The major surprise for me in this group stages has been Benfica. They sit bottom of the group after losing all their four games and are already out of contention for a round-of-16 slot and will need a huge turn around to make it to the Europa league.
This is a stark difference from their last season campaign where they topped the group with PSG coming second and went on to reach the quarter finals, only to be knocked out by eventual finalist in Inter Milan. Somehow their league performance have not dipped at all and they sit tup of the liga Portugal.

I don't know why Benfica this season in the champions league is experiencing a deep slump how not for 4x matches have never won, so their situation in the champions league looks like they are frustrated but strangely in the Portuguese league they are still staying with the top standings, so I was a little surprised why this happened, maybe their mentality is now quite weak. Newcastle looks most inexperienced with champions league amongst others in the group F. They are at the bottom of the group and looking like they are not qualifying for the next round of the champions league this season because they have the least point in their group. They have won only one out of all four champions league games they have played so far,they lost two and drew one which has turned out very poor amongst the results other teams in the same group has got in the champions league so far this season, they seem unlucky to be amongst experienced teams who still don't mind taking advantage of their weakness to their benefits because they want to qualify to the next stage, Dortmund and PSG still remains the only teams that looks to me like they would qualify Newcastle is not the most experienced team in the Champions League, but they are the least experienced team compared to the other 3 teams in the same group. Newcastle have failed in 3 out of 4 matches so far and they were only able to beat PSG by surprise. Their performance was poor even though I enjoyed the good game, but the result is what matters most, not the gameplay. I don't think Newcastle can easily qualify for the round of 16 this season, but they have the potential to win that ticket if they are able to win the next 2 matches. Nothing is impossible and no one knows for sure how far Newcastle will progress this season in the Champions League. The opportunity is still there and every team in Group F has that opportunity and can still take advantage of it. They represent the Premier League, but it is difficult to move forward when big teams are the opponents. Didn't Newcastle not enter the Champions League for a long time, some say 20 years without being in the champions league? Correct me if I'm wrong. I must admit that I had high hopes for Salernitana this season but I must be realistic and see that this team is not capable to perform well even if they have good players in the squad. I also think this is a managerial problem from above and not only the coach but the entire staff that works with the team is kinda responsible for this bad form of Salernitana. What concerns me even more is that Serie A has lost the intensity , has lost the equilibrium between teams ( because we can already pick the top 4 and also pick the last top 4 ) and also the viewers are not so engaged with Serie A like they used to be ...but personally I still love to watch Serie A and I will always do.
