Just used this guy's service, and all worked out very well and fast. I'll post if something goes wrong, but for now I'm giving him a glowing review. Good communication and he did it as soon as I paid and notified him. Def worth it to pay a few btc than go through the hassle of doing it myself, and 18gb is pretty useful.

NOTE: For idiots who think I was serious, psy is not a scammer. A scanner maybe, but not a scammer.
Or you could, you know, not mess around in sticky threads like this, which a lot of people use the SEARCH function to look up people, and might see a post like that and think it's serious.

When I try to use the Add a Friend Wizard: - I select "manual" - I copy Andrew Bitcoiners code from his codebox - I paste the certificate exactly into the box - I get the message: "Certificate load failed: Certificate is corrupted."
It seems like all of you are able to do this without any problems. Any clue why its not working for me?
It's pasting with invisible formatting. Copy and paste it into notepad, then re-select all, in notepad, and copy it, then paste that into RetroShare. I had the same problem at first.
|
|
|
How/where do I add - retroshare://forum?name=Bitcoin%20Emporium&id=c24b04363178c544251b99578a161ac0 To my RetroShare or do I need to friend a member of the forum/thread to reach it Yeah, I don't know how to get to that either, and I also can't seem to post or reply in any of the forums either, and I want to reply to the "totally-not-a-virus" penis_email post. :-(

I like this idea too, but I feel like that type of thing is already out there with torchat and other kinds of p2p networks and encryption. Whatever, I'll jump on this bandwagon too!... -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (MingW32)

@Eveofwar Heh, everyone has a panic threshold. Not too long ago I was at work. Not having enough work to do I checked bitcoinwatch. It showed a ridiculously low number of blocks/hour, something like 2.1 This got me thinking: wtf, better check the forums. Needless to say, the forums were down. When I realized that MtGox was also down a red light went off and I immediately sent an alarming message to Gavin himself, describing the situation Heck, when you're not at home you can't just take your time and research the situation carefully. Why would you bother Gavin? He surely would find out himself anyway. He's done so much, don't pester the poor man!

I'm worried about running my video card at full for long periods of time because I don't have any kind of cooling other than the chasis fan and the fan in the card itself. When I run the ocl version, it gives me a timeframe until the probability approaches 100%.
My question is, can I run it for a bit, then quit and run it later, or will it re-find the same old tries? Do I need to let it run until it finds it, or can I for example close it at 1% and then just look for 1% each day until I find it?
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I understand what probability means and that it's just brute force guessing, but the fact that it gives me a time frame makes me wonder if it has a certain starting seed, which would mean re-starting it over and over, doing a little each day, would not be effective in finding a solution.
So, do I need to run it all the way through or can I just do a little bit each day?

USA online poker player here; just bumping this thread so you might keep me in mind next time you want to exchange Stars money and bitcoins in one direction or another. It's currently quite a pain for me to get money in and out, so the occasional player transfer or chip dump would ease me troubles a little. If you're not comfortable with that, I understand, but I thought I'd post and at least let my presence be known.

There is a $1 trillion lawsuit that has been recently filed and is now officially confirmed by court documents. It targets various political groups and individuals (UN, Italy, Ban Ki-Moon, Berlusconi, etc.) and reveals a secret financial system behind the scenes in which much larger sums of money than normal are handled. http://divinecosmos.com/start-here/davids-blog/995-lawsuit-end-tyrannyhttp://divinecosmos.com/media/Keenan_complaint_11-23-2011_SDNY.pdf"MANHATTAN (CN) - An American expatriate in Bulgaria claims the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, the Office of International Treasury Control and the Italian government conspired with a host of others to steal more than $1.1 trillion in financial instruments intended to support humanitarian purposes. The 111-page federal complaint involves a range of entities common to conspiracy theorists, including the Vatican Illuminati, the Masons, the "Trilateral Trillenium Tripartite Gold Commission," and the U.S. Federal Reserve." http://www.courthousenews.com/2011/12/05/41930.htmThese groups basically operate as part of a larger criminal organization which include many of the ruling politicians and organizations of the western world. They have been suppressing, scamming and leeching off humanity for many decades if not centuries. They operate with huge sums of money numbered in the trillions and quadrillons. This whole system could be ending soon due to its coming to public attention.A money-making system like that will not crumble for any purpose whatsoever. Aboslute worst case for them is they pay a fraction of the stolen goods in fines and to settle, keep doing it, and then pay said fines again later. Ultra high scale white collar crime is the most profitable thing in the world to do, and it's not even CLOSE.

Some poker buddies and I recently thought we saw a few people at one of our tables attempting to signal to each other, which is a whole different story in itself, but it got me thinking about communication.
We have all this great communication technology which allows us to talk to each other in an encrypted way, but one of the security flaws is that other people still know with whom and at what time we are communicating. Sometimes even knowing who one is talking with is enough to discern an idea about the conversation, even if the actual message is still obscured.
(For example, if a terror suspect randomly called a suspected terrorist weapons dealer, that's reasonable evidence against both of them, even if the conversation is encrypted. Also, as another example, somebody theorized that Satoshi was either from Western Europe or the Eastern USA based on the times of his posts. So even if the communication is obscured, there is still information leakage based on many other factors.)
So I'm wondering if there's been any developments in the idea of obscuring the mere fact that you are communicating. I can't off the top of my head see specific uses for this or what application of it would look like, but it seems intuitively like it should be a useful idea.
Off the top of my head, I feel like implementation of it would require a ton of data continuously streaming so that any communication is mixed in with white noise, or maybe piggybacking some kind communication on top of normal protocols. But then, how do you alert somebody who doesn't know to be receiving without broadcasting the fact that you wish to talk to them to everybody?
Is this a dumb idea? Are there uses for it? What would it look like in practice?
This was just rumbling around in my head after our poker session and it FELT important, so I wanted to make sure I posted it and asked around before I just dropped it and forgot about it.

1. Ability to import private key with QR on a smartphone app. 2. Have a way to include current Bitcoin value being traded in each block or as an alternative cryptocurrency and not depending on Trade-Gox. 3. Have trusted online services able to allow you to use 'green' addresses that won't require confirmations. Their fees will be highly competitive and won't allow double-spend.
Someone also came up with a novel idea of having preset amounts in individual addresses, and instead of sending them bitcoins or doing a transaction, you send them the private key for an address that has more than your total, then THEY create the transaction and send themselves the money and you the change. Then they know the transaction can't be double-spent, and instead of a company trusting an individual who has nothing to lose, now the individual puts trust in a company who has everything to lose. That was a bit of a neat idea, but I think using green addresses, and also just not worrying about confirmations and double spends for small things is the easiest and most likely to be adopted approach.
