5601  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When Will Bitcoin Reach $1000?? on: November 14, 2013, 08:55:06 AM
Sooner or later it will hit $1000, just it would take years.......

indeed, it will take years for you to get over the brutal fact that it´s going to 1000 within 90 days ...

5602  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: November 13, 2013, 10:13:06 PM
Hitting that price is 100% dependant on Bitcoin being adopted by the mainstream and fully integrated into day-to-day life. Otherwise I don't see it happening. That is a tremendously high market cap, especially as the supply of bitcoin grows

yeah it´s almost reaching the market cap of rovio.

....wait...?   rovio ??

Why 1000 $ attendance  fee???

it was 140 $ when we announced the idea. the idea was to buy in cheap for a class a international party. and if you use btc that you have purchased when price was lower it is even cheaper.  Grin

5611  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's getting frothy, and I'm dumping 75% of my coins on: November 13, 2013, 07:39:33 AM
You guys literally don't get it.  Only 5 percent can take profit.  95 percent have to get burnt.

No. People can cash out as the price rises. As long as there is money inflow everyone can profit. Since bitcoin is a currency/store of value, even those at the end are not "doomed to be holding the bags", like in a typical pyramid scheme.

People earlier this year PROFITED at $30. They never have to come back and buy "at a loss".

People are profiting every day at $380.

not true... think about it.... at the end of the final cycle up whenever that may be, 100% of those people are left holding the bags.

so if you use your bitcoin to buy drugs, transfer money to people, buy things on the internet, thats fine, you are using the currency and not hoarding / holding BTC - you will have no issues with BTC.

BUT if you are speculating, and holding BTC, in the end, a massive amount of people must get burned. Logically, only the same amount of money that went into bitcoin can come out of bitcoin. For every seller there MUST be a buyer, or the price collapses.

So unless you propose that it will stay at a fixed value, with a never ending arrival of new buyers, and more amazingly, sellers who never buy back in again, this eventually has to end in tears for most people. That or bitcoin must approach a value of infinity - literally always going up, so there is never a final high.

What you are actually talking about in your earlier reply is the "greater fool theory" - where the earlier participants find the fool to hold the bag for them.

Everyone involved with BTC just sees $$$s and riches. No one seems to actually sit down and think things through.

so in all stock trade the majority of the buyers will get burned ? why is stock trading still around ? why do you have companies with stocks that are selling for decades ? and bitcoin isn´t even a stock, stock performance isn´t the limit.
5612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 13, 2013, 07:25:40 AM
Could it be that the Bitcoin popularity arrived at a bad time? I mean this year the price surged and many people became aware of Bitcoin but looking at the infraestructure that surrounds Bitcoin you can see that it is still in its infancy so I imagine many people who got interested in it at first also got dissapointed when they found all the trouble trading with Bitcoins entails, all the technical stuff surrounding it and the kind of shadyness of many of the services surrounding the virtual coin. For example the noobishness of some of the big exchanges. I can't help but feel that the hype was somehow kind of wasted because of all these problems. Maybe later when the infraestructure is more mature people will adopt it faster and it will become a much bigger phenomenon. What do you think?

This is why the exchange rate is still quite low.

Bitcoin is a marathon, not a sprint.

Yeah. If we did not have the undeveloped infrastructure, people could just easily buy bitcoins, and the price would rise really fast and be already much higher. You can't have it both ways.

yes, it is actually a good thing. if it would have been different, we would not have been able to buy bitcoins so cheap until a month ago. there are so many stages of awareness and adoption. i know bitcoin since 2011 and there are still moments when i discover yet another beautiful feature of bitcoin. it is programmable money, be pepared for plenty surprises. the hype around the price is bitcoins marketing branch. it has no company behind it that can follow marketing strategies. it is left without a marketing budget. the chart is its speaker, and it does its job just fine. bitcoins cumbersomeness towards beginners is not a problem. it gives us the chance to feel like the pros.... Cool
if the story would only have three easy pages, the hype wouldn´t be able to build up this momentum. everything is fine. relax & enjoy. we are making history.
5613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: November 12, 2013, 09:41:32 PM
when price was about 3.5 dollars, there were discussions if it would ever reach 10 dollars.

not even triple the price. 1000 is history soon TM

Maybe, but maybe not.

you think ?   Huh
5614  Economy / Speculation / Re: how many BTC is enough? on: November 12, 2013, 09:39:08 PM
50 should be good, because max the bitcoins can soar to is $4000-$5000.

Also you'd have to hold them for atleast 10 years.

if you would have written "1 year" i´d agree.    Wink

5620  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Erster großer Essenslieferservice in Deutschland akzeptiert Bitcoins on: November 12, 2013, 05:28:12 PM
Ich hab ein Skript geschrieben das die aktuellen Bitcoinkurse anzeigt:

Code:
javascript:$.getJSON("https://bitpay.com/api/rates", function(data) {  $("a[itemprop='price']").each(function(i,v) {$(v).html($(v).html()+" = "+($(v).html().replace("€ ","").replace(",",".")*1000/data[1].rate).toFixed(0)+"mBTC")})})

Smiley
