5481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Go and get your coin!!!! on: July 07, 2022, 07:11:46 PM
No one should be flogged into buying any coin, to me it’s really not professional to do so, and many time when it backfires the person that bought the coin always blame crypto-currency and the person that advised him to go and get a coin in the first place

This is a legitimate concern when talking with people about Bitcoin.  I have people I told to buy Bitcoin at $2 coming to me now and telling me they finally bought at $50,000 and wish they hadn't because it's a scam.  It's just the way human nature works unfortunately.  People want to buy the hype at the top and then they sell when they don't immediately make a ton of money, then they look for someone to blame for their losses.  This blame others attitude is something I've faced quite a bit as an early Bitcoin accepting vendor.  I still have people mad at me to this day because I sold them silver a decade ago for Bitcoin.  At the time I was praised for accepting BTC, but now I'm blamed as the reason these people didn't make a fortune...  Personal accountability is rare.
5482  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hash Ribbon Update - Capitulation Again? on: July 07, 2022, 07:03:56 PM
This seems like the age old argument of whether Bitcoin price follows hashrate, or whether hashrate follows the Bitcoin price.  I am a believer that people add new hashrate when it's profitable to do so, meaning they are reactive to the market price.  I doubt big businesses are doing their cost calculations and deciding to expand when it isn't profitable to do so (although historically this has been the move when spending USD on miners).  So I believe that you've got your post backwards and the hashrate is reacting to things slower than you think.  It takes time for operations to react.

Judging from the size of this drop in hashrate (a drop for ants), I would say that we also have very different opinions when it comes to capitulation.
5483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 07, 2022, 06:58:21 PM

Last season, he only played 17 games (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/porzikr01.html), which would not help a team succeed. IIRC, Wizards had some good start last season but when injuries hit them, they go down in standing until they are now anymore in the top 10. I think they should get rid of him and surround Beal with healthy players, that way they'll be able to see a positive production for Beal and the team in the coming new season.

Maybe yes or try to give him that equal chance and see, by the way trades will happen if they don't see any improvement

and if they see that the value of the asset that they acquire is not worth and not really helping Beal, there are always options
for Wizard since there's still a team that might be interested in KP,

We never know how the upcoming season will be for this team. If they improve, then it's good, but if not, then another
experiment needs to be worked out to surround Beal leading the team.

The Beal contract is horrendous.  Let's be honest, he's 29 years old, probably peaked, and hasn't won a thing.  Giving him a quarter of a billion dollars seems insane.  Especially considering it has a no trade clause.  The Wizards are certain to be fighting to make the playoffs for the next half a decade as a result.  Too bad they didn't keep John Wall, they could have the 2 worst contracts in the NBA on their team.  I like Beal.  He's a solid player and on a team like the Warriors he could have played the Wiggins role.  Compared to similar players though, he's worth about 30 million a year.  Giving him 50 per is basically admitting that nobody wants to play for your sorry franchise so you have to lock down an above average player at top dollar.
5484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Web5 a "catch phrase"? on: July 07, 2022, 02:57:58 AM
I don’t care what they call it. I just hope they figure out a way to get new users to care about Bitcoin again. It’s starting to feel like nobody owns Bitcoin outside of fund managers these days. You can walk into a bar and nearly everyone will have some shitcoin with a crazy use case to pitch you but nobody owns Bitcoin. It’s viewed as a coin you need to buy shitcoins, but with the popularity of USDT & USDC, people don’t even need BTC for that anymore. Call it web69 if you want… If people can’t login to their Facebook accounts with a signed Bitcoin message before they can connect a metamask, you can kiss goodbye the next generation of Bitcoiner… Our toxic leaders are dragging us down the path of the Beta tape & 8-track. I hope the first mover crypto advantage and decentralized talking points can hold up long term because the toxic maximalism won’t.
5485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is this video card? on: July 07, 2022, 01:59:40 AM
NGreedia is done for. The entire AMD lineup will be significantly more power-efficient this generation for gaming. The top-end Navi 31 die will match the RTX 4090 in gaming performance while using 20-30% less power and being cheaper to make than the huge Nvidia 800mm+ monolith die.

However, all 3 manufacturers will offer poor memory bandwidth. This means current-gen cards will still be the most economical for mining and will hold their value as long as PoS is delayed & we're in a crab or bull market.

AMD’s products have been kicking nvidia’s ass for a while now. The Radeon VII is still the best GPU I own and outperforms the 3xxx GPUs I have that came out much later. Nvidia has good software and I’d give them the advantage there. As far as which GPUs I’ve found to be the best after mining for more than a decade, Radeon products are hands down the clear favorite. Nvidia is a bigger company though, so don’t expect them to be “done” anytime soon.
5486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What If Bitcoin Fall?? on: July 06, 2022, 09:52:16 PM
what if bitcoin falls??

What if it doesn't?  What if this is the new global store of value that the powers that be use to resolve debts with each other?  What if this is a once in a lifetime chance to buy a Bitcoin before governments and big business snap them all up for themselves?  Sure, it might fail and we all might have lost a bunch of time and money chasing this dream of the separation of money and state.  I think we probably all learned a lot though and hopefully had some fun along the way.

You can ask what if it fails.  I'll keep asking what if it doesn't.
5487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Tommy Fury / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug 6th on: July 06, 2022, 09:42:06 PM
I just don’t think the Fury vs Paul fight is ever going to happen. I think Tommy Fury is looking for every excuse in the book which is odd considering he has literally zero pedigree, you would expect he’d just take the big pay day that comes with the Paul circus & do everything possible to make that fight happen.

I have heard that Hasim Rahman Jr will definitely be Paul’s next opponent though.

https://www.the-sun.com/sport/5712382/jake-paul-hasim-rahman-jr-tommy-fury/

Interesting.  I hadn't heard that but I guess we'll find out for sure tomorrow.  He's definitely going to take some heat for choosing the fight someone he spars with.  You might even say this is him giving one of his friends a payday if that's the case.  I don't think this is going to go a long way in convincing the world that Jake Paul is for real, but he's been training so he's got to fight someone.  It seems like the Jake Paul train is running out of steam.  Hard to believe with all the fighters talking smack about him that he has a hard time finding opponents.
5488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 06, 2022, 09:38:50 PM
As volume starts to settle down and we enter a sideways period in the short term, it seems like we're building for a big move.  I think in the coming weeks we're going to see the market choose a clear direction.  You can feel the mood changing from trying to liquidate users to trying to scoop up cheap BTC.  Now that Celsius is out of the danger zone and has seemingly survived their liquidity scare to avoid being liquidated, it seems like the market is digesting the situation and seeing what other dominos are going to fall.
5489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Open BitcoinZ wallet on: July 06, 2022, 09:15:57 PM
How to open BitcoinZ wallet.dat locally on my PC?

What do you mean by "how to open BitcoinZ wallet.dat" on your PC?  Are you looking for it's location or some way to view the contents inside?  I think if you better explained what it is you're trying to accomplish, someone might be able to help you.

Also, you posted this in the altcoin section.  If you posted it in the Technical Discussion section you might find all the help you need with whatever it is you're trying to do.

Good luck!
5490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New to staking - is this worth it? on: July 06, 2022, 09:11:52 PM
I read somewhere to make sure you know where the funds come from to pay you for staking.  If you don't know where the funds come from to pay investors, then chances are that they're coming from people like you making the investment.

Staking is tempting because everyone wants passive income, but if the staking is just diluting your investment then it isn't going to be a positive thing for you.

In short, do your research, know where the profits are coming from that you're counting on when making your investment.  That being said, I have recently staked mSAND in the Sandbox and really like what they're building over there.
5491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: WHY is Terra pumping ? on: July 06, 2022, 09:09:33 PM
For some reason people love to try and catch a bottom for quick gains on a bounce.  I'm not sure why, but it seems like every new investor goes through this stage.  They see stocks lose 99% of their value and then want to catch a quick jump for profits...  After a few decades in the market you learn to avoid these types of investments like the plague.  At some point you realize that trying to make money off shit investments when they bounce is a fool's game and you're far better off owning good investments for a long time.  Nobody wants to hear that, but 10% a year is good and what people should expect when investing.
5492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Tommy Fury / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug 6th on: July 06, 2022, 09:05:35 PM
I can't believe that Tommy Fury backed out of yet another fight with Jake Paul.  This has got to be embarrassing for his family at this point.  Jake is tweeting that he's once again going to take a last minute fight against someone else.  It's starting to seem like this is his strategy to be honest.  I guess we'll find out tomorrow who he's going to be fighting in a couple of weeks.  Hopefully it's another real boxer so we can stop hearing about how Jake is taking on easy fights for his record.  A KO is always nice as well.  Smiley
5493  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia Now Demands Rubles For Grain As World’s Largest Wheat Exporter on: July 06, 2022, 08:53:49 PM
And when it is all over and Russia wins the squabble, Ukraine will be the scapegoat... "They simply didn't fight hard enough." Meanwhile, Russia continues to get rich.

I sure hope not.  I know I won't think that.  It seems pretty clear to me that Ukraine was fighting a losing battle, but fighting it hard.  The US has been supplying them with weapons and money to draw out this conflict and try to impose financial penalties on Russia.  At this point it has to be pretty clear that Russia is playing chess while the Biden Administration is playing checkers.  Now we watch as the US Dollar loses it's place as the currency of trade for one commodity after another until it has completely lost it's reserve currency status.  Biden's presidency is going to be felt via a lowered standard of living for generations to come.
5494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin's price "basically a fire sale"? on: July 06, 2022, 08:48:07 PM
I'm not sure I'd say it's a fire sale.  This is the level that seemed obvious we would fall to when looking at a chart of the price.  I think a fire sale would be a price under $10K.  Not saying now isn't a good time to be buying...  I'm sure we're close to the bottom.  Like pretty much everyone else I'm seeing $13K as a likely bottom, but I'm also seeing a rise to new highs once that is behind us and things like the gox coins aren't hanging over the market.  So don't go mortgaging the house Saylor style to buy BTC just yet, but do go ahead and start growing your stack and getting your plan in place going forward.
5495  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bank of America reported a 50% decline of active cryptocurrency users. on: July 06, 2022, 08:45:10 PM
Well, I can say that when BTC was at $50,000 I had a dozen friends ask me about buying in.  I pretty much told them all the same thing, "We're in the 9th inning of this bull run, if you buy in now and don't immediately take profits you'll probably lose money."  None of them listened and most of them decided to buy shitcoins instead of Bitcoin.  Some of them bought miners.  Now, all the miners are shut off and all the shitcoins have been sold except for the ones who refuse to take a loss.  I try to tell them that now is the time to be getting in for the next cycle, but they only want to chase get rich quick schemes, not invest.  I imagine that's pretty common with what is happening in the market right now.
5496  Economy / Gambling / Re: ➡➡ STAKE.COM customer service cheated on weekly boost on: July 06, 2022, 08:23:34 PM
A site is not gonna give you 5$ each week if you wager 5$ lmao. They would go broke quick if they did that for every player. Maybe try uploading some images of your conversation and proof.

That was sort of my take on this as well. Even the bonus he’s complaining about receiving seems pretty generous when you consider they work on likely small margins. This is why you should gamble for entertainment and not to make money. You find yourself complaining about the bonuses you receive not being enough. Without evidence and a better lined out example of what went wrong besides the bonus being lower this time than last time, it’s hard to take seriously.
5497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 06, 2022, 06:33:56 AM
Chet Holmgren looking like a good prospect. He put up 23 points, 7 rebounds, & 6 blocks (summer league record) along with shooting 4/6 from three point range. The Thunder might have themselves a good rookie on their hands. He’s going to need to put on weight but Giannis did it. With Chet’s size and skills he could be a very interesting player to watch as he starts his career.
5498  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need someone's help. If you can help that would be great on: July 05, 2022, 09:32:34 PM
It does appear that you've been compromised from a quick look.  The address your funds ended up at seems to be doing this to other addresses as well.  You can see in some cases the wallet owner would even send additional ETH to their address, thinking maybe something went wrong, only to have that ETH transferred to the new address also.  If I were you, I would consider this address compromised and move everything out ASAP.  The problem you might find is that you will have difficulty getting ETH into your address to be able to pay gas to transfer out your assets.  Maybe someone else knows how to help you here, but I'd be very concerned about anything tied to that address if it were me.

Thank you.  It is good to still be alive.
5500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally, I Bought Something With Full Payment In Bitcoin. on: July 05, 2022, 07:49:45 PM
Nice!  If this helps better your life it is no doubt a great purchase.  I nearly made a similar purchase back in 2015 (or somewhere around there).  A member of this forum had a Harley for sale and I wanted it so I made an offer.  I believe he was asking somewhere around 75 BTC and I offered 69 BTC for it.  We haggled a little bit but eventually couldn't come to a deal.  This year I purchased an all electric motorcycle (Sondors Metacycle) for around 0.08 BTC.  I'm glad I got lucky and was able to dodge a bullet there.
