Is your problem logging in or withdrawing?
As far as two factor auth, when you set it up in GLBSE, then from your mobile you scan a QR code that contains a secret. The Google Authenticator app will use that secret in the future.
At a later point in time, you will be asked for an auth code. That auth code changes periodically, like once a minute. Google Authenticator is an app that creates these codes, based on that secret that you scanned earlier.

I'm looking at the virtual visa card, and it looks like its balance is denoted in bitcoins. Any information available on how/when they do the exchange? Costs in bitcoins for the service are here https://walletbit.com/pricing. (10% of value plus 0.92 BTC, max value is 30.83 BTC) -bgc At the time you transfer your bitcoins are converted to USDs. So for a $10 Virtual VISA, the fee is 10% + 0.92 Bitcoin So ... $10 + (10% of $10) + 0.92 BTC. that's $10 + $1 + 0.92 BTC or $11 + 0.92 BTC or 1.69230769 BTC (At BTC/USD for Mt. Gox last, of $6.5 ) + 0.92 BTC or 2.61230769 BTC So the $10 Virtual Visa costs $16.98 USD. Of course, most of that is due to the 0.92 BTC fixed per-trx fee.

Stage 1: Bitcoin doesn't have useful systems built for it.
Stage 2: Bitcoin has useful systems, but they are relatively expensive.
Stage 3: Bitcoin has useful systems, and they are relatively cheap.
Stage 4: Bitcoin takes over the world.
We're in Stage 2, building systems where none existed before. Give it time, and you will see prices come down. Bitcoin allows the baseline sending of money to be near-zero cost, and thus it is inevitable that affiliated service providers will tend toward cheaper rates than those available in non-Bitcoin systems.
In comparison, a merchant accepting credit card pays 2 to 3% in merchant fees (unless in travel or other high risk category where 8% or more is common) and the merchant still is exposed chargebacks, and doesn't get to spend the money for a couple days. While I might pay several percent to buy bitcoins using fiat because I want them right now, the merchant can share the cost savings from bitcoin by offering a discount over fiat when accepting bitcoin as payment. That is already happening in a couple instances. Hopefully we'll see more of that.

Just noticed this. SatoshiDICE is THE MOST SUCCESSFUL bitcoin startup to-date (in terms of participation by the wider population) SatoshiDICE has (had) THE MOST SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND concept for gambling. I send x BTC to y address and either I win or I lose. And I know right away. Unlike other online gambling systems, blockchain-based ones (like this and BitLotto) are resistant to cheating by the operator. Because there will be evidence if SatoshiDICE cheats at all, I trust wagering with the service. Now you want to add variations to it? Progressive jackpots, .... seriously? KEEP IT SIMPLE! Stick with what's working. You want to increase play? Build a mobile app, and/or a slick HTML5 UX maybe. Make it simpler to use ... not more complicated with other features! SatoshIDICE should be .. install this app. Click Buy Bitcoin. Go to a bank or 7-11 and give them cash (cash deposit methods are available in U.S., Canada, Australia, Brazil, Russia, India ... and more options soon). Pick which bet you want and click "Roll Dice". Boom. Done.

If there were still doubts that bitcoin would never be used for real commerce by real businesses, we put that to bed. Is there a directory that lists your customers (with their permission, of course)? There may be businesses that accept bitcoin through Bit_Pay that I might would patronize but because I have no way of knowing of them, I'm not buying from them currently.

With current traffic exceeding two million page views per week, this forum is getting quite a workout!

I had remembered seeing a photo in a thread but I couldn't remember which thread it was in. Since images are always external (e.g., on imgur, or elsewhere) I didn't think there was any way to Google search for them. But, I was wrong. Simply adding: site:bitcointalk.org when searching Google Images gives a Pinterest-like view of the forum: - https://www.google.com/imghpEven though the images are links to external sources, Google indexes them just as if they were hosted on BitcoinTalk.org. Fantastic! Then the normal search filtering is possible, so I can click the "Past week" filter to see just recent images. Then when I click to view the image I was looking for, in the top right is the "Website for this image" link, which brings me to the exact post in the thread with the link to the image. This is a great new way (new for me, at least) to navigate the forum!

I have found no way to sell my BTC so that I end with it in my bank as ZAR.
Another method just recently made available to cash out bitcoins to ZAR at a bank is to use CA Virtex, which lets you withdraw your funds (CAD) to your Payza (formerly AlertPay) account. From there, withdrawal (as ZAR) to a South African bank is possible. - https://www.payza.com/features/available-currencies - http://www.CAVirtEx.com

IF all these mega tera ultra super mining coffee warming kitchen appliances come out prior to the block split wont these things make the split happen a LOT sooner?
Not necessarily. It difficulty were to shoot up one time, and then drop by that same amount the next, then it would actually cause the date to be pushed back. Here's an explanation: I think it's pretty safe to say that if you think the price per coin is going to stay the same or rise then we'll see the date before December 9th, 2012 for sure.
Let's say the difficulty in December is up over 15% from here. But to get there from here saw a 10% rise in the next adjustment, then a 8% drop in the one after, over and over for the next 14 adjustments remaining before block 210,000. Even with the difficuly increasing, the date for 210,000 would be pushed later, past December 9th even I believe. That is because the faster hashing burns through the calendar days on the way up and does not more than offset the death march that occurs on the calendar when trying to get to the next adjustment when hashing is below the difficulty level. So it isn't just a question of will the difficulty be higher, but will it be volatile from one adjustment period to the next (on net, pushing the date further back), or will it be an even steady increase along the way ( pulling the date to be earlier ).

Sadly, this service has closed. BitcoinMarket24
Site down notice.
[Update 20th of June 2012 - Discontinuation notice]: We want to thank all our customers for your business. Unfortunately we underestimated the amount of work and resources required to run a site like ours, esp. the legal and anti-fraud aspects. Since we do not have sufficient time and the resources to continue running the service, we have decided to discontinue it. We wish that we did not have to do this, and it was a difficult decision to make. We would again thank all the customers for your business.

do i need to have a verified account to send money on mtgox? I want to trade dwolla USD for a mt gox code but I want to make sure i'll be able to move the funds
It isn't clear what you are asking. Are you saying you have Dwolla USD and want to move funds to Mt. Gox? Mt. Gox will not credit your account for that until it is verified. If you instead can trade your Dwolla USD here with someone and obtain a Mt. Gox redeemable code, then you can redeem that code to your Mt. Gox account -- no verification step necessary (unless you were to do something "suspicious", like use Tor). If you are even more sensitive to privacy, it might be best not to use an exchange at all. Just trade your Dwolla USDs for BTCs directly, here or on #bitcoin-otc marketplace, or LocalBitcoins.com, etc.

Ok, things aren't adding up here. To further hide the criminal activity, the hackers alter bank statements, leaving the victims clueless to the transactions. - http://www.scmagazine.com.au/News/306602,ongoing-racket-drains-high-roller-bank-accounts.aspxSo whose multifactor authentication was compromised? The customer cannot alter their own bank statement. If it was the customer's chip and pin system (or whatever they use) to blame, then the problem wouldn't be hacked bank statements. So, my bet is that this is a compromise of the banks internal systems and not just compromises on the customer side.

What are the chances that the RBS / Nat West / Ulster Bank problems last week were truly because of "problems with an upgrade"? I can't see how those two tools Zeus and SpyEye would have control of enough systems where multifactor authentication is used to be successful at draining $75 million worth of funds. I'ld suspect most of the exploited systems were not using multifactor (e.g., time based PIN on a smartcard or like what Yubikey offers) or with method they had there was some vulnerability (e.g., account recovery process) that provided some way to bypass multifactor. Either way, I wonder which is a worse fate ... that the banks are insolvent or that they are incompetent? Be prepared! What happens with your bitcoints if you've had just the bitcoin client on your PC, but for some reason reinstalled it clean or changed it? How do you reclaim your coins/wallet?
Your wallet.dat holds the private keys needed to spend the coins. If you reinstalled Windows without making a backup, then you have a situation. If it is a significant amount of money, you need to turn off the computer immediately so that no further harm is done, and use a tool to scan the drive to see if possibly the data might still be on the hard drive (if wallet.dat hadn't been encrypted).

How many times you walked by a street musician, liked the music, but afterwards couldn't look them up to recommend them to your friends ? I propose to build a website like this -- where youtube recordings of street musicians are catalogued, and eventually, someone would post their contact info.
This was the pivot that YouTipIt tried. They've since closed, but they provided a flyer with details and a QR code that the musician would print and present.
