Don't know if you guys frequent the "Mining" section but its brutal there.

Basically Bitmain pulling another Bitmain and over-supplying the market with an ASIC for SIA. Noobs ordering a bunch of units expecting $500/day and while UPS is dropping off these ASICs the difficulty triples in about a day.
https://siamining.com/stats

Also people going CRAZY over GPUs. People basically paying $1500 for GPUs and Computer Stores either Out of Stock on PSUs or REFUSING to sell PSUs without a Mobo+CPU combo.

While I'm just chilling and mining on my good old 7970 from the Litecoin days on my old trusty Corsair 750W with ROI being the least of my worries.

enlighten us here (asic owner since 2013) is there still a good enough reason to get GPU's for mining...or is this fading?

curious

(i have ONE 1080 gpu card with my alienware R7 laptop for the computer/crypto biz (cough!) and of course got the espansion chassis to add the option to mine coins (cough!..hey...I

see you roflao about that ...I mean would I really use this as a crypto equip deduction just to game? (cough...er choking as I type this)

best 5k I ever spent at the high on BTC......as a crypto computer equip deduction (cough!) ......but alas..the biz needed a new laptop (ducks from thrown items in bitcointalk

hey..someone could take out my eye here!)

anyway, worked for me and GPU mining (cough!) now if I actually could figure out HOW to GPU mine.this may make more sense...but so far ..games (er I mean) crypto research

is keeping me occupied enough. Smiley

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

The real reason the price of bitcoin reached where it currently is:

THREE coin dealers here in my city have confirmed to me personally that "Bitcoin is sucking the oxygen out of the room" re physical gold buyers.  But, this is perhaps fashion.

Of course it's "fashion".  The overwhelming majority of people are completely clueless when it comes to economics or investing and simply fall back on human herd mentality.  Since they know nothing, they see an asset rise and then believe, "well, there must be people who are more knowledgeable than me investing in this and I will thus defer to their opinion and buy some too since everyone else is".

This is why pump and dump scams never cease to stop working.  Humans have a finite lifespan so there literally is a sucker born every minute.  The price of bitcoin has been controlled almost entirely by a single entity painting the tape and spoofing walls mostly operating on Bitfinex ever since the price was $200.  I'm probably the first person to talk about this, and then later even Zerohedge wrote articles about it calling him "the Bitfinex spoofer".  One scammer can create an army of zombies to follow him.

Just like all artificially rigged pump and dumps, bitcoin will fall out of fashion, the lemmings will sell their bitcoin post-collapse at the same price or lower than what they bought in, and then say "darn, I wish I bought metals before gold went up 10x and silver went up 20x. I guess i'll buy some now!".  To actually make money, you have to be somewhat of a contrarian investor and buy cold markets while immediately dumping any market full of dumb money lemmings.

Why not just get a Trezor for about twice the cost?

Can you download Coinomi, Bither and Bitpie and then claim your forks on a Trezor?

SatoshiLabs has to first add Trezor support for the new forked coins, as they have with past forks such as BCash and BitcoinGold. But once they have done that, you should be able to claim and send your forked coins anywhere you wish.

They have rules around what Bitcoin forks they will support though:

https://trezor.io/troubleshooter/#103

Thanks, but I have kind of an issue with companies telling me what forks I can and can not have.
With a phone I choose what to claim and not.

You still control your private keys.  Anything they do is a gift.  You can move your coins to another HD Wallet and then sweep the Bitcorn Blast off the old addresses just like you could with any other wallet.  Or import the old keys into your phone etc.

Don't bother, Arries understanding of the underlying technology is spotty at best.

A couple weeks ago he was claiming that he never signed his transactions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GxFbw57dVU

No I did not, I said I didn't understand signing. I know that it somehow takes place when you do a normal transaction, and that you somehow can do it ofline as well. I just don't understand how it works. I dare you to show me and everybody else the post where I stated that I never sign my transactions. Don't be an asshole.

EDIT: Maybe dare is the wrong word, challenge might be better? English is not my first language, sorry.

But whats the point? I can do that with a paper wallet and a phone at a fraction of the cost.

In my opinion GPU mining right now is very profitable if you already own the equipment.

Right now there is a shortage of GPUs, PSUs, Motherboards, and USB Risers. So starting from scratch is going to be very expensive and a headache.

You can try mining with your laptop, however its generally not recommended however since its a gaming laptop, maybe the cooling is improved. Either way I would first REMOVE THE BATTERY before mining so it doesn't overheat and explode.

I am calling for a nice little spike within 36 hours.

I'll keep HODLing on my $12.5k sell order for another 36 hours.

If it plunges below $10k, I will find you, and make you my bitch.

No lube.

Whoaza!!!!!!

Prediction making has consequences these days.   Us HODLers, and perhaps especially Toxic, are hoping for a spike in the upwards direction in the coming day and a half.

Regarding my own predicting abilities, I frequently am pretty whimpy in that respect.  I consider that currently we have a BTC  price battle that is largely ranging in the $10k to $12.5k arena, so certainly Bob is betting on price movement into the upper end of the range - which seems to be reasonable, yet really nothing to write home about until we bounce either above the range into the $13ks or below the range, into the 4 digits.  Maybe I am close to 50/50 in my current thinking regarding which way the break out is going to go, and I suppose that if I was forced in either direction, I would give a slightly more favorable to up.. perhaps 51%

No hopium here per say my friend. Just putting forth some speculation. If enough of us throw mud against the wall..some is bound to stick. I actually think you show the most discipline when it comes to having a "strategy" anyway.

And ikr...Bob is out to get me...im scared kinda.       ..not even the common courtesy to offer a reach around. /s
You will be fine tomorrow Bob..go find some varmint to take it out on.

Nice doji forming on the 6hr..

If Bitcoin closes above 11147 in 2.75 hours from now, that would be bullish and Boblawblaw should then be able to stick to his retirement plans and sell @ 12500 very soon.

why 11147?

It's the halfway point on the body of the Jan 21st candle... I'm using Bitfinex daily chart.

why 11147?

Is bitcoin dead if it doesn't close above 11147?

No but the market sentiment would not be indicating bullish going forward.

Euros are obviously not going to get much respect without first creating a 4th reich to expel the rapefugee invasion and Jewish overlords that shipped them in.

I would formulate it as

refrain from opining on matters you admit you don't understand and I will not be forced to confront you on it

You are not "confronting" you are outright lying. Show me the post where I said what you claim I said, or admit that you are a lier.

Furthermore, you never answer any questions, you just move the goalposts and give a slightly related "answer".

When asked to give an example of someone who's coins had been compromised by the Chinese firmware/viruses mentioned, you never answered, but instead started talking about a totally different type of malware ie keyloggers, something never mentioned in the article and never disputed by me.
When asked to show the post where I stated I never sign transactions you instead started talking about my right to air my opinion. You are dishonest in your debating and constantly trying to weasel your way out of a question you know you can't answer by giving an "answer" not related to the question or "answering" with a question.
