Perhaps he is selling scraps from a jeweler? Or someone who does gold plating...?
562  Bitcoin / Pools / What mining pools have you tried? What did you think of them? Where are you now? on: December 01, 2011, 01:34:24 AM
I just started mining a couple weeks ago after I built a new gaming PC. Crossfired 2x6970 and GUIMiner right now.

Tried slush's pool, didn't get it working.
Tried bitcoinpool.org and they banned me for turning off mining while playing games (i think)
Settled on deepbit because it was easy and had regular payouts.

No arguing about who is doing it wrong, I want to hear about your own personal experience.

What is this?  Sounds interesting, but Googling did not turn much up.  Can you explain what SIP is and how to use it? (So I can decide whether to go through the trouble of installing it on my phone)

Thanks!
565  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why mess around with alt coins, litecoin on: November 29, 2011, 06:12:23 PM

Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for.

I just downloaded the basic Litecoin client and left my computer on overnight mining.  When I click the "Start Mining" button, i get the messaged "Solo Mining Started", but I don't see any Kh/s measure or any indication that I am actually doing any work.  How can I tell if my computer is mining correctly?

Anyone have a recommendation of an easy-to-setup mining program and/or mining pool for litecoin?

What rate can you mine litecoins at with average or top of the line CPUs?

Site speed is much better now.

I see you are selling 1oz Gold American Eagles for 68AUD.  (Images indicate 1oz). They should be going for ~1843AUD.  Your math is way off.

Will you actually honor orders for these coins and mail them at this price?  If so, I'll take every one you've got  Grin

good strategic players do have an advantage in the system over poor players and it's possible to make money in the long run.

The money is coming from somewhere.  It's a scam to exploit poor players who don't understand the rules to make 'good players' and the auction site holder money.
569  Other / Beginners & Help / SwitchPoker - Way to convert Credit Card to Bitcoin? on: November 28, 2011, 11:01:17 PM
If you go to https://www.switchpoker.com, you can see that they allow deposits with Visa and Mastercard.

They recently enabled Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals.

Can you use Switchpoker as a way of converting Credit Card funds into Bitcoin?

Cool, I will give your service a try with a small amount.

Can you elaborate on what "ISO 27001 compliant" means in terms of what measures you have implemented?

Also, it appears the ASIO T4 certification is from the official Australian government intelligence agency, is this correct?  Did they audit your security?  What did they think about your business?  Does this mean you have their implicit permission to operate?

Your site is very slow to load for me on the Pacific coast of America. (10+ seconds).  Why do you think that is?

Assuming your answers all look as good as everything else I have seen, I think you may soon be my favorite exchange  Grin  Thanks!

I saw a post about this, but now I can't find it.  What does  "ISO 27001 compliant + ASIO T4 certification" mean, and could you post evidence of these certifications?

The OP seemed to think that this certification and compliance was fabricated.  CxC looks like a very cool new exchange, but seem like they might be too good to be true.

Thoughts anyone?

Will anyone see me in the newbie section? How can I get out? I'd love to post this in the relevant main thread:
