5721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shit Bitcoin Fanatics Say on: March 07, 2014, 05:54:02 PM
I'm going to kick in a tip this weekend. And might I suggest another video "Shit bitcoin haters say".  I thought this video was funny, but the crazy troll stuff writes it's own jokes.
5722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So do Bitcoiners actually claim the foundation wasn't infiltrated? on: March 07, 2014, 05:47:18 PM

The claim that they are investigating Bitcoin because it could be used by terrorists to finance an attack instead of corporate interests is the equivalent of me violating your privacy and spying on you 24/7 to check for the boogeyman under your bed. ...
I am with you bro! Right after 9/11 I knew that soon the term terrorist will be used for everything. Especially as a pretext, kinda like they use "kiddy porn" to scare people into giving up rights. But there are people who think like us in the CIA also. And they want to have some knowledge of bitcoin because, although rare, it may be used by an actual terror group. If that happens the CIA wants to be ahead of the curve and know what they are dealing with.
It is even conceivable that the CIA might use it themselves. A system that can be used to send money anonymously around the world is certainly going to be explored by all the world's covert services.

Did I win?

Wow, close! My number was: 985,127,014,233,505,270,335,875,346,337,306,767,271,122,687,733

One number off. lol
5724  Other / Off-topic / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto - 1,5 million Bitcoins - We need answers on: March 07, 2014, 05:29:39 PM
The bitcoin is non fair as it looks.

Money isn't fair. It's by design.
+1
You could also think of it as fair; like nature is... brutal, competitive, uncaring, and fair. Fair does not mean sitting on your ass should be rewarded with the same payoff as those who work hard.
5725  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How to argue long-term capital gains? on: March 07, 2014, 05:24:39 PM
I am claiming some long term gains for 2013. We'll see how it goes, but I do have lots of documentation. And I plan on using First-In-First-Out methods.
What I want to see is someone claiming a loss.
5726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Talks to CIA... Drops off Map... WTF!?!?!?! on: March 07, 2014, 05:05:15 PM
Is the Earth round or flat?
Let's vote on it. That should work.  Grin
5727  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Removing the possibility of duplicate private keys on: March 07, 2014, 05:03:51 PM
I think you are correct that there is a mathematical *possibility of generating two identical private keys. But as mentioned, the chances are astronomically low. Like this game... Guess what number I am thinking of? It is between 0 and 9,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 1,460,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. I can accept as many guesses from as many people as want in.

Fixed that for you.

Your range wasn't big enough.  It needed to be about 100,000,000,000 times as big.

Humans seem to be REALLY, Really, really bad and comprehending just how big "very big numbers" are.  I throw on a dozen extra zeros, and it seems like its just a handful more zeros. It doesn't seem like it makes a big difference, but it actually makes a huge difference.

Haha thanks Danny! My calculator caught fire before I had finished the math.

P.S. Hey can you PM me a BTC addy? I would like to send you a tip this weekend. Nobody deserves it more than you. Your helping of newbies is the kind of thing that moves bitcoin forward and creates the community. And your answers are the straight dope.
Props to you sir.  Smiley

Woah, you know what else could have happened? Almost anything else... Shocked

5730  Economy / Goods / Re: We source products from CAMBODIA on: March 07, 2014, 04:33:14 PM
Hmmm. I think I will be in Cambodia at the end of the year. I might be interested in logistical planing services, horse rental, guide service, etc. near Siem Reap.
Maybe even just meeting Cambodian bitcoin users.

Unless you believe in fairy tales, it's not scary at all.  Smiley
Yep, this is the kind of fear that gives logical minds a competitive advantage.
5732  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos is taking illegal ads from a ponzi scheme - MakeBtc.org on: March 07, 2014, 04:23:55 PM
That is the "I'm not guilty because I didn't know it was against the law" argument. It's like saying "I didn't know the white powder was an illegal drug".  Good luck with that one.

And for $1000 of advertising, he could spare 1 hour to investigate it.
The problem is when a mod checks out an offer that later turns out to be a scam. Then everyone will be mad because they had an expectation that the adds are vetted. You just have to do your homework here.

Hint: Anything except buying bitcoin at market price should be considered a scam, IMO.
5733  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the world too dumb for Bitcoins? on: March 07, 2014, 03:39:36 PM
Yes. But they were once too dumb for the internet.
That's exactly what jumped to my mind. People use the Internet every day but have no clue about the TCP/IP protocol. All the Internet code is now hidden under click here buttons. That will happen to bitcoin as well. So, yes I'm too dumb for bitcoin but smart people are making it easier for me all the time.
5734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi ruined a poor man's life on: March 07, 2014, 03:02:53 PM
Satoshi Nakamoto is a common name in Japan. During the time I spent there I met Satoshis and Nakamotos.
5735  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Diamonds on: March 07, 2014, 03:00:29 PM
Hey all. I did find some diamonds for the ring. Learned some things about them as well. Particularly about insuring them. If you have your jewelry insured you might want to check the valuation. There is a good chance you are under or over insured because the price is very volatile. One piece I had appraised at $7600 in 2011 has fallen to $5100. That drop is just due to a change in fashion away from emerald cuts. Geeze, I should have had it set with a bitcoin.

5739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So do Bitcoiners actually claim the foundation wasn't infiltrated? on: March 06, 2014, 09:25:27 PM
I hear you Rodeo, and I'm not a conspiracy theorist, nor am I not a not conspiracy theorist ...

-conspiracy theorist
#~+-1

And I do hear you man. An Idea like this is a plausible idea, but until there is some evidence that's all it is. I think a lot of people at the BF just ignore these threads because there are soooo many.
The fact is conspiracies do happen sometimes. When they do, they happen for a reason. Motive is the key! Why would someone infiltrate the BF? what would they gain?  It's not like it's a secret what is being done there. You could just ask what's going on and I'll tell you. Or read for yourself. Very little of the foundation's website is not viewable. In short there is no logic in "infiltrating' an org that makes itself public.

As far as the government not being very interested in BTC. I can tell you that the policy makers I have met with know zero about bitcoin. It is just not on their radar. In circles like the CIA they are aware of BTC. But that is their job right? It is plausible to be concerned about real terrorist using BTC to finance an attack.  They just want to know what is and how it works. But there is no evidence that they care to attack crypto currencies.
5740  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Diamonds on: March 06, 2014, 08:08:03 PM
What is your price range?

Beware of this guy SCAMMER, he scammed me for 33$ (29,000 Dogecoin) yet alone having Diamonds lol..
Thanks, I will be careful. Any diamond purchase will be escrowed or done in person. Otherwise I will be dealing with an established, licensed business.
