5541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Eth 2.0 can be delayed to 2024... on: June 27, 2022, 07:55:48 PM
ETH 2.0 has been delayed so long now, I don't think the new entrants to the space realize that empty promises over it's launch have been an ongoing joke for several years now.

I am fascinated by such a large move taking place.  There's a good chance it will be a massive failure, as many in this thread have speculated.  There's also a chance it will be a huge success and major players in traditional finance take a huge stake in it's future.

I am more curious about what happens if it is a failure personally.  I wonder if it would cause a profitable to mine coin like Ravencoin to shoot up in value, or what would happen to the Polygon network.

It does make me happy that some excitement is coming back to crypto.  It's super cringeworthy how all the news lately is about which big players got greedy and tried to overleverage their way to billions.

All of the NastyFans 1g rounds and plastic airtites have been sold.  I kept a couple for my personal collection (as always) but am unlikely to sell them.

There are still a couple dozen NastyPool 1g silver rounds left.  Contact me if you're interested in grabbing a few before they're gone.  I may even be willing to trade for something cool if you have something you want to offer.  Feel free to drop me a line and go from there.  Smiley
5543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Sandbox being acquired by Facebook (Meta)? on: June 27, 2022, 07:45:22 PM
I thought this isn't a rumor anymore since Sandbox has claimed that they will maintain a decentralized and open ecosystem[1] for people to thrive in. Plus, Borget says that they will defend their metaverse from Tech Giants including Facebook now Meta[2].

[1] https://twitter.com/ysiu/status/1483456171847700492?t=iM1ZKVzLrIfpBbU7FUr-SA&s=19
[2] https://amp.scmp.com/tech/big-tech/article/3159562/sandbox-founder-says-open-blockchain-based-metaverse-threatened

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not to sell to Facebook.  It would certainly go a long way towards bringing new users into the Polygon ecosystem and would probably pump SAND's price quite a bit, but might push out some of the anti-facebook crowd away.  I think the pros would outweigh the cons, but it would as you say put one more cool internet property under big tech's control.  Remember a decade ago before the metaverse when video game streaming was going to be the next big thing?  Then Amazon scooped up Twitch, got Microsoft to kill Mixer, and now game streaming is centralized leading to a few big name streamers with huge contracts or half naked girls.  I'd hate to see the metaverse momentum killed in the same way, but I do think it would be good for the industry in this case, because a new metaverse can pop up anytime if the Sandbox goes to hell.  Just look at what yuga labs is doing.  They're trying to surpass 10 years of Sandbox development in 6 months with their Otherside metaverse...
5544  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do we spot the crypto bottom? on: June 27, 2022, 07:34:36 PM
I've always found it pretty easy to spot the bottom in the past.  There's usually an unmistakable moment where capitulation is obvious and clear.  This cycle was a little different because the nature of the crash wasn't retail panic, and instead was orchestrated by big players squeezing out overleveraged entities.  So we had a capitulation moment, but it was sloppier than what we've typically seen in the past.  While I would have preferred a massive volume spike and huge drop instead of the slow bouncing around for a couple days, it does seem like FTX has stepped in to be the lender of last resort and put a bottom on the market to limit further selling.  While the ultimate bottom may be lower than what we saw recently, the downside vs upside has me thinking that now isn't a bad time to be buying and even if we fall from here, you're looking at a possible 50% loss in a near worst case scenario, while the best case scenario which has been playing out for years has upside closer to x10.  Worth it in my opinion.
5545  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 27, 2022, 07:30:38 PM
" Kyrie Irving has requested and received permission from the Nets to find sign-and-trade offers from other teams. Kevin Durant still hasn't spoken to Nets front office. Russell Westbrook to Brooklyn remains unlikely."

Looks like Kyrie Irving is leaving the Nets for sure, provided some team requires his service. Which I'm sure a lot of teams would be interested in.

From what I'm reading, the only team that's shown any interest at all is the Lakers.  I think they like the narrative of LeBron and Kyrie teaming up again and they see this as a possible opportunity to dump Westbrook.  No way is a Westbrook for Kyrie trade happening though.  Maybe if Anthony Davis and Ben Simmons trade places also...  You never know with the Lakers.  They seem to like making crazy roster moves the last several years.  Picking up both Kyrie and Ben Simmons at one though...  That will a locker room filled with more drama than anyone has ever seen.  Which I guess makes Los Angeles the perfect spot for it.
5546  Other / Off-topic / Re: The eyes and the screen. on: June 27, 2022, 03:12:29 PM
I personally wear glasses, reduce my gadgets brightness and activate the Bluefilter/Nightmood starting from 7pm.

Activating the blue light filter on your gadgets after a certain time of day is something that everyone should do. I also wear blue light blocking glasses if I know I’m going to be working on the computer for a long time at night. It makes a noticeable difference with how your eyes feel. I think those two things have to help, but of course the best solution would be to make sure you’re looking at some real life light from time to time.
5547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / The Sandbox being acquired by Facebook (Meta)? on: June 26, 2022, 08:03:04 PM
It seems that rumors which began in March of this year are really heating up now.  There are lots of people on social media discussing a supposedly pending buyout offer of the Sandbox by Facebook (now Meta) for the price of 4 billion dollars.  I'm not sure how that would effect their SAND currency, or if the rumors are based in reality, but the total SAND market cap right now sits at around 1.5 billion dollars.  While I don't expect this offer to directly translate to a 4 billion dollar market cap for SAND, the popularity of Facebook/Meta would certainly have a positive effect on the development and value of things connected to the Sandbox.

Anyone have any more details on these rumors or incite on what will happen to SAND as a result of a deal (if true) with Facebook/Meta?
5548  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA Bans the right to abortion on: June 26, 2022, 07:53:10 PM
The woman has the right to choose whether to become a mother or not, especially since the decision to become pregnant was not and cannot be unilateral as long as the presence of a male is obligatory for the operation to take place.

Making a counter-argument for the sake of discussion...  The man has to make this decision prior to having sex.  I would think that a feminist or anyone pushing equal rights would hold women to this same standard, right?  The man has to decide before having sex if he wants to risk becoming a father for this action.  Why should women get the right to decide later on, but men do not?  Does a man have less rights than a woman when it comes to deciding if they want to be a parent?  Making matters worse, the child support system heavily leans to the mother, who can force the father out of their child's life while making them pay to support them for 18 years.  Seems anti-feminist and anti-equal rights to me.

Those who argue that women who have been raped and did not decide to carry a child will be effected by this...  Maybe you should re-read the laws and consider living somewhere that you want to live.
5549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The only two coins with low mining difficulty on: June 26, 2022, 07:19:51 PM
I also wouldn’t hold a coin like this long term. We are in a bear market and many alts are already 90% loss and will probably keep going down. They aren’t a good hold at all.
That is not correct. The price in ETH/BTC of ERG, FLUX and CFX has either been stable compared to 30d ago or increased. In other words, ETH and BTC have fallen in value relative to these small coins. So it was a better idea to own them than ETH or even BTC.

30 days is nothing.  It doesn't take much to pump these shitcoins up since there is basically no liquidity.  Long term though I doubt they'll see any sort of gain.  This is because nobody is using them for anything that I'm aware of.  If the only reason you're buying or mining a coin is because you think some idiot will come along later and pay you way more for it, you're gambling your finances on the greater fool theory.  That works great until you can't find a greater fool, then you're left holding a worthless bag which is bad, but missing out on investing in something useable or stacking sats to chase gains with the greater fool theory is a horrible way to miss out on your chance at growing your portfolio's value.  You're here.  So you're early to crypto.  Don't squander that early advantage chasing get rich quick promises to fools.
5550  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Eclipse Poster 2011 Casascius "Error" Dual Panel -- Available -- on: June 26, 2022, 07:11:50 PM
All eleven sets have been prepared for dispersal, may they find a good home where they will be well cared for and guarded like treasure.

I went and picked mine up from the post office yesterday.  I haven't opened it yet because I'm still trying to find the right frame and don't want these loose in my house while I do so.  I'm excited though.  They seem to be well packaged in a strong shipping tube.  I'm tempted to get matching frames with my other Bitcoin posters and display them side by side because I'm struggling to find a spot that will display them in all their glory otherwise, but I'm debating...  Thanks for doing this Eclipse33.  Glad to have some Casascius pr0n in my house to display.
5551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 26, 2022, 07:04:39 PM
There's something about Kyrie that is hard to explain. He may want to be like Lebron. A leader.

He wants to be a leader, but he's just not cut out for it.  His wild antics are locker room destroyers.  Even KD who changed his career path to play with Kyrie now feels let down and is looking for a way out.  In today's rumors, the Lakers apparently are trying to work a deal to trade Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook for Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving.  I don't think the Nets would do this, but maybe...  Simmons and Kyrie are headaches while Anthony Davis is considered to be a top tier player with a lot of time left in his career.  With Russell's contract being a negative and Anthony Davis looking to end up in Chicago eventually, I think the Nets would be dumb to do this trade.  LeBron is a fan of Ben Simmons and has won a championship with Kyrie though, so it's a possibility...  With how wacky Simmons and Kyrie are, anything could happen.
5552  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTB 10 BTC Casascius on: June 26, 2022, 05:08:25 PM
I could probably persuade one of my family to let one go for 14-16. The problem is even though at least two of them are in phenomenally good condition, they're ungraded and I understand that most people wouldn't go for that. In the UK, where they're located, there's no grading service for crypto and for the US we have the transportation problem so we're kinda stuck for now.

I saw another thread talking about PCGS. PCGS Paris have said if we get them to them, they would do the export / re-import to get them graded with their US counterparts. However, they say 3-4 months turnaround!

I wouldn't recommend my family let them go at anything less than that unless they really need to but again, if there's a real need to, then there isn't the luxury of having months and months (actually, in my case, coming up to two years) to find a means of grading / transport / secure exchange so I completely understand why someone would peel one - especially in a bear market if getting some fiat in is the priority because you could easily lose more than whatever premium-over-face one could get if the market went against you in the interim. And, in addition, you get to keep the beautiful coin!

It does seem bonkers though that we're in a world where some people would really like these and others would really like to sell these but right now there appears to be no way of breaking through the deadlock!

Ideas anyone?  Grin

I don’t think the problem is transporting the coin so much. If someone is willing to pay 16 BTC up front, I’ll hand deliver the coin myself with a smile and throw in a free beer.

I think the problem is mostly that buyers want to pay 10.5 BTC for these coins and sellers have 0 interest at that price. The other problem is that most of the inquiries I get on the high value coins end up being lame scam attempts. If someone was serious and willing to pay the price, the rest of the issues are easily solvable.

The rumors of a Kevin Durant trade to Portland just heated up quite a bit as Dame posted a picture of KD and him in Trailblazers jerseys to his Instagram. Probably just wishful thinking on Dame’s part, but interesting that he’s fueling the fire of these rumors. I can understand why though. Dame has never played with anyone near Durant’s talent and Portland has been trying hard to get him some help. I thought this was nonsense, but maybe there’s some reality to these rumors.
5554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most of us have lived a world of USD dominance, but history changes on: June 25, 2022, 09:38:54 PM
I’ve been talking about the US losing reserve currency stats for 20 years now. I’ll admit though, it finally feels like the time is upon us. I’m sure Americans are in for a severe shock as our way of life is massively altered. I don’t think people grasp just how much of an advantage we’ve had as a result of the dollar’s status. When you think about how hard inflation is hitting people now, losing reserve currency status could send America into a depression.
5555  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Watford Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: June 25, 2022, 09:33:32 PM
While you're on 90%, your mind will tell. Go grinding that shit, you will get bonus money from the rank up. Then, you losing more money than the bonus rank up you're get ~XD. I still can't believe.

I cant deny that, I felt the same when I was on 80-90% to the next level. There was a whisper in my ears that suggest me to start wager more to reach the next level. Luckily I was not tempted as I did a calculation first to make sure that I wont lose more than the possible leveling up reward. I started to push myself to wager more when it was around 5% remaining to rank up.
The trick is win, wagering for next Vip level shouldn't be a goal. When you are close like 2% it makes sense doing 1.01x dice bets for wager but realizing you lost more than bonus during process hurts. Sad but true lol

I’ve never been one to hunt for rewards based on wagered amounts. I often see people talk about these rewards like they are the reason they gamble. I wonder if it’s worth it, as I can’t imagine gambling those amounts could be done in a way where the winning or losing wouldn’t far outweigh the rewards. That being said, I’m sure for those who gamble quite a bit for whatever reason anyway really appreciate the rewards for their effort.
5556  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA Bans the right to abortion on: June 25, 2022, 09:30:11 PM
Your post is false and misleading, at best. More realistically, it is propaganda.

The SCOTUS correctly read the constitution and found that the constitution does not give the right for people to get abortions. States now can use their police powers to regulate and restrict abortions in accordance with their own state constitutions for making laws.

For the majority of abortions, nothing will change.

I was thinking the same thing. USA didn’t ban abortions at all. People are acting like it’s the end of the world for states to be able to make this decision instead of it being a federal issue. I think it’s a win in my book anytime the federal government steps back and allows states to do their own governing. I think they should take this approach to many other issues as well. The less federal government the better for basically everything except the military.
5557  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin (BTC) Crash To $13K After The Fed Rate Hike? on: June 24, 2022, 09:48:33 PM
Bitcoin's price can do anything.  That includes a crash to $13K after the fed rate hike, or a crash to $0 tomorrow morning for some random black swan event.  It could also go to $500,000 in the next hour.  The trick is to be prepared for any of these events and be able to handle if things go the complete opposite way of your expectations.  As long as you aren't playing with leverage and you're a long term thinker, it shouldn't matter if you buy BTC here and it does go to $13K.  Just because someone offers you a price for something you have, doesn't mean you have to take it.  Wait for better offers to come along and enjoy holding the asset you wanted.  Smiley
5558  Other / Meta / Re: Spamming way of creating threads on: June 24, 2022, 09:37:27 PM
Hi meta

I discovered this user HumanityWhole that seems to be rather more frequent on the Politics and Society board. Apparently this user seems to own a blog site which I don't want to reference to avoid promotion of the site as I think that's part of his or her intent for chosen post pattern but, the user tends to create more topic than necessary.

You could make the same argument about LoyceV in the Meta section and pushing his statistics site on users here.  One might think there doesn't need to be a different topic for every single statistic listed on the site, but who really cares if people want to merit hunt by making lots of threads.  If people want to spam threads I don't think there's any rules against it.  At some point if it bothers people they will just hit the ignore button.  I only wish this site had better block options, where when you blocked someone they aren't able to see your posts and vice versa, instead of them just being ignored and greyed out.
5559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 24, 2022, 08:43:16 PM
Woj talking like Kyrie is going to take a $30,000,000 pay cut and sign with the Lakers under the mid level exception $6,000,000 contract. That seems incredibly unlikely to me, but Kyrie did give up $17,000,000 in earnings last year because he didn’t want to take the vaccine. LeBron might also help him secure a bigger bag with Nike if he did take the pay cut. That would more than make up the difference in money. Still seems unlikely to me though. I can only imagine what type of deals that would make possible in the future.
5560  Economy / Speculation / Re: “When” Will Bitcoin Price Break $69k All Time High? on: June 24, 2022, 07:00:42 PM
March of 2025 seems about a good a guess as any.  Smiley

I am not in the camp that we'll see new highs before new lows.  I don't believe the government is going to orchestrate a soft landing, nor do I think Bitcoin is a recession proof asset.  I think a good prediction would be a low of $13K and a long period of accumulation before a runup to new highs following the next block reward halving.  Typically it takes over a year for that halving to take hold in the market, so I think that's a good estimate of when we'll be breaking back into new high territory.
