I wish I could order 1 U3 instead of 20 alonght with an R1.. Sad..  I'll pay for shipping.

Still think they should make a U4 with the new chips.. I need another small miner.  S7 is just too much for me for hobby mining.

Look over in group buy's.  There are sellers such as crazy guy.  He sells them 1 at a time.

He is a very good seller.  There might be others but there are many ways to get 1 instead of that 20 order quantity.

I like to buy from Bitmain directly but no biggie.

I do to buy with MOQ 20 that is a lot of U3's to take on at once.   Honestly check out Crazy Guy's site or PM him - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=25223

I planned on getting 1, liked it so much ordered 2 more from him.  Hes top notch seller (and no I don't get paid for this endorsement Smiley ).  I just know he will treat you right though.

3 per 15A breaker will trip.  If it's a 20A breaker, he'll be alright, but won't be able to run much of anything else on that same circuit.  Could probably run a decent LED TV and a lamp or two Tongue
You're right I just checked the S5 wattage it is higher than I had thought, if hes running 20amp he'll be fine, he could underclock the s5 to 500w each and run all 3 on a 15amp breaker and have ~200w to spare, this would give him led lights, clocks, and what not.

Good math on it.  Really depends on how much he has on that breaker.

OP do you have access to the breaker box?   If so what amp does it say for the area your wanting to put it.  Also do you have any other items on that breaker?

Its even possible to earn 1 bitcoin a day if you hard work and find your own unique way to earn bitcoins Grin
i know what you mean if you have your own method to earn bitcoin, you can earn 1 bitcoin daily, for your information i have a friend who have income more than $15k in bitcoin only in two month,he just keep his own secret method but unfortunatelly  he has decide to stoped earn bitcoin, actually he just found some bugs on a site

Unless you have a good skill you share over forums 1 BTC is a pretty hard to do this.  I'm not sure what unique + secret methods equal 1 BTC a day.

But that is a lot of money and would require some time, and/or a lot of skill of selling a service.

Ok,  if you can fit this stuff in 4mb flash i will eat my hat. And try to disable 5 ghz interface, it will maybe add more stability to USB interface.
I made this firmware for myself, and shared with community, if you don't like , don't use.
Wooaahh... Hold your horse there!

And you have to eat your hat as I managed to stuff all the necessary OpenWRT packages into 2MB flash of ASUS WL-700GE which has internal storage with IDE interface. So 4MB flash is massive space especially if there is USB ports on the router where you can just plug in external storage.
With usb stick attached? Try to fit in 4mb without external storage openvpn + luci + cgminer. Look at the flash layout of mr3020 for example.
http://wiki.openwrt.org/ru/toh/tp-link/tl-mr3020
2.5 Mb is not enough for that.
This is offtopic, so we must stop i think.
P.S. If you can do it better - share your build with community. Target mr3020 without usb storage.

First we should be thankful smit shared his.  Considering he did it on his own dime... that is saying something about him.  I wish I had one to try it on now.

The tplink nano is very capable.   Look into Avalon 4.1's.  They ran special ddwrt with gui as a controller(it loses router wifi and such just runs cgminer).  The usb port you hooked the miner up to if 1 or a hub if multiple.  So you are not giving this tplink enough credit.  I would agree with Smit if you have better release it.

Still no shipping movement

im sure they were testing the product thoroughly to ensure best experiencefor the customer. LOL

Ha

Exactly

Nice that batch 2/3 is +-5%

So your batch 3   4800ghs can run 4560ghs and STILL BE IN SPEC

And your batch 2 4600ghs can run 4370ghs and STILL BE IN SPEC

If I can get around the speed of four s5's I'm happy.

We don't have to worry about any of the units being +5% faster. We'll only get a bunch on 5% slower units if they don't run at advertised speeds.

right, in bitcoin mining universe +/- usually stands for pat or minus, never a + without overclocking.
Spond started this trend and BMT is a fast learner.

Good probability they are 5% down.
The high dollar clients can run for a while and ship their slow ones back so that YOU can buy them.
What joy at the bottom of the food chain.

I don't know if it's fair to say this.  This is not the first time batch 1 was off spec look at S3's they gave partial refunds/coupons as so many did not hit it.  SP did always advertise the high side.

But bitmain in a bad batch always is pretty good about being in spec.   I think people will be happy that batch 2-3 you get what you paid for.

Estimated Next Difficulty:   62,199,308,496 (+2.28%)

The other cat is getting excited! But I told her that a lot could happen in a week...

I'm hoping it stays close to this.  I would be very happy with low 2's.  Or even mid 2's.

But I'm not sure what will happen at end of chinese holiday.  Could see a jump from new machine in S7's.
5788  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Getting started on: October 08, 2015, 02:23:51 PM
Hey there I'm a newbie and I was just wondering say I have 7  antminer S5 machines ...and free electricity would it be a worthy investment and how long would it take to pay off?
http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator
7 s5's would be around 8k ghs and its close to 2 coins monthly.

I would use a calculator more like this : https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

It can take difficulty change into effect.   Coinwarz does not show difficulty change, so it's not really realistic.
5789  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 4 mini 25G-30G @12W Home /office miner Discussion Thread on: October 08, 2015, 08:50:08 AM
it is also out of stock  Wink

They are just showcasing it on website.  Showing what is to come, and share it with customers.

At that price it is not meant for sell.  And out of stock further confirms that.
5790  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining dead ? on: October 08, 2015, 08:48:42 AM
Hi, when I got into bitcoins, people around me already told me mining is dead. BTC mining will not make you any money because the electricity fee used will be greater than the outcome. Is this true? And how can btc mining be easier again?

It is not true, there are still a lot of people mining for bitcoins, and there are still someone making mining machines for better
productivity, If you are a newbie in mining you need to research a bit, and try reading bitcoins for beginners guide.
or if you know someone who has experience in mining then ask him if where to start, what machine that is best to fit for
you and I think you can achieve your desired ROI. Grin

Although mining is far from dead, just look at the steady increase in the network Hash Rate, it is getting progressively more difficult for the Home Miner with an Electricity cost greater than 10 Cents (Mine is 15 Cents) to stay in the game as the Difficulty increases and with Bitcoin halving next Year.

Putting aside ROI and just thinking about making more money than the electricity cost (Which as a latecomer is my objective) I am ok at the moment with a standard S5. By undervolting and reducing the frequency I can still make money up to the Halving. At that point even an S7 will need electricity under 12 Cents to make money.

So it makes life a lot easier if you have under 5 Cents electricity. If not you have to work hard at when to buy, when to sell and how to modify for best efficiency to stay in the game.  Smiley

Rich

There are some that love to go around and say mining is dead.  They enjoy spreading it.  But with right conditions you can still ROI.

Winter is coming up some even use miners to heat rooms.  You can find a way to ROI in most cases (as long as difficulty does not have huge jump).    If 10 cents or under and decently new gear you will do ok.
5791  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: October 08, 2015, 06:51:05 AM
I think you are right I wish we had the story behind it.  As far as I know it's kinda a one of a kind.  I have never seen 2 screws like that.  I am still wondering if somehow a RMA did it for something, or maybe someone used it for some mod and needed different positions.   Would be interesting to know.

Double holes have been a feature since the S1. In S1 & S3 screws without springs are fitted to both. The S5 added springs and the first Rev had two srews fitted, later versions just fitted one screw where there are pairs. V1.9 onwards the PCB layout dropped the second hole. See this post fr some pictures of the S5 Hash Board revs.

Rich

Thanks for posting that I did not know of that revision.  I was thinking something different.

The odd lock of many screws being different and look made me thing it was possibly a mod - https://i.imgur.com/v2poeaL.jpg?1 .  But appears just a mess of different screws no fun story I guess then.

I also want to point out that Coinbase is backed by tens of millions in investment dollars. I'm sure their investors wouldn't like it if they started arbitrarily screwing over their members. The investment is a long-term play, not a short one. And they're one of the few that are fully licensed for LEGAL transacting.

As far as us it's pretty safe to say they are the number one exchange at the current time.   And you are right they are backed by big money.  You could argue they have done the most to be legal as far as US exchanges.  Yes it changes on what country you are in which works best for you.

But I suggest everyone read their insurance.  It is pretty impressive on the amount it covers.  Make sure to use 2FA. But if you have to keep a hot wallet it is not bad.

Not sure if it's the same now as I haven't had an issue, but wondering if they still have the massive delay on some transactions. I sent one in 2013 that took almost 48 hours to finally hit the network.

Anymore I do a lot more mining then buying.  But I did not have problems with them that I remember.

Only thing I remember being a pain was gaining levels there.  For activity and money the more the higher the level.  At one point you can get instant for a certain amount.   Others you wait days which is no fun but understandable.
5793  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rules to avoid being scammed on: October 08, 2015, 06:44:56 AM
We need to check reliability of a site or person using this forum or Google.
Escrow would play a big role in scam preventing.

This is already in the list on using escrow.  That is kinda a no brainier if a high priced item.

On google it really depends some are better then using it then others.  Some get really good data they do it as a service even.  Others data is not great.  For example I go by notlist3d on many places.  But if you look online some times other people using notlist3d who is not me (I cannot sign up for every site on internet to reserve it for me).  So google can pull in these false positives of other people who use same forum name but are not the same person.
5794  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: October 08, 2015, 06:40:42 AM
I guess making 1 bitcoin in a year is easily possible for most of the people as there are many chances to get bitcoin now a days. Hopefully I too would make 1 bitcoin in less a year.

Making a bitcoin in one year means, making some 240 USD in one year. Is it that much hard. People wanted their bitcoin for being lazy. Even a micro jobs too pay more than $240 in a year.

it depends, but making 1 btc a year isn't difficult at this point. there are certain high level signature campaign posters who can reach even 5-10btc per year.

If 5+ your talking about a VERY VERY active poster and a VERY VERY good campaign.   And also a lot of time in there.  To make posts that are not crap and have content you can only do so many depending on how much time you have.

Out of curiosity what type of macro jobs are you meaning to do?
5795  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: October 08, 2015, 06:37:09 AM

Have you tried any other pools to see if it makes a difference?     Also what PSU model are you using?
5796  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: October 08, 2015, 06:28:42 AM
You have one unique board.  I have never seen the double screw in previous post.  It is interesting though.  Was a blade sent into bitmain and that blade sent back?   Just curious if bitmain employee did it or odd batch.

But the paste looks pretty bad.  I would get some cleaner/purifier if you want to do it right.  And clean all the chips get the old stuff off.  Then put on a light covering on entire chip should see paste on all of chip.

The nice thing with some of the pastes above is you would get multiple trys with the tubs vs the higher priced stuff. So for troubleshooting on thermal paste I would go for the tub with quite a bit of quantity of it.

I think i'm the 3rd owner. Or either way i'm missing a good portion of the story. I just know it was long and annoying and in vain.

The working board has double hole as well, with the default screws+string however. The miner was sent to Bitmain from the last owner, which received the unit back with the defective blade still, and missing the metal bracket that hold the controller in place.

I think he mentioned it working at first for a bit but then dropping after some amount of minutes. He might of tried to fix it and eventually it just died for whatever reason.

It still doesn't work so no point in repasting it. If i can't fix it, it will probably be used as some sort of payment/support to Sidehack.

I think you are right I wish we had the story behind it.  As far as I know it's kinda a one of a kind.  I have never seen 2 screws like that.  I am still wondering if somehow a RMA did it for something, or maybe someone used it for some mod and needed different positions.   Would be interesting to know.

And you chances are on right track.  If sidehack can get some chips off it might be a good deal for both sides.

I see now the price on the product's page. 6.69 BTC.

What?.. How?..  Shocked Is that for one unit? Is there a cute girl included?..

I don't see anything listed on Ehash

There are a few parts on it.  Main thing is the nano usb's.  - https://ehash.com/shop/

The other things are really just ad's.  But it would be a interesting toy @12 watts.
5798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Backing Up Your Bitcoin Precautions on: October 08, 2015, 05:11:11 AM
Here is my issue with my laptop.  The battery doesn't work anymore.  I want to have it replaced by sending it back to them then they replace it.  However if i do this, you want me to take out the hard drive before i do this?  Thus if i do that, then no hard drive would make it safe?

Is it out of warranty on laptop?  If so I would look at buying a battery and putting it in.

Also what type of laptop and model of laptop?  Just so we can see if it's easy or a pain.

I am pretty sure he has an Apple computer, since he has written above in the last post that his battery is very hard to get out and he can't just simply take it of and put it back on.
A lot of computers nowadays, not just macs, have built in batteries that are almost impossible to remove.

It kinda depends a lot.  There are some that are hard to get open, then the ones that are impossible almost.  I have dealt with hard and messed with one it was a huge pain.

Some are so easy batttery is detachable, but that is shrinking to more business class laptops.   A lot of consumer laptops are more sleek and they don't want the detachable battery.

But if OP lets us know the model we can see how hard it is.
5799  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: October 08, 2015, 05:07:48 AM
Signature Campaign. Good side earnings while you are busy at work. In my current campaign rules are not that strict and maximum post is easy to reach so even Im busy at work I can still lend time to do a signature campaign.

I do not know much about signature campaign. But I make some 100k Satoshi from faucets daily in my leisure time. I work on faucets daily some 1 hour. If you are good in choosing faucets, then faucets earning also would be nice.

100k satoshis per hour by faucets only? Even with a good faucet rotator it's kinda hard but anyways you are good. Keep up the good work.

i agree on this statement seem little hard but if you can gather that much then you use faucet almost 24 hours

Not really. He probably does ~10 faucets in a rotation and so spends a minute or so every hour hitting all of them. It's not that difficult.

Even if he get's 100k satoshi in a hour (which is high for faucet pay).  That is 2.5 USD or so for a hour of work.  That is a LOT of work for a hour to make 2.5 USD.

I could be wrong but I think pay is not enough to justify it.    But i know there are some who would do it even at a very little price.

It depends on where you're from. There are places that live like kings on $400 USD/month, with full-time maids and everything.

That is on the high end of faucets though.  Normally its cents per hour not dollars.  But if you did get 2 dollars a hour.  Yes that is 80 a 40 hour week, 320 dollars per month.

But that would be a lot of luck I think most faucets will be paying far lower.   But I could be wrong.  I would love for someone to show a guide that proves dollars a hour that's repeatable.

I can donate a complete S2 with all boards, I think 1 board has missing (yellow) resistor thingy broken during shipment.
I like the idea, why not?  Keep the creative juices flowing.
F the big companies for releasing 1 product per year and at a premium.
Long live the "Gekko Glee Club"  GGC!
Let me know how soon you want to proceed and I will send the boards.

"Now this is Pod racing!"   How about calling it "G-Pod" or instead of Pod call it "the Puck" why the puck not!

If this is called something pod..... which I hope it is.  I will be able to get some great pictures of my lifesize jar jar binks and the pod.   Just thinking of star wars pod racing when I hear pod racing Smiley.

And yes one of the odd facts about me I won a full size replica of jar jar binks at one point in my life.
