Does this Bitcoin thing provide new and interesting ecommerce sales opportunities?  We are looking to find out how!  Hello Bitcoin.
Absolutely yes. The biggest advantage being bitcoin Tx are not reversible in nature. Hence, while you are selling online, there is no risk of chargeback.
agree and unlike credit cards, Bitcoin does not require any personally-identifiable information

Worse then credit cards is ebay and paypal.  Even if you take out the scammers on it.  They charge a massive amount.

It's like they can double dip on charging you.  They hit up you on ebay for fees as seller, then they take fees from paypal which almost everyone uses on ebay.  If they offered bitcoin with escrow it would be amazing compared to current fees.
5442  Other / Meta / Re: can we vote on banning people ?..... on: October 16, 2015, 03:40:00 AM
I also don't think this is really needed, however I suggest you to lock the thread (to prevent the spam).

I just think the chance of people abusing it is to great.  If this happened it could severly effect someone without cause.

I think this is why we have/need mods.  We need a person who should not have an agenda on either side to look at a user and see if it is crap.  Also deciding how long ban based on how crappy.

I don't want human element of staff removed from this process personally.
5443  Other / Meta / Re: Seriously? "WARNING: This user is a newbie.." on: October 16, 2015, 03:36:34 AM
Let's come up with solution better than this Smiley
nah.

I think this is the best situation.  I would agree with not moving it.

No one mentions the problem there once was with people typing usernames VERY close to others and trying to scam.  And majority were newbie accounts.  So this stops someone from taking a user name from selling or auction and trying to phish some info or btc out of people.  It is very nice.

5k is too much
I can get 2.5k to host 28 s7's
$70 per kW per month
28 s7's use 35kw

Can you please stop talking to yourself in one-liners. This thread has dozens if not hundreds of subscribers who get alerts of your monologue. Surely you can spare a couple of minutes to make a single coherent post instead of the above. Thank you.

He's done about 10 sets of triple posting of either random stuff, off topic or quoting himself in this thread. Then an entire trove of off topic one liner single posts. Just another account farmer or shill wanting to level up.

I almost think part troll.    I can't decide if it is a account being horribly farming an account.  Or if wanting responses and trolling.

It is almost a mixture of the two really.  And put that in a thread that people are not happy with not receiving on time or other issues, its like asking for a explosion of words at some point.
5445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: October 16, 2015, 03:16:26 AM
I was out of town all day Wednesday for a funeral so I think ordering a prototype board by Friday is out of the question - probably Monday. Two funerals in one year is pretty bad, but this one was 94 years old so not as rough as my 25-year-old cousin this summer.

Anyways. I intend to have the layout finished and order some prototype PCBs come Monday. If I can get a couple working (which will depend on Novak's code as much as my hardware, since this is a device requiring firmware and drivers) I'll probably run a raffle and maybe then look at pre-orders for an initial batch. No money yet.

Some things are more important out there then bitcoin or money.  My condolences on your situation.

No need to even worry about updates in times like that.  I wish you and your family the best.

Might have some S7's during this period to push it up.  If not the next one.  But it's coming.

i hope someone finds a way to make a custom rom and installs the relayd package so you can use it as a repeater.. this would open up some usefulness.

It do really need to be able to be a repeater. Ether way this is almost useless.

Honestly it's not the best router, it's not made as router in it's main use.   So if looking for a true repeater get a different router that is focused on being a router.

This is a lotto device and router second.  You could argue 3rd is router if you see U3 controller as 2nd.  But if your expecting a fancy router chances are this is not the device for you.

I have not got mine yet to play with but I will post once I do.  I just see a lot better routers out there if your wanting a router.

lacking the default bridge or repeater mode really handicaps this things usefulness..

and as far as a router goes.. if you have comcast, or any other provider..they already gave you one..

what i was hoping for was a small, outlet repeater that had usb so i can plug in a usb hub and throw some usb miners on it and bridge my s5 to it..
the ui this thing has is fantastic and i think will work perfect for sidehacks compac usb miners. i just dont know why they left out a basic function that could have been so easily added.

I hated the one they gave me on my internet.  It was such a pain from ISP.  Eventually I got them to put it in bridge mode where nothing but modem is turned on with their router.

I then use a asus blackhawk as my main router.  Which works great as I have many devices.  Also the 1 gigabit internet needed a pretty good router to not loose speed a lot of routers are not made or gigabit.

I can't wait to get to play with the R1 hopefully in a few days.

It's almost like spamming.   He offered to help bitmain as well, clearly a customer cannot help bitmain.

Also almost trolling when he said how hard it is for bitmain:
Rough for any company when they get crushed with more orders than they can handle.

Wolfen if you keep doing one liners there is a good chance of temp ban.  One liners and almost trolling is not going to work good here.  I suggest taking a day or two from thread.
5449  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: October 16, 2015, 01:12:56 AM
As always I can front 2btc and not pester you about payment or gear.

I don't trust many companies but I would agree deepening price I also would be interested in pre-order of pod.  And also same no pestering about delivery knowing it would come when it's done.  So no trying to rush you.

I think a lot would pre-order with no pestering a lot interested if you need money up front.  But I know you don't really like to pre-order.  But if you change mind ever just let us know.
5450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: October 16, 2015, 01:06:06 AM
1) Sig campaign. i do it, simple and easy to join
2)A faucet rotator. some times i do it if i have more time
3) Gambling NO don't do it
4) Investing  you must research before invesst

I would put X next to faucet rotator aswell.   Even if you have time it is a waste.

How much are you making per hour?  Normally it's cents per hour which is crazy low payment.
5451  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Dead Antminer s5 on: October 16, 2015, 12:57:04 AM
Hi guys my antminer s5 is dead, the beagle bone died (already did the micro sd reimaging thing, it didn't work), I don't want to wait 3 weeks and spent 62$ buying a BB from amazon when i have no bullet proof tutorial about how to make it work (and add 2 months to ROI).

I ask for your help because i had seen that the daughter board has two empty data connector for hashing blades and an empty fan connector.

So my question is, what does it takes to build a 4 blades s5?

      A) Do I just connect the two blades and fan from my broken antminer?

      B) Connect the 2 hashing blades, and intercept the fan cables of  good miner and splice them with the fan of my broken miner?

I was wondering if there is no damaging side effect from doing this?

I have the Jan 07  Firmware, the one that came with the 5 machines.

Any help or advice that you could provide will be really appreciated .

Mine run fine with just plugging the blade cables into the S5 next to it. The only problem is the cables are short so you need to put them on their sides head to head. I use 1 fan per S5 so i use up the 2 Fan connectors.

Then i put a box fan blowing air through the fins and it solve the clutter heat problem and it let me lower the fans to 25%.

The biggest thing is firmware I cannot remember which one does it but only certain ones have 4 ports active.  Others you can plug it in on hashing modules and it would do nothing.

I would look through S5 thread and find out which one it right firmware.  Then find someone who sales the cables and get longer cables so you can leave them in old case.

With those 2 things you should be able to mod one into 4 blades.

is there some reason that i am unaware of to not use the latest firmware with fan controls? Seeing how loud those things are without it, the first thing i do is flash any S5 i buy to the fan control firmware.

I don't have latest firmware and have always done fine.   I don't mind loud noise from fans with it being in my mining area.

But I'm kinda the type I don't upgrade unless it gives me a feature I want.  I'm of the mindset if it works good... why upgrade? So I don't upgrade much.
5452  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Recommended Safety & Cooling on: October 16, 2015, 12:48:53 AM
Hey Again Everyone!

Well, I am up and running now! I did shutdown my unit last night because the units fan was LOUD! I want to make sure I am running this safe and have proper cooling! I have a extra room in the grudge that is air conditioned but I would need to connect the S5 via Wi-Fi. Any tips?

I like wiring cable if possible.  But you can buy a device to use as WIFI.   If it is air conditioned just monitor it after.  One miner should not be bad since you have AC.

One thing I might warn if you grow using AC to cool devices is high as far as what it costs.    Using evaporation cooling, or lots of CFM are cheaper over time.   And winter is coming up for many and free cool air.   So keep those in mind.

I am talking 20 S7 Antminers @ 24KWatts.  Yeah gross would be around $6k per month which would leave a net of $1k per month after paying the $5k to the data center.  My ROI would be 3 years.  That is not a good!

There must be some error in the quote. Nobody charges that much. For example, it would cost about 1300 USD to host at my datacenters at 57 USD / kW. Other datacenters from Canada charge about this rate too.

I just went back to the quote:

16 kW at $340/kW for a monthly fee of $5,440 with a one time setup fee of $1,500.......The grand total monthly was $$5,790 with a One Time Install Fee List Price of $2,500........ This is crazy!!!!!

$340/kW?  That is absurdly high.  You should be looking for a host in the $60-$75/kW range.

I did math earlier and I don't believe anyone would charge this much if based on asic hosting.  If he went to a regular server farm.... possibly if very top tier.

But they would not be geared for asics.  Look into asic hosting it is much cheaper and has more cooling then normal hosting.
5455  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: October 15, 2015, 11:30:30 PM
The only thing is if we do it I would like to have a shared login (normally i'm against shared but it saves us doing 25 accounts).  That way we can each log into it and see it ourselfs to.

Meh, then you have to trust every person who sends Phil btc not to go rogue and steal the account for their personal use.  I'd rather just trust Phil with the log in, after all, the point here is to make his reporting and monitoring for the club easier, not to give us all a tool to use.

Phil, please confirm you control the club address (I didn't see that in any of your initial posts) and I will send 0.01.  If you still refuse it, well, it can sit in the club address until we hit a block, or you can send it on to sidehack or something.

I better control it.  I will let you all put in .01   I will then pull the .1 out thereby making sure I control it.

As for giving it thought if this site is good I will give login to two others.
It allows more then 1 of us to look it up.

I am going to eat dinner then check the site out.

Have a good dinner.  Once you get back let us know a address that works for you on sending it to.

After you tell us that I will send my .01 to it.

Did you folks with 3.0 Kg orders also have Power supplies? There are reports that Bitmain will ship PSU's in advance of the miner itself.

I would think 3.0 Kg as being "light" for the miner.

No PSU ordered here just a miner

I'm pretty sure UPS will send me a bill in the mail for a "brokerage" fee of maybe $35 to $40 but we may also have to make up the difference in weight.  Only time will tell.  I'm not going to worry about and just wait for the bill to come in the mail from UPS.

Really?? I have never had UPS bill me before on miners. I am having this one dropped off at my local UPS Store as not to miss the delivery. It will be interesting if they try and collect anything from me.

Really,

I had a shipment of 6 x S5's from Bitmain in which I had to pay a brokerage fee of $39.29.  I've had other shipments from Bitmain with no brokerage fee at all.  I think it's kind of a hit or miss thing.

It is very true you can read me on PSU's https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1165628.msg12697178#msg12697178 .  But if they ship for less then actual and are caught the cost goes to the one they shipped to.

So I guess it's luck.  But once they get known for doing it I predict more and more people see these bills.  And again be careful it looks like junk mail to me on it, but is a legit bill from shipper.
5457  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] AntRouter R1 + US power adapter - .185 BTC on: October 15, 2015, 11:12:34 PM
R1s have arrived!

The boxes are much smaller than I had imagined, so shipping costs should be low. I won't have time to play around with one of the units until this weekend, but I did plug one in without an adapter and it fits snug in my US standard wall outlet.

Since I haven't received the US adapters, I am providing two options for existing orders

1) Ship the R1 free of charge, buyer has the option to buy their own adapter if needed(I don't think they are necessary)
2) Pay R1 shipping costs and receive a free adapter when they arrive.

Future orders will not include the adapter unless specifically requested.

This is great news!  Thanks for doing the group buy.

Cant wait to see this thing in person.  It will be one fun device to play around with.  I'm really interested to see how they do with controlling U3's.

51.90% Luck for the last 5 UGH!!!! Lets hope some green start coming our way. Glad that block is over though.

I was playing with this pool thought it would be intersting.  And yea ouch it's starting to hurt on luck.

I'm hoping we see some change I can understand why it varies.   But we can all agree almost 50 percent is not a fun to sit at.

I can understand you point on that.  That would suck if it can be taken over by someone.  I just enjoy watching things.

Kinda sad if we cant trust other's in the club, but I can see how one time of being taken over would double cost to get another account so not good.

Has anyone actually got the PPS pay for being lat on shipping?  I was just curious if they really have done this or not for people yet.

The showing of shipped, and no info is kinda scary.   Hopefully they check into that more.
