5721  Bitcoin / Press / Re: (2014-01-13) An NSA-Proof Twitter, Built With Code From Bitcoin and BitTorrent on: January 13, 2014, 05:10:42 PM
Now that's very interesting, that's a social network I could get behind, for those who don't know there's also plans by Kim Dotcom to do a peer to peer chat extension of some sort that operates on the same principles, I think the video of it was posted up on this section.

Edit: Here's the link, it just got bumped - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412602.0

I've argued about this in several threads and I'm not about to ruin another by bothering to respond to a sarcastic government loyalist.

<dm> I discovered that you'd never get an answer to a problem from Linux Gurus by asking. You have to troll in order for someone to help you with a Linux problem.
<dm> For example, I didn't know how to find files by contents and the man pages were way too confusing. What did I do? I knew from experience that if I just asked, I'd be told to read the man pages even though it was too hard for me.
<dm> Instead, I did what works. Trolling. By stating that Linux sucked because it was so hard to find a file compared to Windows, I got every self-described Linux Guru around the world coming to my aid. They gave me examples after examples of different ways to do it. All this in order to prove to everyone that Linux was better.
* ion has quit IRC (Ping timeout)
<dm> brings a tear to my eye... :') so true..
<dm> So if you're starting out Linux, I advise you to use the same method as I did to get help. Start the sentence with "Linux is gay because it can't do XXX like Windows can". You will have PhDs running to tell you how to solve your problems.
<dm> this person must be a kindred spirit of mine

Damn! you are clever

That's fantastic and it is true actually, you get a much better response from people sadly by deliberately pissing them off than you do being polite and asking for help.
5724  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] How would you describe yourself politically? on: January 13, 2014, 04:51:39 PM
I think there is a major distinction between Anarchists and Libertarians, Anarchists don't want a government. Libertarians want to extremely limit theirs.

Then what do libertarian anarchists want? lol

We're in between and we'll settle for an extremely limited government but having it removed entirely would be awesome, I suppose at least for me you could consider me a diplomatic-anarchist as well Tongue so if you ever negotiate a power agreement with me I'm going to whittle you down to almost nothing.
5725  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-11] Coinye creators send counter cease-and-desist order to Kanye West on: January 13, 2014, 04:48:40 PM
That's pretty interesting though, fighting anybody with Bitcoins or any cryptocurrency that they can't freeze is going to cause nightmares for these rich people who get by suing other people rather than working anymore.
5726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Move big amounts of money on: January 13, 2014, 04:44:43 PM
If you are a financial investor please take note that cryptocurrencies are unlike any other 'real life' market in existence right now, the currencies have an absolute fixed money supply and the prices are not manipulated or fixed by central banks. If you've been in Bitcoin then you should know this already but altcoins are even smaller in market cap and trade volume at the moment so suddenly flooding the market is going to have a huge impact on the price.

You can get altcoins off Crypsty but there are other exchanges too which is something you're just going to have to research Vircurex also have a selection of altcoins out there but Cryptsy have the biggest selection.

I think like with video game violence and trying to ban the internet people are just going to eventually stop taking these people seriously and completely lose patience with them, I'm certainly getting to that point now because I'm getting sick of their fear mongering, I don't even take all the murder stories the media post up seriously anymore, yes, it's definitely a bad thing, but the fact that they're blatantly trying to scare you with it just pisses me off rather than makes me concerned now.

5729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin solo-mining? on: January 13, 2014, 04:11:56 AM
1600k/hashes I'd say is plenty but, if you're going to solo mine any low difficulty coin you need to think long term otherwise you'll just end up with the same sort of money as if you were doing pool mining on a high difficulty coin, you'll only ever really make money off mining at all these days if you do long term trading with the coins you've gathered.

The people who made the serious cash with Bitcoin and Litecoin I reckon are the ones who built up their stash when the difficulty was extremely low and then waited for a year or so for a price rise to happen.
5730  Economy / Economics / Re: Hide your kids, hide your wife! on: January 12, 2014, 06:55:34 PM
Most people on this forum have already known about this for awhile now but yes, it is pretty amazing how the central banks have such a huge amount of the population completely fooled, to be honest, I just look at it as a far better chance of me becoming a millionaire than the lottery.

We will be upgrading our server hardware on 12th January 2014, the sytem will not be available from 15:00 GMT to estimated 16:00GMT.

That's the best explanation I can think of myself and it's about time too, nice to see them adapting to their volume.
5732  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nexusakachus owes me and others money on: January 12, 2014, 09:34:21 AM
That's not how it works, when you owe people money, you pay it back, it's that simple, it doesn't matter what method it is especially in regards to Bitcoin, I refuse to take down any negative comments I've made about you especially when they're true, let this thread be a warning to anyone who would think about lending you money or doing business with you.

p.s. Hope you enjoy the extra negative ratings Smiley
5733  Other / Off-topic / Re: What we've learnt today. on: January 12, 2014, 09:30:51 AM
Well I'll be damned, I had a moment just like that for a couple of days now but all of a sudden I'm happy to work again Cheesy

Game of Thrones
The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
Top Gear
The Big Bang Theory
Lots and Lots of Anime ( Do they count as t.v? Cheesy )
5735  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] How would you describe yourself politically? on: January 11, 2014, 08:57:49 PM
Because if you support the threat of violence against other human beings then that just makes you an asshole.

Sure, but I don't see how anarcho-capitalism avoids the threat of violence when it promotes private property and wage labour.

How does my holding onto my stuff, or me and a buddy agreeing privately on payment for a job threaten violence (or just "not avoid" it?)

Because to people like him wanting to hold onto your stuff is 'hoarding' and should be punished Tongue
5736  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nexusakachus owes me and others money on: January 11, 2014, 08:51:26 PM
I just thought I'd re-bump this thread for the sake of other people, Nexusakachus seems to be at it again, he PM'd me saying he'd pay the money back which is fair enough but I was suspicious of how long it took for him to come round to do it and of course rather than just be honest and doing it right away he wants to do it through the BTCJam notes and said he wouldn't give the money back until I removed any negative comments or ratings about him which is essentially blackmail.

Since I would rather lose 0.1BTC than let other people become a victim of his new scam operation ( which I suspect is why he wants the old stuff deleted ) I'm simply going to post up the messages he sent me instead.

do you want to recover the money you invested in btcjam in my loans ¿

to recover the money you have to log in btcjam  and  you must issue a note for the value you have invested in € or USD at the moment you invested , convert to btcs at actual rate and i buy it

thanks

and you have delete any coment if you wrote something like"scam"  or something  and tell the people in the thread you start in this forum accusing me of being a thieve ok?

in negative case you will never get your money back

have you totally understand ?

Nexusakachus, that took some balls, if you want to pay me you can do it honestly and right away through the Bitcoin client and I'd have happily sung your praises on the forum but now you just make yourself look like not only a scammer but somebody who would use blackmail against people to me. Any other lenders who haven't been paid by him as well be sure to post whether you've received these vaguely threatening messages too.
5737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin vs Dogeocoin on: January 11, 2014, 08:25:15 PM
The dogecoin is one weird clusterfuck of deliberately poor English and marketing, I'd stay away from it myself but then again I haven't done a huge amount of research, the overall supply of coins I'm seeing though is already enough to keep me away.
5738  Other / Off-topic / Re: I think Bitcoin should be banned because ... on: January 11, 2014, 02:12:03 PM
I hope you're trolling because people keep coming here saying stuff like that and it's a bit like walking into a community dominated by dark skinned people while wearing a khu-klux clan outfit, the only response you're going to get is a "Fuck you" from most people lol.
5739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Currency in Year 2020 on: January 11, 2014, 12:38:26 PM
Why is Bitcoin riskier exactly? The code is available for everyone to see so any problems will be fixed if any experts spot them, the money supply is limited through the blockchain to only 21 million, Bitcoin has no government or people trying to commit fraud in it's name by pretending there's more of it than there actually is ( Though I'm sure people like the Winklevoss twins will certainly try ) and when you talk about volatility in the price of Bitcoin everybody conveniently forgets that it's paper money that Bitcoin is being priced against rather than precious metals or physical goods.

So please, unless you're going to go into as much detail as I am don't go saying things like Bitcoin has a greater chance of collapsing unless you're actually going to explain why.
5740  Other / Off-topic / Re: To the Moon on: January 11, 2014, 12:27:07 PM
It's nothing new, I'm trying to remember some of the other stupid phrases I've heard on the internet that everybody and their little brother keeps repeating but I think my brain wiped them on purpose because it was so annoying.
