That was great Hairy, thanks for bringing it in.
I am at a loss guys; I can't decide to set up just over 11 for the sure thing or be greedy and set up clear the fuck down by 9.

I started to listen to the interview, and I got several minutes into the interview and I was wondering what it had to do with bitcoin or if it was going to have some bitcoin relation. In other words I abandoned it. I will go back to it if there is any bitcoin relevance. We are just trying to keep you up to date on contemporary cultural literacy Jay. Bitcoin isn't everything. We should all strive to be well rounded individuals. This guy is relevant because his interview with Cathy Newman last week was a seismic cultural event, still reverberating around the internet.

Thank you very much. I had exact same problem (ArmoryDB not connecting to bitcoinABC) and was struggling since months. Could not figure out I had to downgrade to an older version, was quite doing the opposite (looking for the latest versions of everything). Now I hope I can finally spend my BCH.
By the way as you asked how to improve your guide you may want to detail how to get the sources of the v0.16.1.0 version of bitcoinABC (I'm saying this because, differently than Armory which gives step by step instructions for this, I could find no similar instructions for bitcoinABC)..
good point I found the binaries at https://download.bitcoinabc.org/0.16.1/will link in above post

due to having a small SSD running in my machine, using the default locations is not an option for me. I have to put them on an external drive.
This is a very common problem and one, in my opinion, Core could have made easier to manage. Who, in this day and age, loads their C: with untold GB of application data?? I share your frustration with that. You have probably seen it but here is a primer on getting the big folder off your SSD. https://bitzuma.com/posts/moving-the-bitcoin-core-data-directory/

I did back up the wallet and I have the address I sent the bitcoin too. But this bitcoin core download is now over 36hrs. It just keeps going slower and slower. I have down loaded 83% but with the progress increase speed down to 0.4% I don't think it will ever finish.
This is one of the reasons so many folks are against a blocksize increase. Yes, it is a lot of data. No, it is not going slower and slower, it just seems like it because all of the more recent blocks are full. be patient and let Core sync up. If you have that wallet file and its associated password your coins are safe.

fuck...missed it Pretty much anytime is the bottom right now :/
I mean we've reached the 20k... We're at 11k... So you can buy anytime and hold tight. If you try to fish the bottom there is statistically a rather low chance that you hit the right point. YOu'll probably miss the bottom and sooner than you think it'll be over 20k again ^^
yeah, I'm kinda famous (in my house) for picking up pennies in front of the steamroller I am refining it to a fine art

where to fish this bottom?

Is it not possible that Etherum can overtake bitcoin and if it does - btc will drop to 1k? Is it not possible?

Went to my local computer store to buy a new PSU. Since my 4 year old Corsair 750W is crapping out.
I look behind the counter and they got a bunch of rigs mining. I wanted to buy a PSU and they said they are not selling them without a motherboard+cpu combo.
WTF?
fuck 'em if they don't want your money newegg yourself a new Seasonic and party on

you really need to find your armory_walletnamehere_.wallet file for the address you sent your coins to
you did back that up right?

How do you guys compute your taxes when...
You mined 1 ETH with your GPU ....
You sold 1 ETH and bought BTC ....
You held that BTC for a long time and then sold for USD ...
The 1 ETH is business income? The BTC is considered capital gains?
Heres my question. In 2017. Ive held bitcoin for 3 years, then that bitcoin forked into bitcoin cash, which i sold for bitcoin. then i used the bitcoin and the bitcoin cash proceeds to trade dogecoin and make more bitcoin profits. then finally I sell some bitcoins for cash and withdrawal. How much of this is short term gains and how much is long term gains, or is it all long term gains since cash was the only thing that mattered in 2017? Also are the remaining bitcoins that I made in profit but havent sold taxable or not? kind of makes this whole government thing seem kind of silly doesn't it

In a sense u would like to see sub-10k bitcoin as well (if I had the funds to buy up more, which I don't). But I'm afraid we won't see a sub-10k bitcoin again. I'm pretty bullish short term. However if we do go sub 10k again we might be in for a longer bearish maket.
I recall hearing that in December. We were done, never again they said. Perhaps in casting predictions we should find an iota of modesty... IOTA it is ALL IN WEEEEEEEEE
