5402  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The United State Congress publicly supports cryptos on: April 28, 2018, 03:30:57 PM
You can read the full original report here. https://www.congress.gov/115/crpt/hrpt596/CRPT-115hrpt596.pdf

Unless I have been fooled, this THE 2018 JOINT ECONOMIC REPORT, Chapter 9 is fully dedicated to Blockchain technology, page 201. It talks about using blockchain to make the technological infrastructure more resilient, about the use for medical records, the huge public demand for knowledge, taxes and all the hot topics.

Overall Recommendations from the Report:

  • Policymakers and the public should become more familiar with digital currencies and other uses of blockchain technology, which have a wide range of applications in the future.
  • Regulators should continue to coordinate among each other to guarantee coherent policy frameworks, definitions, and jurisdiction.
  • Policymakers, regulators, and entrepreneurs should continue to work together to ensure developers can deploy these new blockchain technologies quickly and in a manner that protects Americans from fraud, theft, and abuse, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Government agencies at all levels should consider and examine new uses for this technology that could make the government more efficient in performing its functions.

Most countries don’t see bitcoin as a competitor or a threat but take some security measures regarding how secure could be; for example, United States consider bitcoin not a coin but a commodity according to the IRS but in a report in recent years showed that only a small amount of people declare they have bitcoins and they treated as criminals.

The problem with these countries is that most of them have a monetary policy that guide them and they’re the only authority established by the State to create money.; that’s why the United States in a Congress Report suggested to consider them as a commodity (due the price fluctuation) and not a currency.

Lots of people are using bitcoin in order to find some financial help to save their assets. For example, in Venezuela bitcoin’s demand is big because their currency is dead, it’s useless to save something with the Venezuelan bolivar and too difficult to find dollars (USD) so they use bitcoin in order to save the money and hope to gain some value. It’s affecting in a small scale to the economy and the State is prosecuting those who use bitcoin. No joke. They detained two engineers for mining.

Take a read at the document, there is much more information in there than just the usual Gov is bad, cryptos are this and that... They are clearly recognising the value of the technology and that means real money will be injected.

5403  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Is the Ivory Tower proof we shouldn't restrict other sections like the I.T.? on: April 28, 2018, 03:28:12 PM
I think this section is just perfect. It has never been about quantity and it is great that there are no DIRECT incentives (there are clear indirect incentives in the shape of merit). It is just the one place to go to look for merit deserving posts and top-class discussions.
5404  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Translation quality on: April 28, 2018, 03:23:54 PM
I do some works as Spanish translator for ICOs. I only take 3 to 4 translation and moderation tasks at the same time and put the time required into them. Also, not everyone out there that speaks two languages is able to properly translate documents with legal, technological, economic, medical, games and many other speciality contents.

I have read a few WP translated by colleagues, and I can only say that ICO managers tend to choose based on how many WP the person has previously translated and translators tend to take as much work as possible. Inevitably, this means that many translations are crap.

For example, last week I was choosen as a proofreader for a document with around 300 paragraphs of text and around 100 of them had noticeable issues and another 100 some short of small mistakes. This means that the person has not even taken a second read to the document.

To bounty managers: Make sure you are paying for something that has a reasonable quality and use always an idependent proofreader along with the translator. Your clients do not deserve having shitty papers that do more harm than good to their projects.

5405  Local / Altcoins (criptomonedas alternativas) / Re: ayuda para poder cambiar tron (trx) on: April 28, 2018, 03:08:26 PM

5406  Local / Tokens (Español) / Re: ✳️[PREICO][ANN]Xmoneta✳️APP TODO EN UNO para mensajes sociales y negocios✳ on: April 28, 2018, 03:03:53 PM
Una aplicación todo en uno ws muy posible que consiga un crecimiento viral. Puedes mandar tokens a los amigos o saldar un recibo con algún comercio y todo con la solidez de Ethereum.

5410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are you using ETH for? on: April 26, 2018, 04:56:02 PM
I use it as an investment and mostly for ICOs, I like multiplying my ether and I don´t play much attention to short term prices because I know it will eventually recover again
5411  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: El libro blanco de Bitcoin. on: April 25, 2018, 09:02:54 PM

5412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Security threat of IoT on: April 25, 2018, 08:48:38 PM
This is a very common topic, if everything is connected, everything is a potential security threat. Just think of a Stephen King style situation of all your household items attacking you and your car killing people around.
5413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Airdrops Profitable? on: April 25, 2018, 08:47:27 PM
No, normally they are not profitable, you have to spend too much time around researching the coin, selling it... and normally it won´t be more than 25 dollars or less.
5414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I am so stressful with trading coins, I lost 13000$ on: April 25, 2018, 08:44:17 PM
That´s a big ammount for most people, you should really re-examine your trading strategy and maybe even learn a bit more about trading before going into it again. I hope you recover soon.
5415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mysterious token in MEW. on: April 25, 2018, 09:30:13 AM
Can someone help me over this one? Since when I checked my MEW, I see a SPAM token in my wallet.

You can see it in this link.

The 1 token ERC-20 ETH Anonymizer. What should I do with it?

Either it is a spam token or an airdrop. Etherscan will mark known spam tokens if they are widely distributed. It is probably worth nothing, but take a look in coinmarketcap just in case.

In any case, you can leave it in there, it won't harm. If you get tired of it, send it to a non existing eth address with gas=1wei

5416  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Will gold and silver coins return as currency? on: April 24, 2018, 09:02:37 PM
Gold and Silver coins couldn't provide current money flow in the world, it will just stop economic and its growth (which will lead to ruining almost every business spheres). I don't see any reasons if its use in modern world. They are totally archaic.

nope and nope also. If you make gold and silver move as crypto they can provide a huge trade base. The reason to use these is very clear: Governments mismanage the fiat coins at their will serving interests that are alien to the people.
5417  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Billionaire Dies on: April 24, 2018, 09:00:05 PM
The media are a bunch of sloppy idiots--I read that he died on the way to a rehab and then that he died while AT rehab.  There's a big difference in what people can infer from each scenario without knowing anything else.  I suspect that he died before he actually got to treatment, which in my mind means he probably died of an overdose.  People going into rehab very often go on a drug/alcohol bender, since they always think it's the last time they're ever going to use substances.

But I'd need a follow up article on him to know for sure, and I'm sure the media won't do us the courtesy of writing one.

He blamed his doctors for his Oxycontin addiction, which I don't agree with.  The man sounded like a typical egomaniac type-A personality with a drug addiction attached--blaming everyone else for his problems...but whatever.  Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the sunshine this morning.  Rest in peace, Ripple billionaire.

He found the great equalizer.
5418  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Billionaire Dies on: April 24, 2018, 08:58:55 PM
99% of all the bitcoin is owned by 1% of all the users.

Bitcoin is an improvement to the monetary system only in efficiency. The main issue of the previous fiat currencies is more abundant in Bitcoin which is the concentration of the elites wealth making all other users slaves for the system.
Fair distribution and manipulation proof are the most important elements needed.

How did you get to those numbers? I mean, we are used to statements without proof in the forum, but also used to ignore them
5419  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Billionaire Dies on: April 24, 2018, 08:57:38 PM
XRP is not a cryptocurrency.

How can you say that? And from what site did you learn that Ripple (XRP) is not a cryptocurrency? I do know that it is a system created specifically for financial institutions while its coin (token) was given birth through ICO, when they were just gathering funds for the project. Anyways, to enlighten you, just visit its wikipedia page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ripple_(payment_protocol)

Is not a true crypto, just a guy´s private chain.
5420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $1000 which low capped alt coins should I go for? on: April 24, 2018, 08:55:21 PM
The classic ones won´t give you enough returns, and some of them are just for pump and dump. I would try with tokens like Policy Pal, Helbiz, FuzeX... particularly this last one should rocket in less than 2 months.
