Looks like I need to keep bitcoind or armory running all the times to keep up with the blocks for the blockchain to be able to have any kind of timely use of my wallet. Is this sound correct?
...
Yes, exactly. This is called "running a full node" and it is necessary if you want the benefits of using Armory, also you are helping the network.

I think what yefi is trying to say is that before Swedish Mail has the time to deliver your card, one more SIM card has been made by someone else with their, say, laser printer (I'm faking the details here).
For all I know, it's entirely possible.
You mean like cloning? The effect is similar, but it's different. What they do is make a new SIM while forcing a fake operator transfer on you. I don't know how, that's why I faked the details. Meh, I'm skeptical, how would they get my number on that new sim? The operators don't move numbers online/air over here. https://www.amazon.com/card-reader-writer-cloner-backup/dp/B0194L4R86all they need is your phone# IMEI# serial#

Text message 2fa is not true 2fa for the very reason hackers can port your phone number. google authenticater or authy is true 2fa in that no phone number involved.
Is there any way to stop Authy from keeping a copy of my secret keys? is that the problem with Authy? Doug alludes to a problem in one of his vids, but doesn't go into details. I am uncomfortable with Google (Alphabet) having my data.

Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that the Chinese put all kinds of trackers on their phones, primarily to keep tabs on their own people, but of course also spilling over to us roundeyes when we purchase a phone from them.
I just don't think those trackers have any consequences for me when I sweep my keys. That's why I asked for examples, If I'm proved wrong I would have to reexamine my position.
OK, If I overstated your position I apologize for that, and yes, I was unnecessarily dickish in the post that lit all this off, sorry. If you are only using a phone to sweep a few bucks worth of forks out of addresses ALREADY EMPTIED of BTC (and actually I would say BCH depending on the balance) I guess the convenience may be worth the risk. As far as examples, absence of proof is not proof of absence, phones get hacked all the time. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/21/business/dealbook/phone-hack-bitcoin-virtual-currency.html

as in"he doesn't know he is signing when he makes a transaction".
which is precisely how I interpreted that interaction Look Arrie, I don't want to be in a pissing match here, but you have repeatedly made light of keeping BTC on smartphones and I am sorry, but that is not good practice. Phones are, by their very nature, insecure, and making posts on a venue such as this suggesting that exposing private keys on a phone is safe borders on being irresponsible.

Don't be an asshole.
Don't mock people's security concerns and we have a deal. So I have to stop airing my opinion for you to stop lying about me. Is that a correct understanding of your proposal? I would formulate it as refrain from opining on matters you admit you don't understand and I will not be forced to confront you on it

So in other news, it appears that the moneybadger coalition successfully defended the 9-4RP2 keepstar from the goonswarm/imperium last night in the largest online battle that has yet occurred. I have not seen a summary of the killboard, but over $1M (real money) worth of virtual equipment was at play in this engagement.
I played eve online far too long. it's more an economy simulalor then space game. Such big battles were pretty boring. it often took hours of waiting before the shooting starts and once it starts, the servers can't keep up with the load and the lag makes playing very annoying. I loved hanging around in a space station in jita, doing some trades in the biggest market of the game. Trading was my main source of income. Before I left the game many years ago I bought all Thulium I could find for a very low price. Thulium is the rarest moon material but it was useless during this time. Later the developers of the game made an update, the production for some high tech products required thulium, the demand raised and the prices of Thulium mooned. I think this game taught me alot about trading. I'm still hodling Thulium ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Great story re the Thulium. I guess the battle turned out to be a bit of a bust. They had over 6000 players in system and the time dilation got so bad that the goon FC couldn't implement his/her plan effectively so the trophy capitals were never committed. In the end they only managed to burn up a few grand in equipment. I myself am extremely thankful that in my life I have managed to avoid heroin, amphetamines, AND EVE Online. Anyway, to keep us on topic, go moneybadgers!
