541  Economy / Gambling discussion / Gambling investment is zero sum on: January 04, 2017, 10:31:19 PM
Gambling investment is zero or negative sum, considering the house has to profit.

So why are you guys do bitcoin gambling as an investment instruments? OR merely just for the fun, like going to a physical casino.
542  Economy / Trading Discussion / how do we calculate "24 hour trading volume" on: January 04, 2017, 10:24:16 PM
For example according to coinmarketcap.com, BTC's 24 hour trading volume is just north of $300 mil ($323,164,000). Is this calculate from the ledger where BTC change hands / ownerships, which means that it is 100% accurate?

And also if I transfer from A exchange towards B exchange that will certainly be counted in the volume.

Thanks guys

Just to make sure I am getting this right, you are selling BTC and buying RMB?
544  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Anyone using BTCC's Justpay wallet? on: January 04, 2017, 10:10:03 PM
Who want to loss privacy in the shake of just using bitcoin web wallet? Better to stick with web wallets like blockchain.info and electrum which never ask any doc or verification and even doesn't restrict use of bitcoin in anytype of services.

Agree, simply much better with non ID needed web wallet or just go with hardware or paper.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people still buy ripple when... on: January 04, 2017, 10:03:02 PM
no one is buying ripple, the marketcap is so big because they keep adding more coin to the supply, just take a look at the supply is very very high

According to coinmarketcap, the 24 hour trading volume was about $936,000, so people are buying it, or rather trading it:

https://coinmarketcap.com/

As to why they are doing it - if they see an opportunity for a quick short-term profit, traders will buy literallu ANYTHING.

Holy crap, the trade volume is so low that a few boyscouts can manipulate it.

Having said that, the true question I wanted to ask was, is there something we don't understand about Ripple. At least for myself I learn new things daily trading crypto so is there something about Ripple that is signigicantly different that the owners have to own so much, or that it's trading volume is so low. Or rather its like many speculated - short term profit by founders.
546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why do people still buy ripple when... on: January 04, 2017, 08:24:47 AM
Why do people still buy ripple when we know that the owners have stored with them so much ripple from the beginning?
547  Economy / Securities / Re: Putting 10 BTC to good use on: January 04, 2017, 08:21:27 AM
Most people do really believe on this thing which trading is a good investment which you could able to make decent or more money but its not really easy to achieve and as you said it would really need proper knowledge and experience in able to be profitable with it.Lossing money on trading is just a normal thing because of price volatility and must be careful choosing shitcoins.

I think the same. The risk when trading is high, there aren't strategies working 100% there. You can "read" the graphics, try to find a sequence to create your rule, but who knows if what you predicted will really happen?

What traders say is that on long run their strategies always work, not always, but on the majority times it works, same thing that sport's gamblers say. In my opinion trade and sports gambling have something in common, and I don't think it's possible to live only with this income. Maybe you can try, but I'm sure it will be a life without stability.

The more active you trade the more commissions traders get, and the more tax you'll have to pay to the government. So the natural thing is to encourage small investors to trade trade trade. The stockmarket has been able to give a 8% annual return over a decade, if you don't keep trading in and out, at least 8% is guaranteed.
548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why does Chinese exchange only offer BTC and LTC? on: January 02, 2017, 07:14:22 AM
Just found out another big reason.

The CEO of BTCC is the brother of Litecoin creator Charles Lee aka Charlie.

Brotherly love Wink

Because Bitcoin is the king, so it does not need to be explained. About Litecoin, some say regularly here that it is China's baby, so I guess it is the reason. There isn't any other altcoin worth the try and that proved to be reliable over the years.

Who's been saying Litecoin is China's baby? curious Smiley
550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why does Chinese exchange only offer BTC and LTC? on: December 31, 2016, 10:06:17 AM
The three main exchanges - OKCoin, Huobi and BTCC only offers two cryptocurrencies.

Why is that?

Thanks for bring this up, I have also observed this too, I just think it is because of they have monopoly of mining LTC and BTC

Judging from their entrepreneurial spirit, I am suprised that there are so few exchanges with only two crypto.

Other tech-ish industries such as GroupOn or Uber are filled with players with varying services, so it is easy to promote other crypto as a differentiator.

Is it possible Chinese Uncle Sam is regulating it?

What are the major tech companies that is supportive of cryptocurrency and how?
553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: F*** ICO's. on: November 14, 2016, 01:15:10 AM
The Libertarian dream has evolved into a Capitalist nightmare. The banks used to fear cryptocurrencies. Not any more. They just need to get some popcorn and watch us destroy ourselves chasing their fiat cash.

The bankers must be laughing themselves to sleep every night.

Wow this is so true, in the beginning the banks laugh at us, they ridiculed us, and they accepted us and some even succumbed to us. But wait, I think they'll be laughing again
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why should the Ripple founder hold so much coins? on: November 14, 2016, 12:59:53 AM
Both Satoshi and the founders of Ethreum hold less than 10% or less of the coins. Upon ICO, why should Ripple founders hold so much and why even so it is rising fast?

Well, technically founders now hold less than 10%.

CL donated 7B to foundation.
Jed donated 2B+ to charities.
Jed sells every week.

Do we know which foundation and charity they donated to?
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why should the Ripple founder hold so much coins? on: November 14, 2016, 12:56:56 AM
Everything is dodgy about Ripple. For example do you really think they have more than 1 million $ of daily volume? They are probably running bots all day long to give the impression of a liquid market.

Wow I didn't know that at all, especially on the order it looked as if they brought in so many big banks into play

557  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Anyone using BTCC's Justpay wallet? on: November 13, 2016, 06:06:28 AM
Just checked their wallet i like the option of spot exchange from bitcoin to fiat and fiat to bitcoin. However we need to verify our account with passport just even to deposit any penny or withdraw any penny from the site. Also Frozen balance area in bitcoin wallet dashboard was quite frightening thing for me.

I am guessing is Chinese government regulation requiring them to keep a record of passport for identity.

What is "frozen balance area"?

560  Economy / Trading Discussion / How and where do I store my bitcoins? on: November 12, 2016, 11:54:17 PM
I have less than 10  in localbitcoins and about 5 each on BTCC and their justpay wallet.

I don't trade actively, just buying around 1 coin every week or two since a few months ago.

Should I be considering some secured wallet?
