561  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto gambling and religious restrictions on: January 17, 2024, 09:50:37 PM
So what do you think about this? Does gambling with crypto mean that laws about gambling being Haram don't apply all the time?
I was thinking that of crypto is earned outside of one's regular job, for example as a reward for activities such as bounties or sweepstakes, then maybe gambling with these earnings insta Haram?
It’s funny how the human mind often finds a justification for just about doing the wrong thing under some ethics or rules.
Am not categorically saying gambling is wrong, nope, not in my religion but, if by Muslim laws of Haram doesn’t justify gambling to be something that should be practiced by Muslims then, the context to this is in what gambling actually is and not in the currency or event being gambled upon.
Should you be making stakes in bets with hopes of a win or a lose, you’re actually gambling and that ends it.

Now, these laws or rules to gambling might have been some means to avoid its faithful from being compromised or violence and other vices that might be associated with the practice when not done responsibly but, it ain’t wrong. If you can regulate yourself, you’re good but, the law wouldn’t look it at that way though.
562  Economy / Economics / Re: girl math vs boy math on: January 17, 2024, 09:37:08 PM

Apparently, it’s often the case when you have to put these gender together in a means that deals with money management and utilization under normal circumstances. Especially, for the age grade used in making these experiments.

The innate nature of a male child is one that comes with challenges of which most is, having to be the provider, the one that is at the giving end but, the mechanics is different with the female child. They face a different kind of challenge and that be, getting married, yeah, getting married.
As such, the need to be the provider isn’t much of a concern but, it’s often left in the hands of the males.

Of course there are females that have been known to step up and do step up when the situations aren’t right but, there is always a course for this shift. For males, it’s just how life is for the gender.
563  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Patience is not enough for hodling Bitcoin on: January 17, 2024, 09:24:25 PM
Having a source of income is the only way people can exercise patience to invest bitcoin.  It is not possible for one who is hungry and has bitcoin in the wallet and would not want to sell the bitcoin to quench the hunger.

While planning to invest in bitcoin people needs consider to have a steady flow of income , if this is not available no amount of patience can be able to make hodling to take place.
Exactly, patience is a virtue many might have but what better way to exercise it with respect to hodling if you ain’t got other dreams of income. For one one to be able to hodl or take up any investment in life, you sure need to be alive first. A dead man can’t hodl nothing and as such, you need to be running your life and day by some means before being able to have some investment set aside successfully to maturation.
In trying to hodl, get another source of income. Something not within the crypto fields a job that is run by the world order, something you can comprehend, fully understand and have got a great deal of control over. That way, you would be able to make plans and do proper money management to handle the huddles life would throw at you.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My dream business succeeded on: January 17, 2024, 09:09:07 PM
Nice to hear that your father used the public funds meant for the development of the citizens to open a bar for you to increase the drunken in the society. Bar is always to attract more drinkers. Well it is a good thing that you open your own bar but as a daughter of a politician, a bar work is not good for you.
In having yo assume that all politicians are corrupt or just can’t have an investment of their own or perhaps have got no other stream of income aside from politics, then the assumption that the said politician must have dipped hands in the nations or state treasury to finance personal business but, speculatively, this might not be the case. There is no how to know the individual in question since it wasn’t clearly named in OP and it’s possible not to be a corrupt politician. Though majority of the politicians are corrupt, there still is a few in the field that still seeks to do right by the citizens they represent.

Still, the choice of having a bar for a business isn’t exactly something out of place. We all need a place yo chill out and enjoy the earnings of our labor and a bar is one of those places. Now, it’s left for you to establish a limit at which, you don’t result to a drunken state. Even so, it’s good business to the investor.

Meanwhile, having yo accept Bitcoin for a means of payment at the time wouldn’t work so well and you wouldn’t find users opting that for a payment media. Let fiat assist in running the order of the day and when the time is right, you can initiate a Bitcoin payment media.
565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 17, 2024, 08:55:25 PM
I agree with you, can still do a lot of things but must admit it won't be easy because they are under pressure and burden. Since the last 2 seasons Everton has always been close to relegation zone and this is their 3rd season meaning Everton have the experience to get through. Oh yes, today Everton is playing in the FA Cup  here we can see whether this problem has an impact on the player's performance or everything is normal.
I don’t see Everton to be doing very poor. For a team that had 10 points deducted from them this season over finance problems and somehow, they are just a step above the relegation zone, they aren’t a very bad team, they are doing just fine.
10 points go there current league standing, they might be well around 14th on the league table.
I don’t see Everton being a relegated team this season, not with Sean Dyche at the top of its management. His been putting in so much to ensure he wins his easy fixtures and perhaps shared point in what would be seen as the difficult games. That’s the most you could expect of them. Everton would wand their season way better than last season.
566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is newbie and how long does it take to navigate the forum? on: January 17, 2024, 12:00:35 AM
I’ve been on the forum for at least 3years and my total time logged in is just about 51days.

Forum logged-in time surely affects your forum knowledge. If you have spent 51 days of login time on this forum, that's equal to 1224 hours and you have made a lot of posts. Now, Imagine that another user has spent 51 days of login time but they have not reached 100 posts yet. I believe that the user has similar forum knowledge as you. His rank as a Jr. member or Member does not mean he does not know anything about this forum. The guy spends 1224 hours on this forum scrolling and reading. I believe some users do not write anything but they read the forum posts and they are up to date with the historical events of the forum. You might have a different point of view. But, I respect that.
It’s a discussion on views isn’t it. So it’s okay and I tell you, it’s a point of view I didn’t give much consideration like, do people actually do that? Be online or should I say, active for that long and not make nag post?
Why such motive, go the length of account creation, having to login every now and then but somehow, don’t manage to make posts or participate in forum discussions.
Bounty hunters I might understand but for those who knows what goes on in the forum, I can imagine how reluctant that might mean.

Sometimes I'm even not logged in, like when I'm just browsing this forum. This is also a case, where neither my post count nor my time logged in will increase from.
Yeah for sure. I sometimes visit the forum as a guest, person I’m seeking out some information or just want to be up dated on what’s going on and those aren’t taken into account after all, am a guest but still, I’ve got in on the news. These I get.
567  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you pay attention on other people bet and it amount, and does it affect you? on: January 16, 2024, 11:48:47 PM
I don't feel like that if the others bet huge, it encourages me to bet huge? No. I guess that I should be thankful for not having that feeling but sometimes it's good to just stand by and watch all of the other bettors win or how far they're going to go with crash.
While this might not be the case for me or most persons, you tend to bet with an amount that you’re convenient about and it’s largely based on what you’ve got for some reserve.

Where some other gamblers bet might affect me or I might give some consideration is, in the event that, I find someone staking huge on a market that, I am staking against to not play out. Now, that’s a messed up situation as I begin to ask myself; what is this gambler seeing that I am not? What could be the reason behind such a bold step… I try to find and see reason but in the end, I just might abandon the bet or persons find a more logical reason why I should place the bet.
568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Social aspects of online gambling on: January 16, 2024, 11:39:01 PM
To the people that have maybe tried both online and physical gambling, how do you perceive the socialization aspects of online gambling?

In my personal opinion: I think casinos that feature crypto gsmbling are somewhat lacking in terms of how players can communicate with each other. I get that some people that gamble online might actually want to avoid talking to other people, but what if you can only gamble online and still want do socialize a little bit?
Social life isn’t really an objective part to online gambling. It wasn’t very much of the focus about this although, there have been some improvements in the field as, you can have a near staff experience with the bots available on the sites, designed to be as real as possible.

Most users that prefer online gambling does so mainly because of the convenience it provides and you don’t have to mind who’s seated next to you or what your stakes would be perceived as, as well as your losses/profit. Everything stays confidential and you’re good.

Still, physical gambling has got a social aspect of it that makes you want to seat around, have a bear or some bottles of whisky, some fine ass staff here and there, music and a lot of other fun stuff that I wouldn’t want to mention.
569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout or wait till the end? on: January 16, 2024, 11:25:45 PM
I find this to be a persons specific decision to come by. While the cash out option might be an important innovation in the gambling industry and it could be some means to cut loose, I haven’t been that time of gambler to cut loss on a prediction. Most times, I tend to go all in on my predictions in an accumulated bet. I want to see the outcome play out on my slip, I like to get the whole excitement that comes with the event of a win rather than cash out and wish I never did. On the events that I loss, it better shapes my gambling and that’s okay.

it's lack of respect for luck, if people understand that luck is picky they will respect whatever they get out of luck, and patiently wait for another good day.
Is that really a thing?
Gambling might largely be a case of luck but, you still have to be analytical about the market your betting on to increase your chances.
570  Other / Meta / Re: Change username? on: January 16, 2024, 06:34:44 PM
I hope those that have managed to change the username from a time be in this forum to see and comment on this. Changing of username is possible and has been archived by a few even without being a donator and donating a whole 10BTC with the current price..: that’s not what it is. These where presets from a time when Bitcoin price was something easily affordable.

also here for the same question!! Huh

also here for the same question!! Huh

Can I change my name? Here is some admins?

There isn’t any need to come up with these post when you aren’t asking any different question other than as stated in OP. Worst still, you are just a newbie (on forum) and there isn’t much need to be worked up on changing your name. Most of those that have happened to need this change in the past are those that have attained certain rank on the forum and have archived so much with an account not to want a different account but for some reason, don’t want to be known by same username from account creation.

Hence, for those of you making this same posts, asking the same question rather than wait, observe the thread for comments and pick out answers that addresses the issue, you could be said to be spamming the forum with these comments.

Shocked thank you guys
This, this is one way to archive your spam title, no need for this!
571  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: January 16, 2024, 06:21:13 PM
It’s obvious most of your observation and speculation happens to be the case and users on the forum has teleported there accounts there in a bid to keep the acquired rank from BTT and other forums but, this doesn’t mean there would be any irrelevances in the traffic on here and how the forum is or should be run.
At the very least, the most that have changed on here is just the ban on mixers which have gained ground in another field. I mean, what would we have expect, they apparently is a needed service in the cryptospace and as such, needs a place to advertise.
Still, there isn’t any assurance that the fate of mixers on Bitcointalkforum wouldn’t be the fate of mixers elsewhere in the near feature. No reason to get worked up about it although, that wasn’t exactly the purpose of the OP.
572  Other / Meta / Re: Did you notice something a little weird? on: January 15, 2024, 01:03:34 PM

I don’t think there is anything weird about this, it’s as normal as it’s always been on my part of observation. Though I wouldn’t say I have taken the time to take a close look at the timing to this but, from population observation, the merit reflects on posts first and after few seconds or at most a minute reflects on the users merit counter. There is nothing to be worried about that. Once you can see your merit on the post of interest, you can be at piece that you merited just the right post from the right user and the merit count shouldn’t be much of a concern at that point.
573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 13, 2024, 06:31:27 PM
It’s been an interesting turn of event so far in the Newcastle vs Manchester City fixture. Where we have had the league favorites take the lead and in no time, lose that lead to Newcastle United. Manchester City has been ridden with errors after errors. Enderson had his round of errors before catching an injury and was substituted from the pitch, S. Ortega came in and you could see him making similar mistakes as Enderson.
Newcastle United continues to surprise me, some of there energy sterns from them having to play from a home side but, a part of me still tells me to be weary of Manchester United. You can’t really write them off and it would be interesting to see what changes Pep would bring on in the second half.
574  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is newbie and how long does it take to navigate the forum? on: January 13, 2024, 05:36:55 PM
Something I agree with you though, a newbie simply means someone that is new to…

Now, being newbie on the forum doesn’t necessarily mean you’re new to cryptocurrency or Bitcoin, it simply means you’re new to the forum. Though you might be a pro on some order platform and have got the bases to the cryptocurrency or bitcoin idea, you remain a beginner on the forum, as the rank states and that’s how your going to be addressed.

Now, the trick is, you’ve hot to learn the ways of the forum and how to adjust to fit in and that’s what makes you a newbie on the event that, your not new to cryptocurrency or Bitcoin.

~snipe~
Something I don’t very much agree with though is,
Your calculations on the logged in time. Forum takes into account minutes spent active online and I tell you, we don’t often spend much time online like we think.
I’ve been on the forum for at least 3years and my total time logged in is just about 51days.
Hence, 7hours or days might actually be a lot and we could as well find users to have been well above the newbie rank.

Possibly dust attack, but the amount spent on dust attack will be a lot less than 4 Euros and the attacker will send an amount that is the minimum funds that can be sent which poses a risk to your privacy.
My observation as well, 4€ is way too much for a dust attack as dust attacks constitutes amounts that have almost zero value.
Well, I can’t tell what might be the motive here but, it’s possible that something fishy might be the case since, the transaction is done without any plausible reason as per solicitation and probably, doesn’t constitute a region in it’s distribution.

Your reaction on the other hand would make all the difference. When you get such unsolicited coins in your wallet and it’s something that is been done to a whole other persons or wallet address, you have to watch it and tighten your security less, you lose everything.
576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to manage gambling winnings on: January 13, 2024, 03:29:48 PM
Seeing the title, I felt this thread was going to take a different direction but, am surprised at the turn it took but still, it’s a good move for sure. Especially as it is a problem in a society where taxe works so well but, it’s hardly the issue for most nations in Africa. You wouldn’t find most persons giving much attention to adopting this means with regards to taxe payment.
The turn on this part would be about, how to manage money especially in events that you’ve got a won bet.
Having to win a bet tends to motivate you to place more bets and that’s where the bad move usually is as, you tend to lose all your winnings eventually.

If you're in the US and wanna learn how to make money sportsbetting without making risky 1 sided bets, PM me.
You mean the accumulation bets when you say not one sided bets or something else? Don’t exist within that territory though. Neither am I confident in other gambler’s prediction.
577  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 13, 2024, 03:02:04 PM
Chelsea want to win so bad even though they need to sacrifice 5 players to receive yellow cards, honestly it's shame, the match held in Chelsea's home and they're struggle to win. They need to play carefully or they will lose many players, they're currently lack of players because some of them are injured and absence due to international league.

Tomorrow should the most interesting match in this week.
I saw most of the Chelsea yellow cards to be uncalled for and out of some reckless tackles. It wasn’t much about them having to win so badly nope. The one card that was necessary was the Diego Silva yellow. It was well deserved and he never paid any attention to what his done but rather caution his colleagues on what was their position in the build up. The tackle was however tactically done, just a little knee jab at the waist to prevent that move on goal.

Chelsea had a good game none the less, they started the game with so much energy and pressure, pushed Fulham to a more defensive strategy but, they continue to have goal problems still. You can imagine Broja holding the ball for way too long even within the goalkeeper box, like what’s that.

Congrats mate.
You know, the forum could be such a hard place to be with the variant characters that exists on here but sometimes, that’s what makes the forum even the more beautiful and worth every admiration.
It’s a place where you got to meet people from every culture and background, beliefs and perceptions towards people and a thing. You would find reasons to not want to be here and as well, an understating of why you joined in here would override what ever negative energy that might flow within.

Being here 3years and staying active is truly a big deal, not so many could manage it but you do still and am sure to keep seeing you around as well. Keep adding value to the space and congrats once more.
580  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: January 12, 2024, 11:16:34 PM

Nope, not in a bit.
I haven’t been able to seat or at any point have a thought on what could have been should I have avoided gambling. Not like I haven’t been met by a lose that wasn’t hurtful or there weren’t days I wished I didn’t have to gamble but, my gambling activities is by far something I’ve got a great level of control over. I could actually go yo a game house and not play any game. That’s just how much control I’ve got over it and every experience from it has been something for the moment.
I think I needed to experience what it is like and have an approach towards it so, I don’t regret having to gamble. Just ensure you’ve got great control over your gambling habits and there wouldn’t be need for regrets.
