I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties here. The saying "the house always wins" would apply here I would think. At the end of the day they gotta make money.
568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lets discuss Poker on: September 29, 2023, 01:03:53 AM
I think many new gamblers are not aware of how to play poker and/or they do not have complete knowledge of Poker. Unlike other gambling games, Poker requires certain knowledge and there are certain sets of rules in the game. How to Play Poker for Beginners give some brief information about Poker which is a must for everyone who is new to Poker.

Also let's share our experiences about Poker and tips/tricks which may help further improve our game.

NGL I think I may still be learning some of the rules of poker, even now lol. I play here and there with friends on random occasions. Its a lot of fun, I need to read through that rule book though it really would be good to brush up on it.
569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Sports bets/bettting on the NFL games for this weekend on: September 29, 2023, 12:59:21 AM
Alright guys, i'm going to be looking at opening up an account on one of these sports betting sites for the weekend football games  Cool

What should I bet on? I am thinking maybe putting down like $50-$100 just for shits and giggles. (I never really gamble at all).
570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the wildest thing you've ever bet on and won? on: September 29, 2023, 12:54:34 AM
I'll take it back to a classic movie: Caddy Shack. At one point towards the end of the movie there is a huge wager placed on a round of golf between the two guys in this scene:  https://youtu.be/FUDeGD-Qox4?si=HuN1YnHjQPuGc7o5 the caddies are all watching behind the bushes and they're placing some side bets on anything and everything. One of the bets was that the nephew of one of the players who was a goof ball would pick his nose and he did, they doubled down on it and said I bet you he eats it for double! And he did. I always chuckled at that scene, but it always made me wonder what other kind of ridiculous bets that other people make.

Here is the scene:  https://youtu.be/E-jlQS-Wuc0

Hope you all have a good laugh on this and if you haven't seen it watch the movie!
I just watched the video, and it's really kind of funny how people gamble on petty things and still win, and when it comes to me, I just can't remember making such silly/petty gambling on any item before, but this video just reminds me of another gambling scene by Will Smith in a 2015 movie titled "Focus", which I must confess happens to be one of my best gambling scene how Will Smith won the in an attempt where there seems to be zero percent odd of him winning, but he eventually won & went away with the $2million.

So, I can't wait to give this a try someday

Ohh I love this movie, they groom that number 55 number on him all day long with stimuli that he would only see in his peripheral vision and subliminally would notice them. Man, that movie is so awesome they are all like really good theifs haha, its intersting and fun to watch. Let us know how it works for you Cheesy
571  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Flip or Trade? What’s The Bigger Gamble? on: September 29, 2023, 12:52:02 AM
If you're day trading you had better have a damn good idea what you're doing otherwise you might as well just throw all of your silver coins down the wishing well.
572  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: September 29, 2023, 12:50:58 AM
I have generally felt a negative sentiment towards the economy recently from all sources that I have come in contact with. Physical (word of mouth), Social (twitter, IG, Facebook), I hear jokes/remarks in the office. My gut feeling. Hopefully everything ends out alright, our best bet is to challenge that inner negative feeling and speak out agains all the negativity and hope for positive outcomes.
573  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: USB port blocker on: September 28, 2023, 03:17:45 AM
I would imagine that this is a worthwhile investment for an airgapped device considering that malware can get in though USB ports. Good to know about these blockers
574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is this possible on: September 28, 2023, 03:10:24 AM
It's known as a Coinbase transaction -- regarded as the first transaction in the block, and it involves addition of newly mined Bitcoins into the block or even the Bitcoin circulating supply. So the 6.56711563 BTC you see are the Block rewards and total transaction fees in the block that the miners in the ViaBTC mining pool will earn because their mining pool confirmed the block.

It's crazy that I just learned that the first ever coinbase bitcoin block never got confirmed for 50 BTC!!
575  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Satoshi have known? on: September 27, 2023, 09:55:29 PM
Well, he said he was pretty certain that in a few decades it would either have a lot of volume or none. I'd say that he really gave it a 50-50 haha. Of course he for sure had much more faith in it being a future success than that.
576  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: AirGapped Hardware Wallets on: September 27, 2023, 06:27:18 PM
It almost seems like even more of a risk because of the malware that can hack in through the USB connectivity. There are so many different kinds of hardware / software/ airgapped wallets but almost all of them have some sort of security flaw it seems and that the only way to truly have the most secure form of storing your bitcoin is to run bitcoin node yourself. Hopefully this will change with time and there will be more secure ways of storing your coins without having the fear of losing them via a hack.
577  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which wallet is the most suitable option when considering a switch from Ledger? on: September 27, 2023, 06:22:17 PM
Specifically, I am looking for a multicoin wallet, not limited to Bitcoin.

Trezor T.

"......"

Now, after all that talk about Trezor it's worth noting that I prefer Foundation's Passport and Coinkite's ColdCard over the Trezor.  You're likely to read a similar comment from every bitcoin maximalist on this forum.

Thanks for this assessment, I need to look more into the Passport and CoinKite, the Model T Seems to be the best option on the market in terms of market share. I wonder if we know exactly how many people use each of those wallets in relation to population of crypto HODLERs. Is there a way to know that information?
578  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Open Source Fakery?! on: September 27, 2023, 06:14:19 PM
Wow, what a shame on Ledger for trying to cheat their way back into a trusting relationship with the consumer by this sad excuse for an open source code effort. I can't believe them.
579  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Donjon's (Unsuccessful) Double Laser Fault Injection on Coldcard MK4 on: September 27, 2023, 06:12:26 PM
Woah, this is insane! You mean to tell me that they are now using LASERS to pierce through the element chips and gain access. Even if they were only partially successful they are not far off from being completely successful! If they do become completely successful that is certainly very alarming for the security of these cards.
580  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S don't work on: September 27, 2023, 06:10:02 PM
OP this is certainly not ideal, I hope that you figure this out. If you have to buy a new ledger just to get your coins, I would honestly reccomend that you look elsewhere for a new hardware wallet, I have always been recommended the Trezor Model T
