block sizes are on average 25.25 BTC recently

All X's

"Hashrate turns to zero and all "x": Either the power module is broken or the whole blade has some problems. If you bought more than one blades. Try using other functional ones' power module to test if it becomes OK. If so please ask us to send you a new power module. If not, please return it back and we will send you a new one (we cover the shipping fee)."

this just happened to me

what can I do, " Either the power module is broken or the whole blade has some problems." both of these seems like problems I can neither troubleshoot or fix

is friedcat going to send me a new blade, or a new power module or ... what

I'm guessing a lot of time will be lost here

should I turn it off immediately? confused here

Check your cabling, might have fried.

ok thanks, regardless, at this point how do I replace now
email and PM friedcat is good point to start with.

alright, I did. Ill just have to be patient  , ugh

I was getting above-expected earnings every day too

565  Economy / Speculation / Re: Alright, be totally honest: who saw this one coming? on: May 25, 2013, 03:32:03 PM
you joined only a month ago. would you have been here 2 years ago, you would have seen this several times … no surprise.

this community relies on this waaaayyyy too much

case in point, I had wired to Mt. Gox months before I made an account here
566  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [12 TH/s] BitMinter.com [ASIC support: var diff, Stratum, GBT, rollntime] on: May 25, 2013, 03:13:31 PM
is "Unconfirmed Transactions" accurate?

Mine has been stuck at the same number for 8 hours, yet I see my earnings in each individual block if I go look

sorry to be so picky about this, but I have to earn back my mining hardware, in a limited time, haha

If you have the pre-paid perk enabled (My Account > Donations and perks, the "immediate pay" options at the end of the page), you are getting paid for every block as soon as it is found and gets at few confirmations (I believe, possibly just one).

The last block that appeared in the block list when you posted was at height 237798. The block in the main chain (the "real" one) at this height was from ASICMiner, not BitMinter. Than means it was probably a stale block, and it still show as "processing" in the list until it is found to be stale. Maybe* this will happen when the next block is found, but as far as I understand, this block will never make it to the main chain and miners will not be paid for it (and it's perfectly normal because it yielded no earnings to the pool).

So, basically, I think you have not been paid in the last 8 hours because of a very unlucky round (6 hours), with an unlucky outcome (i.e. stale), followed by another unlucky round (4 hours), and while I wrote these line, we found one at height 237825 (phew!).

Now, the bad luck is probably going to end, and you will see your unconfirmed total increasing (it will be confirmed immediately if you enable the pre-pay perk w/ a small donation).

Finally, if you're not yet aware of how PPLNS works, you had to "fill" the last 10 shifts when you started mining, meaning initial revenues were lower than expected. But should you stop mining now, you will still earn revenues until you don't have any remaining work shares in the last 10 shifts, so it's a "symmetrical" delay in payments when you start/stop mining.

Hope that helps...

tl;dr: We have been very unlucky in the last 8 hours. Keep mining and with some luck your earnings will catch up with expected ones.

*edit: maybe => yes indeed!

so is the 1.50% perk + 1% pool fee worth it, to avoid the dry spell? just curious

yeah I just did the math, I think this more than alleviates the risk of bad luck, and I still get namecoins, compared to other pools

I can't imagine the cops face when busting in on what they think might be the pot bust of the year only to find a miner and his giant computer Grin

To be honest, if someone asked me what i was doing with this, I would probably say "Search for Aliens, did you ever hear about the SETI project? And of course have my main computer ready running Folding@home or SETI@home Cheesy

Im not sure if I should go with SETI oder Folding here... the SETI thing sounds a little more nuts. The other thing on the other hand is something people won'T comprehend. "You are folding proteins? What the f*Huh!"

when I was shopping for parts at Home Depot, a nice girl working there was helping me get my random list of parts. I told her I was protein folding and explained how that worked

I will probably continue to do that, and sound quite a bit more altruistic than reality

1 NMC = 0.0075 BTC

Why do we need it?

We don't, but since it doesn't cost anything, why not make it?

+100

Please add NMC to stratum... Pretty please!?!

if NMC was added to Stratum then we would make a lot more NMC and have a lot more blocks, I wonder if we would accidentally 51% it
For comparison-BitMinter (12Th/s)
15 blocks per 04:00

is bitminter stratum mining namecoins?

if so how can they and slush cant

thanks

Browse the YaCoin development thread, especially after page 13. There's a whole lot of discussion on Scrypt's memory requeriments, since YaCoin uses a variable formula.

so, great. This thread does reveal that it is possible

I would be willing to crowdsource or do a public offering of shares to support an endeavor. Everyone keeps talking about how much money it would, obvious solution is to pool resources for R&D

try not to 51% litecoin in the process

but you can't make sh*t at bitminer

fees for any perks, and your contribution is a smaller percentage

hm actually I take that back, I hopped on their pool for 3 blocks yesterday and now I have an OK balance in my account

574  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] TAT.ASICMINER New Micro-share Passthrough! on: May 24, 2013, 03:31:39 AM
never got my dividends, update? should I talk to btct.co ?

Did you buy shares after divs were already paid?

No.

I've had shares for a few weeks I think

I got one email from BTCT.co about ASICMINER-PT dividend. Got no email about TAT.ASICMINER dividend. let me check my btct.co spreadsheet though

I did buy more TAT shares with my AM-PT dividend though

Check your history in the website, it should show the dividend, the emails are not definitive. Otherwise, contact burnside if you have confirmed that the dividend did not reach you.

I had edited the post, it is resolved, thanks

Thanks! Keep doing what you do Cheesy

Hm, today's luck has been around 144% , does this mean difficulty is going to rise pretty high next adjustment?

Slush's pool != the entire network.

I understand that , but how long before we revert to a mean? I would like our luck to stay up this high indefinitely!

579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: scrypt is "memory intensive" therefore no ASICs, but how? on: May 23, 2013, 05:12:51 AM
These are very difficult questions to answer. Scrypt is not just a "simple" algorithm that is the same everywhere like SHA-256. It has values that can be changed, and those values can have significant effects on the viability of something like an ASIC. It is also hard to predict how this viability might change over time.

For example, LTC used figures that mistakenly were thought to be GPU-resistant, but they were not. The same could happen regarding ASICs without a deep amount of research. And it could still be wrong.

right

this doesnt help me, can you go into more detail about the values and their significant effects?

I understand this is a very new algorithm, but white papers are a little over my head on these things. who can tell me about it in depth (but the formulas using differential equations will need some adequate explaining)
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / scrypt is "memory intensive" therefore no ASICs, but how? on: May 23, 2013, 04:49:25 AM
hello, so at this point everyone can repeat that scrypt is "memory intensive" and therefore no ASICs can be produced for that algorithm because it would cost too much

now that we have established that copypasta, lets talk details:

what kind of RAM and how much would it cost

what are the technical requirements for a theoretical system to be specifically good at hashing with the scrypt algorithm

for benchmarking purposes, 1000 times better at hashing with the scrypt algorithm, since scrypt is supposed to be 1000 more difficult than the SHA-256 standalone algorithm
