541  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: December 08, 2012, 01:40:28 AM
Is the website loading very slowly for anyone else? It takes like 5-10 seconds to load for me.
Yes, it's painfully slow for me too, almost to the point to be unusable.

I was just using it a few minutes ago and it seemed about as fast as amazon/newegg.

542  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3800 GH] BTC Guild - PPS, PPLNS with TxFees+Orphans, Stratum+Vardiff ASIC Ready on: December 07, 2012, 06:07:36 AM

CGMiner may have fallen back to getwork due to the hour of heavy outages last night, not sure.  However, you wouldn't be missing anything unless your miner completely stopped submitting shares.  They'd just be registered under PPS rather than PPLNS.

I had to reboot to get it to go back to stratum.. #@$%*&# Windows 8!!!!

i'd imagine that has nothign to do with windows 8...

Are we gonna wait HPC software like BFL ASIC's ?

hpc work is GPU based...
544  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The next difficulty on: December 07, 2012, 02:14:03 AM
The hash rate dropped for a day or two and is climbing right back to where it was.
GPU miners went nowhere it seems.

That's because LTC difficulty hasn't adjusted lower yet. It's currently more profitable to mine BTC. Many will switch back to LTC mining when the difficulty adjusts.

heck.. once difficulty drops.. 2.6 mhash will be worth like $8/day at current 0.006 fx rate. not a bad deal.. even though 2.6 ghash is still worth $5 a day at current difficulty and price.
545  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The next difficulty on: December 06, 2012, 12:58:30 AM
It could take 6 months until we know exactly what effect the halving has.

Gotta wait for the stubborn miners to switch off (up to 3 months)
And then the GPU heaters to be turned off (up to 6 months)

the thing I am curious about is.. when/if asic's come in force and difficulty goes to say.. 100m... where will the fpga's go?

when it takes 200k diff 1 shares to gross $1 (assuming $20/btc... ) it just wont even be worth it for them anymore.. much less any GPU.

546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Massive LTC DDoS attack on all major pools on: December 04, 2012, 02:26:14 AM
I guess at least on the upside.. difficulty will be back in the 20's for a couple days after next difficulty change.. (whenever the heck that is..)

That said.. time to cash out on some coinlab loyalty points for now!

(and man do I wish ppc had a gui like the other coins or else i'd start mining that to)
547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Massive LTC DDoS attack on all major pools on: December 04, 2012, 02:21:00 AM
litecoinpool.org... is that thing still being ddossed or did they just scuttle away and close up shop or something?

notroll and coinotron have been up for like 10 hours and still no sign from litecoinpool....

just curious.

litecoinpool.org usually gets hit the hardest, and my pool is still under attack, they probably are as well.

Cheers.

ahh ok. Didnt know that. I guess a couple of the pools coming up was only the worst of it verses it being totally over.

Thanks for the clarification!

It seems like the 7950 is the best of the best for single cards at a good price point.. 600-650 khash without much effort (1070/1500).. and heck it even runs cooler than it does mining btc at 600 mhash (1150/600)..
550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [400 GH - combined pools ] - COINOTRON pool - [NEW] PPS(2%)/RBPPS(3.5%) on: December 02, 2012, 04:12:19 PM
Useful info to add would be how often auto-payout triggers. Few people I sent to Coinotron went mad on me because it's not
instant, LOL! They were expecting that payment will be made as soon as they have enough confirmed coins, set payout amount
equal or higher than minimum value and click on "Save".
Yeah, that must be irritating.
Instant payout is on my dev. list.
Meanwhile I added info  how often auto-payout triggers.
Thanks for your help and suggestions Smiley

considering your lower fees.. for a 24/7 miner it is worth it to have to wait a little bit longer for the coins if you are getting more of them Smiley

that said.. I REALLY wish you guys would track # of share submitted by miner....
551  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who is quitting mining due to block halving? on: December 02, 2012, 02:42:04 AM
LTC just died in the arse as a bunch of GPU miners jumped on board for a bit and pushed difficulty beyond profitability. I did warn them that the BTC halving would hurt LTC but they saw more people mining as a good thing. The LTC fanboys thought that more people mining would somehow magically drive LTC prices up when there is no such mechanism.

This is something that is VERY natural and expected to happen. Right after the halving LTC was twice as profitable at current FX rates to mine, so many miners switched over, now that it has evened out some people are switching off or moving to something else until difficulty drops back down again.

at the end of the day btc will be the determinator for mining profitability unless some other alt chain grows substantially in its influence.
552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 479 LTC stuck in CryptoXChange. If you can get them out, they are yours. on: December 01, 2012, 11:46:13 PM
Cool.  So I guess CXC noticed this thread and banned my account without sending me my coins.  Roll Eyes

I haven't received any responses to my emails, or any communications from them whatsoever. Seems like they want to ingore me and keep my $40 worth of LTC.

If they weren't already closing, I'd warn others not to use them. Very disappointing, I thought they were more reputable than this.

Or they may have logged in and told the site admins to go fuck their mothers?

still doesnt let them just go "ya.. our coins now!"
553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC! 1,000,714 kH/s!!!!! on: December 01, 2012, 11:44:38 PM
I really wouldn't celebrate... all the GPU btc mining escapees will blow your difficulty out of the water killing your mining profit margins. Difficulty is supposed to parallel price. Price does not go up just because miners are driving difficulty up.
And as expected, difficulty has now been driven past the point of profitability in no time Tongue

+1 and hashrate is down lol....no one saw that one coming  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Hash rate went back down to about 1000 Gh. Did some of the large GPU farms decide that it wasn't worth it anymore, or was this a bot net test??

when profitability drops 70% overnight it is easy to see why some folk would shut down of move to another coin.

LTC has been been seeing 10-20% diff bumps and drops for months now...
554  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 25BTC reward but.. no drop in hash rate! on: December 01, 2012, 10:45:36 PM
I see that 50btc.com is down from 5500 to 4300... and btcguild also seems to have lost a TH as well.
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [TUTORIAL] Solo Mining Litecoins Guide--Windows! on: November 30, 2012, 01:58:26 AM
Should I solo-mine with 2 m/h or is that no enough for a variance?.  First day I got 5 blocks...that was 3 days ago.  I havent found a thing since.  I tested the miners by letting them fail-over to a pool and all seems well.  What is the percentage of finding a block after 3 day?  Has to be in the high 90s.

PS

It's totally random, I've mined with 2mh/s at the lower difficulties (~10) and sometimes I wouldn't see blocks for three days, and then suddenly i'd get 3, etc.  Just let it keep running and don't check it for a while, when you come back in a week or so you'll have lots of blocks.

the guaranteed payment of a PPS pool is nice.. but when I was on notroll.in I found 2900 ltc worth of blocks for 2580 of pps payments, which is kind of a bummer.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All time highest litecoin mining difficulty? on: November 30, 2012, 01:55:41 AM
coinotron just got another 40 or so mh/s

additionally my mining guide is getting tons of views

up we go

I wonder how many Mhash of LTC mining you are directly responsible for.. lol
557  Bitcoin / Pools / Here comes the day EVERY pool operator dreads.... on: November 27, 2012, 09:49:09 PM
Halving day!

At least it looks like it will happen during the day (USA time)...

Best of luck to all of you for a safe and smooth transistion!

I bet it feels like Y2k... lol
558  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] CoinLab Protected Pool on: November 27, 2012, 09:45:56 PM
Man, I REALLY wish I joined this pool when the protected pool first began. This is a GREAT service you guys offer that no other pool even came close to matching. Plus, the bonus pps times were a nice bump as well!

I'm excited to see what the client app will look like and how profitable that work will be!
559  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is current FPGA:GPU ratio among miners? on: November 27, 2012, 09:41:48 PM
GPUs will be getting turned off in large droves, however FPGAs can be expected to remain on until ASICs hit, due to their negligible run cost. If you know the FPGA/GPU ratio, you can make a reasonable stab at what the hashrate will be after halving.

Also the fact that FPGA's aren't easy to sell while GPU's, espescially newer well working units still have most of their original value... and christmas buying season is approaching.
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin price headed down on: November 27, 2012, 01:35:41 AM
Personally, I think things will be pretty fun when blockreward of bitcoin halves in a few days and blockreward of litecoin doesn't.
What are you expecting to happen? I expect that miners will switch to mining litecoin and then quit or switch to other coins as the difficulty rises faster than the price. I expect the price of litecoin to rise gradually simply because of the increased attention.

I'm pretty sure of what will happen in the long run.... LTC difficulty will roughly double.. which will be almost exactly the equivilent of a "halving" (as far as an individual miner is concerned), if price stays roughly the same we now have two block chains again about equal in profitability, I'm sure it will stay that way give or take for quite awhile...

If the LTC price goes up, difficulty will rise again to bring its profitability back down around to where BTC is.
