Great! As always there is no bitcoin related article without little drama:
"Bitcoin has also become the currency of choice for online ransom payments because Bitcoin addresses can be created without providing any personal information. The Cyber Threat Alliance released a report last week estimating that hackers had collected $325 million from CryptoWall, a virus that can freeze a computer’s files until an electronic ransom payment is made."
Bitcoin is currency of choice of terrorist and criminals, how cute. That is the main idea normal person, non bitcoin user will remember after reading this article.
Yes, but average reader must know all the facts about the topic of article, not just the good ones, else it's not journalism but rather advertisement. imho most of the investors don't care who uses it or on what, as long as it is a prosperous investment and their funds grow over time. True, but at least it wasn't a total hit piece like some of their past articles. Will the average reader be able to tell? I don't know, I'm not average. I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of cascading effect when other news sources pick up on this story. Could be the start of another huge bubble...

I had some problems as well, 2 transactions took over 6 hours to confirm. Pretty annoying when you're trying to pay for something :-/

Wouldn't it be possible in theory to see where this extra volume is coming from?

You might want to be a little more specific about what kind of reviews you want. Looking for reviews on physical products or services? Any product/service categories that you want to avoid (i.e. gambling, adult content, etc)?

I think we'll see the prices fluctuate for at least a couple of days and hopefully they'll stabilize above $300.

Your post has inspired me to start solo mining myself with 2 antminer S3's I hope I'll get as lucky as you..

Never happening unless Bitcoin gets hit by a 51% attack. I really doubt that the majority of full nodes will start consenting to blocks which don't follow the normal rules of the halving of the Bitcoin reward unless some kind of fork like Bitcoin-XT goes mainstream, which I doubt.
Looking at the current situation, I'd say chances are slim that we'll see something like Bitcoin-XT take off. Plus reward halving is beneficial for miner since it creates hype and drives the prices up, in theory at least

Looking good but I thought there would be a stable release around now. Also waiting for Windows binaries.

You can indeed try the currency exchange thread or the loans thread. Or you might be able to find someone on http://www.paxful.com

This is pretty neat, I might add some altcoin prices for personal use.

It would certainly be a great alternative over payments by phone credit, those fees are pretty huge. But I'm not sure if Bitcoin is mainstream enough already for that to work.

Buying loads of coins at around $100 was not a bad decision for me. It was pretty clear that the $1000+ prices were a bubble, I sold most when it hit $1100, I believe. Just kept a few to play around with and tripled them over time.

I would really recommend buying them from the site itself, to avoid getting scammed.

I'm guessing if these prices hold up, we'd see a lot of people going back into mining again. Good times ahead, I hope.

I almost always give something to homeless people and have a conversation with them. They usually thank me and most of them are pretty friendly when you treat them like a human being. (not saying you didn't) It's pretty bad in Brussels, I know they're probably using the money to buy alcohol or drugs, but since they're living on the streets I don't blame them.

Never really liked that phrase either, I think it does sound immature.

The Ponzi owners are cashing out! I seriously believe the 'Gambling' section of this forum has driven this bubble in large part - a subforum of that section!
Sure? How can you say that? Do you really think there are so much money ( BTC) involved in the gambling section? Do you have any reference or something you could give to what you have just said? He's delusional. No gambling or scam can fuel a hype like that. It was the articles about Bitcoin that came up recently and the possible lifting of chinese ban Agreed, these prices are clearly driven up by the Chinese. No way the gambling section has this much influence over the price.

actually im suprised litecoin is "living" still... it has no value, no exchanges, no infrastructure, no hash security power, nothing :O
Wouldn't it be possible for someone to start development again? I mean with this kind of trading volume, the coin still has a lot of potential.

I have also deposited 2 days ago and the amount is not credited in my account. Ticket #858.
Thanks!
Edit: Ticket resolved, thanks!

Honestly there isn't anything worth investing at. Of course you can always gamble and think, let's put some money on RUB (Russian Rubble) and hope that it goes up.. but that's about it. It's way more exciting to be part of the Bitcoin revolution by owning Bitcoin, than owning some deprecating fiat currency in hopes it goes up by a small %.
I honestly think Russian Rubble would be one of the worst investments atm, their economy isn't doing too great either.
