We know about it. The Weiss ratings were linked and discussed earlier. At this stage Wall Street types have a poor understanding of crypto.  So any ratings will need to be taken with a grain of salt.  

In particular, we don’t know how Weiss will deal with massive overhang of founders’ holdings like in XRP or how they will try to calculate concentration of ownership in XMR.  Or maybe they won’t take it into account, which would be a mistake in my books.

I know they have poor understanding - as most of investors but in US all investors look at scamy ratings.

Just look on 2008 - for years ratings gave 5 stars to crap - without them it would crash so much earlier

It's trivial to build an exact replica of Bitcoin.
But it's impossible to make that replica grow and achieve any traction without the creator being in control of it.
But having someone in control defeats the entire purpose.

So the only way that any altcoin can grow is if there is a team of full-time con artists working hard to code, mine and promote it. So every alt is under the full control of a team of scammers, which makes their entire use of Bitcoin's decentralized design laughably retarded.

There is nothing wrong with a centralized competitor to Bitcoin. But there is something laughably wrong, stupid, and utterly unworkable about centralized shitcoins adopting a highly inefficient decentralized structure purely to pretend to be Bitcoin 2.0.

You can build anything you want on a second layer of transactions, holding Bitcoins in reserve. This requires nothing from any other developers. Only reason people don't do it is that they want to make their own currency to scam noobs.

IMO certain altcoins have a place in this world unless and until bitcoin can fit every use case required. It's getting pretty close to being able to do with the inclusion of LN, rootstock and other 2nd layers/sidechains.

I foresee Monero thriving in any case. With it's opaque blockchain and fungibility, I see it as the only altcoin that Bitcoin can't completely displace.

When bitcoin can fill every role nearly as well as any altcoin, the only argument left for having an altcoin would be that Bitcoin is too decentralized, and you need a totalitarian, centralized governance (Etherium, Bcash, Federal Reserve Coin).

I foresee Monero thriving in any case.

Really tho? Is it not ironic that Bitcoin's supposedly "slow dev cycle" is why altcoins exist, but 99.999999999999% of them have never actually participated in an e-Commerce transaction? You know, actually used to buy stuff online, which is what they all supposedly tout as their eventual purpose for existing? Years will pass and altcoins still won't have merchant adoption. Years will pass and ICO apps won't go anywhere. Perhaps a decade or more will pass, and all of the alts will be exactly where they are today in the merchant world: nowhere.

The delusion runs insanely deep with shitcoins. Insanely deep. There is only so long that you can keep using the "yes but in the future my alt will..." argument.

btc used to be 90% dominance. That changed when we started getting investors and retail traders who know nothing about cryptocurrencies, instead of all the buyers being from the technical community and knowing better. It's kind of like the penny stock market where average joe retail traders are buying up companies that dont even exist to a $100M market cap, just because its cheap. These are good days to be a developer or an altcoin trader, just not a bitcoin idealist.

I personally think LAPPS will nullify the significance of the majority of alts.  But of all the alts Monero may remain valuable.

I am curious how the two blockchains might interact on their respective coming second layers.

I think he's saying that a drop to 8K would invalidate his Elliot Wave count. Given his history of correct Elliot wave counts to date, that's quite unlikely.
