542  Other / Beginners & Help / Reminder of possible fake app download on application stores on: February 14, 2024, 04:54:46 PM
I could remember when Electrum fake wallets were common on Google Playstore. There were many other wallets with fake apps on Android. People offen report it of which I guess most many reports are from people on this forum because they can easily know the right and the fake app.

Have you noticed that App Store is bombarded with Apple fake apps now and these fake apps are common than before. I saw another one on Cointelegraph just not long ago but which is about Curve Financial which is a decentralized finance protocol.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/fake-curve-finance-app-listed-apple-store

Any app can be cloned and fake in order to scam some people. Use the official site to download a software or just make sure the app you are about to download have been downloaded by many people like above 100000 people before you proceed to download it.

You do not need to rephrase or paraphrase what you copied from another site. If you rephrase it, it would be known and it would be seen as plagiarism. It is even plagiarism. If you want to copy from another site, it is better you include the link at the beginning or the end of your post.
545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about the lost BTC? on: February 12, 2024, 12:11:28 PM
No, lost bitcoin are gone forever. If you want to recover any lost bitcoin, try all possible way to recover back the private key or the seed phrase.

Something like adding more BTC in an equivalent amount for those lost BTC, or something similar.
Just like what centralized ripple (XRP) developers wants to do. It is not making any sense. Private key or seed phrase are used to prove the ownership of an address and that is also needed to spend the coins, which is enough.

548  Economy / Exchanges / Re: cannot convert my ltc to usdt on: February 11, 2024, 07:36:12 PM
No each exchange has different limits they set so this might be only for Mexc, other exchanges can have lower limits.
I was able to convert $2 worth of crypto to another crypto on Bybit before, but also now you have to trade at least $5. On Binance, it has to be at least $10.

Probably yes. Even if you manage to find another exchange, that has lower withdrawal limits, you would probably still need to pay for a withdrawal fee (possibly 1 USDT t). It's probably not worth it. You're better off finding someone who's willing to do this for you instead of using an exchange.
He is talking about trading fee. But it is truly not just worth it even if it is trading fee or withdrawal fee because $2 is small. I think he just want to hold a stable coin.

First of all, you need to move this thread from the Bitcoin discussion board to the Altcoin discussion board.
It supposed to move it to exchanges board. Why? You can understand that from this quote:

So all the exchanges have that 5 minimum dollar rule?
549  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Cold card connected to labtop on: February 11, 2024, 08:08:30 AM
So if in your case you suspect that the computer is not fully airgapped then you might have to considered that airgapped nature of the hardware wallet already defeated.
No. Coldcard is a hardware wallet, but that needs to connect to an online wallet like Electrum or Sparrow through a micro USB or the USB type C cable, depending on the model of the Coldcard hardware wallet. But I do not like this type of ways to sign bitcoin transaction, I like the use of QR code which as been proven as the most effective way to sign bitcoin transaction with the hardware wallet remain airgapped.
550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: February 10, 2024, 02:29:43 PM
The answer to this question is mostly likely not.  It comes down to the age old saying "if there's a will, there's a way".  People that addicted to gambling are going to find ways to gamble no matter what.  If their accounts are frozen they'll simply open new ones (maybe us a VPN) or just go to different gambling outlets.  Let's say they magically got banned from using the internet, then they'd just find places IRL offline.
VPN for what? If gambling is allowed in his country, why using VPN? There are many reputable gambling sites today that he can choose from. Some gambling sites do not even allow VPN. If a gambling site block his account because they know that he is getting addicted to gambling, he can just open an account on another gambling site and continue to gamble. But if we should be sincere, have you seen any gambling site that does that before? I have not seen a gambling site that will block the account of the person that is given them more money and losing it for their own profit. It is good for OP to know that to stop gambling or stop gambling addiction comes from the gamblers mind and not from any form of centralized control.
551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 10, 2024, 02:18:33 PM
Guys, do you often feel like me? when I raise the bet I lose and when I lower the bet I win. Does the casino system/algorithm know the betting patterns we make? So often when we bet big we are given a loss and when our bet is small we actually win, which is very annoying

I don't know if this applies to all games or not, but I feel like this often when playing table games. What do you think?

It applies to all games, it's just that we are not that lucky to win big by betting big.

There are even times that we always hit wins by betting high amounts instead of lower bets.

There's no algorithm but rather we just have to find our luck and rely on it. That's how playing luck-based games is supposed to be.
But I noticed something, that if a gambler is betting with small amount of money, the gambler will bet more recklessly with low emotion. But if you are betting with huge amount of money, you will be more careful. The carefulness that can make someone not to bet at the right time and with the right game or match. The person might blame himself and prefer not to miss the opportunity next time. The person will later bet and only see himself lose. He may bet again and again and seeing more losses than profit. I noticed that the kind of carefulness people have when betting with huge amount of money can even makes them have more chance of losing.
552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the benefits of cryptocurrency to the illiterate people on: February 10, 2024, 02:11:35 PM
What are the benefits of cryptocurrency to the illiterate people?
It is the benefits that bitcoin has generally. There is no segregation because literates and illiterates can all buy and hold bitcoin. So if we have to talk about the benefits of bitcoin to the illiterates, that means you are also talking about its benefits to people that are literates as well. And the benefits are to hedge against inflation and to be used as an investment. If the price goes up, people that hold it will make more money and also helping the economy.
553  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading or Long term on: February 10, 2024, 01:57:53 PM
Interesting question on day trading versus holding long-term! Going all-in on trading takes guts.  But do we really have to choose just one strategy? There seem to be middle ground options too like swing trading or dollar cost averaging into long positions over time.  Sure, buying and holding is less work, but we miss out on potential profits that way.  Maybe a balanced plan using both short-term trading and long investments based on your personal risk comfort makes sense? Diversity can be good.
I do not agree with you because there are many people that are financially drained because they are trading. If it is holding, we can say 1 BTC is equal to 1 BTC, but trading is different. Some peoole will go more than 1x leverage or going short in a way that their trading assets can be liquidated. If you hold, that does not means you are missing any potential profit because you are not trading, but it might be that you are missing potential losses while holding might helped you in making enough profit.
554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: February 09, 2024, 10:43:05 PM
If one casino or betting place freeze the account of a gambler who they know is addicted by way of trying to make them not have resources to gamble with, these gamblers will find their license to gamble elsewhere in a casino that's will accept them and not care about their addiction by trying to control them through freezing their accounts. An irresponsible gambler need to be made to see a reason why they should quit or reduce from gambling. Best help for an irresponsible gambler is to recommend them to a professional.
A gambling site will never freeze the account of the person that is making them to make money. The only reason that a gambling site can freeze account is if the person is against the rules of the gambling site, and that might be if the person win huge and want to withdraw. If the person do not win and not want to withdraw money, the gambling site will allow the person to continue to gamble and waste his money.
555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: February 09, 2024, 05:34:13 PM
Nigeria won Ivory Coast in group stage, but Ivory Coast was able to come out of the group stage and also continue to win and also won DR Congo to reach the African cup of nation final meeting Nigeria again. If we can remember, Nigeria won Ivory Coast with penalty at the second half scored by William Troost-Ekong. Ivory Coast forward Sebastian Haller said they will revenge their loss to Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group stage. Let us see what will happen, the final is going to be interesting. I am expecting Nigeria to win this year African cup of nation.
556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 09, 2024, 01:05:58 PM
Like you, I sometimes fall into this condition. Then I bet the big amount only then I lose the bet but win the small amount bet. Actually in this case I will give more importance to luck because maybe I don't have luck to win big amount bets or my luck favors to win small amount bets. I don't think anything of them or take them seriously as I only place bets for entertainment. In this case, whether fate favors me or not, I give priority to my entertainment.
If you want to give it as entertainment, then you should not be using big amount of money to bet. If you are using big amount of money to bet, it is becoming something not entertaining but looking for money through gambling. I will advise you to be betting with just small amount of money. But what the OP said is just something related to coincidence as he is betting with small amount of money that he is winning with it, gambling is just luck, be it betting with huge or small amount of money. But people will be able to have more financial control if using small amount of money to gamble.
557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's problem gambling different from compulsive gambling. on: February 08, 2024, 06:41:26 PM
I don't think there is an exact definition of both concepts, as they are used in different contexts by different people who have some minor different views on what each of them mean, although they are pretty similar in every cases.

As I see, problem gambler represents a wider category, while compulsive gambling might be one element inserted inside that category called problem gambler. That is, compulsiveness is one characteristic of problem gamblers, although there are many others which may be spotted as well in a determined problem gambler, like aggressivity, anxiety, low self-esteem, greed, depression.

Does this definition makes sense for you?
If we should brief it and make it short, what we can qualify both as gambling addiction. If someone have problem gambling or you are a compulsive gambler, definitely that means the person is a gambling addict. Although they are not exactly the same both they both resulted to gambling addiction as problem gambling is gambling addiction itself and that can make us say that they are both the same thing which is gambling addiction. If someone is gambling always and the person will surely continue to gamble and gamble with high amount of money and lose and always lose in a way that he has no two problem than gambling addiction problem.
558  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Changing initial option and losing the bet on: February 08, 2024, 09:17:34 AM
That can be a bad habit for a gambler—not sticking to the initial decision—because it may affect your bet or you could end up with a bad result.
If I get it correctly, the OP is talking about sport betting. In sport betting, you can analyse the two teams that want to play, for you to know what the result of the match could be before the match starts. Your analyses should be what should make you select a match. And if you change your decision, it is not bad if you see latest information that do not favour your analyses for the match. But change of decision should be as a result of your recent analysis like fundamental analysis. But if someone is using a guess work to bet, that is not good in sport gambling at all not to talk of changing plan.

560  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: February 07, 2024, 11:34:40 AM
Well, no matter what debate we have or what opinion we share, the decision will still depend on the person or gambler. We can't dictate or normalise who's the one who has the right to risk more, rich or poor; it doesn't matter; it's their own life.
I do not agree with this. In gambling, we set some rules for ourselves for us not to regret that we know about gambling. Both rich and average should be able not to go against the rules if they do not want to regret. Gambling is fun if you make it fun and not see it as a means of making money. Both rich and poor should just gamble with the money they can afford to lose and also with the time they can spend enjoying gambling. It should not be more than this. What I am saying is that rich or average should not both risk more, they should not risk.
