Can you share more information about how much you're needing and what your proposal would be in regards to a silent investor?

Makes me wonder if I should sell my script (here) once I finish version 3 (supporting a system with any coins people feel like adding, and still tracking which faucets have been visited and their cooldowns)...

Didn't realize these sites had any value outside of having fun.

Actually I think for most companies where people are able to buy shares at any time there is a a time between the announcement and when new share holders are no longer eligible for the dividend.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dividend#Dividend_dates

this statement is flat out wrong.. I have been investing for more than a decade so I can speak with some degree of experience having received many dividends both in the US and AUS markets.

please re-read the wiki you posted.

if you buy shares AFTER a special dividend is announced then you are usually not illegible for that dividend. This is because the "Record Date" is typically the same date as the announcement (or within a few days, usually prior).  it is extremely rare for example for a company to announce a special dividend and then say "oh but the record date is in one months time".
Note that this kind of practices is done typically to stop people rushing to buy shares only to collect a dividend and then dumping immediately afterwards.

Sure you can be eligible for future dividend if they are announced at a later date but you are only guaranteed to get a dividend if you are a shareholder before each announcement.
I want to make it very clear that I am talking about Special dividends here (ie dividends which are declared after a particular event) rather than recurring/regular dividends that a company may choose to issue on a quarterly or yearly basis.

Since Karmashares LLC has no history of issuing regular dividends it is a given that any dividend announcement is likely to be a special dividend.. (i.e. a one off or series of one offs.)

as quoted by the wiki.

Quote
Declaration date is the day the Board of Directors announces its intention to pay a dividend. On this day, a liability is created and the company records that liability on its books; it now owes the money to the stockholders. On the declaration date, the Board will also announce a date of record and a payment date.

Ex-dividend date (typically 2 trading days before the record date for U.S. securities) is the day on which all shares bought and sold no longer come attached with the right to be paid the most recently declared dividend.

Record date Shareholders registered in the stockholders of record on or before the date of record will receive the dividend. Shareholders who are not registered as of this date will not receive the dividend. Registration in most countries is essentially automatic for shares purchased before the ex-dividend date.

In any case whether or not the record date is set after the announcement date for any dividend, as soon as the announcement is made the price or Karma will correct upwards to "price in" any dividend payment.

this will make it more expensive for people to "buy in" and profit from any payouts.

it will also make it harder for Karmashares LLC if people start dumping after a dividend because there is no way to exit karmashares other than to ask Kosmost for a refund.
which could turn out to be an administrative nightmare.

that's not to say that there isn't an administrative nightmare already brewing.... just saying that the best way to deal with the issue of any windfall is to keep most of the money for development and give regular but small dividends back to the karmashares holders.

just my opinion of course but I don't see how announcing a dividend and then allowing a grace period so that hoards of people can "buy in" with hopes of participating in the payout is going to help Karma or Karmashares LLC in the long run.

no doubt the volatility will help traders like me though.. so feel free to ignore everything I just said lolz.

Then what happens with people who have tens of millions of coins and still can't figure out how to get their payment information recorded (BTC address)? Now you're "a shareholder" but you're also not, being that your information still isn't on the record.

It's important things like this that we need to get locked down ASAP to ensure we're not being screwed over by a technicality that we have absolutely no control over.

hi,
i am willing to run a new free faucet to earn i need a man who can create a faucet for me .

so people who are interested pm me

pm with faucet name your cost (newbie & jr not allowed)

Faucet is not a profitable venture per say. If u want to invade into the saturated faucet world now, u need to be really creative. Lot of people have closed down their faucets after being forced to payout from their own pocket. Try your hands on other unexplored sections of Bitcoin for stable earning.

I run a proffitable faucet, that being said you re correct in the fact that the market is saturated, but its staring to thin about now as most are fly by nights triers who as you say end up losing BTC.

Anyway back to the OP try starting with microwallets faucet its very easy to set up and has a great admin panel now they have updated it.

You can grab the latest version from here: http://www.freebitcoinfaucet.org/upgrade

If you need hosting for it, give me a PM I can help with that as I have a few dedicated servers.

FWIW, even rotators like mine cost more to run than they earn (and that's without giving away BTC). I do it for the community, though; not to get rich.
5546  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin-trader.biz on: August 26, 2014, 09:34:57 PM
I'd also like to reach out and say that an audit would only prove the business and funds they have. It does nothing in the case that they get so much money they decide to run. A business that is making $100k a month in profit may still take off when they get $100m in deposits. That's enough to account for 1000 months, or 80+ years of pure profit and not have to do the work.

So the push for audits is irrelevant I think.
5547  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Purse.io - Bitcoin Amazon Marketplace - Save ~10-25% on Amazon Wishlist on: August 25, 2014, 01:32:47 AM
I'm wondering what happens if there's an order sent to your house (not a gift card) and it turns out to be fraudulently purchased as well.

I'm no expert but I can almost guarantee you they're not gonna come to your house and take the item back. They won't come after you legally either, unless there's evidence that you are the same person that bought the item fraudulently. Most likely they'd just ban the purchasing account and make some minor efforts to get their money back. Probably depends on the size of the purchase too.

Possibly not with a single item. I'm thinking more along the lines of if you were trading in multiple BTC and ran into cases where people were doing this more widespread (or a single person with multiple accounts). Essentially you'd the the one all the stolen funds are being tracked to. One purchase they may seem as being a coincidence. 5 would raise a lot of suspicions.
5548  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Purse.io - Bitcoin Amazon Marketplace - Save ~10-25% on Amazon Wishlist on: August 24, 2014, 09:16:52 PM
WARNING: AVOID AMAZON GIFT CARDS on PURSE.IO

If the "BUYER" uses fraudulant means to pay for your gift card, and Amazon processes the claim, they can and will cancel your gift card WELL after you've released escrow. They will remove the credit from your account, and if you have no gift-card balance, they will charge your credit-card on file. At this time (August 2014) Purse.io has no protection against this type of event, and no remedy in place to return your coin.

Hello from Amazon.com.
The gift certificate you recently attempted to redeem is invalid. Please understand that we cannot reissue it or reimburse you for these funds. Any associated orders have been cancelled.
We suggest that you contact the party who sold you the gift certificate to inquire further about their policies for dispute resolution.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you again at Amazon.com.
Sincerely,
Account Specialist

I'm a long-time purse.io user, love them, have had only good interactions on their site, till now. I notified purse.io, hoping they'd at least investigate, find the user, remove any coin from their account, let me know they'd banned them, etc.. But their response? Sounds like a great big bag of "not our problem"...

Because amazon both sold and issued gift codes, they have full control over it. We recommend buying non gift card items.

Kent Liu from Purse    22 Aug 2014

I will continue to use purse.io (just used them again this morning, in fact) but this is a problem that users need to be aware of, and that purse.io needs to find a way to address. Until they do, they should ban all gift cards, they're too easy to exploit.

It really sucks that there are so many scammers out there. I can't even understand the mentality that makes people think stealing is a cool thing to do.

I'm wondering what happens if there's an order sent to your house (not a gift card) and it turns out to be fraudulently purchased as well.

wudafux is all this talk about being "negative SEO'd?" If this is truly happening to some of you SEO "professionals," you're doing things *wrong* and need to learn proper SEO techniques. There are so many ways to get around the effects it's ridiculous. And it's not this super-difficult "it's going to cost thousands!" job most of you are trying to insinuate it is.

is bitcoin-trader.biz reachable for you guys? I only get a blank page =/
If it is reachable for you, what could be the problem here ?

I have the same problem. I registered to bitcointalk just to ask about it. Only the login and registration pages are missing, the rest of the pages are still there. No earnings report either. Is this the end?

Earnings report was last made 12 hours ago saying 0.91% for the day.

Primedice seems to have been reverse seo'd a while ago by rival sites so it has not ranked for bitcoin gambling/bitcoin dice for the past year

I'm interested in getting someone to white hat SEO the site up to it's rightful position asap as someone is working on getting their PD3 phishing site ranked up.

Payment is negotiable and will be based on results and pre-determined depending on what search ranking you get us for the keywords we discuss. If you can't get us ranked on the front page of specific keywords then no payment will be made.

Please post here if interested and note your credentials and I'll reach out via PM.
For starters how will you know if you ranked by me or another person
I'll personally provide a report for all SEO work made, and would like to be paid according to this. Keep in mind SEO can take days or weeks to begin working for your site as crawlers are not real time or instantaneous.

If you can send me a list of what you want to be ranked for I'll be happy. To work on this, for a fair price that is pre-stated PER KEYWORD. I do not want to work and end up getting paid a few bucks for it after hard work

Sent PM with recent work and other details.

Crawl speed can be fast -- but it's not the crawl speed that slows it down.

If I end up coming up with enough time I may play a game and race whoever does this SEO job to the top with a spam site just for the lulz. If I do it, I'll probably forward the domain to PD after because the goal won't be to be a dick; rather to prove a point.

What version do we need in order to stake? I'm on 1.3.0 and don't see the icon or any notices about minting... and it looks like (based on the first post here) that I'm on the latest version.

v0.1.3.0 Should work perfectly fine, coins take 30 days to mature before being eligible for PoS mining Smiley

Shouldn't there be an icon that shows the minting status though? My client doesn't show this so I'm not sure how to tell if it's even trying to mint...
5557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: August 19, 2014, 08:15:02 AM
Possible ideas:
- Hosting
- Namecoin domains
- Computer hardware
- Raffles for DVC-related prizes (like the toy)

and many more!

The issue with most of these is that they involve costs, so it just results in coins being dumped in order to continue business. For example, if I am selling an item for $50 that I get for $40, I have to get that $40 from somewhere or I can't continue on. So I end up liquidating coins as they come in so I can continue to pay out coins.

I've debated getting a server or two up and offering web hosting for cryptos, but I'm really not even sure how to run my own server (I'm still a newbie to VPS even) for others, and even moreso how I would fix issues that arise.

So how's the rma'd Neptune coming along?
And any word on the compensation?
The RMA'ed Neptune was replaced with a different unit. The unit has a few cores that are not functioning properly, but because the total hashing power is at least 3 THS, KnC will do nothing.

KnC is not willing to offer any compensation of any kind for the downtime, but if you are asking about the second Neptune, it will not be shipped until the end of Batch 3 and Batch 2 (when I checked yesterday,) hasn't started shipping yet.

Are there funds set aside for other units right now? If so, are there plans to make any purchases anytime in the short term?
5559  Economy / Securities / Re: [Official Thread] - The SolarWind Mining Company on: August 18, 2014, 06:42:23 PM
Thanks davideak, ranlo... you guys are the best!

NP! I am still a bit confused as to why our earnings are showing up differently than the Neptune earnings. Here's my previous post (row # and stats may be different now -- this was over a week ago):

-----
My row shows these stats (Row 12):

Payment After Deductions: 0.00316318
Remainder: 0.000000007204298
Total Payments: -
Neptune Earnings: 0.009924167393713

These don't appear to match up properly, being that it shows total earnings as being almost 0.01 BTC but the amount paid out to be caught up at less than 1/3 of that.

Also, is there any way to set a minimum threshold for payments so we don't get a lot of micro-transactions?

Sorry ranlo, I've been really busy lately, but I think this will answer your questions...

If you look on the first page the KnCMiner Neptune Spreadsheet on row 4 (Order # 0) you'll notice that column D states "SWMC Investor Pool," that is the 300 GHS that was reserved for previous investors. Being in the investor class, your earnings are part of the SWMC Investor Pool portion of BTC mined with the Neptune, and as such, the Electrical/Maintenance/Transaction Fees have already been deducted on the first page.

The second page "Investor Sheet" is a breakdown of how the BTC earnings are divided amongst all previous investors. Your "Payment After Deductions" is your share of the Neptune's BTC earnings that was paid during the last payment, except that I did not have your payment address at the time of the last payment so the payment was not sent. The reason the "Last Payment Sent" column states "Paid - MINERPAY, SWMCHEX" is a reminder that you have been paid your MINERPAY and SWMCHEX, but the last BTC payment is still owed to you. The amount will be sent with the next payment.

The "Remainder" is the amount of BTC you are due but can not be sent because the Bitcoin client does not send amounts below 8 decimals in size. This amount will accumulate until the total remainder amounts add-up to an amount above 8 decimals, then that amount (minus any further remaining amount below 8 decimals) will be included into the next payment.

The "Neptune Earnings" is the total BTC that your share has earned to-date.

As for a minimum payment threshold. The way Counterparty works when sending a distributed payment is that the payment is automatically split-up between the total assets and proportionally sent to each address that holds the asset. So no, there is no way to set a payment threshold for individual address' when using Counterparty.

The first payment was more of a token payment to indicate that I was making good on my promises. The amounts sent were smaller than will be typical because mining had only been operational for a few days. The rest of the payments should be larger, but will gradually decrease over time as the difficulty level increases and earnings decrease. I may extend the length of time between payments to minimize the cost percentage for the transaction fees when the earnings decline to a certain level.

Does that clear it up for you? If not, just let me know what is not clear and I will explain...

That completely cleared it up for me. Thank you for that!

I look forward to seeing how things work out, Smiley.

And for those that are still reading this and aren't sure whether or not you should trust SWMC, I've been dealing with the owner for quite some time now and he's always been up-front about things and followed through on everything he said he would. There have been some times where he's been a bit harder to get a hold of, but he's always followed through with getting back to me.
