Thanks for the info, but don't you think it is time you really take some of those donations and upgrade this forum software? There are quite a few new styles out there that are really nice. This pretty much static version has been around and looked the same since it was installed. And last year when there was a thread about how you had so much bitcoin worth millions of dollars I think it was, you wanted other user's to hold on to it in case some of it was lost. Why can't you take some of those donations, build a brand new dedicated box, hire one of the best programmers you can find and get this forum software out of the dark ages?

It's almost complete and is being tested now. There's a subforum for the discussion of it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0

uhh already received spam also + many unsuccessful attempts to mail login:(

anyway, thanks for bring the forum up.

What spam did you get? Has anyone else had attempts to compromise their email?
5543  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk database dump on: May 25, 2015, 02:31:14 PM
I'm sure one could very likely happen though there will be a lot of scammers just trying to capitalise on it too.
5544  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: May 21, 2015, 03:37:18 PM
How many do you need? There's two above and I'm sure there's a few more. It's still vital info to have especially considering the mess over in the altcoin Marketplace.
5545  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: May 21, 2015, 03:28:38 PM
See above. If it's an alt coin it doesn't belong here. Is there not an alt coin overview thread anywere?
5546  Other / Meta / Re: New Donation system on: May 21, 2015, 02:32:10 PM
I still don't think that would be fair to the other Donators. I'm not adverse to new lower donator ranks being added but like you say the forum doesn't need any more money so it wont be a priority.
5547  Other / Meta / Re: New Donation system on: May 21, 2015, 02:29:31 PM
Most people here on the forum cant afford to send the forum 10 BTC but we still want to help the forum out, how about this, each user has an address which they send tips to every now and again (when they have BTC to spare) and when their total tipped reaches 10 BTC, their account gains donator status, this is great for those of us who don"t have alot of BTC lying around.

You can donate as much or as little as you wish here: https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html

Doubt anybody will ever get anywhere near 10btc in smaller donations nor would anyone likely want to.
5548  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cost of Bitcointalk Accounts. on: May 21, 2015, 02:27:59 PM
u should be careful when buying bitcointalk accounts as some have been banned several times. don't be surprised if u buy an account and get a 2month ban a few weeks later.

So how to identify the account was being banned before or not? Because when we deal the price with the seller they sure didnt want to give any description about being banned or not so its impossible to be careful too since we dont know anything about which id is he going to sell

You can't. Best you can do is use an escrow who will check the quality of posts thoroughly and if they're found to be poor or from a known banned account the deal will be terminated.
5549  Other / Meta / Re: Scam accusation deleted; user banned; why? on: May 21, 2015, 01:42:22 PM
Can't be that much of a buddy since he removed QS from his trust list the other day.
5550  Other / Meta / Re: Minor trust score algorithm change on: May 21, 2015, 09:19:08 AM
Since the change:

 dogie from +63 to -481
 quickseller -20 to -90
 VOD -100 to -2011
 Techshare +100 to ? ? ?
 Bicknellski +63 to +75

I'll see how I can make you positive since I trust you and VOD.

I don't think it we be possible to trust both Tecshare and Vod's ratings simultaneously with them both showing up as trusted because vod has left negative on Tecshare.

This doesn't seem right to me, that seems too easy for users to lose their score. You can see above theymos has lots of positive from people in my trust network, but the single negative made him lose his green score.

Yeah I think something has to change. I see Tecshare at ? ??: -1 / +8 and he shouldn't lose all his green trust just because of one neg.

Please remove previous bumps when you make new ones. Thanks.
5552  Other / Meta / Re: [It Wasn't] Hacking Attempt on: May 20, 2015, 09:28:38 PM
What's even more interesting here is what changes theymos might be making to the trust system.   Here he says that the trust system algorithm isn't very good. I wonder what changes he might be making!

He's already made them. See redsnow's post above https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1066849.msg11432858#msg11432858
5553  Other / Meta / Re: Minor trust score algorithm change on: May 20, 2015, 08:25:13 PM
I agree that the numbers should be scaled back...I kicked it on default trust only and it seems like everyone has huge scores now. Maybe a scale of -100 - +100 would be better. It seems like being trusted will be easier, and that is not a good thing around here.

Yeah, they're way too high in my opinion. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=343102 That guy only has one feedback from me I left over a year ago and he was 1: -0 / +1 the other day and now he's 10: -0 / +1. What are the question marks all about like here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=320943 ? ??: 1 / +2?
5554  Other / Meta / Re: [It Wasn't] Hacking Attempt on: May 20, 2015, 08:20:12 PM
I got the hacking attempt message when I tried to post in the DaDice thread.

There was actually a message that said hacking attempt or is that just what you guys are calling it?

There is no screenshot?  Huh.
there was an alert message for few minutes like 1-2 minutes with warning hacking attempts

check first post of this thread, screenshot is there

Imgur links aren't showing up for me for some reason. There's nothing there unless I quote it. I was trying to get imgur to load a few hours ago but nothing as well.

5557  Other / Meta / Re: Minor trust score algorithm change on: May 20, 2015, 08:00:36 PM
The scores seem like too much of a drastic jump in my opinion and will make users seem more trusted than they really are or should be. Mine went from 4: -0 / +0 to 22: -0 / +3.
5558  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: May 20, 2015, 07:57:54 PM
I think theymos has mentioned new ranks may be added in the future (both donation and regular ranks) but I don't think they're needed yet or are a priority. Maybe a lesser donator rank like 'contributer' could be added for donations of 1btc or to keep it fair peg it to $100 worth of btc or something. Can't see many people even donating that though to be honest.
5559  Other / Meta / Re: Leave the trust system as is but remove trust scores on: May 19, 2015, 06:14:24 PM
So no more red warnings. What do you guys think? good idea/bad idea?

Warnings are to prevent something bad happening, so hiding then isn't conducive to that.

will people take the time to manually review trust before trading?

Those that need protecting the most won't, which is the problem.

Exactly. Most people wont check. Look how many people got scammed by newbs over in the auction sub with the ad slots. The trust system works well as a warning system 99% of the time, but of course there are always issues and abuses but they should be dealt with when they arise. Scams would definitely go up if we got rid of the red warning.
5560  Other / Meta / Re: delete Investor-based games section on: May 19, 2015, 05:10:29 PM
The problem is not the section, is allowing these kind of trash on the forum at all, just fucking ban every thread that promotes a ponzi, easy as that, no need for a section for it, but probably mods are going to come and say "its too hard to moderate all ponzies" or "we dont have time to delete all ponzies" wich is bullshit, i doubt it takes that much time to totally delete each of those ponzi threads

There are cloud mining providers which are actually ponzi but they claim they ain't. If we start moderating ponzis, we will see more of these and it will be hard to differentiate scam and legitimate. Now, at least we know those are ponzis. What will happen if those come under new names and in different boards?

This is exactly it. It's not really about being difficult to moderate or mods not having the time etc but if we ban them then they will just come back and hide under the cover of being legitimate operations, thus duping more people into investing not knowing what they truly are. If you don't like ponzis just don't go in that section, but it's there for people who want to gamble/invest/throw their money away on them.
