5721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin getting global adoption from this statement by central bank governor? on: September 20, 2019, 05:27:36 AM
This is another nation trying to adopt the blockchain technology through creating their own cryptocurrency, the problem is the fact that this cryptocurrency is to be controlled by the central bank which doesn't make it decentralized, which it ought to be to make it a form of digital currency that would grant the freedom they claim it will have.

I'm always not so convinced with all this kind of news, I feel when the Central bank or government tries to create their own cryptocurrencies without adopting the already existing bitcoin, then they have a selfish motive in their minds, which is definitely not to grant anyone freedom or financial growth.
5722  Other / Meta / Re: Portuguese board Merit analysis and application on: September 20, 2019, 04:33:57 AM
Unfortunately, many posts on our board have not received the reward they deserve. It'd be very interesting to have another Merit Source or increase the amount sMerits generated per month in our board.
I do not think that problem is only peculiar to your board, even in most other local boards, complaints still ring out of the lack of merits in them, but for now theymos doesn't look like  he's interested in doing anything. You guys can simply just do with the merit sources in there, till probably if or when something is done about it. Or users in there who can converse in English can also go to other boards, earn merits and spend the Smerits wisely in the local board.

I cannot understand the language, I would have loved to give out some merits on that board.

I wonder what happened with the Neymar's case.
So many rumors for him all the summer and finally we didn't see any move or any transfer of him to Barcelona.
His career is going to be so destroyed if he doesn't get a transfer during the winter transfer.
I do not think so, Neymar may not be happy with the fact that he could not get his desired move away from PSG, but he is also a professional and would do his job when called upon. I think Neymar is going to see this as a second chance/bite of the cherry to try and endear himself to the PSG supporters.

The only problem would be if the coach doesn't play him often which is possible based on the uproar he and his transfer saga caused, I think we should just wait till Neymar is fit again and see if he still remains in Thomas Tuchel's plans, looking at his mammoth weekly paycheck, he just has to be and he knows he has to perform this time around.
5724  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: September 19, 2019, 03:12:39 PM
Chelsea is building something new with Lampard and they definitely need more time for that.
No doubt about that, Chelsea are building something new with their new manager, but that doesn't make them pushovers or less of a big team.
When two big teams play, irrespective of form, or which has slightly better players, it still turns out to be a tough encounter, the ego is at stake as well as bragging rights of who defeated who amongst the big six. Only on few occasions can a capitulation occur on the part of one of the teams.

That said, Chelsea are in this game and the two teams have nearly equal chance of winning, Liverpool obviously are the ones in the greater form, but Chelsea still remain a top club and that's enough motivation.
5725  Other / Meta / Re: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements on: September 19, 2019, 09:03:21 AM
Release of merit system was big thing, but I think that these rank requirements (1 merit to become Jr. Member) have real effect. It changed forum a lot into positive side.
It was really a positive move and it has had a positive effect, getting one merit is quite easy to do, but it's easy to say that simply because we're good posters, for the terrible posters, getting one merit is like swimming across an ocean, and when this was implemented they tried and tried till they gave up, which help get rid of some negative forum members.

So in general, Theymos really improved the forum implementing that.
5726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 19, 2019, 04:28:38 AM
I watched the city game, and to be honest that game could have finished 7- nil or something within that range, city missed plethora of golden opportunities, it was starting to look like they purposely didn't want to score, crazy.

City obviously should top this group with 18 points, that's a 100% record, I just hope after this stage, they do not fumble as usual.
I think this season the underdogs are proving they can also compete, take a look at the Atlanta game, who could have believed such an outcome. It was a fun-filled matchday one, I must agree.
5727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 18, 2019, 04:47:45 PM
Has anyone managed to calculate how much money could have been made if they bet on the right winners of last night? I mean I am pretty sure you would have a great odds at your hands and if you bet a decent amount you could have tested the max mounts of any sportsbook out there.
You can only say that right now because you've seen the outcome of the games, before the games kicked off it'll be almost impossible to predict them all correctly.
You can't calculate how much money you would have made because it always looks really easy when the games are over.

You can try predicting tonights games prior to its start and see how lucky you'll be in winning, I bet you wouldn't be so lucky.
5728  Other / Meta / Re: On Post Bursting and Other Facets of the Term on: September 18, 2019, 04:26:54 PM
Post bursting is mostly an issue to the campaign managers as they are thinking users who do such are not concerned about the forum, but are just trying to get their tasks over with.
Users most times get kicked out of campaigns due to that, but it's on extremely lame cases where the OP just acts foolishly and types out obvious gibberish over and again in such a short period of time, this sort of act is annoying really.

Most times I click the reply button without fully knowing exactly what to say, but the more i type, the more i get the flow, this most time takes me time, as i can take quite a lot of time in constructing a single post, then the proofreading aspect, all this makes the posts come out good to an extent and other users can read and appreciate them.
I'd always say it's better to forfeit a weeks bonus than trying to spam just to get there.
5729  Other / Meta / Re: My 100 days on Bitcointalk on: September 18, 2019, 04:04:03 PM
Whew! I have quite a lot of days myself to get to 100, so I'll not be telling you how many though  Grin.
Sum up the time I've spent on the forum, I can attest to the fact that the forum is an interesting and perfect avenue to learn about bitcoin and achieve something personal(rank up/become established).

It's good having more people spend time on the forum like yourself, not on and off members who wake up when it's time to advertise on a bounty or those whose time have been cut short here due to a ban.
I have quite a long time to get to 100 days, who knows I could be a senior member then Wink. Congrats and many more days here.
5730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lets think Bitcoin as an investment not payment system, is this right? on: September 18, 2019, 02:27:39 PM
Whichever way one chooses to use it, is totally dependent on that particular person and as long as its used whether for payment or investment, it still remains a fact that it's the bitcoin being used and popularised.
No one should make us feel nor lay claim to one being more superior than the other, it's your coins, you decide what to with it, I and so many other people use it for both reasons(investment and payments)some just one, but it really doesn't change anything, it's popularity doesn't look like its running short, nor will it.
5731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: September 18, 2019, 04:57:46 AM
I have put my money on the line for their CL match against Valencia. Things will not go down easy for them but somehow I feel Chelsea is gonna win this. Hope that becomes the case
Too bad, didn't go that way, money lost Grin, Chelsea were obviously the ones tipped to win that game, buy they didn't. Their performance was really great and they missed a couple of good chances, since the beginning of the season, I think Chelsea have been playing real well, but they've not been picking up victories, even in games they totally did play better than their opponents, just like this one, Valentia made the most of their limited chances.

Liverpool also lost to Napoli and this sets up their encounter between Liverpool and Chelsea this weekend well, as the two sides are coming up against each other on the back of midweek Champions league defeats, no psychological advantage for any of the sides, it's down to who can recover better.
If Lampard does win this, it'll be a massive boost to his morale as Chelsea manager.
5732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 17, 2019, 10:07:40 PM
Damn, lost lot of money tonight :/
I think it'll be very difficult for one to get predictions correct, seeing how the games ended, and if tonights performances is anything to go with, I do not think we'll have a clear favorite for the title this season as I would not be writing off any of the fairly big teams.

We'll go again tomorrow, there are two big games coming up tomorrow, PSG vs Madrid is a must watch, this two sides are not actually in their best form, but a victory for any of them could breathe life into their season, I'll be tiping Madrid to win this one, though I'm yet to come up with my predictions for tomorrow's games, I need to recover from tonight's loss Grin.
5733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Browser extensions can steal bitcoin on: September 17, 2019, 09:19:17 PM
You do gain convenience from using browser extensions to simplify things from automatically refreshing a page to autofilling, but you're also sacrificing security by doing so, and in many cases that's worth much more than the time you save with those extensions.
And that's why I do not use this extensions despite the fact that it has its inherent advantages, but they cannot be compared with the risk that's coming into play when you actually use them.

I'm one of those bitcoin enthusiast who's too concerned about security and safety, and I think it's a good thing to do, it has aided me so well that I've not fallen for any scam since I started operating on the network, any thing such as extensions that has a tendency to make me lose my bitcoins, I do not use, and if I do, I make sure they are the legit ones and also use all preventive measures available, everyone should indeed act that way.
5734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 17, 2019, 07:13:09 PM
Lots of drama I just love these nights. Enjoy the game, gents and ladies!
Not just you, buy myself as well, I watched the Lyon game, I actually did place a bet on them to win but too bad they could only come out with a draw, that sort of spoilt the night for me, as that was my first game running, I'll just watch the rest of the matches and enjoy the night then with s beer in hand.

I'll be following the Barcelona Vs Dortmund game, I think Barcelona would struggle in this game against the believe of many, the game looks destined to be a tight one in my opinion.
5735  Other / Meta / Re: Is this concerning? This could be a conspiracy too. on: September 17, 2019, 06:47:32 PM
I'm more surprised someone would waste their time to read 3K+ of your posts to find and report posts which violate forum rules.
I seen a thread where a spammer isn't banned after 100 of his/her posts are removed in short time, so i wouldn't worry about this problem if i were you.
That's why I feel this is more of a coincidence rather than someone or group of persons conspiring against you or others.
A user could come across one of your posts that he feels should be removed and then go ahead to search for more and maybe find a whole lot and end up reporting them.
But I doubt that a user would simply just single out another user and make it a habit of reporting their posts,(except it's posts from a renowned spammer or troll),due to conspiracy or any other alike theory,
5736  Other / Meta / Re: Special badge for signature campaign managers? on: September 17, 2019, 03:19:07 PM
We're yet to get the reporter badges, I doubt we'll ever see this one, at least not for now. Why would one want to identify campaign managers differently, you'll also have to understand that campaign managers come up everyday, mostly ICO CM.

I think if the suggestion had been a sort of badge for the best campaign managers around the forum, then it'll be much more interesting as CM's would then try to do a good job on the campaigns they manage to earn them such badges, but a badge for everyone of them would not work.
5737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 17, 2019, 05:40:53 AM
If you have forgotten Juventus have Ronaldo playing for them who knows Atletico Madrid well, and he’ll try and win it on his own if required.
Ronaldo has a history in scoring goals against Athletico and I do hope it continues, though there is every livelihood that it may not come into play in this game, this sort of match looks so much like a draw to me, as the both teams would be rather too careful so as not to kick off their UCL season on a bad note.

I think this is the biggest match of the first matchday and it's the one everyone is eager to watch, I'll be predicting this one in favor of Athletico, I think they have a slight edge over juve this season, still early though, but I believe they'll win: 2:1.
5738  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: September 17, 2019, 05:21:46 AM
We'll be meeting the best team in Europe (Liverpool) and probably the best currently in the premier for our next game. It won't be a shame if we lose...
This is Chelsea's second real test in the EPL, so I think they really need to prove something in this game, the first was against united and it ended in a thrashing, losing your first two big games against the big six is not a nice start, you need to also be able to beat the big boys to show you're ready to compete in the league.

No doubt Chelsea have been doing well, at least far better than expected, not that they are way below the performances they've put up, but just because of the way people gave then zero chance before the league commenced.
If Chelsea can beat Liverpool, then they are real contenders for the title.
5739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sad News: Kidnappers now requesting bitcoin as ransom in Nigeria on: September 16, 2019, 10:25:18 PM
Kidnappers have always demanded ransoms in diverse/distinct currencies, if this is to create a bad reputation for the bitcoin, then it ought to have destroyed that of the fiat currencies a long time ago.
Bitcoin transactions are difficult to trace, but in the "case" of a high profile case, it can be. Kidnappers usually demand ransoms(fiat) dropped at specific pickup points, this act to me is usually as difficult to trace as bitcoin transactions are.

All the furore is just the same old negativity towards the system, whichever way kidnappers choose to carry out their illicit trade, it's no business of ours, but that of the police to do their job effectively.
5740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AMA (Ask Me Anything): The current state of Bitcoin in the Philippines 🇵🇭 on: September 16, 2019, 07:06:42 PM
, and this is why we are having lots of them being scammed because scammers also are taking advantage of the fact they are desperate about making money to exploit them.
It's all down to their greed, when these sort of newbies are in a hurry for speedy money they throw reason away and no longer perceive what looks too good to be true.
They fall for scammers claiming to double bitcoins, those claiming to sell at a crazily low price than the original price, they even fall for those asking for private keys.

If only knowledge and learning would take prominence first in the minds of these peoplel, then they'll learn more about the bitcoin, increasing their knowledge about the network and making it almost impossible to fall for cheap scam.
