980975931c84#gistcomment-1724292).

The current root passwords are stored (in plaintext?) in your databases and served to endusers in the clear (not https).

If anyone forgets their password, they can just reinstall the vps.

Look at the /var/log/auth.log of any VPS and you can see it getting hammered on port 22. This is not only a security issue but it taxes the server's resources.

I could go on.

Disabling Bash_History on a Linux Cloud VPS is normally a good idea, in terms of security.

- http://mewbies.com/how_to_disable_bash_history_or_limit_tutorial.html

" QUICK METHOD:
`````````````
Quick method to completely disable your own .bash_history, without reading any further:
Remove the file:
rm ~/.bash_history -rf
Clear your current history stored in RAM:
history -c
Change your settings:
export HISTFILESIZE=0
export HISTSIZE=0
unset HISTFILE
Logout, login, done. "
Already suggested installing and properly configuring Fail2ban + iptables as a good option for blocking SSH 'default' port scanning / attacks etc.,
This method can also provide some basic DDoS protection.
Disabling Bash_History on a Linux Cloud VPS is normally a good idea, in terms of security.
- http://mewbies.com/how_to_disable_bash_history_or_limit_tutorial.html
" QUICK METHOD:
`````````````
Quick method to completely disable your own .bash_history, without reading any further:

Remove the file:

rm ~/.bash_history -rf

Clear your current history stored in RAM:

history -c

Change your settings:

export HISTFILESIZE=0
export HISTSIZE=0
unset HISTFILE

Logout, login, done. "

Already suggested installing and properly configuring Fail2ban + iptables as a good option for blocking SSH 'default' port scanning / attacks etc.,

This method can also provide some basic DDoS protection.
