That’s horrible and a little hard to believe even. You’d think that they’d have points where packages are weighed or some other way to tell where in the chain there was a failure. I assume you’ve been in contact with the shipping company to see if they can investigate and try to find the guilty party. Assuming you used a non-government shipping company? Any idea what steps you could have taken to prevent this?

I guess this was priced too high? I couldn’t find prices for these coins near this price. My bad if they can be found elsewhere for this price. Thought I was offering a great deal on these. I’ll lock the topic now as the auction has ended with no bids. If you want to take advantage of this deal feel free to shoot me a PM.

If Satoshi came out with Bitcoin2.0 would you use it over Bitcoin current client, if he advised you to and let you exchange your current btc into it? let`s say he used his keys to 100% prove it is the real person or team.

Sorry for the necro-bump but I saw this post and thought it was interesting.  Personally, I wouldn't follow satoshi into Bitcoin 2.0 at this point based on the fact that the creator of Bitcoin was releasing a new coin.  I would have to see the code and learn what improvements were made, then evaluate if I felt it was better or worse than my current investments.  I didn't buy Bitcoin because of satoshi, and I wouldn't buy Bitcoin 2.0 because of satoshi either.  If it was a great idea though and I felt it had a future, I would definitely invest based on the merit of the idea.

This is a great quote...
“Small minds discuss people. Average minds discuss events. Great minds discuss ideas.”

PS - I once used this quote when debating politics with a liberal.  They said, even your quote was made by a liberal, Eleanor Roosevelt.  I responded that I didn't care who said it, I cared about the idea behind it.

^ My thoughts are the same with Bitcoin, Bitcoin 2.0, or Bitcoin (insert latest gimmick here).  I don't care who created it.  I care about the idea behind it.
5684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 10, 2022, 08:24:27 PM
Just like what I have said, if the Celtics can work on their defense, they can edge out the Warriors and can keep up with the scores. Both teams are known to be weak in terns of defense, but it's impressive that the Celtics were able to up their defense game with little rest on their key players after winning the  conference finals.

What on earth are you talking about!?!?!  The Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors ranked #1 and #2 in team defense rankings this season: https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/defense/?sort=DEF_RATING&dir=-1&Season=2021-22&SeasonType=Regular%20Season

On top of that, the Boston Celtics had the defensive player of the year: https://www.nba.com/news/bostons-marcus-smart-wins-2021-22-kia-defensive-player-of-the-year-award

If there were ever a time when the saying, "defense wins championships" was applicable, it would be this series.  Don't get fooled by the fact that Golden State can shoot the lights out.  They are very much a defensive team.  Draymond even made the all-defensive second team this year.  Klay is also a great lockdown defender (although still getting his groove back).
5685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bulls Decide BTC is an Inflation Hedge & Charge? on: June 10, 2022, 08:15:25 PM
When bad times hit, cash proves itself to be King.  Weak men acted in fear and the bad times are coming.  Yellen can say there's plenty of reason to be optimistic just like she said there wouldn't be inflation.  Don't be fooled though.  Governments are the ones orchestrating this coming recession.  They are going to bring pain on the people until the people realize they need dollars and have to continue working for them.  Small businesses are in the process of being destroyed and the government won't stop until there are calls for universal income.  If you still don't get it, the government wants tax receipt stability.  The sheep all need to grow wool at the same rate so they can be easily sheered.  Get in line or get prepared.
5686  Other / Politics & Society / [POLL] Shutting down the Global Economy to fight covid a good idea? on: June 10, 2022, 08:08:54 PM
Now that economies are opening back up and trying to return to normal with insane inflation levels, the vaccine was found to be 1% effective, the latest variant found to be non-lethal with a stronger immune response than the vaccine, and the bill for all of this is in at around $12,500,000,000,000, was shutting down the global economy to fight the flu a good idea?  Do you feel like you were safer as a result of the policies put in place?  Do you think this is how we should handle virus outbreaks in the future?  Do you think we are better off as a species now as a result of these actions?  Do you think the government's inability to get everyone vaccinated is part of the reason behind this push to destroy the second amendment?
5687  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin scenario crashing to $20.000 - $23.000 on: June 10, 2022, 07:58:42 PM
I don't think we'll see a bounce off the previous high.  The previous high was a bubble and not a serious support level.  If we fall below the recent low around $25K, there is not a doubt in my mind that we slide all the way down to the real resistance level, which from looking at the chart appears to be closer to $10K.  My concern at that point would be that Bitcoin has never fallen below the previous 4-year cycle high since it became known beyond cypherpunks.  So there are probably many who would view a drop below $20K as the end of Bitcoin, which would likely be the catalyst to such a large drop from there.

So do I see Bitcoin hitting $20,000?  Sure, on it's way to $10K.  I do hope we bounce off $26K and go straight to $200,000 though.  If I made the rules, that's what we'd do.  Smiley

I think it looks great and I'll be proud to hang one of these up in my office.  Thanks for making them.  I can't wait to see if it looks as detailed in person.

My question is about the frame.  Do you have any leads or recommendations about what frame can display these things in all their beauty?  Do you have them in double sided frames or in your pictures are the backs of those frames all black?  Thanks again!  Good luck with the rest of your sales!
5689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC goes below 30k after US inflation rate reports on: June 10, 2022, 07:47:43 PM
Thoughts?

Bitcoin is still coupled with traditional investments and acting like a speculative investment instead of the safe haven it is billed to be.  I hope at some point as the stock market & housing market implode, Bitcoin will separate itself and move opposite everything else.  It's important to remember that while Bitcoin has had an incredible run, it has never faced a recession.  There is a good chance that the value drops significantly along with everything else, but I'm hoping that isn't the case.  Would love to see Bitcoin hit $200K while the stock market suffers a 30% loss from here, but so far all signs point to it being a victim of it's investors and the overall market as a whole.
5690  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why USA Should Supply more Offensive Weapons to Ukraine on: June 10, 2022, 07:37:17 PM
Better to use Ukraine as a proxy and let those people suffer, right?

You should came here, to Ukraine, and watch it by yourself. Maybe in that case you'll stop all your shitty takes about "proxy", "global games" etc. We have aggressor and victim.

When your ass in comfort and without a chance to be hit by a missile it's good condition for such sophisticated talks.

No thanks.  I think more American assets in Ukraine is a bad idea, but I appreciate the invite.

I'm not saying that Ukraine isn't the victim or that Russia isn't the aggressor.  I'm saying that sending Ukraine more weapons so they can live in this uncomfortable position for longer just to hurt Russia's finances as a way for the USA to hurt Russia's future is not fair to Ukrainians.

Do you really think that having more weapons would help Ukraine end this war faster?  Even Biden came out publicly and said that we can't stop Russia from doing whatever they want with Ukraine.  All we can do is make it take longer and be more expensive.  Neither of those things are in the best interests of the Ukrainian people.

If you want my no holds barred take on the situation, USA should tell Russia we're either going to stay the hell out of your affairs, or we're going to launch a full scale war against you if you attack our allies.  I don't believe in this proxy war bullshit because the wrong people end up being victims, in this case Ukrainians.
5691  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] NastyMining - 1MH/s, Free Electricity, No Fees, GPUMAX.com on: June 10, 2022, 07:12:32 PM
10 years ago I started a thread with an idea.  I hoped that I would be able to get enough people together to raise funds for a 800MH/s FPGA miner.  Some people liked it.

this is amazing btw good job !

Fixed hashrate mining bonds were pretty much the only mining investment that was available back then and I made the decision to offer something different where hashrate could grow instead of being fixed so that investors weren't still stuck with 2MH/s a decade later.

We will grow and over time you will see a seat bought today being worth FAR MORE than 2MH/s in hashing power.

Currently we are at around 1,000x that hashrate per seat and built a savings of over 15 BTC while offering buybacks of seats from those who want to sell.  Additionally, we've sold custom coins that weigh thousands of ounces of silver, nearly a hundred ounces of gold, and a few ounces of platinum to raise funds for the club.  We also sent out a few hundred Bitcoin to supporters (and I am still attempting to give away lots of free silver coins).

So after 10 years, expanded mining abilities, new product offerings, and lots of drama.  We are here:
BITCOINS DISTRIBUTED:

I feel like we've conquered quite a bit over the last decade and I hope to continue leading us into another prosperous decade going forward as I attempt to clear away brush from our path.
5692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 10, 2022, 06:11:07 PM
It is risky if Warriors will go home with that standing, they need to do everything to snatch a game and tied these series inside TD Garden.

Much exciting if playing back home they are highly motivated, though we can't discredit with how the Celtics are trying their best to make

things favorable to their end, that game 1 collapse from Warriors 4th quarter game is something that they are enjoying right now. They will

do everything to keep the lead and continue to play a game ahead with the Warriors.

I agree that is the worst thing that could happen. And given that the Celtics don't lose back-to-back, the warriors cannot afford to lose game 4. If the warriors fall to 1-3, the Celtics most likely will take the championship in game 6.

They need to put themselves together and address and adjust their plays accordingly. Especially when Curry is trapped or mismatched. If they figure that out, they have a higher percentage of tying the series 2-2.

I’m expecting a great game tonight. I hope Steph is feeling better after his injury scare last game. Klay really needs to step it up and have a good game too. I can’t believe how well Boston has played these last 2 series’. They might just be on the verge of an NBA championship after tonight. I hope we see this series go 7 games though because I don’t want the season to end.

5694  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why USA Should Supply more Offensive Weapons to Ukraine on: June 09, 2022, 06:59:03 PM
...or... hear me out...  The USA could choose to mind their own business and worry about supplying more offensive weapons to their own citizenry so that we never have to worry about anyone trying to infringe on our basic human rights like the people from Ukraine are now feeling.  That would be crazy right?  Imagine a government supplying their own citizens with weapons...  Better to use Ukraine as a proxy and let those people suffer, right?

It doesn't matter which side of the fence you're on.  War by big governments is wrong and we all lose, because it only leads to more government control.  Politicians are caught in a feedback loop with the military industrial complex to line their pockets and just for fun politicians have decided that letting big pharma onto their teats would really make them rich.  Next up will be food (it's already started, our supply chain is currently under attack), then housing (inflation/deflation anyone?).  I only hope that Bitcoin proves to be the lifeline it is claimed to be.  I have my doubts, but it seems we'll have our answer in the next 1-3 years.
5695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Rehypothecation Causing Instability in Bitcoin Prices? on: June 09, 2022, 06:49:32 PM
Hi,

Are the exchanges using Rehypothecation, where the same Bitcoin can be used as collateral several times causing instability?

Does Rehypothecation actually cause a decline in prices?

Rehypothecation is a well known Wall Street practice to create excess profits.

https://www.investopedia.com/news/how-commingling-and-rehypothecation-affect-bitcoin/

Are exchanges using rehypothecation?  Many people think so.  It's extremely likely that they are if they are able to.  This is why there is always a constant voice to get BTC off of exchanges.  The thought is that if everyone withdrew their BTC, the exchanges wouldn't have enough BTC to send everyone and would have to purchase more on the open market.  If there isn't enough BTC for sale to fill all of the withdrawals, what happens?  Exchanges go bankrupt, the price goes as high as is possible with the funds that are left, and those who held onto their own BTC would be wildly rich.

Does rehypothecation cause a decline in price?  Yes.  Simple supply and demand.  They're creating supply out of thin air that doesn't exist to meet demand instead of allowing the market to correct with a natural price.

With Bitcoin, it would be extremely easy for exchanges to publicly prove their reserves 24/7.  Nobody uses Bitcoin for it's transparency though, unfortunately.  It's just about hodling and pumping.  If any exchange actually cared about Bitcoin, they would give up to the second publicly accessible feeds that showed their customer deposit numbers as well as a list of addresses that hold all their coins.  100% transparency is easy when you're honest.
5696  Other / Meta / Re: [Statistics] OgNasty's Merit Faucet on: June 09, 2022, 06:33:21 PM

My conclusion from reading this thread...  LOL
People here like stats more than good deeds.  I've been working on that merit thread doing good for approaching 3 years now and it received less merit than this thread has in under a week...  A perfect showcasing as to why this forum has more people creating statistics than those actually creating use cases for Bitcoin and helping members of this community succeed with their projects...   Please do better.  If you merited this thread and not mine, you are the problem here (both threads deserve it, TBH).  Please don't take this as me caring about merit either.  I don't care if you never send me any.  Just pointing out a hilarious observation.

Perhaps many perceived that those that give away Merits are not in need of them as they have aplenty.

Well, nobody is in NEED of them.  I also didn't mean to come off as though I cared about my situation personally.  I don't.  I was more preaching from a soapbox that one of the problems on this forum is that people want to praise those that comment or analyze those that are doing things, instead of praising the people that are actually doing things, so we end up with more statisticians than project developers...  Giving another example from me personally...  NastyMining was a project I started over a decade ago that has distributed more than 700 BTC, but that thread is merited by less individuals than this thread received in a week.  If paying all the costs to run a community organization for over a decade while distributing hundreds of BTC with 100% transparency to community members isn't merit worthy, what is?  What are we trying to achieve on these forums?
5697  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Just a video about how bad some security holograms are on: June 09, 2022, 06:25:34 PM
Anyone who didn't get their holos from securityhologram does not have good ones.

I think you should leave the video with the impression that security holograms are not "tamper proof" any more than a lock is not "pickable" so it doesn't matter where you buy them from...  Casascius addressed this long ago by lasering the edges of his holograms so that they could not be removed cleanly with this technique.  That was a great solution.  In my first round of minted seats I also had crazy security features (anybody ever peeled one of the originals with the security bump under the hologram?) that proved to be too time consuming and labor intensive for me to continue while offering what I felt was a bargain basement price on my work.  I imagine Casascius probably quickly tired of lasering his holograms onto coins as well, but it was a good solution that wouldn't matter where you bought the holograms from.
5698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 09, 2022, 06:20:25 PM

Latest championship odds.

Warriors 2.70
Celtics 1.48

Very attractive odds for the Warriors, I can get a 2.87 odds using the price boost, I like these odds now because I believe that the Warriors will not easily fold down, they have the championship DNA on them, so these odds are not only attractive but also an opportunity for those who want some good value.

I would agree about those odds...  I don't think of the Warriors as underdogs at all.  I still think the pressure is on the Celtics to win the next game, but if they do win that game...  The Warriors have a serious uphill battle to win.  All things considered though, it would give them a chance to redeem themselves for the 3-1 Cleveland series and give the 3-1 a new meaning.  That would be pretty awesome for them, so I'll keep that in the back of my mind as a silver lining if they lose the next game.  I think the Celtics are running out of surprises though.  Their gameplan seems to keep changing, but I don't know how many surprises they have left.
5699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 09, 2022, 06:29:36 AM
What do you think of Horford's foul on Curry? It was called flagrant but I think it was normal. It's not like Horford intentionally placed his feet under Curry.

You can never be too careful when it comes to this sort of play. Especially when it’s one of the league’s stars. Last thing the NBA needs is Steph going out like Kawhi Leonard.

Draymond Green looked like a liability out there tonight. He’s got to get more involved with putting up some numbers. Klay and Wiggins could’ve shot better. I think things are still ok for the Warriors but there’s cause for concern.
5700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season - Finals on: June 09, 2022, 01:42:41 AM
A hell of a first quarter for the Celtics. They were up 15 at one point… Jaylen Brown had his best quarter of the series. I don’t think he’ll be able to keep that up (17 points in the first quarter), but if he can the Warriors are in trouble. For the Celtics to have this big of a lead with Tatum not getting into his groove yet is a bad sign for Golden state.
