5521  Other / Meta / Re: Adding a ‘Use a brand new username’ sign on Bitcointalk sign-up page. on: November 11, 2019, 04:38:38 AM
1. You can never change your username.
This would be a better option to add, when I was registering on the forum, I thought usernames could simply be edited and changed when the user felt like it, just like some other platforms I was on before I came into the forum. If I had known It is not possible or very difficult(based on what is required to do so)i would have chosen a different username, even though I've fallen in love with this one, it'll still be good to let new users know about that part of the forum.
Originally, whether people want to have privacy (from their usernames) or not, they should never use their real names for their forum account's usernames.
Using real names is not a problem at all, there are probably more than 1000 people that have the same name all over the world, if you do not declare your identity, you cannot be linked to anything.
5522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: November 11, 2019, 04:19:32 AM
Lots of missed and close chances and the handball -_
The handball is what a lot of people will be talking about for a very long time, for me it was two givable penalties, why it wasn't given is what I don't know, I think the footballing body needs needs to address this issue of handball, when is it and when it's not, because there are games you'll watch and that's two penalties for two handballs, but yesterday there was nothing doing from the referee and VAR, that's inconsistent.
I choose Fabinho one.  Cool
It definitely was Fabinho's, his strike was so clean, though the handball by Arnold few seconds before was the only blemish, but the goal stood, and it indeed would be amongst the goals of the season.
5523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: November 10, 2019, 07:56:14 PM
Juventus - Milan
Milan have lost more than half of their games in Serie A
And they will probably lose tonight, even if every bone in my body want them to win so inter can stay top, AC Milan have been consistently terrible this season, the have not had anything going their way, even the change of manager didn't seem to change much. This is a big game, it could be an avenue for them to pick up some momentum and try and climb up to the top half of the table.

Juventus should win this game, not comfortably though, I think the first half will end in 1 goal apiece and juve will add another in the second half. Juve will win this one, correct score 2.1.
5524  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fake Coinbase Giveaway, Stay Away on: November 10, 2019, 07:12:51 PM
You can now have that feeling that we can't go a day without us having more than one scam attempt being busted by forum members, that's good work, it's helpful, even though the scam attempts are pretty obvious for those who aren't greedy and boneheaded not to read.

I feel beginners and help is the perfect place for all this threads, no old time user would fall for send me X bitcoin, I'll give you Y in return, it's stupid, it's the newbies that are susceptible(vulnerable), it's them who can feel the rush of blood to grab some free bitcoins, not knowing there is nothing such as that, just a crazy scammer trying to exploit people.

Even if coinbase was to be a charity organization, they wouldn't just give away 500btc to customers.
5525  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Project to help Newbie on: November 10, 2019, 03:00:15 PM
I support this idea, and I'd also help out on this thread with a few merits if i am to read any of the submitted posts and it's really good.
In any case, I would like to give support to brand new members who have just registered in this forum and do not yet have the knowledge and experience about bitcoin...
I think you should provide some clarity though, when you say brand new accounts, do you mean the contest is strictly for just newbies alone or accounts that have just registered on the forum and haven't made any posts(brand new account)
So, please try to do some research about any topic connected with btc or crypto and write post on the forum, in the correct category
And if newbies whom have made posts but haven't earned any merits are included, would you accept a post they made before this thread or only posts made after.

Nice idea@Daniel91
5526  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Busting A Shady Telegram Channel on: November 10, 2019, 01:42:45 PM
It is scary to see that over 3800 people joined them...
I'm so sure more than half that number were added without their consent, this groups just go ahead and add tons of people to their telegram channel, when they have more members in the group, the chances of someone falling for it becomes higher and also most newbies believe groups with high members are legit, that's another benefit of doing this for this scammers.
Settings > Privacy and Security > Groups > Who can invite you > My Contacts.
But this simple trick shared by @rosezionjohn would permanently ensure that users do not get added to these scam telegram groups.
I submitted my ETH address and wrong email address and everything
It's a good thing you were smart enough to submit a wrong email address to them, this scammers also make use of this multiple emails they receive to try their scam through email messages.
I'll report them as well.
5527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin Interview: Discussing Updates, Exchange Listings, and Future Plans With on: November 10, 2019, 11:40:02 AM
Even if we would reach the mass adoption, what place would take Doge? I can understand that cryptos like ETH, EOS or NEO would be used for payments, other altcoins for other industries like real estate, travelling and so on, but in my opinion there is no place for Doge in the real world.
Dogecoin isn't going to be the next "big thing"(top coin/altcoin)in the cryptocurrency network, but that doesn't mean they should not try to grow and develop, at least for those who are already holders of the coin and those who use it for day trading.

There are people who use and hold Dogecoin, as well as enjoy whatever benefits(advantages) they gain from it, it would only be comforting for them, if the developers of the coin have plans for it, plans to get listed on better exchanges, plans that would reflect on the price of the coin. There are so many altcoins, and yes Dogecoin may not hold any admirable position among them, but if they are trying then it's a good sign.
5528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think bounty participate in this year 2019? on: November 10, 2019, 08:07:46 AM
For every bounty hunter need stop our promoting service?
Yeah you need to, at least until a year such as 2017 comes along again. Promoting/advertising shitcoins puts you in the losing corner, you need to adapt to the change, how can one keep up with this ico/ieo bullshit all year long with almost zero ROI for investors and no reward/rewards of no value for the bounty hunters.

There are wise sayings that advice one to find another way of doing something, when their present method fails and that is what ico investors and bounty hunters need to do. If they can all pay more attention to bitcoin, which they should, they are sure of profits definitely, mostly in the long run, it could also help the bitcoin network, more demand could just boost the price up. Finally it'll also force the ICO projects to put more work/thought into their product, if not they wouldn't get any investor, but right now they do not care since no matter how the project looks like, it'll be flooded by so many naive people.
5529  Other / Meta / Re: At what point does feedback spam warrant a ban / nuking? on: November 09, 2019, 11:16:28 PM
Sooner or later this clown is going to have to be dealt with.
Do you think GP would bother about that, I really do not think so, Infact he'll be enjoying the attention he is getting, this trolls love it when more threads are made about them, it helps them to stay relevant, I'll ask you to let it slide, ignore GP till theymos decides he has had enough, though theymos has such an elastic temper, so that may happen in a very long time.
5530  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let's stand against Bounty Scammer. on: November 09, 2019, 10:07:33 PM
Unless bounty managers stand, it's not possible. I think each campaign manager must have cooperation and prevent such project to launch bounty here.
By "stand" I suggest you mean work hand in glove to make sure they work for only bounties that keep the bounty payments with an escrow before the bounty begins. This is a brilliant idea, but there are some bountie(esp Btc bounties)that do not have any fixed beginning or ending, the company just starts the bounty and watches it's growth, I doubt if they will be able to escrow the payment, they would, I think give the bounty manager the rewards for every week just before it starts.

The campaigns that would need this the most are ico bounties, they are always having issues with rewards at the end of the campaign, this idea would be effective there, but most of those campaigns never choose reputable managers, thats why it may never work.
5531  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your post defines you on: November 09, 2019, 09:48:42 PM
Anyone can give red trust to anyone, and nothing can be done about that Wink
I don't believe this is 100% true, while any user can choose to leave a feedback on another, the one that truly counts are feedbacks left by those on the DT list and those on a users trust list, most users leave feedback in retaliation for the ones they receive, that's why theymos is very selective on who he makes a DT(must have a good reputation on the forum), because before a user is tagged or flagged a scammer, there must be real concrete evidences of wrongdoings.

OP needs to come and make it clear on this thread what he meant by "bounty advert" post, that would allow us get to a conclusion on what is right or not.

You should be punished for not spending merits.
Theymos is well aware of that, that's why he introduced merit sources. It's also added on the merit page, that it's useless to store your Smerits, according to theymos sometime In the future he could consider decaying Smerits of Smerits hoarders.
I often feel so band since I have no merits to give anyone and I see nice posts everyday..
We all feel or have felt that way sometimes, but you know you can apply to be a merit source, maybe theymos just might choose you.
I have even seen many times even long term users give merits to people who are admins and do not need them and to people who are already legendary. WTF even.
Even if such users may not need to rank up anymore, How else would users appraise their good posts, if not through merits, and if they do not earn merits, how are they to merit other quality posts, which you already complained is missing.
Introverted people are doomed. How is that a fair system?
It's a discussion forum, users should be extroverts in here!
5534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 08, 2019, 05:10:44 PM
In no way Pogba can join Real Madrid.
There are better players than him in the Real's squad right now and Pogba doesn't seem to be on the top of his form in order to play competitively. It is more possible to join Juve, but I think this is going to be a bad signing for Juventus.
This assessment is wrong imho, if you look at the two teams (Real Madrid and juventus)right now, and also taking into consideration the position Paul Pogba plays in, it's juventus that have better players suited in that role, Kroos, modric and casemiro is like all the midfielders Real have, but in juve there is pjanic, Emre Can, Rabiot, Matuidi, Ramsey and khedira who all can play CM and some of them can also play LW and this is Pogba's most preferred positions.

So I think talking about competition, it's stiffer in juve, Pogba would have to fight his way into the team, imo Madrid would be easier for him to break into, though I agree with you on the aspect of Pogba being in poor form, any team that breaks the bank to buy him, may end up regretting such action.
5535  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: CONTEST: Guess the price of Bitcoin at the end of 2019 and win $1,000 on: November 08, 2019, 03:43:07 PM
Looks like a bait to gain subscribers for free...
If the site is legit(i do not know if it is), there is nothing wrong in doing that, almost every website tries various means to add more subscribers to their network, it's normal.

I'm yet to fill in those requirements, but I will the moment I can confirm the legitimacy of this site, since we're required to give out our email addresses, I wouldn't want to start receiving unsolicited messages.
The prediction would be fun, though I think it's almost impossible for anyone to get the exact price, it's almost Christmas, would it take a bull, a bear turn or would it remain around the same price.Grin I'll be guessing a drop.
5536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where and how to check a bitcoin address is used for scam purposes? on: November 08, 2019, 01:37:51 PM
It looks like a nice site to me, and I think it'll be most effective for addresses that have a menacing long record of numerous scams or scam attempt, for example if the address you want to do business with has been reported up to a hundred times, then you'll be crazy if you still want to deal with the owner of that address.

But I'm a bit curious, how does this site verify if truly the addresses tagged are owned by scammers,  how do they filter the correct reports from the incorrect ones, you know this days people could do crazy things, like tagging someone's address as fraudulent when indeed the evidences aren't concrete. I think this could be a downside.
5537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: November 08, 2019, 10:04:14 AM
Manchester United is now more focused on the European league,
If I was Solskjaer, thats what I'd do, he deep down in his heart has to concede to the fact that Manchester United making it to the top four would almost be impossible, and that'll mean missing out on the Uefa champions league again, and that may culminate in him losing his job.

But I think he can buy himself a little more time, if he wins the Europa league, which will qualify them for Europe's top club competition next season, the board just may give him an extra season to see how united would perform then, at least with them back in the champions league.
5538  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] Fake Brave Bounty Program Giving 1,500 BAT Tokens to each participant! on: November 08, 2019, 08:45:11 AM
There used to be an unwritten rule in spreadsheets not to publick e-mail address of the participants. But now this information appears very often and spammers are actively using it.
Those ICO/IEO projects always claim that they would make sure the emails of their participants is kept private, but down the road now, we're too aware that plenty of them don't, they either use it to send scam attempt emails or they sell it to those who would, do we even talk of what they do with the KYC documents submitted to them.

If majority of them are scam, which they are, then why wouldn't they sell the emails or send such messages, it's another way of trying to scam people other than through their shit bounty projects. I have totally lost faith in ICO bounties.
5539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain - Cryptocurrency; Driving me mad. on: November 08, 2019, 07:37:34 AM
Seeing your subject, I had actually hoped to read a good OP and participate in the discussion, but I'm not disappointed as this pattern(your thread)is another method of advertisng for shit projects.
Lately,I have cultivated the habit of reading and researching. This is because I want to add value wherever I find myself around the blockchain -cryptocurency space. I have seen good projects doing well and the supposedly one wallowing in retrogression.
Now tell me what learning about the blockchain technology/cryprocurrency has to do with a project, you can learn, read and understand a whole lot about the blockchain technology and bitcoin without investing in any project or coin.
5540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Makes a Successful Crypto on: November 08, 2019, 07:14:56 AM
This is true, but unfortunately there are very few projects that actually accomplish all of these points. That's why we have so few good projects and teams that are willing to put a lot of effort into the success of their project.
Thats if there is any actually, I think the major problem is that this project team and managers do not want a project that would grow steadily and rise as time goes on, they simply want to make money for themselves(alone).
I think that's why they just don't pay attention to any of this three key points listed in the OP, or if they do, it's just superficial, so they can use that trick to draw in investors and make an exit scam.

We need committed projects, managers(team), that would want to improve on the blockchain technology with their coin, not just about making money at the beginning, they must understand that if their product actually brings something wonderful to the blockchain technology, then they as well as their promoters and investors would earn alot from it.
