5641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: (Olympics Boxing) Carlo Paalam vs Ryomei Tanaka on: August 04, 2021, 02:25:49 PM
Paalam beat the reigning Olympic flyweight in the last match, so that's a big boost for him and assured us for a bronze medal already.

But he will be facing another local here, so this will be tougher that his last fight in my opinion. Let's see what the odds are, the match is tomorrow 1:30 our local time so enough time for sportsbet to give us the odds in this match.
5642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 03, 2021, 11:37:35 PM
Lots of transfers and whopping extensions for their contracts that's happened recently. What you guys feel about the transfer of Caruso to Chi?

Did Lakers just lost one of their best bench?

The Lakers still have THT, they also added Kendrick Nunn (from Miami) and also Kent Bazemore (from GSW), so I think the Lakers still have some good bench players. Although Caruso really blossomed in the Lakers uniform, but it's business to he choose a more lucrative contracts with the Bulls.

Lebron + Carmelo, that will be an awesome tandem in the wing.
5643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tokyo 2020 Men's Olympics Basketball Tournament on: August 03, 2021, 11:06:39 PM
My predictions for the semi final games are like this:

USA - Australia
France - Slovenia

I don't think that Australia would be able to resist to USA. Durant would probably be the player of the game again and USA would win it easily.
Australia is not an easy opponent and we know that team USA is not that strong because only Durant plays the best game so far and if they didn’t step up, Australia will have a chance to win though of course USA have more pride here after defeating a world champion Spain team, this is an exciting game. My prediction would be USA and FRANCE in the finals, that could be more fun.

I agree, Australia will be a tough battle for the US, I think they are also one of the favourites to win in this  Olympics. They are lead by Patty Mills, so this will be an interesting battle. They've so far covered the spread, they are -8.5 against Argentina and we all know by now what the score is. So for basketball fans, this is a must see games, USA vs Australia.
5644  Economy / Speculation / Re: Drop from $60k to $30k was part of bull run cycle? on: August 03, 2021, 04:41:44 PM
I never realised the Fib projection of 1.618 actually was strong support back in 2017 and this year. First time I've seen this on a chart. Very interesting. Could we be in this super cycle and go to like $150K or so, maybe. Who knows?

Keep in mind that there is always a chance that the right shoulder of the weekly chart could hold and we can still retest the $30K area, or even the last ATH of $20K or 200WMA which is like $14K or so.

People are very bullish right now however because they are thinking 2021 is a repeat of 2013 where we bottomed in July and will top out in Nov/Dec. And it'll break the $64K and stall out somewhere at the end of the year over $100K.

Yeah, the S2F model points a similarity to a 2013 that's why its prediction is still $100k.

And the last quarter of the year was a really strong push, just like what we have seen in previous bull runs or even last year. The last bottom though is $28k, or least around the line, there's also one thread saying that we should get to $14k first before we expect a massive bull run before the end of the month, but so far we didn't reach that yet.
5645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympics 2020/2021 : Discussion & Predictions on: August 03, 2021, 03:17:26 AM

Glad to see PH will once again take a chance for a possible 2 Gold Medal both by boxing (men and women division). These 2 are now assured of a bronze or silver medal regardless.

If they will successfully snatch it, first time again in PH Olympic history. Few medals compare to other countries but a big achievement as PH is not really expected to bag a medal even a bronze one.

Searching on what sports we are able to take a good shot, it's boxing. A total of 7 out of 13 medals in history came from boxing after the final tally.
I do hope that we will see a second and hopefully a third gold but given that their opponents are really good, I think that they will have a hard time fighting, I root more on Nesthy, if she continues her aggressive approach like what she did to Italy I think that she will be able to make it but she has to be careful because a counter could end everything for her.

More than anything, I just hope that Nesthy takes the win here for our 2nd Gold Medal in the country. But even if she losses, her guaranteed medal is enough to acknowledge her skill and prowess. Imagine, most of our olympians received little to no support from the government and the latter relatively demands so much from them.

I do hope that after this year's olympics, our government will acknowledge the need to support financially these olympians since it requires so much effort, time, and resources to produce world-class athletes that compete with other athletes around the globe.

We do have another medal in boxing, it's a secured bronze for Carlo Paalam as he upsets the Rio Gold medalist. He now moves to the quarter-finals, so if he won then he will fight for the gold. So now the Philippines has surpassed its expectations, with 1 gold for Diaz and then Nesthy assured of a silver already but will fight today for the Gold. And then in the men's division, Marcial/Paalam already sure of bronze and if they won their respective bouts, gold or silver next.
5646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women in Gambling on: August 02, 2021, 07:47:59 PM
There is no such restrictions that gambling is only for men but not much of women love to spend their money on bets because they have other places to spend like shopping, cosmetics and foods. Cheesy

Risk aversion is the term, I mean men prefer to take big risk as compare to women, maybe that's how we are build on made, our genetic make up is different from the women.

But it doesn't mean that there are a few percentage of women not willing to gamble. There's a lot of them, maybe it's the reward ratio, or the rush that gave to them similar to men.
5647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 02, 2021, 06:57:28 PM
We have a hint already.

Report: Carmelo Anthony interested in signing with Lakers, waiting on phone call

However, even if it will come into reality, it's not big news anymore as Carmelo Anthony has already passed his prime.
I like big names like Kyle Lowry and Demar Derozan going to other teams.
Probably it's more of a *good to be on the same team* for Lebron and Anthony. Anthony could be past his prime, but we all know that there could be games that he shows flashes of his old self in Portland.

I'm not sure if they still can accomodate DeRozan or Lowry. Unless Toronto is willing to do a 1:1 trade with Dennis Schroder.

You forgot one thing, Carmelo wanted to have a ring too and Lebron will be giving that option if Lakers are going to absorb him. So it's a win-win situation for Carmelo, not sure if he is willing to have a pay cut just to join Lebron. But it will be the best thing to do for him, he is lucky that Portland gave him the time and money to play last season because as we all know, he no longer as good as he used to be.
5648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nesthy Petecio vs Irie Sena Olympic Gold Match on: August 02, 2021, 01:19:58 PM
Here are the current odds, yes our very won Neshty is the favourite:

This time its different though, Nesthy has improved a lot, although head to head Sena is ahead, but Nesthy has beaten her in 2019 Amateur International Boxing Association championships.

And remember that Petecio is full of confidence and is motivated to bring a second gold for our country. But she has to be very careful and his her ring intelligence as Sena is a local hero as well. I do hope that the judges will be fair in scoring.

So Nesthy by 3-2 decision.
5649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr - August 21 on: August 01, 2021, 06:19:58 PM
Just an update on the betting odds of the fight, betting odds for Pacquiao to win have decrease again.

opening line AFAIR.

1. 2.80
2. 2.65
now 2.47

Big decrease, this means money is flowing on Manny Pacquiao to win.
please check your bookies to confirm.

Yeah, from 2.50 to 2.47 now, down to 3 weeks and I'm sure that the odds are going to be trim down to somewhat in the low 2.x or higher 1.x.

Obviously, money are already pouring on Manny's side now as we get closer to the fight.

Spence 1.48, just putting it down so that we may know if there is going to be some changes as well. And for sure, boxing fans are excited about this fight, and then maybe we can talk about Manny's chance on politics about the fight.

~
So the Philippines will already have a 2 medal haul in this Olympics, another accomplished for the country. The last time the country won multi medal is 89 years ago.

1 Gold 1 Bronze for the PH, very proud of this "girls".

Another quick update for the Philippines, Nesthy Petecio won her match against Testa of Italy with a score of 4-1.

She is now assured of a Silver medal already. But for sure he is gunning for the second gold medal for the Philippines. However, she will be facing a home town fighter Sena Irie. Will be a tough task for her and hopefully the judges will not be bias.
About Nesthy Petecio winning a second Gold for the country, I can't help but laugh at the memes circulating lately. The private sponsors who gave Hidilyn cash/non-cash gifts are sweating because they have to do the same for Neshy.

Lol, I do hope that they don't jinx Petecio, she will be gunning for our second golds in this Olympics. Let's pray that she can win because she will be facing a local fighter.

On a serious note, this is probably the golden age for Philippine Olympics that will be hard to replicate in the future. I hope the next administrations can maintain or improve training facilities all around the country and provide additional funding to our athletes.

We are already assured of a 3 medal haul. Another boxer has another bronze already and be going up for another potential semi-final in his next fight. Eumir Marcial knock out his opponent in first round with still 49 seconds left.

And if another of our boxer won his next fight, another sure bronze for us courtesy of Carlo Paalam.
5651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 01, 2021, 04:39:26 PM
Yes, as the saying goes, "don't fix what ain't broken". So for sure Bucks won't change a thing in their line-up or trade players, unless they are becoming a liable to the them. What they need to do is to really improved in small things like their free throws and three point percentage next season. They still have Giannis + Middleton + Holiday that can still compete high level basketball next season. And then some role players coming off the bench like Portis. For sure this line-up will defend their championship at any cost, they have proven that they can beat the top teams in the East like the Nets (although not healthy, but you can't take away anything from the Bucks). Rick Carlisle though is back as Pacers head-coach.
5652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin (BTC) Difficulty Sees First Positive Adjustment Since May on: August 01, 2021, 04:15:49 PM
And now, the proponents of "hash rate follows price" theory will be much elated to see this report.

And yes since May the hash rate has been dropping, and it's good that somehow it has bounce to the region wherein it is becoming healthy again. I'm not really sure though where the Chinese miners are relocating, maybe just around the region wherein electricity is still cheap and there are profits to be made with the rising price of BTC lately.

I just came here for another congratulatory post for our first-ever Gold medal Grin

I read a post about her Olympic journey since 2008:
2008 - second to the last
2012 - didn't finish
2016 - Silver
2020 - Gold

I also read she got financial support from a private citizen during her preparation for the competition. Just goes to show how important that is to the athletes and why developed countries usually dominate.

Well done Hidilyn Diaz! Enjoy your PHP30 Million (~$600K) reward.

Yeah, I still vividly remember watching her in 2012 summer Olympics in a gym that time.

But after that Diaz improved a lot and bring glory to the Philippines. But finally, we have achieved a very special gold that eluded us for 97 years. Every Filipino around the world should be rejoicing about this win as this is very historic day for all of us to finally hearing our national anthem. Very proud to be Filipino right now!!!.

We still have another women, Nesthy Petecio, who upsets top ranked Lin Yu-Ting of Chinese Taipei in the featherweight division. One win away from a potential medal.

Ok so it's good news for the Philippines again, Nesthy Petecio won her match against Yeni Marcela Arias Castaneda of Colombia. Meaning she is going to the next round, the quarterfinals and will assure her of a bronze medal already.

And if by chance she won against Irma Testa of Italy, she will be fighting for the gold medal.

So the Philippines will already have a 2 medal haul in this Olympics, another accomplished for the country. The last time the country won multi medal is 89 years ago.

1 Gold 1 Bronze for the PH, very proud of this "girls".

5654  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC broke through 33,500 USDT on: July 29, 2021, 09:12:15 PM
^^ Yeah, but it's going to be a slow grind after breaking $40k. Breaching it and sustaining this price level is two different things. So we need to see how long can we sustain it without going back and retesting $38k-$39k.

So far the price seems to hold and the bulls are not going to give back the control of the market to the bears. But as I have said, the growth might slow down a bit and only if we have enough momentum to push it above $40k to $43k remains to be seen.
5655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: July 29, 2021, 02:04:11 PM

What happens on Rain or Shine last night? They are under heavy criticism for only scoring 48 points the whole game?

What ridiculous points per quarter Grin What did they do in 12 minutes of playing per quarter?

That was embarrassing knowing it's not their usual.

That was probably their worse game in the PBA, I've never seen a team that only scored 48 points in the entire game.

And yes, that was really embarrassing, after having a good 3-0 start, they had their first loss which is worse.
I hope they'll bounce back next game, learn and try to figure out what they've done wrong.

Besides, they still have a good start.

Yeah, in my entire life of watching PBA I haven't seen a team scoring 48 points in a game. If I'm not mistaken though, the lowest is 47 points.

What contributes to that low scoring? horrendous shooting, lack of aggressiveness, and they seems to be just going into the motion of the game and doesn't want to contest the game anymore when the Aces was stretching the lead.
5656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If not invested then do it now... on: July 28, 2021, 11:14:39 PM
There's nothing wrong with investing not just on bitcoin but on any other assets, but the problem is:

(1) they think that bitcoin is a get rich quick scheme
(2) bitcoin will go on parabolic rise
(3) they don't invest what they can afford to lose

Obviously, it's not late to invest as long as you can manage your financial in the right way and just invest the extra money into bitcoin and look for it in the long term, at least a year or two to see the potential profit that you are going to make.
5657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coca-Cola gets into NFTs for charity on: July 28, 2021, 09:52:42 PM
Well as you have said it is the latest fad in crypto world, so there's no surprised that one of the biggest companies out there like Coca-Cola is getting into NFT and it is with a good cause.

I'm sure there are huge collectors of Coca-Cola memorabilia and could be individuals who are willing to shell out huge money to add the NFT artwork to their collections. Thus resulting into a huge fund raising for Special Olympics International.
5658  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin truly evolve into super-sovereign currency? on: July 28, 2021, 09:28:57 PM
Maybe there will be certain groups of countries that will make bitcoin as super sovereign currency. Perhaps they will form and bond together to push bitcoin globally. But for sure it will be opposed by top countries, Dollar, Yuan will still be the standard to be used by global trades. They will argue against it as we all know that bitcoin is volatile and unstable and we only have limited supply. Bitcoin can grow tremendously, no doubt about it, but pushing to be a super sovereign currency? I highly doubt it for now.
5659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr - August 21 on: July 28, 2021, 10:41:08 AM
Interesting to hear the Freddie Roach first choice is Mikey Garcia,

Quote
“He wasn’t my first choice,” Roach said of Spence to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports. “I was leaning toward Mikey Garcia, because he challenged us several times and so forth. When Manny picked Spence, I said, ‘Congratulations, you picked the best guy out there.’”

https://www.boxingscene.com/roach-admits-spence-not-his-first-choice-pacquiao-he-leaning-mikey-garcia--159392

That's why perhaps the Garcia's camp was surprised that Manny eventually chooses Spence and that's why the lawsuit.

But I guess Manny just wanted a bigger purse and instead goes for a bigger risk bigger reward on Errol Spence.

I disagree. It will not be for a bigger purse. I read Pacman’s present situation and found that he wants to run for president of the Philippines as the opposition. I reckon a win versus the best welterweight boxer, according to the experts, my choice for that is Terrence Crawford, in any case it will make his survey ratings pump! His popularity will go to the moon and it will certainly give him a better chance to win against the incumbent’s candidate.

But it will just a few millions off, Pacman is already famous in the Philippines, he doesn't need a signature victory against Spence to put him as the next President. And obviously, if he goes against the administration, it will be his downfall. I'm sure majority of the Filipinos will agree that Pacman has a slim chance of winning the election. He did attack the sitting President as far as corruption goes, and Duterte doesn't like it. Philippine politics is very different, dirty at the most. He can't just go to the opposition and then be declared as started bearer. Opposition has already have their slate as early as this. And he has been ousted as the ruling party' because of his attack on Duterte. Best case for him is to create a new party.

As @Natalim has pointed out, politics and boxing are two different things. His popularity will only go that far, winning as senator, but as President, I doubt that he can win it.
