The first day I was in Nashville back in '85, I picked up a woman named Mary that worked at Aladdin. She brought me to her home to spend the night. Three years later, I found myself in that same bedroom thinking to myself that I've been here before. I asked her where she worked and she replied, "Aladdin."

Cool story, bro.

Bear in mind, when you are logged in and the screen is unlocked, so is the login keychain.

As I type this, my login keychain is locked. I can't access stored passwords or notes without first entering my keychain password.

Tax refunds in BTC? Social security in BTC? Give us our fucking money back, permanently. Including the BTC of innocents and victimless criminals on Silk Road.

Assuming DPR is really who they say he is.

5427  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What are your thoughts for the US government temp. closing? on: October 08, 2013, 07:52:40 AM
Hopefully a bunch of people are keeping track of exactly what's getting shut down and what isn't. The big picture as I see it is that 1) some non-essential parts or subparts of government like the FCC are shut down passively 2) some non-essential parts of government like public land and memorials are actively, unnecessarily shut down BY PAYING MORE MONEY (for men with guns, barricades, moving equipment rental, etc) 3) parts of the government necessary to preserve life and property like federal civilian firefighters and nationwide kidnapping trackers (kidnapping is often across state lines, and a federal offense investigated by the FBI) are unpaid and shut down, respectively.

Anyone who admits to 2 and 3 should be unsurprised when people call for the abolition of government and replacement of it with private enterprise.
5428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see Silk Road's closure as a positive or negative? on: October 07, 2013, 08:57:30 PM
lulz...

So why is the Bitcoin price up by $20 then?

Depends on when/where your goalpost is set.

At MtGox the day before the SR shutdown, the price was hovering just over $140 USD. The day of the shutdown, IIRC it dropped to around $110.

Today's USD low is $135.12, high $139.

"Up by $20", to me, would mean the price is just over $160 USD.

1. He should of donated some of his proceeds to charity

Unfortunately I think it would have pissed off the bloody tyrants even more to see him personally doing good further than just enabling liberty.

Did you cancel this because of the bitcoin crash?

Why? If you float to USD, then the price goes up!
5434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SilkRoad domain Seized? on: October 02, 2013, 07:44:52 PM
If the blackmailer pretended to be his own assassin, that would explain why there's not a conspiracy/solicitation to commit murder charge. When law enforcement does contract killer stings, they don't do it for kicks, they do it to put cuffs on.
5435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SilkRoad domain Seized? on: October 02, 2013, 06:40:55 PM
1) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_230 immunity

What next, Craig Newmark (craigslist.org) going down for conspiracy to commit everything but murder?

2) Someone was texting me from 2 different numbers last night trying to fund SR. Gave me an invalid BTC address, and gave up

3) Wasn't there a news article just yesterday about Silk Roadies donating to charity? They must be stopped! http://allthingsvice.com/2013/10/01/when-drug-dealers-get-all-warm-and-fuzzy/#more-466

4) So the server was seized months ago, and the founder who was right there kept it running... as a honeypot for the government in exchange for what, exactly?

LOLWUT Tongue That said it would be nice if people posted some critique though I'm updating the website now and getting everything fixed up.

I'm saying the paradigm of storing bitcoins at private keys you don't exclusively control (so they can be stolen, with zero replacement insurance) itself is nonsensical shit, especially on a site called LOCAL, not Remote... Bitcoins.com.
5439  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why are people still using gox when there is no way to withdraw on: October 02, 2013, 06:43:24 AM
if anybody has any brains at all, they will abandon gox. it is just a matter of time until they die.

they are single handedly responsible for the crash in april

their customer service is utterly pathetic

they continue to rip people off everyday with inflated prices

READ THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL. it is just a matter of time until they die.

Feeling like hell will freeze over before then. It's been too long already.
5440  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: localbitcoins 0.0002 BTC withdrawal fees >.< on: October 02, 2013, 05:55:53 AM

ATMs would be just as bad or worse for fees. If I had the coding ability and my own hosting company, I would make the site I envision, and have sellers paying an equal share of the hosting fees to be able to advertise, so the more sellers that sign up, the less each one has to pay.

THat's what I mean, we will end up getting ripped off with who ever implements an ATM system. Just look at the bank fees for ATMs already.

Are you saying if you had your own server farm, physically or a hosting company? A hosting company doesn't necessarily have servers on site or even close to the normal office. Your business plan sound good though.  So fees would be X amount and that would be offered as a formula like users/X so the more people that sign up the smaller their "fee" for the site would be. I have not seen anything like this. We should talk more about making that a reality.

Exclusive physical control over a server and the running expenses, I guess. Also as totalitarian government-resistant as possible on the light web, with encrypted messaging and other protocols. I'm full of grand plans, but can't execute most. With my luck, I couldn't even afford to sell on that site unless I ran it, and gave myself a free ad space.
