5401  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 🔥Casascius 2013 Brass Authentic Custom Pendant Necklaces on: July 21, 2022, 06:42:19 PM
I'm curious if these necklaces (chains) are a custom made product for these coins or if it was an off the shelf item that happens to fit Casascius coins.  My interest being in perhaps having a silver or gold version made (or finding one that is already for sale) that could house a 39mm airtite capsule.  I'd love to rock one of my own creations in a chain like this and I'm sure others would have a similar interest as there are plenty of coin-makers here.  Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but the idea of wearing a minted seat around my neck as a conversation starter is pretty cool.  I do worry about corrosion though without the coin being in an airtite.
5402  Economy / Speculation / Re: Effect of Tesla bitcoin sale not significant on: July 21, 2022, 06:33:20 PM
I do not know why the news are bringing this up, no significant effect at all.

You're kidding right?  Their sale set off the liquidations of Celsius, Three Arrows Capital, Luna, along with several other major players.  Even the mention that Tesla sold 75% of their holdings caused a further 136 million dollars in liquidations.  Tesla actually performed God's work here, making sure that when prices do rise, it isn't the degenerate gamblers with tons of leverage that get rich, it's the people that stayed the course and stacked sats in their own wallets.  That's why people are talking about it.  It was a big deal.
5403  Economy / Reputation / Re: Am I abusing the trust system? on: July 21, 2022, 06:28:05 PM
My take is that if you're sending out more negative feedbacks than positive feedbacks, you're definitely doing something wrong.

I get that being a forum Karen is popular here for whatever reason, but to people that are actually doing things, the forum police are like Karens.  The folks out in the real world have started pushing back against these constant finger pointers.  I hope that energy makes it to the internet soon.  The people constantly leaving negative feedbacks are worse for the community than the wannabe scammers (who 99% of the time have no chance of raising a satoshi with their scam attempts) in my opinion.  It's like they think the only thing they can do to spam for their signature campaign money is to throw allegations at people.  The hate and negativity these people foster literally chases away all the talent that participates here.
5404  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Type of Gambler Am I? on: July 21, 2022, 06:19:48 PM
Casual Social Gamblers
Quote
Casual social gamblers gamble for recreation, sociability and entertainment. For them, gambling may be a distraction or a form of relaxation. Gambling does not interfere with family, social or vocational obligations. Examples of such betting are the occasional poker game, Super Bowl bets, a yearly trip to Las Vegas and casual involvement in the lottery.

I think I'm probably a casual social gambler.  I gamble to increase my entertainment value when watching an event.  I literally never gamble an amount of money that matters to me.  I think my largest bet ever was a couple hundred dollars.  I have no problem placing bets on anything, but honestly I couldn't care less if I win or lose.  It's more about the feeling of having something on the line and being connected to an event.  This is also why I like to bet on sporting events as opposed to slots.  Slot machines to me are like arcade games without the game.  Worthless.
5405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 21, 2022, 06:14:46 PM
Elon coming out now and saying that Tesla won't accept Bitcoin because he's not sure that it's made progress on the environmental aspect, which is a lie.  Someone should remind Elon that Bitcoin miners literally just saved the power grid in Texas, probably saving lives.  It's also reduced the practice of flares to burn excess energy and gotten countless people like myself to install solar panels and battery backups.  I think this was a financial decision and expect that maybe in a year when the Cybertruck starts being produced he'll bring back acceptance of BTC as a gimmick for Cybertruck sales.
5406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon musk is for crypto or just for attention to boost Tesla, SpaceX? on: July 21, 2022, 06:11:21 PM
First and foremost, Elon is in it for the money.  That's how you become the richest man in the world.  The most amazing thing about Elon is how he's able to frame the discussion around him.  He'll have you believing he wants to save humanity by making billions from cars and soon space travel.  You have to remember this is the guy that convinced the world he was helping populate our species when he cheated on his pregnant wife to get a co-worker pregnant.  He sold his Bitcoin because he thought it was the best financial choice to make.  There is no other reason.  If he gets back in, it will be to make money.  Period.
5407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 21, 2022, 05:48:29 PM
I can't believe that Harden says he took a pay cut to help the team, and then signed a deal for 34 million per year.  Did he think he was worth more than that?  I mean, maybe he could've gotten a longer deal elsewhere for more money, but he would've been a for sure buyout candidate in a year or two.  When he was going on about taking less money to help the team, I thought he'd sign for 16 million or something per year.  At 30+ million per year he is still overpaid for what he brings to the table, and I doubt he ever gets another deal making anywhere near that much again.
5408  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 20, 2022, 11:08:19 PM
Tesla sold 75% of their Bitcoin. Thank you for the cheap coin, Elon.

Good riddance! Paper hands Musk doesn't deserve to own BTC, get back to shilling your shitcoins you fuck...  Cool

Don't Tesla still hold 7000+ BTC?  I wonder if they will buy back before or around 29K again...

I also wonder how many BTC Elon now owns personally.

I'm hoping they don't buy back, but instead agree to start accepting it again.  This would probably be better news for the market.  Elon said that Tesla would start accepting again once it was shown to not be so harmful for the environment, and I believe that's been demonstrated beyond his requirements.  Elon also said that Tesla would pump but they would never dump, and then he dumped nearly a billion dollars worth of BTC on the market, so you can take what he says with a grain of salt.  I do hope this ends up being a positive somehow though.
5409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People are not only gambling to win but they are buying entertainment on: July 20, 2022, 10:46:08 PM
This is why casinos are the most profitable industry, many people are not playing to win, they all know that there is a house edge and they will eventually lose but based on the study, people are buying entertainment.

Of course people are paying for entertainment.  I vast majority of the people gambling must realize the odds are stacked against them.  They do it because the idea of maybe hitting it rich and having the best night ever is worth paying for.  Sure, most people don't have that experience, but if you keep playing long enough eventually you'll get a decent win worth celebrating.  The rush of maybe having today be the day you get the win of your life is too much for some to resist.  They get addicted to chasing that rush.  Like an athlete changing teams hoping to celebrate another championship.

Another rumor, Lakers re-engage with the Pacers, trying to get Hield?

Probably this is a back up plan for them, if they are not going to get Kyrie, at least a good back up point guard?

It could be THT/Nunn or maybe future pick (maybe too much to include this one) for Hield or

Hield/Turner for Westbrook.

What do you think?

I think they've reached the point where their best offer is on the table for Kyrie and the Nets best offer is on the table for Westbrook.  Now it seems like the Lakers are trying to find a backup trade to either make sure they don't get stuck with Westbrook or to put the pressure on the Nets to make a deal to get rid of their Kyrie problem.

As far as the new trade talks...  I think getting Eric Gordon and Buddy Hield for Westbrook would make the Lakers a much better team.  I'd still rather see Kyrie in a Lakers uniform though.
5411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt Gox OGs wanted for new podcast series on: July 20, 2022, 10:10:52 PM
Please reply/DM me if you are happy to talk about your side of the story, or you know someone who could help offer their experience.
I guess you could always try to talk with Judas Roger Ver, but I think he could be busy dealing with some court cases for dealing with many shitcoins and leverage trading.
He is not very much active in forum (his profile is MemoryDealers) but he is well aware of MtGox drama, and he publicly promoted it.... probably lost some money there as well.
This video was made several months before the collapse of MtGox:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP1YsMlrfF0

Good luck getting Roger to discuss this, but he would be the guy to talk to.  He's the reason I left some coins on mtgox as he was certain that everything being said was FUD and appeared to have been in communication with Karpeles.  I think this was the beginning of the downfall of Bitcoin Jesus.  He likely did get a lot of funds stuck in mtgox and many other people like myself probably feel like he's partially the reason why we're still stuck in this mess.  Not to place blame solely on him, but I definitely wasn't going to follow his advice to buy BCH after this took place.
5412  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 20, 2022, 10:05:09 PM
The news that Tesla sold 75% of their BTC is pretty big.  Everyone assumed it was leveraged companies being liquidated that was behind the recent fall in price, but now you can see Elon dumped nearly a billion dollars worth on the market as well.  That actually makes me feel pretty good about the state of the market.  This means that we just digested a bigger selloff then will happen with the mtgox funds and it also opens the door to Tesla being willing to accept BTC again to replenish their stash now that it's been depleted.  We're starting to see a build up of potentially positive market factors and the hurdles that remain are fewer and fewer.

2 - Perhaps there is a minimum amount that you need to send to the debit card to top it up, and you have sent somethine less than the minimum [it's not likely, given that you have successfully made this kind of transaction before].

This was the first thing that came to my mind upon reading the original post.  Especially when seeing the amount is 0.009916 BTC.  Maybe there's a 0.01 BTC minimum deposit amount and all that is needed is another small deposit?

platinumsteel2016,
In the past have your deposits been over 0.01 BTC?  Anything else that might stand out as unusual about your transaction this time?
5414  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Double spending is fraud on: July 20, 2022, 05:51:18 AM
I suppose I'm allowed a daily bump of this very busy topic.

The topic makes no sense.  I honestly have no idea what the below means.

"Making law extend to make digital monies is just apply wire codes too."

Clearly that is not a coherent sentence.  Are you asking for a law to be implemented for Bitcoin double spends and saying that they have a law for this applying to wire codes?  I assume by wire codes you mean wire transfers?  Who knows?  You'll have to do a lot better than that for a thread if you want people to discuss something.  No clue what you were trying to do here or why you're bumping it.
5415  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ AUCTION! ] Faces of Bitcoin artwork made by 23 carat gold and fire! on: July 19, 2022, 08:03:23 PM
Very cool.  I like that you posted the youtube video for people to see how much work went into this.  Certainly a bargain at the current price.  I've actually only seen this process done once before where gold is included into a custom wooden piece in this fashion.  It was from the once famous forum member WoodCollector who used this technique on a piece he created for me.  Besides the WoodCollector vibes, I can see this being something cool somebody will want.

Do you have any plans to take orders for custom pieces?

but even you eventually came to the right conclusion.. lazy devs (or more precisely devs only interested in features they get paid to implement)

The ultimate display of laziness is complaining about the lack of a feature in open source software.

I'm not sure if I'd agree with that.  Have you ever ordered DoorDash because you didn't feel like making yourself a meal?  That's the ultimate display of laziness.  Smiley

Complaining about lack of features in decade old software that's safeguarding a trillion dollars of value and being billed as the future of global finance seems reasonable.  It's crazy to me that there's no metamask style wallet for Bitcoiners to log into websites yet.  An entire generation of people are being introduced to crypto and don't even see Bitcoin as an option for them, because they're told they'll earn no yield and they're not supposed to use it for anything, just hodl it.  I don't blame people for moving to other coins that they can actually do things with.  Will we ever get a Bitcoin metaverse?  Who knows, but with blocksize restrictions and Lightning lacking usability/features, I know I won't be the one building it.

Harden will be 33 this August and after 2 years, he might be leaving his prime and his body will start to deteriorate and will be slower. If Harden is that desperate to win a title, he must do it in the upcoming season or next season or his chances to win will decrease. Harden's performance in the Sixers last season isn't the same as he is in Houston or even in Brooklyn. I hope that him and Embiid will be a good duo now that they have more time playing together and I hope both of them will not get any injuries because both of them are injury-prone.

The addition of Tucker is good actually because he is a good defensive player and a decent three-point shooter.

Harden has already been out of his prime for at least two seasons. In addition, his performance in the past playoffs was one of the worst in his career. By the way, it seemed to me Embiid was also disappointed in Harden, given that Joel said that Harden is no longer the same as he was in the Rockets. Anyway, it will still be interesting to see if Harden is able to improve his performance and win the first title next season or not.

I think everyone was disappointed by Harden's play last season, not just Embiid.  It's clear to see that his production has fallen off a cliff and he no longer has the athleticism to draw fouls on drives.  That is taking away from his ability to get defenders to fall for his moves and allow him to get open step back three point shots off.  Pairing him with a dominant big that can also space the floor like Embiid should get him a little more space to try and make shots, but I think if we're being honest, Harden's best attribute at this point is his playmaking ability.  I think he'll be a great addition to any team as a passer, but he'll never with a championship as the #1 scorer on a team.  Houston was his only chance at that.
5418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you bothered about what happens to your Bitcoin when you are no more? on: July 19, 2022, 07:29:58 PM
I am as bothered by what happens to my Bitcoin when I die as I am about what will happen when the sun engulfs the earth, or when our solar system starts colliding with others.  All I know is that it will likely be spectacular, full of wild events that nobody predicted, and leave a lot of heartache behind.  As Keanu Reeves once so eloquently put into words about what happens after we die, "I know that the ones who love us will miss us."

So my hope is more that I am missed than my coins are well spent.  Hopefully I've helped someone out there in some way to achieve this goal.

Between shipping costs and downtime, not to mention potential headaches and dealing with RMA departments...  I've found it's easier to just order cheap fans and do the replacement yourself.  It might cost you a couple dollars extra (or not depending on shipping costs) but you'll be up and running with almost no downtime and you'll learn a little bit about your graphics card.  Not trying to let the RMA centers down or anything, but I hate dealing with them.  I'd much rather repair it on my own quickly and easily.  Fans are pretty easy to swap.
5420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hyosun America will enable Bitcoin purchases in over 175 ATMs across the United on: July 19, 2022, 07:14:40 PM
This is a good thing as I'm sure they already have a money transmitter license.  I was shocked to learn that Celsius had been operating without a money transmitter license and I'm sure that most of the older Bitcoin ATMs were likely operated by people without the license as well.  Afterall, it is extremely expensive and not likely afforded by an individual (I tried several years ago).  It's this sort of moving towards compliance that is going to make sure Bitcoin sticks around a while and I'm glad to see big business embracing making it easier to purchase Bitcoin while most others are wanting to make it more difficult.
