Is it right time to buy DASH?

depends if you are left or right

** to all right-handed persons : now is the right time to buy Dash !! **

Sorry I'm left handed. So I shouldn't buy more DASH now.

well, you can always pretend yr right-handed .. i wont tell  Grin

I've today many Orphans in my Debug Log.

24 h Datavolume 22 GB!!

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21000833/DRK/dash.PNG

Better stop dashd, delete peers.dat, copy yr debug.log and delete it from yr server if its getting large and issue a re-index, make sure you are on
the right block and issue a restart. If you want to be totally sure then delete the blockchain (not yr wallet.dat !!) and let it rebuild it.

My montly bandwidth is  59 GB inbound .. 53 GB outbound.
My 24 hr bandwidth is much much lower ofc, i'm only reaching 2GB inbound and outbound.

That's great! I should collect some money to build masternode.

You can also share a masternode with other users here.. if the initial costs of 1000 Dash are too high at start.
Although if you raise 1000 dash by yourself you get to keep the dash in your own wallet (trustless solution as the coins never leave yr wallet)
and with sharing a masternode with other users you have to trust the masternode operator and pay him both MN operating fees and what your are willing
to put in that masternode sharing (a trust solution).

edit : a few edits to clear things up

nice buy at bitfinex :
.....
i guess thats what a 576 Dash buy order can do ...

edit : actually i'm not totally sure how large that buy-order really was

According to the 1-minute volume it looks to have been about 250 Dash. There's very little supply on the books close to the exchange price.

thanks, i was hoping someone would look into it.

My adblock appears to be faulty  Roll Eyes

use adblock pro  Cheesy

Actually: Use "Adblock Edge". They don't sell your browsing habits to the ad industry.

Well, if they indeed sell my browsing habits to third parties i just hope they get paid in Bitcoin (or Dash).
This way my browsing history can help spread the use of cryptocurrency worldwide ...  Grin

Quick question :

All these discussions on the fixed blocksize limit that Bitcoin is facing and the possible solution to that (increasing the blocksize limit),
is that something that Dash and other altcoins will face too in the near future ? Or has it been fixed with Dash already ?
I vaguelly remember some Dash discussions about this some time ago .. i cant remember the details.

We have one big advantage, masternodes get paid and nodes don't. Thanks to that, we could eventually increase the block size and masternodes would have an incentive to follow through and improve their specs and pay for bandwidth so they could manage bigger blocks. Anyway, our blocks are also 1MB, but happen every 2.5 min instead of 10 min, so we have a bigger room to fill.

Also, bigger blocks would not be a PIA for users because we will have the trimmed version maintained by masternodes. For the average user the blockchain will be small.

thanks for your reply Fernando .. very informative.

Someone, or some group are seemingly trying to hold DASH under 0.012... Feels to me like if we can finally break this level then there will be a significant move up...

call me crazy, call me paranoid or call me silly but i always had this nagging feeling that the Dash price even now is carefully steered towards a price at which
its still achievable to reach the target of 3000 active masternodes more easily and in a certain time period ... once it does reach the targetted 3000 masternodes
though i have a feeling things will change fast (meaning a lot higher price)

*** Test version 12 on Testnet is momentarily on hold due to some bugs that needs to be sorted out first but it will continue shortly i'm sure so i thought i posted the following : ***

For those interested at testing version 12 on Testnet after it has resumed and are willing to give some helpfull feedback :

* Register at https://dashtalk.org
* Check these two sites for the latest test updates of version 12

1 : https://dashtalk.org/threads/v12-testing-thread.5484/page-3
(check latests posts from Eduffield or from flare containing links to the most recent testversion downloads)

2 : https://dashtalk.org/threads/testnet-tools-resources.1768/
(this is flare's site)

Here you will also find two faucets which will get you some tDash, these hold no value and are only used for testing purposes on Testnet to get you started.

I'm normally running several test window Dash versions (dash-qt.exe) at the same time to help me with testing the Darksend mixing, the best way for me personally is
to create two seperate folders for each dash-qt.exe you are going to use..

Examples of Testnet folders on my own D drive :

TestDash1  : containing dash-qt.exe
TestDash1Data : this will contain the blockchain and wallet etc..

* create a shortcut from the dash-qt.exe inside the TestDash1 folder towards your desktop (rightclick on dash-qt and click create shortcut to desktop)
* edit the shortcut by rightclicking with your mouse on it , click on properties and replace existing text in the target of the shortcut with :

D:\TestDash1\dash-qt.exe -testnet=1 -datadir=D:\TestDash1Data -listen=0

TestDash2  : containing dash-qt.exe
TestDash2Data : this will contain the blockchain and wallet etc..

* create a shortcut from the dash-qt.exe inside the TestDash2 folder towards your desktop
* edit the shortcut by rightclicking with your mouse on it, click on properties and replace existing text in the target of the shortcut with :

D:\TestDash2\dash-qt.exe -testnet=1 -datadir=D:\TestDash2Data -listen=0

TestDash3  : containing dash-qt.exe
TestDash3Data : this will contain the blockchain and wallet etc..

* create a shortcut from the dash-qt.exe inside the TestDash3 folder towards your desktop
* edit the shortcut by rightclicking with your mouse on it, click on properties and replace existing text in the target of the shortcut with :

D:\TestDash3\dash-qt.exe -testnet=1 -datadir=D:\TestDash3Data -listen=0

You will notice that all i'm really doing here is adding the commandline options to the shortcut :

-testnet=1 : forces the wallet to go in testnet mode
-datadir=xxx : forces the wallet to use a specific folder for the blockchain and wallet to store
-listen=0 : enables several wallets running at the same time

Now you are ready to participate on Testnet (when it resumes).

Is it possible to implement wallet recovery option like on Monero, where 25 random words are generated, so that you can recovery wallet.dat file even if you lost it? I think something like that is a must have for a future of cryptocoins.

We have an automatic backup system in place already with latest wallet 0.11.2.23, see Tools - Show Automatic Backups.

edit : i would advice people to at least hold a blockchain / wallet for backup purposes on a HDD drive, SSD drives (specially 1st gen SSD drives) could in theory one day
totally crash on you and recovery may be impossible. Keeping it all just on a SSD drive is therefore not advisable.

I think most people have moved past the initial euphoria associated with the Mt. Gox pump era and now view bitcoin prices more like commodity prices … ie: trending towards the cost of production long term.

Then I'm clearly not "most people", otherwise w.t.f. am I doing here   Huh   Wink

(P.S. Unlike mineral deposits in the ground, in cryptocurrencies, the 'cost of production' increases in proportion to the 'euphoria'  Wink   )

50 BTC on BTCe....munched.

100 BTC on BTCe....munched.

81.....munched.

It's panic folks.

Panic over what ?

the fear of buying back in too late..
